CPU ratio bug ?

Hi everybody,
I have a MSI KT3 Ultra 2, and an unlocked Tbred B 1700+ JIUCB.
When I try to boot using 14x or 15x, it posts at bogus sppeds like 667 Mhz.   There is also a 12.5x/13x setting which works fine at 12.5.
So how can I set 13, 14 or 15 ?
I have the latest BIOS.
Another question, what is the PCI divider on this board? I can't seem to find a setting for this, and when I try to set 147 or higher windows would not boot.  The DDR module is PC2700 and set at HCLK so it works below spec, so it does not work because of the very high PCI clock.
Thank you for any hints. Its such a shame because this CPU can easily reach 2 Ghz and I'm stuck at 1825 because of the CPU ratio problem and the FSB thing.

I think I know why it doesnt work !
I noticed that after i set the FSB to 166, the memory clock will be automatically set to HCLK+33.  Its fixed and impossible to change.   If I set back the FSB to 133 lets say, all memory speed modes are available again, all this in the same session.
Means that when Im trying to start at 166 the memory will be at 200 no matter what, and it can't handle that much thats why it doesnt post.

    Hi!
As Russian's MSI forum is dead I'd ask here.
    New board FM-A75IA-E53 (bios 2.0) + A10-6800K + 2x4Gb 2133MHz GSkill Ares RAM
Post, Boot Win7_x64 boot is Ok. But problem comes from Sun Virtual machine player.
The virtual machine is failed to start due to virtualization is off. I have search in the bios but failed to find 'SVM enable' switch. Despite it was described in the manual. (hint: bios 2.0 'SVM enable' is absent)
The bios was updated to 2.2.
'SVM enable' switch appear with Enable/Disable options.
    Win!
    But!
The CPU Ratio and Turbo Ratio is locked now. The lines to set the ratio is active (highlited, not dimmed as disabled) but on action on mouse click.
Does it common error with this mobo+cpu+bios or it is my motherboard bug?
    Please help.

You need to use +/- keys to change ratio settings not mouse click.

  • P67A-GD55: "Adjust CPU Ratio" disables "CPU Phase Control"

    I'm using P67A-GD55 (BIOS ver.1.7) and i5-2500K.
I changed "Adjust CPU Ratio" and I found "CPU Phase Control" was disabled automatically.
    1. Click "Green Power" and set "CPU Phase Control" to "APS Mode".
    2. Click "OC" and set "Adjust CPU Ratio" to "33"
(It's a default value, but please click the number "33").
    3. Click "Green Power" and check "CPU Phase Control".
    It is changed to "Disabled".
Please keep "CPU Phase Control = APS Mode".

    Thanks for the info.
I had another account and I reported a BIOS bug a few years ago.
    MSI fixed it soon.
I remember that, so I bought the MSI mainboard.
I hope this post would help other P67A-GD55 users and the MSI developers.

  • Z77A-GD80 Beta bios 1.2B Cant Adjust CPU Ratio I7 3770K

So I finally got my ram issue fixed (was bad module from Gskill).  Now the issue that I am having is that I cant adjust the CPU ratio so I can overclock my I7 3770K!  It is on auto and it will not let me use the + or - keys or manually input the ratio I want to use.  On the drop down menu all I have is auto.  Is this a bug with this bios?  What am I doing wrong if anything?

Are you trying to change the multiplier from uefi/ bios or click bios II? Have you tried flashing back to 1.1?

  • CPU Ratio not changing

    Hello,
I have a K7N2G (Bios ver 3.7) with an XP2500 Barton CPU and any changes
that I make to the CPU ratio has no effect. The FSB changes do stick though
and I've set all bios options manually.
J10 is in user mode and J11 is at 133/166.
    Any ideas?

newer bartons are factory locked like the P4
only the older ones can alter multipliers
prior to week 39 or so last year

  • Vcore and cpu ratio

Hey, i have the K7N2G and i have some problems changing the vcore and cpu ratio in bios...
my cpu is a XP 2100+, it only boots with default vcore and 1.625, and default cpu ratio... if i change the cpu ratio it doesn't boot... what's wrong? what can i do to change de vcore and cpu ratio without crashing? the max fsb that i can use is 157 (~=2050Mhz -> 157*13).
    I have OCZ-EL 256Mb

Wonkanoby....I think you are incorrect (but not 100% sure). I have a 2100 Tbred B and I don't have to use the wire trick if I put it in the EPOX...ASUS..... The nforce2 should unlock the Tbred B core, am I mistaken here?  I also had the same problem as the above user, but I CAN get the msi to unlock it at some lower multipliers. I'm a little confused why the asus and epox nforce2 boards unlocked my chip, but the msi will not. Any ideas?

  • KT4V CPU ratio

    Hi,
few days ago purchased MSI kt4v mainboard. I have a question about cpu ratio settings in bios.
These are the options MB offers me:
    14.0
    15.0
    6.0
    7.0
    13.0
    12.5/13.0
14x and 15x at the top. But when i try to set 14X133, the real setting is 4x133 !! Same with 15x (5x133). So, these 2 settings don't work! CPU is unlocked, becouse i can use all other ratios! I updated BIOS to 1.8 and it is the same! :(
Also i have a question about AGP: i have radeon 9000, but i can not choose AGP 8x in BIOS! I can only select 1x, 2x, 4x .... WHY?  ?(
    thanks for your answers.

i'll assume you are running your ddr333 at ddr333.  if it's on auto then try setting it to spd and then making it 333.  then try setting ur multiplier to 10 and fsb to 150 and then put ur fsb up in increments of 5.  once it fails to post then bring it down one at a time.  default clock for xp1700 is 1.466.  10x150 will put you at 1500 and should be possible.  if you can make it to fsb 166 then stop and up your multiplier to 10.5.  then keep upping your multiplier until it fails to post.  upping your vcore might help.  i'm not really all the familiar ocing xp chips though.  i've heard sometimes you don't have to up the vcore.
as for the radeon.  i looked for bios updates and unless you have a 3rd party radeon (ie. not made and shipped by ati) then you are probably out of luck with that.  i know most nvidia's are 3rd party anyway so they all have different bios versions.  best thing to do i guess would be to rma the card.  i'm sure if all radeon 9000's didn't work at 8x with the kt4 there would be lot more posts like yours.

  • Physical cpu to virtual cpu ratio for LYNC 2013 FE

    what
should be the physical cpu to virtual cpu ratio for LYNC 2013 FE and Edge server, it is same like exchange 1:1 ?

    Putting this here as well:
I don't believe this is documented anywhere.   I typically see 6 cores, but I've run with 4 or 8 but in the end it's all about watching performance.
System Center Advisory for Lync can complain if it's not at least 8.

  • 875P CPU Ratio locked?

    Just setup my system

    2x 512 HyperX Kingston RAM
    2x WD HDD SATA Raptor 36.7 10000RPM
    KT - 436 WM Case
    ANTEC 480w TrueBlue
    Sony FDD
    Pioneer CD/DVD-ROM
The Drives are setup in a RAID-0
    Here are my problems
    1) The Freq/Volt is listing the CPU Ratio as Locked!?!?! WTH!! I can't touch the multiplier!!
    2) I cannot get the HDD LED to work for the life of me anyone had success is the manual wrong? should I try other Pins?
    3) My case has Front Panel USB(x4). 2 of the connectors from the panel are meant to plug into the board and each have a n extra pin that I think is meant as an extra ground or something. Should I just ignore these and plug them in normally?
My RAM runs at 2/2/2/6 8 just fine and the drives are working great got windows loaded just fine with all the drivers and MSI utilities. Though the tru-color doesn't work very well turned everything a bit too blue.
Number one is my real headache I really wanted to run this sucker at 3.0-3.2 and up the FSB a bit.
Also sorry I don't know which BIOS revision I am at since I am at work I'll post it when I get home. Though the auto update thing told me it was up to date.

Ok well I found out Intel still locks their chips I thought they had stopped doing this and just found out how wrong I am.
Anyone have any insights on the HDD LED??

  • 865p wierd cpu ratio select problem

I just got a new p4 3ghz 800mhz fsb cpu and an 865p neo motherboard.  When I boot.  It gives and error saying it thinks that the bios is configured correctly.  For the CPU it says " , 1.6ghz "  When I enter setup.  In the menu option for setting CPU ratio I get wierd selection.  (yes it is an unlocked part. (I work at Intel)
It starts at H1.0X whatever that is supposed to mean. My choices are
    0.0x, H1.0x, H2.0x ...  I1.0x, I2.0x, ... I5.0x
No matter what I choose when I save and exit it just leaves me with a blank screen then shuts itself off.  It keeps doing that until I reset the bios then I'm back to where I began.
If I say skip and go to the boot menu I works until I have to reboot again.  I managed to intall the operating system, etc so I could get internet working and use the live update thing.  It says my bios and inf are current.

  • Z68A-GD80 - CPU ratio maximum 42

    Hello
For me  it is only possible to choose a CPU Ratio of Maximum 42 in Bios or the MSI Control Center. CPU is 3570k.
What can I do to achieve higher frequencies?
    Thanks for help!

I'm using a B3 Board with the newest Bios Version (20.1)
Ram is  4x4gb corsair XMS3 CL9 1600 MHz and the Power supply is a Silverstone Nightjar 500W.
I reallywould like to use "CPU Core Voltage: Offset" like they Name it in some tutorials but I don't find it in this BIOS.
-- EDIT: Just seen that this it not possible with the Mainboard --
But theproblem with the 42 remain....

  • 915G CPU Ratio Unlock

Hi guys, after a BIOS reset the option to unlock the CPU ratio seems to have disappeared.
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=techexpressdesc2&express_no=42
Thats how my BIOS looked like, now I have no unlock  ???
And this is my mobo; 915G Neo2 Platinum (V1.0B)
    http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=proddesc&prod_no=161&maincat_no=1
Are there any options in my BIOS which could affect this?

Ah, okay, now I get an idea of what has happened.  Your board/BIOS has this feature:
Explanation: Safe BIOS - SafeBIOS will automatically restore BIOS from backup area, whenever it fails during BIOS update or virus attacks.
Looks like, something has triggered the automatic recovery procedure, causing this feature to kick in and automatically reflash the BIOS to the first BIOS ever released for your Board.
