Hi,
We just migrated our database from AIX 5.2 to 5.3 ant to mechine p595.As I brought up the database after the migration,we encountered that the cpu keep reaching 100% when there's no job running. It's Oracle 9i database running on p595. Pls help.

Hi,
'Oracle 9i' is not a version, it is a marketing label. Please post your full version number x.x.x.x
Also you need to investigate inside the database what is consuming the CPU.
Please refer to v$sesstat and v$statname. v$statname has two statistic items for CPU time being used. You can join both tables, and find out which sessions are consuming the CPU.

  • Problem - Playing media stops when CPU reaches 100%

    Hi,
I have a big problem, I use JMF for playing my videos and music for my video game.
But if the CPU reaches 100 % the playing media stops and if the Processor is in the state less as 100% it continues playing.
But windows media player continues playing for some seconds after reaching 100%.
Would it help to increase the Buffer with BufferControl or is this a problem for Java?

You can't really compare JMF to the windows media player because your java app is undoubtedly doing other things at the same time as it's playing your music and videos. Win media player just has to worry about playing the video/music

  • X200 CPU reaches 100 celsius degrees. is this normal?

I'm using LenovoThinkVantage Toolbox to do a CPU stress test and and the same time I'm running TPFanControl to monitor the speed of the fan and the temperature of the CPU.
When I run the CPU stress test the temperature of the CPU reaches 100 degrees celcius with the fan going at 7000rpms which all of it sounds excessive and not right to me. Is this normal? or there is something wrong with my system.
    Thanks in advance

100C is around the maximum the CPU can deal with before sustaining damage.  Even then, running at that temperature for extended periods of time is most certainly going to be problematic.
I can't imagine it was designed to be run that way, so I'm guessing there's a problem.  Maybe a heatsink is not seated properly, or something is obstructing airflow.  Either way, I'd say that if you're under warranty it's worth having the depot take a look.

  • Gaps in audio when CPU reaches 100%

    Hi,
I am using Adobe Audition 3 on a laptop with the following spec:
    Intel Dual Core 1.6GHz CPU
    2GB Ram
    120GB HD
It records perfectly and normally the CPU usage is around 20%. However if my computer decides it needs to do anything in the background while i'm recording the CPU usage shoots up to 100% and puts a gap in my recording. How can I stop this from happening? I have tried increasing the CPU priority of Audition in Task Manager, but still happens?
    Many thanks in advance!

I would also suggest that you defrag your hard drive... I just defragged this laptop and it even starts up smoother.  If you have a lot of time to waste you may wish to defrag with VM turned off while in safe mode... I do this all the time under windows XP and it helps a lot...  I have also used a program called JkDefrag (http://www.kessels.com/Jkdefrag/) that is much faster and can even be setup as a screensaver to defrag when you're not around, but it's a manual install... Pretty easy to use though as it's pretty automatic and there are no buttons or other options that you need to go through first...
If you are brave and want to defrag in safe mode with Virtual Memory turned off do the following... (Instructions for Windows XP with Classic Control Panel)
Note: If you aren't familiar with setting virtual memory settings then you may want to print these so you can set them in safe mode before restarting again...  Or just don't do this at all...  Do at your own risk... If you have trouble then well I told you so...
With windows started normally go to the control panel and double-click the System icon.
On the dialog that appears click the Advanced tab and then under performance click the Settings button.
On the new dialog that appears click the advanced tab and under Virtual memory click the change button.
Select the first drive and write down the settings for that drive... Do this for all other drives.
Select the first drive and then select the No paging file option and click the set button... Do this for each drive in the list. (don't forget to press Set)
Press the OK button and Apply or OK on the other dialogs...
A window should pop-up asking you to restart your computer... Close any running programs and click yes to restart your computer...
Press F8 while your computer is starting up to enter the boot menu...  If you don't get the boot menu then you missed your chance and will have to try again by restarting...
At the boot menu select Start in safe mode... If you don't see this option then hit F8 again...
You may have to select your windows installation after selecting Start in safe mode... Just hit enter...
When windows starts up click Yes to continue working in safe mode and then goto Start->All Programs->Accessories->System Tools->Disk Defragmenter... In the defrag utility select the first drive and then hit the defrag button... You can do this for all other drives too.
If you decided to use JkDefrag instead of Disk Defragmenter you can simply click Start->Run and Browse to the location you installed the exe files and run either the JkDefrag.exe or the JkDefragCmd.exe and it should defrag all local drives automatically...
When it is finished you should use the instructions I gave you above to turn off Virtual memory to do the opposite and turn it back on... Don't forget to click the 'Set' button when doing so...  If you're not sure how to set the virtual memory settings for your drives just make sure that one internal drive is set to System managed and then click the set button and ok and apply on the other dialogs...
And when done restart your computer and see how it starts much faster then before
Anyway that should be it... Hopefully I got it right and nobody really needs to read all that anyway...  I'm so bored I should have wasted time somewhere else... And if you have problems making things work after turning off VM then you probably didn't turn it back on   Or you don't follow instructions well...  Or its me being retarded...
Yeah... Defrag works in safemode and does a better job when it can access all the files on the drive like when VM and Hibernation is turned off... Maybe someone else can right a better tutorial for the FAQ pages...

  • CPU reach 100% when saving a large report in pdf format

We have some reports that are fairly large. When we schedule them to save in pdf format, the job server takes all the CPU resources, and makes other servers slow. Is there a way to limit how much CPU the job server can take?

    Just give
    destype=mail desformat=pdf desname=emailid
    in cmd line
Which reports version are you using ?
In 9i you have to specify outgoing mail server in
    $OH\report\conf\server_name.conf
in this xml element (uncomment it)
    <pluginParam name="mailServer">%MAILSERVER_NAME%</pluginParam>

  • Which Transcation Lead The 'Max. CPU load' Reached 100%?

    Hello Gurus,
I've received our EWA report on Sep. 5.
It told me the CPU index 'Max. CPU load [%]' once reached '100%' on Aug. 27.
I want to find out which transcation lead the index to '100%' on that day.
But I still cant' find it out after using OS07/ST06/STO3N/ST06N.
Do you have any good idea for me?
    Thank you very much!

    Hello Jason
We found that you using power5 CPU on AIX server with CPU dynamic allocation.
The CPU statistics of SPLPARs are not reliable within SAP standard monitors. You can not believe the current CPU utilizaiton check in EWA report. IBM and SAP developed CCMS transactions for monitoring those environments. It is recommended to use your Solution Manager system
(central monitoring system) for monitoring those environments. Please refer to the following SAP Notes and consider activating CCMS monitoringfor your SPLPAR environment:

  • CE-565 CPU UTILISATION 100% DUE TO SPAM TRAFFIC

    HI,
    I have a ce-565 conifured as a proxy .
it was working fine till recently when due to spam in the network , the cpu utilisation reached 100%
and i had to remove the cache engine.
now whenever i put the cache engine, the network becomes slow.
WIll it become ok if i do a clear cache or do i need to re-format the hard-disks again.Pls suggest. It"s very urgent.
    Thanks in advance,
    Regards,
    Amit.

    Amit,
I don't think clearing the cache will have an effect on that... but you can try it since it does not have nay harm other than erasing cached data.
Make sure that you do not allow access to the cache from the Internet, so only your internal clients can access it. Also, you can configure some sort of authentication (Such as NTLM or LDAP) on the cache.
If those are not options, or do not resolve the issue, then you should open a case up with Cisco TAC.
    Hope this helps..

  • My iPhone 5s with iOS 7.1 become very hot when charged almost reach 100% and will shut down itself.

My iPhone 5s with iOS 7.1 become very hot when charged almost reach 100 % and will shut down itself. Then I need to off the power and let it cool down first before I can on the phone back. Please help me to solve this problem. Thanks.

    Hi Limfromsi,
It is normal to an extent for the iPhone to get warm during charging. If your iPhone is currently in a case, you may want to try charging it without one and see if the issue occurs, as the design of the iPhone uses the exterior of the device as a cooling surface. For more information about iPhones and temperature, you may find the following article helpful:

  • Oracle Database 11.2.0.1.0 CPU hit 100% on Windows 2008 R2 64 bit Hyper-V

    Oracle Environment Detail:
Oracle Database Enterprise Edition :11.2.0.1.0 (NON RAC, No failsafe)
    O/S:     Windows 2008 R2 64 bit (6.1)
    Specifics: Virtual Server using Hyper-V
    Memory: 9 GB RAM
    Processor: E5540
    Specific about the issue:
I have two database instance created on this server with ‘memory_target=3600M’ each.
I am getting into an issue where I find NO activity on database except regular schedule job running using DBMS_SCHEDULER –
    •     Database FULL export DAILY schedule time 7 & 7:30 PM accordingly for both instance (takes about 15-20 mins each)
    •     Database FULL RMAN DAILY schedule time 9 & 10 PM accordingly for both instance (takes about 35-40 mins each)
This was set up on Feb 25th 2011. Since then we have encounter CPU hit 100% TWICE in this system at around 8:30 PM (SAME TIME). Both database instance exports keep running and never finish. While RMAN schedule job has NO problem. Mostly everything runs every smoothly without any issue.
    Replicate the issue:
I am unable to replicate this issue and do not know the cause of the issue.
    Work Around:
    Oracle services shutdown/Server reboot.
Would anyone know about this issue? Have any information could help? This system will become production soon and want to make sure we have solution for this.
    Thanks in advance!

I am finding that CPU hit 100% is very specific to Oracle 11.2.0.1.0 Export Utility (exp) used to take FULL database export. I understand Original Export is desupported from general use as of 11g but available for specific need.
Have anyone faced this issue with 11.2.0.1.0 Export Utility (exp)? Please help.
I have a need to use export utility which gives us migration options.
    Thanks!

  • My ipad 2 will only charge if the system is completely shutdown and it can take up too 7-8 hours to reach 100% 2 hours later I'm down to 12-13% what's wrong with it?

My grandson's IPad 2 won't hold a charge. It will only charge when the system is completely shutdown and it can take up to 8 hours to reach 100%! he's only 5 so he uses it to watch netflixs and playing games but a couple of hours after finally getting a full charge the indicater is down to 12%-13%. Keeping the system plugged up while he's using it doesn't do any good its like its not even plugged up. What could be wrong? Any assistance would be appreciated! I brought the IPad 2 in 2011 and gave it to him in 2013 when I brought myself the IPad Air...so its really not that old to be acting up...

  • XP mode on Win7 Pro x64, windows xp update/svchost pushes CPU to 100% in virtual machine.

Installed xp mode on a win7 pro, dell 490 with xeon cpu. The install goes without error, win xp virtual machine loads nicely, I do not enable updates at the config during 1st startup. When Automatic update is enabled later control panel shows svchost is
pushing the cpu to 100% and the update never completes.

    Hi,
    1. try to run XP in safe mode by F8
    2. then change Automatic update service to Manual or Disable.
3.boot XP into normal mode and see weather its still 100%.
    thanks
How do you start safe mode when running XP Mode in Win 7?  When you start XP Mode, the BIOS is hidden.  By the time the XP Mode window comes up, its already loading the Windows desktop.

  • I tried uninstalling firefox then re-installing it but i cant. The error message file not specified keeps poping up everytime it reaches 100%. How do i fix it?

I really want my firefox back. But everytime i try to download the newest and oldest firefox installer and run it, it reaches 100% then an error pop up 7-zip appears and says "the system cannot find the file specified." I tried to run it as administrator and putting it on desktop but it didn't help.
Please someone tell me what to do to install my firefox again.

Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a ''Clean reinstall''. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
'''Note:''' You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
#Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
#After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
#Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
    #*'''Windows:'''
    #**C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
    #**C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
#*'''Mac:''' Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
#*'''Linux:''' If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see [[Installing Firefox on Linux]]. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the [http://www.mozilla.org/firefox#desktop Firefox download page], simply remove the folder ''firefox'' in your home directory.
#Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
##Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
##Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back to see if this helped you!
