CPU Smart Fan Not working

Hi! I am using the Z97 Gaming 7 with a H55 Corsair Water Cooler. Somehow when I tried to use the smart fan control it doesnt work on my system. The fan keeps spinning at 100% although I the temperature is at 30+ Celcius only. The smart setting is the fan is only supposed to spin at about 20% speed when it's 30+ Celcius. However the System Fan Smart Control seems to be working as the speed actually follows the temperature of the system. Why is this happening? Is there something wrong with the motherboard or the cpu smart fan control.

Sorry let me rephrase my question as I was typing half asleep last night  .
Actually in the MSI Command Center, the smart fan control was setup in a way that the fan should be spinning at 20 to 30% of the max speed while the CPU temperature is at 30+ Celcius but in my case the fan was still spinning at 100%. In the setting the fan should only spin at 100% if only the CPU reach 80 Celcius but in my case it's already reaching max speed. I tried to manually control the speed of the fan thru the Command Center using the manual mode and it fails as well the speed is still at 100%. As for the System Fans, I am able to control the speed thru the smart fan control whereby the speed of the fans will adjust accordingly to the temperature of the system. Looking forward to getting some feedback here. Thanks.

This issue was found in my replacement motherboard. the original mother do not have this issue.
The origianl mother to be replace is due to can't power on after a power failure recovery. I believe was due to power surge killed the motherboard's power controller circuitry.
Appreciate any one can provide clue for resolving the problem.
I have tried to install speedfan to try my luck, but it can't any fan in the application to configure. (Bios Version F50)

  • Horrible fps problems, fans not working

    Hi,
Whenever I play League of Legends on my 15 inch retina macbook pro, the game starts out smoothly with a consistent 60 fps.  However, after a certain period of time, the fps severely drops to about 5.  It never used to do this, but now it happens consistently.  Also, the fans have not turned on in months; they used to always be on whenever I played League, but they seem to never turn on anymore.  Could the fps problem be related to the fan not working?  Please help, and thanks!

Hi,I bougth netbook hp 2540p windows 7 instaled, and have a problem with cooling fan.The fan not working on the battery ,working connected to power adapter all the time.have you any suggestions how to fix it.thx

Windows 7 or Windows 8? You are likely set to passive cooling in power management while on battery which means the laptop will do almost anything rather than kick on the fan while on battery. It will slow the processor instead. If you shift to active cooling your battery will get eaten up very fast. In short, I think your system is probably fine and messing with it does not make any sense. However, here is some more information on passive vs. active cooling:

  • Error 90B - Fan not working properly?

Hello, this is my first time here so please excuse me if I posted this in the wrong section.
    First, general specs:
    HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC
    Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit
    BIOS:  InsydeH20 Version CCB.03.61.09F.21
    Processor:  AMD A6-3400M APU w/Radeon HD (4 cpus ~1.4GHz)
    6g RAM
(If anything else is needed to help me ask, and I shall post it)
Last week I received an error 90B for my laptop's cooling fan.  I was playing Guild Wars 2 and in the middle of playing my laptop shut down suddenly.  When I turned it back on it presented the error I'm asking about.  The thing is, the system wasn't overheating in the slightest and the fan was working just fine before it shut down.  I've tried many fixes proposed on HP's website and from a couple of friends:
-Compressed air blown into the vents
-System restore to a point where the fan worked
    -Hard reset
    -BIOS update
None of those proposed fixes worked.  However, I did find something that fixed it...for about ten minutes.  I fiddled with the Catalyst Control Center and set my CPU power back to its default 1400 MHz, and I shut down my system.  After I restarted it I miraculously didn't get the 90b error!  You could imagine how happy I was.  I shut it down one more time to see if the error was truly fixed, but lo and behold it showed up again.
The only change that could have caused the issue was me downloading a program called SpeedFan to monitor my system's temperature (I did NOT (I repeat, DID NOT) change any settings using the program - I purely used it to monitor the temperature.)
I cannot afford to have a repairman replace or look at my laptop as of now, we have bills to pay and food to get, and I absolutely NEED this computer to function.  I have work to do, and classes to sign up for, and we have no public computers for miles.  Please help me!

Not every fan error is a heat error. There is a sensor that detects a bearing that is wearing out or spinning that is out of round. You can sometimes limp it along for 6 months before the fan absolutely has to be replaced. When it does you will not be able to get past the error.

  • Intel SpeedStep and Fan not working

    Hello,
I have an older Toshiba laptop: Satellite M30 (PSM30C-7100K).  A couple of years ago I had replaced the motherboard but have not noticed until now that the fan is never on and that the CPU is always stuck at 600MHz (Capable of 1.6GHz).  I have tried the following with no results:
    -  Testing the fan which works when tested on another motherboard
    -  Using the windows PC diagnostic utility - which shows everything as PASS
    -  I made sure that the DMI information was updated on the motherboard (Satellite M30) and now my restore DVD works
    -  I have the latest BIOS update 1.7
    -  I have tried all the BIOS setting for the speedstep functions (Always High, Dynamically Switchable etc.)
    -  I have tried CPU-Z and PRIME 95 to load and monitor the CPU frequency - with no increase in frequency
I am wondering if anyone has any suggestions, since I think I have exhausted all the standard options?
Does anyone have any info on the PC diag (DOS based) utility that can be used via a serial cable to test this toshiba motherboard?  I found this as a troubleshooting option in the service manual I found on the internet.
Are the motherboard schematics available?  This unit is old so it might be an option from the Toshiba side.
Any feedback or advice is welcome.
    Thank you in advance!

Hi! Here's a program I use. Please be careful down loading software programs from the internet. I try hard to make sure I post a healthy site. There is a new thing out there. It's called a down load manager. It's showing up every where. I have tried to get help here on the forum to inform our members. Down load manager will put all kinds of crap on your PC. I post my little warning every chance I get. So far I haven't gotten any response from members or staff. I just keep giving the warning.

  • HP pavilion dv6 fan not working

My HP PAVILIONDV6T-6100 laptop (Product no. LM720AV) is having problems with the cooling fan and overheating. I have started getting the cooling fan not functioning error at startup. When I use the laptop-the cooling fan runs almost all the time. It turns-off when I have only one application running on the laptop.
I understand that since the fan is running perfectly fine, the fan motor is still functional. Could it be dust accumulation that is causing the error and fan running continuously? Where can I get the insturctions for opening the cooling fan assembly and cleaning it? Also will I need to replace the thermal insulation after cleaning?
    Thanks
    Sunny

I paid $30,000 for my car but I trust the dealer to work on it because I know their mechanics do it every day. I could watch youtube videos and figure out how to do a tuneup but they will do it better. I will change my own air filter however since it is not too hard and will save money. Replacing a cooling fan is more like a tuneup than replacing an air filter. Still, you can do it if you follow the Manual and are careful. Here is the Manual:

I would go ahead and run all the diagnostic tests you can access by tapping F2 and entering UEFI Diagnostics. Other than the fan what other problems are you having?

  • Eeepc 901 fan not working

Hello everyone! I installed Arch on my EeePC 901 and everything seems to run smoothly, until I noticed that the fan is not working. I did a little search on the forums, to check if someone already had to face something similar but with no success.
This is the output of pwmconfig:
    # pwmconfig revision 5857 (2010-08-22)
This program will search your sensors for pulse width modulation (pwm)
controls, and test each one to see if it controls a fan on
your motherboard. Note that many motherboards do not have pwm
circuitry installed, even if your sensor chip supports pwm.
We will attempt to briefly stop each fan using the pwm controls.
The program will attempt to restore each fan to full speed
after testing. However, it is ** very important ** that you
physically verify that the fans have been to full speed
    after the program has completed.
    Found the following devices:
       hwmon0 is acpitz
       hwmon1/device is coretemp
       hwmon2 is eeepc
    Found the following PWM controls:
       hwmon2/pwm1
Giving the fans some time to reach full speed...
    Found the following fan sensors:
       hwmon2/fan1_input     current speed: 0 ... skipping!
There are no working fan sensors, all readings are 0.
Make sure you have a 3-wire fan connected.
You may also need to increase the fan divisors.
    See doc/fan-divisors for more information.
This is the output of fancontrol:
    Loading configuration from /etc/fancontrol ...
    Error: Can't read configuration file
And this is the output of sensors:
    Adapter: Virtual device
    temp1:        +62.0°C  (crit = +85.0°C)
    coretemp-isa-0000
    Adapter: ISA adapter
    Core 0:       +18.0°C  (crit = +90.0°C)
    eeepc-isa-0000
    Adapter: ISA adapter
    fan1:           0 RPM
I'm pretty a newbie and I don't know what to do, is there someone who can give me some advice please?
    Thanks to all.

Thank you for your answer, sorry but I can't check the forums too often...

  • AUDIODG.EXE hogging 80-100% of CPU and sound not working in Vista . . .

I posted this on a Microsoft Answers Forum but none of the techs or people reading have been able to help so far.  I'm dying to get to the bottom of this:
    Here is my computer:
    MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum
    AMD Athlon 64 3000+
    2GB RAM
    XFX GEFORCE 6600 GT 128MB DDR3 DUAL DVI & TV OUT (PCI-E)
    200GB WD SATA HDD
500GB WD HDD in external enclosure via USB2
NEC ND-3520A 16X DVD±RW Dual Layer DVD Burner
    LG CD Burner
I've been using Vista Home Premium successfully for some time.  Recently, not too long after I did a clean wipe of my OS, my audio would stop working.  The way it would happen is that everything would work fine until I started iTunes or another audio application and when I would hit play, things would lock up.
Upon inspection of my system resources, I'm noticing that the audio platform for Vista, via the audiodg.exe, is using close to 100% of my CPU resources, even when the computer is making no sound at all.
I've had a Sound Blaster Live! card in my computer for some time but I was not using it; I use the Realtek AC'97 audio drivers that are on my motherboard instead.  I thought that the conflict may be the computer wanting to recognize my Sound Blaster, so I took it out of my computer but the problem seems to be worse.
Are there any BIOS setting that need to be adjusted for my sound to start working again?
I'm very reliant on the audio processing power of my computer (I'm in the radio industry, part-time) and this is a huge drag on my productivity.
Any tips would be much appreciated.
    REPLY #1:
Thank you for using Microsoft Answers forum.  I suggest going to the manufacture of your sound card and download the latest drivers and install them.
    MY RESPONSE:
Good suggestion.  The problem is this:
I am running on-board audio.  I have an MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum motherboard which runs "Realtek ALC Series AC97 Audio Driver" and there is no version for Vista. They have a version for Windows 2K/XP and one for Windows XP 64bit.
Should I use on of those and if not, then what?
    UPDATE (from me):
I took a chance and found a Realtek AC'97 driver for Vista.
    http://drivers.softpedia.com/progDownload/Realtek-AC-97-Audio-Codec-Driver-Vista-6183-Beta-Download-18114.html
I went to install it and the install hung.  So, I closed one of the install windows and then the InstallShield app continued like it was working.  So, I hit "Restart my computer".  Well, the reboot hung too.  So, I reset the PC manually.
When the computer came back up, the sound worked.  Hard to tell if this will fix it for good but it's promising.  Chaotic.  Unpredictable.  Annoying.
    REPLY #2:
Before you tried updating drivers, did you try rebooting 1st?
I'm just trying to determine if rebooting your system is what resolved the issue - thank you
    UPDATE II (from me):
My computer is behaving the same way it was before.  AUDIODG.EXE taking up 80-100% of my CPU and the sound not working.
    Any other ideas?

Small update: Despite my intelligence, good looks and vast experience I use Google sometimes. To my surprise this file turns out to be a Windows one. Here is someone who is much happier, and since it is some way in my line of thinking I'll quote it, but you might take my previous advice as well:

"- Open up msconfig.exe > Manage startup programs.
    - Disable ALL Realtek entries
    - Close msconfig.exe
    - Right-click on the speaker icon > Audio devices > Speakers (properties)
    - Go to the enhancements tab
    - Check the box to disable all audio enhancements
    - Close the menu
    - Right-click on the speaker icon > Recording devices
    - Disable all your microphones (yeah..., the actual problem seems to come
    from voice inputs rendering..)
    - Close the menu
    - Restart your computer"

  • Smart feed not working correctly

    hello,
the smart feed are not working correctly in this course page :

    I don't understand why...

C, sorry…I read your posts out of order. I see that you have links to your smart groups after all. My apologies.
It's as you say, the course pages load up, but I don't see anything in the smart groups. Just thinking out loud here…maybe the search criteria don't genuinely match anything on your site? Perhaps there are actual matches, but you've hidden content with a new credential?…I accessed both pages using the "Unauthenticated" and "All" credentials. My last/craziest guess is that it has something to do with localization…français versus anglais?

  • Smart Sharpen not Working in CC 2014

Recently I upgraded from CC to CC 2014.  Since then I can't get Smart Sharpen to work.  Lens and motion blur don't work at all.  Sometimes when I choose Gaussian blur it works other times not.
It's not just me, a friend who has it installed on two computers can't make it work either.
    Any ideas?

In order to preview .php pages locally, you need a local testing server (Wamp, Xampp, Mamp).  Is yours properly defined in DW CC?  See screenshots.

  • Smart Actions not working properly after software update

My Razr updated 2 days ago and since then my Smart Actions are not working properly.
I have my Work action set to turn the volume down when I'm at a certain GPS.  It shows that "Work" is active, but doesn't turn the volume down.
Also, there are times (since I've owned the phone) that it will not connect to the network after coming off a Wifi Connection without rebooting the phone.  I took it into a Verizon store and they did a hard reset, and that fixed it for a time, but it started doing it again.
    Any help appreciated.

Hi mcclainkb, Let's make sure your phone works as you expect it to! Have you tried removing the Smart Action and setting it back up again?  Are your other GPS services working as normal?  After the hard reset performed in the store did you install all of the same application that you had before?
    Thank you,
