Cpu socket looks strange-can be cause of boot problem?

Actual question: can cpu socket like on attached picture cause boot problems?
tinypic.com/r/1pxnxs/6
(Some pins look strange while I am sure I did not do anything which can cause that)
(Sorry was not able attach pic, so shared on external site - blame android?)
I got problem with booting msi g33m motherboard, I tried various ways and was able to boot couple times, but after reboot the problem returns. When disassembly components for nth time, I noticed strange hole in cpu socket, so I wonder if it can be reason for boot problems? Currently fans run in ÷half speed when nothing connected to mb, if I connect gpu or sata drive, fans are pulsing, and led near power button on tower is blinking, but nothing more happens.

The pin(s) are bent it seems and can be carefully bent back to proper alignment most of the time using tweezers and or tiny jewelers/eyeglass screwdriver.
Yes the problem you describe can definitely be caused by poor pin contact with the pads on the CPU. Depending on what pins are bent or make poor contact there could be many different kinds of problems. In fact many more on newer ones with memory controller and other controllers in the CPU that used to be in the northbridge chip. If you or a friend, family member can't bend pin(s) back into alignment then possibly you could have a local jeweler or watch repair shop do it for you.

• Color box in toolbox looks strange + can only color in 1 color

I am having 2 issues and assume they are related.
1) Everytime I draw with the pencil tool, it fills in with pink and a black stroke (yes, the fill stroke box is unchecked). This happens no matter what colors are chose as fill/stroke.Afterwards I can change the colors but I would like to be able to draw plain strokes without it filling in pink every time...
2) As you can see in attached image, the color box looks different than usual.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You have fill and a stroke applied to the layer so now every time you draw on that layer.
In the appearance panel double click the layer item and then you will see the stroke and pink fill make the fill none and the stroke none as well or delete the stroke and the fill and apply the stroke to the path.

• Can software cause a hardware problem.

When I sync Act! (a database on Windows7 Boot Camp) to the internet main database, my MacBook Pro overheats. Any suggestions?
BTW, the fan does not appear to come on, but it only happens when I sync. Any help is appreciated.

You should try the restore. Remember to back-up first, or you'll lose all your data. If the restore doesn't work, then it could be a hardware issue and you should see if you can get it fixed at an Apple Store.
Or you can live without your phone being able to connect to Wi-Fi. Or get a new phone.

• Can't install arch, boot problem?

I thought that I give Arch a go on my desktop computer after checking that everything works under linux (using ubuntu-live-cd).
So I downloaded the 64bit netinstall .iso and burned it to a disc. And when I tried to boot the disc I came to a grub prompt. So I thought that something could be wrong with my systemdisk (previously used in raid0 as systemdisk for windows). So I booted the ubuntu-live-cd once again and installed it on the hard drive without any problems. And I put the arch disc back in and tried to boot, but I came to the grub prompt once again. I found a older release (2009.2 64 netinstall) that I've used on my laptop before, so I know that the CD is good. But I came to the grub prompt once again. So then I took the 2009.8 disc and tried to boot my fathers computer with it, and it worked.
Then I thought I'd give USB-install a go. So I downloaded the 2009.8 64bit netinstall .img file and put it on a USB-drive using unetbootin in ubuntu. I booted the USB-drive and I came to the blue grub windows, then I selected to install archlinux with sata. The info about the kernel comes up, and then it just freezes. So I've come as far as booting the installer, but it freezes right away. I've also tried the 2009.8 64 core .img in case the netinstall was missing some important files.
I've tried to remove my usb-dac & soundcard if they conflict in some way, but without success. I've tried to remove all but one memorystick without any luck. Everything but my nic on my motherboard is disabled. Sata is set to ACHI in bios.
My computer:
Processor: Intel e8400
Memory: 4x2gb Mushkin Redline
Graphic card: Nvidia 9400gt
Soundcard: ESI Maya 44
USB-Dac: Red Wine Audio Isabellina HPA
Motherboard: ASUS p5e deluxe (x48 chipsed, marvell nic, IHC 9 sata-controller)
Hard drive: Corsair p64 SSD
I can't understand why it won't boot properly when both Ubuntu and OpenSolaris boots just fine from live-cd. The hard drive and the dvd reader are the only sata things that are plugged in.

Grub is known to make problems on some systems, when used as to boot from CD. You could try using the alternate ISO with the isolinux bootloader. You can find it on your favorite mirror as archlinux-2009.08-netinstall-x86_64-isolinux.iso

• Can someone tell me the problem with my Firefox browser?

every time i try to open it, it doesnt work and it looks like this..
http://prntscr.com/4yt5zx
Yes i already restarted my computer, i also uninstalled firefox and re installed it.

Getting a black screen after updating to Firefox 33 can be caused by a problem with hardware acceleration in Firefox.
You can start Firefox in [[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]] by holding down the Shift/Options key (Safe Mode disables hardware acceleration).
You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.
*https://support.mozilla.org/kb/upgrade-graphics-drivers-use-hardware-acceleration
Note that there is a Firefox 33.0.1 release scheduled that addresses some hardware acceleration related crashes.

These are tech forums for people using iMacs and experiencing problems. Frankly, I'm not sure what you are looking for (use of punctuation and spell checker is helpful as well), but if it isn't related to a Mac, you might try to post in a different forum.

• Laptop CPU sockets & Core i7-920XM

What CPU socket is used in the Satellite A660-BT2N22? (PGA 989?)
Would replacing the current i3-350M with a i7-920XM CPU be straight forward? Any conflicts or problems?
I have looked through technical specs of Toshibas laptops but haven't been able to find the socket(s) that is used in their laptops. I am guessing it's the PGA 989, but can't verify. (I haven't received any email responses to my inquiry) If so, that socket supports the Core i3-350M used in laptops as well as Core i7-920 XM CPU. If that is the case, wouldn't swapping out the CPU be pretty straightforward, at least regarding any possible compatibility issues? Or would there be other hardware considerations and possible conflicts? The laptop is a Satellite A660-BT2N22 with a Core i3-350M CPU.

You have not specified if it is the CPU or GPU that these temperatures are reported for. In either case 98C is way too high for CPU or GPU. The machine may work ok but the heat stress may significantly reduce the life of your computer. What mode have you set HP Coolsense to? I would recommend 'Performance' to keep those temps down. If its your CPU thats heating up drastically then try unistalling programs that you don't need. If that does not help, you can type 'config.sys' in the Windows command prompt and make sure no unecessary processes are running by disabling them from running on startup. Please note that disabling important Windows services can crash your computer so only do this if you are familiar with the Windows environment. If its the GPU that heating then you can check the ATI graphics driver setting to make sure it is running in balanced mode as opposed to performance mode. My HP Dv6-3015tx was very tame that the temps for CPU were between 50-65C and GPU never exceeded 65C with a cooling pad. I would say those are good temperatures for a laptop. I was interested in picking up the DV6-6000 series as a replacement but changed my mind because the central cooling fan did not have a direct air intake at the bottom. With my old DV6-3015 I just placed the machine so that one of the cooling fans in the cooling pad was blowing right into the laptops cooling fan air intake located on the upper right side of the machine directly feeding air into the machines cooling system. This reduced the machines temps by 10C under stress so I could game on for hours without breaking a sweat. After looking at the new DV6-6000 series I changed my mind about getting it because there is no direct inlet to boost the built in cooling system. Thereby you are at the mercy of HP's coolsense. Hope this helps.

No you can't do that. Look here for supported CPU by your board: http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=prodcpusupport&prod_no=159&maincat_no=1&cat2_no=&cat3_no=#menu

• Bent Pins - CPU socket -Warranty Issue

Good day,
I hope this forum and it's experts can shed some light on a problem we have.
The situation:
We bought a Socket 1150 H81M-P32L Motherboard with power supply and CPU (with heat-sink & fan), the previous board died.
We installed the CPU, then the motherboard and power supply, tested all,ok.
The PC ran fir two days, no problem. Upon the 3rd day the PC was down, tried restarting but no power.
Investigated, tested the power supply-ok, the board was dead, no lights on board, no posting, dead, like a doornail.
We removed the board as is and took it to the supplier, they tested, still dead, removed the CPU and said there was bent pins on the CPU socket and they will not replace under warranty, and this is where the problem comes in.
Maybe the experts can tell me if:
The pins was bent from the getgo, will/could it have worked for two days?
The pins is bent will it cause the board to be completely dead?
(-see attached photos)
Please enlighted us with your thoughts and expert advice

Un-hid your attachments so everyone can see them now.
Is it possible? Sure, I would definitely say that it is possible.
Is it likely to happen? No, I would say it generally is not likely to happen.
The CPU sockets are very fragile now. And those pins can very easily become bent. I would wager that installing the CPU is probably the most important part of building a PC anymore.
That being said, there probably isn't a whole lot that you can do about it. You could try and do an RMA with MSI, but I'm honestly not sure how well that will go.

• Primary Key - non sequenced - can this cause problems??

We are seeing some strange explain plans for some queries in our 10.2.0.3 database. It just seems to me that Oracle is not using the index(es) that we expect it to use. In our discussions it was brought up that the data in the Primary Key fields in our tables are not sequential at all. I am wondering if this can be causing some issues with Oracle and it's explain plans.
Can the fact that our PK fields are not sequential be causing some issues with Oracle and the optimizer?

Things to consider:

I've copied a .NET application from an older 2008 server running IIS 7.0.600.16386 to a newer 2008 R2 server running 7.5.7600.16385. The .NET framework version is 4.0.30319. I've setup an application pool and copied the wwwroot directory.
I've checked for nested web.config files and I've been reading a lot about converting the site to an application. The older server running the application is still up and running and the configurations look identical. If I convert the site to an

• Itunes is displaying in Japanese , all th fonts look strange. Just upgraded

Athlon Windows XP
Just upgraded to 7.02 and all text looks strange and music looks to be for the Japan market and price of download in in Yen. All my setting in iTunes are for English.
What can I do?

ME TOO!
At first I thought it was cute, "oh look now I can listen to cool J-pop bands like Bump of Chicken and BoA", but it won't go away. Where is my itms that I know and love.
And who wants to pay up to 200 yen for a song? That's like two dollars.
Plus I can't read Japanese.
Is everyone's iTunes like this right now?

• Worldclock widget looks strange!

hi,
i got my new 15" PB last week and it rocks! But my Worldclock widget looks strange. The clock case (in the lower half where it gets darker) shows little grey artefacts. All other Widgets show up correctly. Any idea how i can resolve this?
thx!

hmm, seems that this issue is normal, a friend of mine has the same with his 15" PB.

• Tightening my CPU cooler on X58 Pro-E causes me to lose 2gb of RAM memory

I have a Corsair Dominator 6gb kit for my X58 Pro-e. I noticed yesterday that I was only getting 4gb and did a lot of research to find the problem. Turns out that when I loosened my Corsair H50 cooler, I would get 6gb but my temperatures would be higher. The tightest I can adjust my CPU H50 cooler to allow me to get all 6gb would increase my temperatures from 4-6c. Not a huge difference but I havent even overclocked my machine yet.
I checked for bent pins but it seems to be fine. Should I RMA this board? The problem is that I replaced the northbridge cooler and cut the pipe connecting the NB and SB while I was at it. Did that void my warranty?

Quote
MSI informed me that they found nothing wrong with the board. This is ridiculous.
It is not that ridiculous. The "connection" between the board's socket pins and the CPU's contact pads is a very sensible one. A different heatsink/cooler will exert a slightly different pressure on the CPU which could make the symptoms dissappear. I recently talked to a user that tried three different heatsink on a P55 based board (the boxed Intel heatsink and two third party heatsinks). He had no problems with two of them, however on of the third-party heatsinks yielded memory problems for some reason. The question in this 1:2 comparison is: What part is to blame?
In addition to that: There are two parts involved in the connection: the CPU Socket and the processor. Maybe it is your CPU that reacts "over-sensible" in this particular scenario. Have you thought about that?
