CPU Uses at Least 50% of its Power when I Watch Movies Online.
Whenever I watch anything online (be it Youtube, Hulu, etc) my computer shows that I am using at least 50% of my processing power (usually much more). This only happens when I watch something that I assume is in Flash. I could run Photoshop, Garage Band and Final Cut Pro simultaneously and not get anywhere near that number. But with only Safari open, if I am watching something online, the computer is definitely working overtime. (I get the same result in Firefox and Camino.)
I did the most recent update which I think had a Flash upgrade the problem remains. The reason it worries me so is that when the CPU's usage percentage climbs, as does the core temperature-- sometimes around 200 degrees Fahrenheit. I can't imagine it being safe to allow my computer to run at the temp for any extended period of time. Equally troublesome is the fan. If I am watching something online, the fan is running, constantly.
Has anyone else had this problem? I know there is a program that allows me to control the fans, but I'm hesitant to use it because I figure that if the fan is running, it must be needed. Any advice?
Thank you in advance.
Vincent,
When you play a DVD, what does your CPU use go up to?
I just did a couple of tests...even though this is an older G5 it has a recent (modified) ATI graphics card, hardware accelerated and Quartz extreme enabled.
I show approx 70% (out of 200) CPU use when playing a Youtube video and 45% to 50% when playing a DVD...which points as much to Leopard's graphics routines as it does to Flash video, at least in my case.
Flash must be optimized for PC/Win because Youtube CPU use is practically nil.

Hi I want to buy an unlocked iPhone 5 in the Middle East. I want to know if I will be able to use my iPhone and all its applications when we go back to live in the US for long term.
Thank youApple Online Store sells unlocked iPhone in the following countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium (French, Dutch), Brazil, Canada (English, French), China, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong (English, Chinese), Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland (French, German), Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and United States.
You can probably be absolutely sure any other source will be carrier locked
It also appears that only Zain offer unlocking (of all the ME carriers ) in Jordan and Bahrain
A ME iPhone 5 ( A1429 GSM )will not work on US LTE when you return -
What can I use to watch movies online with no use of iTunes
What can I downloadto watch movies online with no use of iTunes
It depends upon what sites you want to watch them on. Do they have their own apps ? If they don't and the sites are flash-based (which isn't supported on the iPad) then you could try browser apps such as Skyfire, iSwifter, Puffin and Photon which 'work' on some sites.

Can Apple TV use the balance from my iTunes Store when renting a movie? I couldnt find the option so I believe it will charge my credit card it made me add to the iTunes Store settings.
For the avoidance of doubt, you must have enough of a balance to pay for the rental in full, it won't take the balance and the difference by credit card. If you don't have enough of a balance it will all be taken by credit card.

PREMIER CS5 USE 100% CPU POWER WHEN EXPORT
hi,
My computer data is as follows:
OS: WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE 64 BIT
PREMIER VER :CS5 5.03
CPU: INTEL i7 950 3.07 ghz
MOTHERBOARD: ASUS P6X58D-E
RAM: G.SKILL 12 GB 1333 DDR 3
GPU: GIGABYTE GTX 470 1280MB DDDR5
BOOT HARD DRIVE: 60 GB SSD SATA 2
SECOND HARD DRIVE: 2X1TB WD BLACK USENIG MARVEL YPKON RAID 0
My question is
When I export a movie to FLV or AVI I notice that the CPU uses all 100% power
Must say it does not happen all the time
But often happens
Is that a problem should be normal?
If no what can be done
tanksWhat type of projects are you exporting, and what are the settings? How much "effect" and how many layers are you adding in?
I ran some tests over the weekend (including an update of PPBM5 for my machine) and noticed only about 50% of the CPU being used. I was exporting HDV sequences with NEAT noise reduction to Blu-ray MPEG2s.
We have similar systems which is why this caught my attention.

Macbook Pro "not charging" during high CPU use
My Macbook Pro Does not charge when I am running several small programs (or one large one). My charger will change from the orange "charging" light to the green "not charging" light a few seconds after I begin running a program or set of programs that have a combined use of over 30% User CPU. Once I close enough programs to drop below about 30% User CPU, the light switches back to orange and begins to charge again.
This is system information for my Macbook pro's power when it IS charging;

<Edited by Host>How's the light on your power cord, on the receiving (your Mac) side? If it shows green, don't sweat, it means it is charging alright, no matter what the battery meter in Windows says: battery management is largely firmware-run on a MacBook Pro, since it's not exactly supposed to run another OS than Mac OS X. If the light shows yellow/orange, then for the sake of experiment, let it run until your battery dies. If it does at all.

The weird thing is, it'll still work: I can click & type stuff, change tabs, copy and paste tabs etc, but the browser will show nothing but blackness. It's not my computer, Firefox is the only program I encounter the problem with. And it only happens when I connect my HP laptop to its power source. Does anyone else encounter this problem, or know how to solve it?
Hello,
Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please check for updates for your graphics driver by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
[[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]
[[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
Thank you. -
Hi, I recently installed Animate 3.0. Unlike 2.0, my cpu use goes very high doing the most basic of things like double clicking into a symbol to edit. I have a 1 year old high spec laptop with Intel i7, 8Gb RAM, GTX 765M graphics and Windows 8.1.
No other application causes such high CPU use.
It also takes the stage area at least 0.5 seconds to reload itself after each save. If I am several levels deep into nested symbols, on save, the stage will display the top level and then repaint to my current level.
Has anyone else experienced this?
Cheers,
PatrickYes. It is a HUGE resource hog. I am running win7 64bit with pleanty of HD space, a high-end gaming graphics card, and 16GB ram. It takes a lot of time to enter a symbol (sometimes more than 5 seconds), more time to save, and sometimes brings my computer to a standstill for over a minute. Oh, and Edge also crashes completely on occasion when trying to save or enter a symbol... I hope Adobe fixes this, but I am a Flash developer moving to Edge, so I expect poor-preformance with memory and cpu. Works better if you don't test in firefox. Also exit completely out of the code editor before saving, that helps the save problems.

When an iPod is changing, Is its power supplied by the adapter or by the battery?
When an iPod is changing, Is its power supplied by the adapter or by the battery?
The power is always supplied by the battery, just the charger supplies power to the battery faster than the ipod uses it.

Hi, my MacBook Air is not working anymore if it's not connected with the power cable. It's pretty new so I can't imagine that the battery is dead already. Why can't I use my MacBook Air without the power cable even though I charged it for hours?
Please take the Mac to Apple store to have it checked out.
