CPU wont boost to maximum

I have a HP PAVILION DV6-6C46EO that have a cpu that runn at 2,5 ghz and shold boost up to 3,1 ghz when needed.
But when i try to run beenchmark test it only goes up to 2,5 ghz.
EDIT: got it working had to turn coolsense of then i started working.

Can you let me know how you solved it.  I have an A8M2N-LA with a CPU rated at 6000 but CMOS and computer properties only list it at 3000.  The Specs say maximum CPU is Athlon 64 X2 up to 5000+

Alrighty so for awhile now My Hp cpu wont connect to any monitor, I've used HDMI,VGA,DVI and the monitor only says "Monitor Going to Sleep"
Ive tried to restart it by unplugging and holding down the power button, getting a new cable,I listen in for any beeps from the cpu but nothin the fans are working good. I need to get alot of personnal files, family pictures, and Web Projects out of it. I've checked for anything inside to be loose, everything seems to be in place and finely put. CAN SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME!!

It could be that the video card has failed or if it is using onboard graphics and they have failed.  If you do not wish to  spend any funds to solve the problem, one can remove the hard drive and connect it to another computer to retrieve the files needed.
If help is needed to try to solve the monitor problem, a model number for the PC is needed.

  • MSI GE70 2OE - turbo boost doesnt work ?

    Hey all,
im confused of intel turbo boost technology.
I think my notebook wont boost up and I dont know why. My bios is locked so I can not do any overclocking ...
I dont know why but i can not install intel extreme tuning (dont launch when istalled ...)
My power plan settings: maximum performance (100% CPU in detailed settings)
CPU still shows max 2,4 GHZ (in HWinfo) here's the screen:
Also, my question is: how to enable turbo boost when my bios is locked ?

    Thank you for answer.
Yes you're right but it isnt my case.
I have already solved it. Problem was here:
battery and power cable (both together) must be connected in notebook at same time !!
Otherwise turbo boost will be permanently off. So, not only battery or power cable affects this turbo effect,.. but both of this things must be plugged in notebook at same time ... :/ damn

  • High Temps low CPU usage.

I bought a  HP ENVY TouchSmart 15-j063cl Notebook PC (ENERGY STAR) last November and have been experiencing high temps and loud fans at very little CPU usage or strain. When I am streaming video often times I will hear the fan speed up every once and awhile and the TZ00 will be at about 60 degrees Celsius. I recently tested the system by playing Arma 3 on minimum graphics with shadows disabled and within  a minute of playtime the fan was blaring and the TZ00 was at just under 80 degrees Celsius. I did this test with the laptop elevated on a metal stand leaving the main exhaust completely clear and the majority of the bottom also clear. During the test the CPU usage was at about 20% maxing at 30% and I was getting about 35 FPS.
(While I was typing this TZ00 was above 50 degrees celsuis)-10minutes after closing arma

I might sound weird but sometimes CPU runs hot in a loop. If you check in Task manager, it peaks at 3.2 GHz and won't come down. This situation is because of bios problems and HP won't confirm this problems as it is their way. I solved by reducing the processor maximum power to 80% in power options. From then, CPU wont peak itself as there is a limit and won't stay in the loop. Hot air coming from left vent is solved.
But if the chasi is becoming hot while air from vents is less hot than metal chasi, then I think its CPU fan problem. I prefer you to clean the vents by disassembling the laptop though nearest HP service or local service guy. Just clean the CPU fan and coolant pipes running around the CPU and GPU. Im not an HP expert but I found these are the issues for over-heating. Remember 60 degree is considered normal temp for i7-4700 processor. But, if you feel its hotter then check it once. Don't hesitate.

  • 2 problems, video drivers, and cpu underclocked a22m

hi, I have an a22m 2628-RSU, first off, whatever OS I install the cpu runs at 697mhz, the bios says it is an 850mhz (the cpu it self says 850/256 meaning 850mhz 256k cache) I even replaced the CPU with an identical one, and still 697mhz.
the bios has the cpu set to performance not battery life. I have the same problem with an a21m which is a 700mhz, but only runs at 547mhz.
problem 2, I have installed windows 7 RC (7100) everything works great except it does not like the video card, same happend with vista. It says drivers are installed, but I know they are not functioning. 3d screen savers like the 3d text which work flawlessly in windows xp, tell me that my video card does not support them, in both windows vista, and 7.
thank you in advanced for any help.

    Welcome to the forum!
You have to push the machine pretty hard (open 10 Firefox windows and run Photoshop at the same time) to get the CPU to work at maximum speed. That is one of the ideas behind Intel's SpeedStep that your A22m has.
Graphic cards as old as yours are not supported by Vista or W7.
    Hope this helps.

  • (Can't Be Solved) Flash uses too much CPU

    Hello all,
In the process of setting up my first Arch system, I currently experiment with OpenBox, and have tried using Flash (flashplugin) under Chromium, both latest version from the repos.
I tried watching a 720P video on youtube (Big Buck Bunny), but it was a complete failure.
After some searching, I disabled hardware decoding using
    /etc/adobe/mms.cfg
Next, I completely disabled the Laptop Mode Tools daemon to make sure no powersaving was in play (and rebooted of course).
I also set the CPU governor to "performance" (though using cpupower, the CPU does scale to maximum under "ondemand").
All of the above did not help - CPU usage still reach ~80% when playing the 720P video unmaximized (and no dropped frames), and I get lots of dropped frames when going full screen.
Is it really what I can expect from flashplugin under Arch or have I missed something (hopefully)?
My CPU is Core 2 Duo P8600 which is more than capable of handling such videos (for reference only, software decoding of the same video under Windows 7 hover around 30% CPU usage (also Chromium and Flash, different Chromium version)).
    Thanks, Adam.

    OK, back from Ubuntu.
Did a fresh Ubuntu 12.04 LTS installation, and just installed Chromium and Flash from the software center.
Chromium version is 18.0.1025.151 (Arch has 19.0.1084.52).
Flash version is 11.2 r202 (Arch has 11.2.202.235, which I suppose is the same).
Also tried built-in Firefox and using proprietary drivers (still pure software decoding and rendering).
Under all scenarios, behavior was the same as in Arch - ridiculously high CPU usage comparing to Windows.
I guess Flash under Linux really is THAT bad, perhaps this new "chrome-only" flash will behave better (and will most definitely kept up-to-date in the AUR or so).
(I've already tried the currently available pepper flash from the AUR, with no better results).
Can't see much more that can be done in regards to direct flash rendering, really annoying.
Might try some sort of flash-video-automatic-replacement-with-vlc-or-something-like-that.
    Adam.
    PS.
My 20 minutes with Ubuntu were enough - Arch is definitely the way to go, even for a pretty green Linux user such as myself (have some background, though).

  • Hyperthreaded CPU Scheduling via Hyper-V

I searched forums and documents (and books) all over for this answer pertaining to Hyper-V.
When a guest VM is assigned 2 virtual CPUs with 100% reservation on a Hyper-V host with a processor featuring hyper-threading, does the guest VM receive guaranteed access to two
physical cores or two logical cores?  For a thought experiment, on a single socket 2-core processor with hyper threading (4 logical cores), from my understanding Hyper-V takes physical core 0 by default leaving a single
physical core for VMs.  What would be the result of configuring a VM with 2 virtual CPUs on this host with 100% reservation?  Would you be allowed to?  Would the vCPU scheduling be across two logical processors or would the VM fail to start
because it requires two physical cores?

    Hi Nickmeister,
"So,a virtual machine’s CPU count means the maximum number of threads that it is allowed to operate on physical cores at any given time. I can’t set that virtual machine to have more than two vCPUs because the host only has two CPUs. Therefore,
there is nowhere for a third thread to be scheduled. But, if I had a 24-core system and left this VM at 2 vCPUs, then it would only ever send a maximum of two threads up to the hypervisor for scheduling. Other threads would be kept in the guest’s thread scheduler
(the supervisor), waiting their turn. "
Based on my understanding , we can image the procedure of physical cpu processing  can be divided to alot of
time slices ,  more than one thread can be scheduled/switched to be processed by a processor/core .
Hope the following article is helpful to you regarding to CPU reserve in hyper-v :

  • Are we going to get a speed boost in the Spring?

According to PC Pro ( http://www.pcpro.co.uk/news/broadband/372577/bt-to-offer-300mbits-sec-fibre-on-demand ) we are going to be offered: "BT is set to boost the maximum download speed of FTTC lines from 40Mbits/sec to 80Mbits/sec this spring".  Can anyone verify this data?

    Spenty wrote:
Be very surprised if they charge extra, hardly anyone will pay extra if it's £5+ more a month. So they'd only make more from new customers.
Who can tell till there is an announcement, but this was spotted on ISpreview:
In addition Plusnet has also been taking part in BT's trial of 80Mbps (20Mbps uploads) FTTC (Fibre-to-the-Cabinet) technology, which will soon be made available to almost 40% of the UK. It's understood that PlusNet's technical trial has been running for two weeks and will be opened up to existing customers "from early February".
Dave Tomlinson, Plusnet's Product Team, said:
"We have so far seen maximum sync speeds of 80Mbps down and 20Mbps up with speedtest results coming in at a maximum of around 76Mbps. As with other DSL technologies the up to 80Mbps speeds are distance dependant, although it is distance between property and cabinet that counts rather than property and exchange. As such we have seen sync speeds vary from the mid 50s all the way up to the full 80Mbps, with a mean speed of about 68Mbps."
Those taking part in PlusNet's January FTTC trial will receive the faster service for no additional charge until 30th April. This suggests that Plusnet might be planning to offer a separate 80Mbps service at extra cost.
So it looks like part of the BT empire might be looking at charging a premium for it.

  • Calculate Average and Maximum of KeyFigure values by Date.

    Hi Experts,
There are certain KeyFigures such as CPU Utilization, Memory Allocated, etc in BEx Analyzer coming from InfoCube by Date (0CALDAY).
The End-user is interested in looking at Average CPU Utilization / Day and Maximum CPU Utilization / Day as different Columns.

Could anyone please help with this?

I'm having the same issue, how did you solved this with a Formula in BEX?
I need have one key figure with two behaviors average and sum, is it possible?

  • Can anybody help me to understand the CPU usage logs

    Hello community,
I try to find the faulty machine in our network, but I don`t understand the logfiles. We have many servers which normally work very fast and reliable.
But sometimes we have such a huge cpu usage drain on our server. Nobody knows where it comes from, so I looked in the vsphere web client and looked in the cpu usage logs.
Following you can see two pictures. One is from the main host. It shows only a cpu usage of a maximum of 45 %.
When I look on the vmware machines I can see a cpu usage of more than 150%.
This is something I completely not understand. How is it possible that the main host machine has only a 45% cpu usage and the clients are exploding?
I don`t have set a cpu usage limit in our resource pool.
The next thing is. When I look on the vmmachines, I can not identify the faulty machine. Because when one machine increases the cpu usage many others increase too. Whatever why.
Can somebody explain me the pictures below please:
    Thank you for your time
    Paul

You don't have any need to understand this code. The complication is due to the registry needing a fixed objectID.
You just need to know the methods of java.rmi.registry.LocateRegistry class. This allows you to start an RMI Registry inside your JVM and give it any TCP port number you like.

  • H77MA-G43 Intel Turbo boost question.

    Hi,
so I've recently bought a MSI H77MA-G43 board to fit in my Intel i7 3770 (non K).
My question is that when I use some hw monitor to show which frequency my CPU is running, it is almost always running all 4 cores at 3.7Ghz. Even when I put load just on 1 core, all 4 cores rise up to 3.7Ghz. AFAIK if I run single threaded app it should turbo boost one core to 3.9Ghz right? Is it a problem or is this normal?
    Thank you

Might be, here is the answer from Martin (creator of HWiNFO) about my CPU.

  • MacBook is throttling CPU

    Hi there,
i've got a MacBook Late07 and i discovered that if it runs under full load (encoding, etc.) the CPU becomes very hot. It goes up to 100°C very fast, then it lowers the CPU-frequency and voltage, to protect from overheating (Fan is blowing an maximum speed (6200rpm). Is this normal behaviour?
I can't believe that, because it means, that i can't reallly use my 2,2 GHz CPU over a longer time (longer than than a few seconds).
    Thx for your help.

Well, then, that seems to be your answer. The computer is functioning normally and the temperature rises dramatically when you stress the CPU and GPU to maximum loads.
I don't see anything in what you've described thus far that suggests any problem. So, all I can add is that if this is an unsatisfactory answer for you that you take the computer in for repair to determine if there is a hardware issue. You can also try running the hardware diagnostics to see if anything pops up:
How to run hardware diagnostics for an Intel Mac
Boot from your original OS X Installer Disc One that came with your computer. After the chime press and hold down the "D" key until the diagnostic screen appears. Run the extended tests for a minimum of two or three hours. If any error messages appear note them down as you will need to report them to the service tech when you take the computer in for repair.
    Some "common" error indicators:
    SNS - sensor error
    MEM - memory error
HDD - hard disk drive error
    MOT - fan error

  • Turbo boost always enabled. Help.

    Hey all,
Recently I reformatted my Thinkpad X220T i7. Ever since, the Turbo Boost has been enabled and I can not turn it off. Even if I move the bar in the Power Manager all the way to the right, the CPU, Turbo Boost is still enabled.
I tried looking in BIOS but I do not see an option to turn it off.
To fix this, I went into the Power Options and went to Processor Power Management and changed the max speed to 99% and that turned off the Turbo Boost.
But I would like my laptop to go back to normal where I can just press that Fan Button in power manager and then slide the bar all the way to the left.
I am updated on all drivers, software, and BIOS settings.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Intel Turbo Boost is very useful in certain situations, especially if you’re doing “heavy” computational work. Intel Turbo Boost Technology is usually enabled by default. Once enabled, Intel Turbo Boost Technology works automatically under operating system control.
I doubt the only method for disabling turbo boost is the one you have performed.
