Cq5.4 vs cq5.5 on the same environment

Can we run both cq5.4 and cq5.5 together?

If you have multiple publisher instances, you could take half of them offline and upgrade them (and your author instance).  Then, when this is finished, you bring back up your author instance and your upgraded publish instances, and then take the remaining half of your publish instances offline and upgrade them.  During this part of the upgrade process, the replication agents for the offline publish instances should queue up any activations so that when they are upgraded and brought back online they will receive any activations that they missed while down.  If you're working with a single publisher instance, of course, this procedure will not work for you.  Nor if you have multiple publishers but have too much traffic to take 50% down.  If you had, for example, 4 publish instances, you could update one at a time, but you'd be in a situation where some client requests will hit a v5.4 instance and some will hit a v5.5 instance and whether or not you can work with that is up to you to decide... but I'd heartily recommend pausing all replication agents for the duration of the upgrade if you take that route.

    Hi,
    As you can see in the help link below:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/45/2f873d1ca96d7be10000000a114a6b/content.htm
    There is a trust system and the trusted systems. One system can trust in many other systems. You have just to configure it exporting and importing the certificates as explained in the link.

  • Multiple shared services installs in the same environment?

    In IOP 11.1.2 and beyond, shared services handles user authentication, to take advantage of Active Directory.
    Can you install EPM shared services on 2 nodes in the same environment (failover in case one goes down)?
    Is this possible or recommended?
    Thank you.

    I posted this message also in the Forum: Server & Storage Systems: Administration - General : Installation.
    I'll also double-check the install documentation. A quick google of "EPM Shared Services" and some choice keywords revealed a link to this:
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/epm-hss-active-active-clusters-wp-1-132647.pdf
    Note that one of the instructions in the active-active-clusters white paper is to install shared services on two nodes, to prevent a single point of failure.
    This location http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation includes EPM DR instructions.
    Highly recommended reading.
    I apologize to the group for wasting the bandwidth on this question.
    Thank you.

  • Feasibility for a new production system in the same environment

    Dear friends,
    Our management has come up with a requirement of expansion of SAP environment to cover up users in a different country for their francise over there. The options we are considering are below:
    1. Implementing a whole new setup ( ECC, EP,BI, PI,Trex).
    2. Expanding the lease lines between the sites in both the countries and providing access to the present setup itself with enhancement in the current hardware configuration.
    or is it a good practice to keep a new Production system in the other country and add a new delivery route for the new production system within the current transport route ? How the license part may be taken care in these cases ?
    Your suggestions are welcomed.
    Many thanks,
    SUJIT

    Hi Sujit,
    The answer to this question really depends on whether the new country is going to share much of the same configuration with some tailoring to local laws and requirements.  If the system is going to be the same, then there is now reason to deploy a new system unless you are reaching technical limits for hardware.  For ease of management and usage, then having one system is preferred.  You can then upgrade your network to cope with the increased load and hardware as required.
    Hope this helps,
    Graham

  • BPC NW and Ms clients in the same environment

    Hi,
    A simple question... is it possible to install clients for BPC NW and MS in the same computer?
    Thanx
    Velázquez

    Hi,
    If you install both the clients on the same machine, there will be some DLL conflicts and conflicts in the local folder for BPC. So, you will face a lot of problems in working on them. I had tried once and faced lot of issues.
    Hope this helps.

  • How can I create a second apple id (without credit card) for my daughter and share it on the same environment?

    Hello, I found some suggestions regarding how to create an account without credit card details for a child, but I'm not shore if it would work harmlessly.
    The following points describe my situation:
    I access the iTunes store from my MacBook Pro, while my 15 year old daughter will access iTunes from her iPad.
    Every time she needs a free download I have to enter my Apple ID in through her iPad.
    When it comes to purchase an app or music for her iPad I do it from my mac and then synchronize with her iPad.
    This is what I’m looking for:
    I would like her to have her personal apple ID that don’t require a credit card so she would be able to log and download the free apps and updates
    I also would like to purchase her software by using my Apple ID linked to my credit card
    I wouldn’t want her to lose the software and on her iPad once logged with a different Apple ID
    Last, I would appreciate to not see the apps downloaded on her iPad appearing on my iPhone: is there a way to have a selective destination for downloaded apps?
    Thank you in advance

    You can create a new account without giving credit card details by following the instructions on this page : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
    And she can then use that account for free items. If she redownloads an item on her iPad (and similarly on your Mac) from an account (either your existing account or a new one) then she may tie the iPad to that account for 90 days (so she won't be able to redownload items from the other account until those 90 days have completed) : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4627
    Also all content is tied to the account that downloaded it, so only your account will be able to download updates to the apps that were bought/downloaded by your account.
    The apps will only automatically download on your phone if you have automatic downloads turned on in Settings > iTunes & App Store on it.

  • AppleScript: How to let AppleScript use the same environment as Bash shell does?

    Howdy!
    I can run AppleScript from Bash shell.
    I can also run Bash shell from AppleScript.
    So my question is when I run a Bash shell script from AppleScript, I am hit with a path problem.
    Suppose my AppleScript is under ~user/a.scpt. I want my AppleScript to know its current path (i.e. ~user/a.scpt).
    So a quick snippet test in my AppleScript shows that AppleScript always begins from the root directory:
    do shell script "pwd"
    So let's do a workaround AppleScript like this:
    tell application "Finder" to set currentDir to (target of front Finder window) as text
    do shell script "cd " & (quoted form of POSIX path of currentDir) & "; pwd"
    This works. However, this approach poses a potential danger.
    Suppose when I run this AppleScript for a bash script, I inadvertently clicked other Finder Window. That would result in execution of bash script in that newly clicked Finder Window, resulting in a big mess.
    Is there a better way to let the AppleScript to know its current path?

    The following is what your Applescript environment looks like, so plan accordingly.  If you want your Applescripts to be portable to other user environments, you should NOT depend on your environment, but rather embed all the environment knowledge you need into your script.
    Applescript "do shell script" environment
    pwd:

  • Multiple environment instances in the same process with DB_REGISTER flag

    Hello,
    I'm having two applications in the tomcat that should use the same environment. I have the DB_REGISTER flag set, and since tomcat has a java single process for all applications, I can't open an environment in the second application since I get a "DB_REGISTER limits processes to one open DB_ENV handle per environment" error message. This is understandable. So my question is: is there a way to "join" the first opened environment instance. Or do I have to run applications in two different processes, i.e. using 2 tomcat instances?
    Thanks,
    Vyacheslav

    Thanks for reply Sandra.
    I have a follow-up question. Is it possible to get an environment instance if it's already opened in the process. For instance like:
    Application1 in the tomcat process:
    Environment env  = new Environment(envHome, envConfig) //openning an env under "envHome" directoryApplication2 in the same tomcat process:
    Environment env;
    try{
      env  = new Environment(envHome, envConfig) //openning an env under "envHome" directory
    } catch (DbException e) {
      if(isAlreadyOpenedException(e)) { //checking that our exception is "DB_REGISTER flag permits only 1 opened env handle per process"
         env = Enviroment.getEnvironmentHandleFromTheSameProcess(); //here I'm improvising. Is there any similar method?
    } So my question is if it's something that is possible.
    Thanks in advance,
    Vyacheslav

  • Is it possible to use SCCP and SIP at the same time?

    Our CCM is using v9.1 and all of our phones are SCCP. We are looking at a conference room phone that runs SIP. Would it be possible to use this in our current setup?

    Hi @bobdchambers,
    That's totally fine. They both co-exist in the same environment but make sure to not configure the same extension in different models because if you dial an extension that is configured in a SCCP phone and a SIP phone, just the SCCP phone rings.

  • It's possible connect different gis software to the same database

    hi,
    i´m quite new in Oracle, and i supose that the question is so stupid, but....
    I want to know if is possible to connect to the same Oracle Spatial database with Arcgis, Microstation, Autodesk Map, etc.
    Thanks

    If you truly have a need to have multiple GIS packages in the same environment you would probably be more successful with a central repository of spatial data at the center of a hub and spoke configuration.
    Each GIS package would sit at the end of a unique spoke with data in the data model of the vendor - not compromising any functionality of the GIS.
    Each spoke would connect to the hub with a flow of data back and forth between the GIS and the respositary.
    Those GIS packages that 'play well' with spatial can utilize simple triggers to keep their data in synch with what is in the central repository.
    Those GIS packages that don't 'play well' (or those that augment the power of Oracle spatial with extensions to the data model, or those that add additional functionality with custom ETYPES) can use ETL routines to keep their data in synch with what is in the central repository.
    ETL or triggers should include data validation/data quality checks to avoid corrupting the repository or storing invalid data inside of it.
    This way you can keep your data models reasonably intelligent and translate (with semantics) data as it moves from the spokes to the hub and vice-versa.
    This allows you to choose the best editing GIS, the best web delivery GIS, the best analytical GIS, the best cartographic and map production GIS (etc) without crippling the functionality they offer with a 'lowest common denominator' data model.
    You could also use this same idea with web services (which is where the IT interoperability problem is being solved). A web service sits as the semantic translator between each GIS solution and the central repository. Some GIS packages claim better performance and/or functionality with their own data models and their own data storage mechanisms (and there are some merits to these claims) so the web services approach allows this with a central Oracle Spatial respositary.
    *SAFE (the company referenced above in the thread) is the industry leader in spatial ETL and has very easy to use and powerful semantic translation tools.  It is interesting that many of the GIS vendors actually use the SAFE technology to power their own 'interoperability' functionality.

  • Transaction across multiple databases in the same BDB environment

    Hi,
    I have multiple databases and one metadata database all in the same BDB environment. At runtime I want to create an additional database, update this database and update the metadata database in the same environment under one transaction. Are there any issues in having transactions that span multiple databases in the same environment?

    There is virtually no difference between using multiple databases and a single database in a transaction. Concurrency is determined by other factors such as whether multiple threads access the same records. See the Writing Transactional Applications for more information:

    The deployment fails because each of these JARs contains the same session

    So, I'm wondering if my only option is to package each session bean in a
    separate EJB JAR or if there is another way I could get this to work.

    Thanks, Neal. I'll do as you suggest.
    Just a little feature enhancement request, as well. It would be nice if the
    option existed to break out the webservices for all the session beans in a
    ejb rather than creating one all-encompassing interface of all the methods.
    I think this would be a useful feature.
    Thanks, again,

    I am not sure what can cause this. But I will make servicegen check for
    duplicate.
    For now, in order to make sure your automatic build process, you can use
    ant's build in task "jar" to update your application.xml with a correctone

    Hi Rob,
    There is something wrong during generating application.xml for the
    ear.
    After servicegen, if you open generated application.xml, you probablycan
    see duplicate entries for one module. Please go ahead delete thoseredundant
    entries. Let me know if this works.

  • Multi-processes on the same machine open the same database

    I run into an issue where I have two processes, running on the same machine.
    Process-1 starts the replication as master and opens database for read-write.
    Process-2 only opens the same database for read-write, no replication is started,
    and process-2 will fail to open the database because of "Non-replication DB_ENV
    handle attempting to modify a replicated environment" error.
    Can you suggest a way to handle this scenario?
    Can two processes on the same machine open the same database for read-write?
    Thanks.

    Following are how I setup the database environment for Master side:
    DB_ENV->rep_set_priority(80)
    DB_ENV->repmgr_set_ack_policy(DB_REPMGR_ACKS_ALL)
    DB_ENV->repmgr_set_local_site()
    DB_ENV->rep_set_nsites(2)
    DB_ENV->set_cachesize(1MB)
    DB_ENV->set_data_dir()
    DB_ENV->set_lg_dir()
    DB_ENV->set_tmp_dir()
    DB_ENV->set_flags(DB_AUTO_COMMIT, 1)
    DB_ENV->set_lg_max(1MB)
    DB_ENV->log_set_config(DB_LOG_AUTO_REMOVE, 1)
    DB_ENV->set_lg_bsize(1MB)
    openFlags = DB_INIT_MPOOL | DB_INIT_LOCK | DB_INIT_LOG | DB_INIT_TXN | DB_INIT_REP | DB_THREAD | DB_CREATE | DB_USE_ENVIRON;
    DB_ENV->open("/home/db", openFlags, 0644)
    DB_ENV->repmgr_start(3 threads, DB_REP_MASTER)
    Both processes using the same environment home directory.
    Now I'm able to get both process up and running, because now I check for DB_REP_IGNORE return value from repmgr_start() method on the second process.
    The first process starts the replication server, and the second process will not start the replication server at all.
    However, if the first process terminated and got restart, the replication server will not be restarted...
    I saw there's a check of "listener" in the repmgr_start function.
    How can I restart the replication server either upon restarting the first process or from the running second process?
