Cq57 error msg hard disk 1 quick 303

My start up memory test passes yet i get error msgs "hard disk 1 quick 303" and "hard disk 1 smart 301" . I ordered recovery disk since mine did not work yet they also do not work. The new installation stops at 23% and I get a pop up that states " Reducer copy file fails from D:\PRELOAD\Base.swm to: C:\RM\Image\Base.swm.  Can any one help me or know if I must have a new hard drive?

Hi,
The 301 and 303 error codes would indicate that the Hard Drive is failing and needs to be replaced.  This is also consistent with the recovery issue.
If your notebook is still under warranty, contact HP and arrange to have the drive replaced - you can check your warranty status Here.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
If you are out of warranty and would like a guide on replacing the Hard Drive yourself, please let me know - include the full Model No. and Product No. of your cq57 series notebook - see Here for a further explanation.

    Hi,
This is from DST test with Failure id message. This message simply means the HDD is dead. One option: replace the HDD.
    Sorry.

  • Recurring Hard Disk Error - New Hard Disk

I've been in contact with HP about a recurring problem with my Pavillion g6 - it periodically has blue screen errors and then won't turn on, displaying a "hard disk error". It then refuses to boot up for anywhere between a few minutes to a few days. I sent it in for a repair, it came back with a new display bezel (???). More hard disk errors. I called in and they shipped out a new hard drive for me.
Today I installed the new hard drive. When I tried to boot it up for the first time, I was greeted with yet another hard disk error. I ran a test, it claimed that the hard disk was fine (it used to say that before sometimes too, which is probably why they didn't replace it initially). Powered down, and turned it on again - it started up fine.
Now it is working, but I don't feel any better about it since it had that initial error. Is it normal for a new hard disk to fail right after being hooked up? It was obviously installed fine, as I am typing this post on a fully functioning laptop now. I am tired of living out of a portable drive (it is a lot like living out of a suitcase), so I would appreciate some assurance that the laptop isn't just going to crash again, but it seems to me that the new hard disk isn't going to be my solution.
I have an extended warranty - but I don't have the luxury of time when it comes to mailing it in, as I am a full-time student and use online courseware every day.

It is obviously not normal to get an error on a new hard drive. Equally obviously, it is not the drive itself. I wish I could calm your fears but I suspect you have some sort of an intermittent connectivity problem with the SATA port on the motherboard. All you can do is keep using it and see if the problem comes back. I might go in and triple check all the screws and connections, but that is just OCD, really.

  • Unable to install Mountain Lion - S.M.A.R.T. errors  My hard disk error?

Unable to install Montain Lion after purchasing form store and download on Mac Pro 13 inch 2.3 Intel i5 OS 10.7.4.  When I am presented with install options, my HD option is dimmed and there is a message: "This disk has S.M.A.R.T. errors.  This disk has a hardware problem that can't be repaired.  Back up as much of the data as possible and replace the disk."

Well that's good advice.  SMART errors are only presented when the hard drive is about to die.  This is a dire warning.
You should ensure you have a current backup, and then replace the hard drive.  You may need to take it into an Apple Store... if it's < 3 years old and you have AppleCare they will probably replace it for you.

  • Error on hard disk

everytime i opened my hp notebook it always pop up  HARD DISK ERROR. what will i do?

Probably you must be getting SMART Hard Disk Error message on the screen. I would recommend you to backup all your files immediately so that none of your personal data is lost because of this reason.

  • Error message, hard disk -(3f0)

I was browsing my laptop and then I closed a tab. It lagged and then went to a screen which says that the boot device is not found, that I needed to install an operating system and that my hard disk doesn't exist... Please help!!

    Hi,
Disconnect the HDD and then reconnect the HDD. Then run the F2 diagnostic test. If the test fails, then you have to replace the HDD and then reinstall the operating system using the recovery disk.
If the test passes, then you can reinstall the Operating System using the recovery disk.

  • Error installing - hard-disk space

    Hi,
today I tried to install Flash Builder 4 Beta 2 as Plugin on my Mac. Directory was "/development/devapps/flashbuilder". Need this directory because it's companies "standard" folder for our development stuff.
I got an error saying "Warning! low disk-space" (see the screen in german)
I dind't found any bug in Jira so do you know what's wrong?

Hard drive has capacity of 74.5 Gig.
OSX will take 15 to 20 Gig. Keep in mind that this includes virtual memory files, cache files, sleep files, and temp files -- all of which make your Mac run smoother and faster.
Add that to the items you have already identified, and subtract from 74.5 Gig and you probably will get fairly close to the amount of free space left on your hard drive.

  • SSD Patriot Warp V2 64gb & 128gb & Lenovo T61P - error 2100 hard disk failed initialisation

Hi guys. I have recently purchased 2 SSD drives - 1x64gb & 1x128gb. I have the 64gb hooked up to the home pc and is running as the C:\ system drive. I wanted to hook up the 128gb drive to my notebook, but I keep getting an initialisation error (2100) - I have tried AHCI and Compatibility Mode, as well as look up various firmware upgrades and hdd firmware upgrade options via Lenovo.
I was just curious if anyone has had problems with this on there system, and if so, how did you overcome it. I have tried both drives on my notebook, both providing the same error, but both work on the desktop system.
I have a strong feeling it is to do with a firmware upgrade through Lenovo (ibm), as I have the most recent upgrade which is already a few months old... Hope to hear something good soon... Thnx guys in advance.

To install Win XP, SATA AHCI needs to be changed to Compatibility mode in the BIOS for HDD. - Config - > SATA - > Compatibility.

  • Hp pavilion dv6-6113cl entertainment pc windows 7 hard disk error 303 305

Hi, my PC stopped working a few months ago. I have trying to find a way to fix it, but with no luck. A few weeks ago, I decided to buy the recovery disks from Hp. I did, and they came in the mail a few days ago. I use them, but all that pops up is a purplish screen(instead of what should be blue) with a cursor and that's about it. I did a hard disk test and it said hard disk quick 303 and full 305. Can someone help me please?

    Hi:
Those errors indicate that you need to replace the hard drive, which is why the recovery disks won't work.
You should purchase a hard drive of the same size or larger capacity than the one that came with your PC or the recovery disks won't work on a smaller capacity hard drive than what came with your PC.

Originally shipped with a 250GB (7200RPM) SATA HDD.
You can replace it with any 2.5 in SATA HDD.  My recommendation: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148904
You'll also need to get the HP Recovery Media kit to reinstall the OS:  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4063&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4125...
If you're unable to order the kit from the website, you'll need to call HP and order it.  Their 24x7 tech support number is 1-800-474-6836.

  • HP dv4-1225dx "Hard Disk Error" 3F1 on startup with eSATA HDD attached

The whole internet is void of information on this specific error code, so here it is, lo and behold, the ONLY English-language Google result for this error message:
    Hard Disk Error
Please run the Hard Disk Test in System Diagnostics.
    Error code:
    Hard Disk 1 (3F1)
    F2 System Diagnostics
For more information, please visit: (illegible due to colored text)
Specifically, the "Hard Disk 1 (3F1)" part, that's nowhere to be found online. Tons of pages about 3F0, apparently the primary hard disk. No, this is an error regarding the secondary hard disk, attached via eSATA.
Problem is, there's NOTHING wrong with the attached drive, other than this error on startup. No SMART failures. Comes up and works fine in Windows. Scanned 100% OK. It'd be nice if there were a way to bypass this error automatically, but I always have to hit F2, then Esc to abort its forced diagnostic routine.
It's a WD My Book Studio, 750gb, attached via eSATA. Doesn't happen if I leave it unplugged during startup... but SATA is a connection that likes to be present on startup. The system, as in the title, is a dv4-1225dx laptop, running Windows Home Server (Server 2003), but previously running Windows 7 Home Premium. Vista is evil.
It's also my home server, as of about yesterday (when I set it up and started getting this message). The system seems to crash pretty routinely over the past few days and every time it reboots, it hangs at that stupid "Hard Disk Error" message. Not a pretty sight when I'm away from home and want to access something, like my email. Is there a way around this message hanging the system?
edit: Not to mention the world's most buggy fan-control algorithm, worst heatpipe design on the planet, no AHCI mode control, and terrible system management (battery went dead on you at 40%? tough... remove battery to continue using your computer). LOOOOTS of bugs in this terrible BIOS.

Thanks for the link, it helps clarify that there's a difference between "3F1" and "301" - hard disk error and SMART error. In other words, it's reporting a generic "Error", not even that the drive may be/is failing.
In this case, the drive isn't failing, at all. It's a BIOS bug.
I put the drive on an ExpressCard eSATA controller, and it works fine. Unfortunately, since I'm the only one using this sort of configuration and getting this error, I imagine there won't be any work done to fix the bug

  • Hard disk failure - what does mean following error: failure ID 9cw77a-5km5t8-xd002k-60s903?

    Hi,
    Since 6 months I have HP Pavilion dv6 3180ec, running Win7 64-bit.
Recently the notebook restarted itself several times during last couple of days with a hard disk failure message (blue screen); after restart, a Hard disk diagnosis was requested however never properly started... So I run the test from BIOS and got following error message:
    Hard disk test failed
    Failure ID: 9CW77A-5KM5T8-XD002K-60S903
(interesting is that the SMART test passed successfully)
Does anybody knows, how severe the failure is? Is the change of HDD necessary? I would like to avoid the situation to send it to HP customer service for warranty check and have no notebook for a month, as the guys will not experience the same problem (actually even I am now writing the post on that notebook - and without any restart...)

    Hi,
If not a SMART error, this will either be a failure of the short or long Disk Self Test and really would indicate the drive should be replaced.  There is no need to have to send the notebook in, as if you contact HP to arrange for a new HDD to be supplied to you under warranty, the drive will be sent out to you - you normally have to pay a deposit which is refunded when you return the defective HDD.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
The procedure for replacing the HDD is shown starting on Page 55 of your Maintenance & Service Guide.

  • GRUB Hard disk Error

    Hi,
I just installed Redhat Linux AS4, after installation upon rebooting it is giving an error,
    GRUB: Hard disk error.
How i can fix this issue, please help me out.
    Regards

In general, if you install a system in a normal way, the installer should take care of this for you. Probably you didn't choose to install grub in the MBR? (I don't see any other reason why you would encounter this situation, but if you've installed it in another way, please inform us in this thread)
At this point grub boots as bootmanager, but isn't able to start the linux installation. Well, look at it positive: you've made progress.
    Can you issue:
    grub-install --root-directory=/boot /dev/cciss/c0d0
