CQ60-210US Windows 7 No Sound
Can someone please help me, i have a CQ60-210US notebook and am trying to install windows 7 enterprise. I had windows vista 64 bit installed and sound worked fine, but after i wipped the hard drive and installed windows 7 my sound will not work i have tired almost everything i can think of except for reinstalling vista and upgrading to 7 (don't really want to do this) I've installed all the drivers from hp support website for windows 7 then i reinstalled windows 7 and tryed vista drivers. What is is it shows up are intergrated HDMI sound and wont work (without drivers) then i install the drivers and it shows up as nvidia HDMI audio and still doesnt work.
Hi,
Download the following Graphics driver and save it to your Desktop.
Nvidia Graphics Driver
If you don't still have the installer for your Audio Driver, download this and save it to your Desktop also.
Conexant Audio Driver
Sometimes the HDMI Audio driver associated with the graphics adapter can prevent the normal Audio driver from installing correctly, so try the following:
From windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Display Adapters, right click the adapter and select Properties. Click the Driver tab and then click Uninstall Driver. When this has completed, open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers, right click the Nvidia HDMI entry and select Properties. Again, click the Driver tab and click Uninstall Driver. When this has completed, go back to your Desktop and install the Drivers in this order.
1. The Conexant Audio Driver.
2. The Nvidia Graphics Driver.
When you've done this, restart the notebook and check the audio.
Regards,
DP-K

Compaq Presario CQ60-211dx - Windows XP Sounds Are Low Pitched
I know I'm going to get replies saying to upgrade my OS from Windows XP.
I have a Compaq Presario CQ60-211dx running Windows XP Professional 32 bit. The system sounds are kind of low pitched. Let's say the system audio is at C but my sound is at B flat. It's starting to become kind of annoying, because I don't really like sounds that are off tone. Also whenever I close and open the lid on the laptop, the sounds just don't work, until I restart the laptop. I have Conexant HD Smartaudio 221.
Anyone help?Hi @darkness12445
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that you are having sound quality issues. I am happy to assist. When I looked up your notebook I found that there were no drivers for XP on the support page, which would mean it was not sold configured for XP. So the drivers you are using would not have been customized to be compatible with the other standard devices in this series of notebooks. That may be part of the problem.
But for now...

BT 3.1 - No more windows 7 startup sound
Hey there Apple forums!
I decided to install Windows 7 on my Mac a while ago. I had Bootcamp 3.0 and all the problems related to audio that BT 3.0 had, including the red optical light. Once BT 3.1 was released, I decided to install it. Notice how I hadn't changed any driver from Bt 3.0 until I installed 3.1.
Once I installed the update, most audio problems were immediately solved. No more ghostly red optical light, no more laggy audio, etc. Audio output was still low, but nothing "Enchance audio output" couldn't solve. I was seemingly happy, until i realized that the windows 7 startup sound played no more.
By startup sound I mean the chime that plays when you're in the login screen. This is a very small glitch, as it used to work in Bt 3.0, even with the audio issues it had.
Is there any solution? And before you begin asking protocol questions, yes, the startup sound IS enabled, yes I have the default Windows sounds set, I haven't changed the theme (don't know if that even matters, it shouldn't matter).
If it helps, when i connect two low speakers to the audio output jack and start Windows, and raise the volume, I CAN hear the startup chime in the login screen. But there's not even a faint sound when the external speakers are gone.
Should anyone know a solution, please help me with a post. And the speakers I have suck, so they're not an option.Hi
Had same problem, tried everything like reinstalling drivers but still the problem continued. However today i tried changing the driver for the sound card to the generic driver and rebooted my macbook pro. on startup the sound card would not work on the generic driver and the system kicked in with an automatic troubleshoot and installed the correct drivers.
Somehow this has enabled the startup sound to work and the system doesn't startup in a muted state.
Haven't a clue why or how this has worked or how long it will continue to work but give it a go. -
Premiere Pro 2.0 and Windows 7 - Direct Sound Input soundcard driver problem
My XP machine crashed, I reinstalled Premiere Pro 2.0 with Windows 7, and I got the following error: 'The Currently installed soundcard driver does not support Direct Sound Input. Recording audio is not possible.' The soundcard drivers are updated. Any ideas? Here's what I have: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor 3.40 GHz 8 GB, 64 bit. Thank you for looking.
Thanks! Though I upgraded to solve the problem, this is good to know.

VERY VERY VERY EASY (now, when I solved the problem, not before...!!!)
Insert Micropone or any jack in Micropone Input or Aux Input, on your sound card or motherboard !
AND NOW YOU CAN USE PREMIERE PRO 2.0
Enjoy

My Macbook Pro makes the Windows Critical Error sound randomly.
So recently my MacBook Pro 17" Late 2011 has been making the Windows critical error sound just out of the blue. It even happens when the sound is off or the lid is closed. I do not have a windows program open but i do have VMWare and Windows installed on it but it happens even with the program closed down. Has anyone ever heard of this happening?

Choppy sound in Windows 7 on Sound Blaster Audigy SE
Hey all,
I recently upgraded to Windows 7 and I love it with the exception of my sound card. Ever since I upgraded, all my sounds are super choppy (like every 5 seconds it chops). Of course I installed the new creative windows 7 drivers but it didn't fix the problem. Anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this or other possible solutions to try?
Thanks,
JasonRe: Choppy sound in Windows 7 on Sound Blaster Audigy SEk What I meant was when you uninstall your graphics driver and use standart VGA drivers then the sound turns to normal without any crackling/popping. But of course you wouldnt want to do that or else you wouldnt have graphics accerelation. (You can't play video games and even watch any kind of video)
For instance you freshly setup windows, dont install any nvidia/ati drivers, just with the big screen, install the creative drivers u wont have any problem with your sound.
That's why I said that there's a kind of confliction between graphics interface and creative drivers. Because when u install any kind of display driver, crackling sound starts again.
There's no solution for this except updated SB drivers. And that's why people get mad to creative on this forum. (Not only on this forum of course, it's a worldwide madness) -
Windows software synth sounds bett
Just bought a Creative Audigy off of eBay and installed it in my system.
I have loaded a couple different general MIDI soundfonts, and I can tell that they each sound different so I'm confident they are working properly. However, I noticed while using the DirectX diagnostic utility that the Windows software synthesizer sounds about 5x better than the hardware synthesizer on the Audigy. Am I doing something wrong?
Pentium III 933
52 MB RAM
Windows 98 (first edition)
Plenty of hard disk space
Creative Soundblaster AudigyYou may find some files on some of the Logic boards (I know I stuck a few presets up on http://www.proapptips.com).
Why not roll your own? That's half the fun.

I am running Windows XP Servicepack 3. I clicked the Free Download, saved it using IE8, and then tried to run it. A couple of seconds after I pressed ENTER on the filename, I got that infamous Windows XP "thud" sound along with the message that the file is corrupt.
Hi knobman- I'm not sure why the file would be corrupt. I would recommend downloading from the official Mozilla site only. You can click this link to get the latest and best version [just select 'Windows' and it should go]:

Hope that helps! -

Download and install the Audio driver on the link below.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp50501-51000/sp50720.exe
When this installation has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

Windows Vista major sound issues
On my 2 month old Unibody Macbook, I'm experiencing severe sound issues with bootcamp 2.1 in windows vista. While playing games such as Halo 2 or Fallout 3, which the macbook graphically handles exceptionally well for a laptop, the sound crackles and often disappears! To get the sound back I have to reboot my macbook. Help, this is extremely annoying, and apple won't do a thing about it!!! Please help!

Windows 7 - No sound on N100 768-B9G
Hello All,
I just installed the new 7, everything's ok but the audio:
Windows automatically installed something called S/PDIF digital audio, and when I play music the lever seems to be moving, but no sound on the speakers or phone jack.
I tried installing the vista drivers in compatibility mode, tried to "update driver" or sound device - nothing.
Any idea?
Are there avaiable "beta" drivers for download?
Thanks, Ofer.Problem is resolved. My laptop is N100 0768-DKU which has SoundMax as driver. Here are instructions,
1. Uninstall the existing "Sound, video and game ...." device driver from Device Manager
2. Download the driver exe file from Lenovo site
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67400
Note: that download page tells you which modal can use this drivber.
3. Run that exe which extract the package to C:\Drivers\Win\Audio by default.
4. Run the setup flle under C:\Drivers\Win\Audio directory and follow the instruction to install the new driver.
Hope this help. -
I an very frusrated and not to happy with Creative Support. I have Creative's? X-Fi Elite Pro sound hardware installed in my Asus Maximus Extreme Motherboard. It Functioned well in Windows XP environment. I performed a clean install on to a new WD TB harddri've when I upgraded to Windows 7 32 bit home premium in Feb. I had no sound at all after the OS upgrade. In Feb, Windows had no certified drivers for my soundcard and external hardwarein Feb. Microsoft recommended I go to the Creative site to obtain and download drivers Creative recommended for use with Windows7. Creative had drivers and other software they claimed would work? with Win 7 32 bit. I downloaded and ran into problems with the operating system allowing the installation of the software. I managed to get the downloaded driver software package? to open, however the process was interupted by the following file error [@S]CRC,0x28504db7:0x0d37dbd7. This particular file error appears when Windows 7 opens all of the downloaded software including the driver the Creative site recommends for use with windows 7.
I have filled out the on- line support form 5 times. I received a single response to my first inquiry,? I followed all of Creative's recommendations to correctly install their driver and software including performing another complete clean installation of Windows 7. I am hoping someone has some helpful information to share with me. Creative provides NO conduit for consumer techical assistance other than their " on-line support form"? and if they do not respond to requests for support through the only channel they provide, the consumer is left with very expensi've and useless sound hardware.? I need a way to have some sort of dialogue with a Creative technical expert.
If anyone knows how to contact them let me know PLEASE!!!.
Has anyone else experienced difficulty while unpackaging downloaded driver/software for Win 7 and if so have you had any success in solving the problem so that I can access and install these very necessary items to allow me to use my Creative hardware? I am hoping someone out there has solved this dilema now that The drivers Creative recommends are certified by Microsoft. I hope someone out there has found where Creative Customer support is hiding and will show me how to find them too.I have a similar card, X-FI Platinum Falatty, and I've gotten my card to work fine in windows 7 (for the most part... click http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/SB-X-Fi-Series-AuzenWDM-Pack--0-09-30-2009/m-p/538467;jsessionid=B5880E4294644337F6E946C347978A) HOWEVER instead of using his bundled driver i used Creative's driver listed below
Creative's driver pack for your card is the same driver pack I used for my card, Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi series driver 2.8.003, http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=209&CatName=X-Fi&subCatID=208&subCatName=X-Fi&prodID=4064&prodName=X-Fi+Elite+Pro&bTopTwenty=&VARSET=prodfaq:PRODFAQ_40 64,VARSET=CategoryID:209
(excuse the stupid smiley... the link should work though)
As far as your motherboard is concerned, you get get drivers for it from Asus' website, http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?model=Maximus%20Extreme&os=29&SLangu age=en-us -
Hi, I've just got Windows 7 on my Macbook but I have no sound.. When I'm on OS X, the sound work perfectly but when I switch to Windows 7, it doesn't work. How can I fix it?
Having the same issue as the poster above.
My story in short:
Owning the aluminium macbook 13" (I think this is referenced as late 2008) - and installed windows prof. 32bit on it.
My audio used to work with the original, realtek driver from leopard DVD (using compatibility mode Vista at the install). Later, I upgraded it to the newest from realtek, which was called "windows 7 ready". Well I can tell you it wasn't, but, with same compatibility settings, I managed to install it and use it well.
Till today morning. It just stopped working. I just call it red light of death, I bet you all met it yet, the optical light constantly shining in the audio jack... Tried all, rollback driver, complete reinstall of old bootcamp, upgrading to 2.2, using the laters 3. something from realtek, nothing... just the red light. When I do some noise on my macbook, the sound indicator shows the change of sound levels, but no sound. As usual. All I have managed to get working, was the realtek control panel. So far that meant I have sound.
It must be something with the windows update, but as I don't see any audio related update installed, I can't remove it either. Naturally, rollback driver doesn't work, neither the system restore point, but hey, did those work at all at any time?
So.. any ideas? -
Pavilion d6 with Beats Audio and Windows 7: the Sound Stops When Headphones are Removed
The sound works fine, then I put in headphones and usually the sound plays fine, though sometimes it stops working after making a repeating sound for a second. When I remove the headphones the sound will not come out of the speakers and if I plus the headphones back in no sound comes out. The only way I can get the sound to work again is to restart my computer.
If I run the sound troubleshooter it doesnt detect a problem. I tried the fix in this thread http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-PC-Sound-and-Audio/Beats-audio-pavilion-dv6-No-sound/td-p/2169..., but that didn't work. I would really appreciate a solution, thanks a ton!Hi,
Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When done, shut down the notebook by holding down the left Shift key as you click on Shutdown to temporarily prevent a hybrid boot.
Unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Hold down the Power button for 20 seconds. Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu. Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter. Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete. Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click 'Speakers/HP' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

DP-K

Windows 8.1. sound lost after a variable time. Ver...
After looking into many posts here I cannot find anything that helps my Skype to drop the sound from the "other" side.
My system is very standard. Windows 8.1 updates itself automatically and so does Skype. There is no other virus protection other than what follows with 8.1. There are two load-speakers: one pair that connects by wires to the sound card. The other pair is a Logitech wireless headset. In this forum someone said that changing speakers helped. Not so here.
I have a one-year landline subscription for Europe.
This set-up has worked perfectly well for years and also for several months on 8.1. But since a couple of months the problem with the disconnection has begun. By experiment we know that the person I call can hear my voice, but I cannot hear him/her any longer. This happens after a variable duration of the call; fom a minute to 10 minustes or so. Annoying, I must say.
Any suggestion would be very welcome.Hi,
Error Code 52 means: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an
unknown source.
According to the error code, it should be the driver problem. What's the problem to uninstall the driver? Can you uninstall it through Control Panel? You can try to delete them by boot into safe mode for test.
If you need further assistance on this particular issue or any other Windows related issue, let us know and we will be glad to assist you.
