CR 10.5 on windows 2k3 TS

Hi guys,
We have 2 terminal server, both working very well, Crystal is working fine also.
The only thing is that we do not have all export option on a normal user account, but its working on admin user account.
We tried adding read security to TS users on program file folder but it didn't change.
Any idea what could be the solution ?

Hi Fred,
10.5 is the version of CR that comes with Visual Studio .NET 2008 so moving this to the .NET development forum.
Also, the Basic version that comes with .NET is limited to only a few formats.

ACS problems with Windows 2K3 SP1

We are facing problems with ACS when we install SP1 on the ACS Server on Windows 2k3 Ent Edition.
After SP1 is installed, ACS admin web interface hangs whenever a AAA client is added or NDG is added/deleted/modified.
It hangs on some other changes as well but the NDG/AAA client is a confirmed to hang after the change.
ACS is running on a Dual-Core Dual Processor machine. The problem is not present on a single processor machine.
ACS ver. is 4.0(1) (Build 27)
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

ACS 3.3 and windows 2k3 issue

Have an issue with installation of ACS 3.3 trial version on windows 2k3 server. When I go to setup an AAA client type of RADIUS (Cisco Aironet), with values entered for Hostname, IP address and Key, and submit changes, dialog comes back saying "RADIUS key value must not be blank".
Have implemented this on a windows 2000 server with no issues. Have tried install on 4 different 2003 servers all behave in this manner.
Anyone else seen this?

I had the same problem several months ago. The solution I found was to download and install the latest java on the server.

Windows 2k3 Universal Installer Problem

Hey all,
Let me apologize if this problem has already been answered, but I wasn't able to find any other posts for the particular issue Im having.
Im trying to install 10g rel. 2 on my win 2k3 sp1 platform. When I run setup.exe I get Oracle's splash screen and then attempt to install oracle by just doing the basic installation. I also uncheck the check box to create a starter db. Finally I click "Next" and the Universal Installer just disappears and nothing ever happens. Any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your help. I finally got it to work correctly now. I believe it was just a bad download I had of 10g. I went back and re-downloaded the db and performed the above mentioned steps from my first posting and it installed itself correctly.
As far as log files are concerned, there were never any for me to look at. During my successful install of Oracle, with the newly downloaded cd, the log files were put in C:\Program Files\Oracle\Inventory\logs. I never even saw this directory created when I did the install.

I have a sun solaris server & a windows 2003 server where we configure ADC.win 2K3 is my Domain Controller. i wan't a solution that whenever i create a user on my DC same user should created in solaris . is it possible or any one guide me for this.

I think there are lots of threads regarding this question in the forum.
Basically there are two different methods to achieve this, the first method is to use Suns LDAP/Kerberos solution to authenticate users against the Active Directory.
The second method is to use a third party solution, such as vintela (vintela.com), which is much easier to install and takes care of all the integration for you.

TestStand Deployment problems on Windows 2K3 x64

Greeings:
I'm hoping someone out there can advise me.
I recently tried building a TS application to deploy on a server running WIndows Server 2003 x64, and I have run into a few difficulties. On my development system, (32-bit WInXP pro) I built a TS Deployment installer. I transfered it to the destination machine. Installation failed ... it said that numerous files were missing from different CAB files. I tried again ... the second time I had better luck ... the installation seemed to take. Using the License Manager, I activated my installation using my development license (my deployment license hasn't arrived yet). I tried launching my application, and I get an exception that seems to indicate the ActiveX dlls aren't registered:

I tried registering these manually using

but it complains that this DLL has no DllRegisterServer entry point. (Is it the wrong DLL to register?)
I tried uninstalling my deployment and installing the full teststand ... and SeqEdit seems to run properly. (It must have registered the required DLLs, no?) My app, on the other hand, still does not run. I am trying to install Visual Studio to see if I can rebuild the application on this system with better results.
Have I missed an important step?

That's correct. If you have the build set as Any Platform, when you install that on a 64-bit machine, the project will try to load the 64-bit versions of those assemblies, which don't exist. You have to make sure your project is building specifically for x86 so it will run properly on a 64-bit machine. I believe TestStand 4.2 or 4.2.1 ships with OIs that have this set as the default setting in the .NET OI source code, but your earlier version may not have had that corrected.

installed Essbase 11.1.2.1.0 successfully on windows w2k3 ent srever 32 bit
can I change the host name to include domain name
currently it is
xxx.xx.xxx.xxx somehost
can it be changed to
xxx.xx.xxx.xxx somehost.local.com somehost
is hostname hardcoded anywhere in essbase (or obiee)?

Host name : would be computer name
domain name: security asigned in the network ( i hope)
so you can login via your ipadress , host name(localhost),(computername ), and assigined computername_domainname
but if u see in ur pc where C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\host...u can see the localhost information
in my case while installing , it took domain name +computername
Hyperion is such smart application it takes host name while installation and after installation even it takes name as localhost also.
Unless ur authorised to change the domain name but i dont hope ur infra team will be able to allow you it

Windows 2K3 / IIS 6.0 / G6 Installation..Security Errors

I get the message below when I access http://SERVER_NAME/portal/server.ptafter installing G6. It's security related because if I change the default app pool to run as "Local System" instead of "Network Service" (default) it works. I don't wany to have it run as "Local System" though because that's too insecure. What permissions am I missing that need to be set. The diagnostics.bat tool doesnt' help. I've already tried that. This is purely a permissions / ACL issue. Thanks for your help!!

I found the solution. The portal was running as the DefaultAppPool with the NETWORK SERVICE identity. Using FileMon, I found that the NETWORK SERVICE account did not have access to the ...oracle\bin directory. After I gave the NETWORK SERVICE account Read / Execute rights on the oracle\bin directory the portal worked. The error message .Net was throwing was deceiving because it pointed to the 'openkernelsearchimpl' dll as being the problem in machine.config line 258.

Windows 2k3 Fileserver problems

Hello,
I have a problem with the Mac's in my network when connecting to windows 2003 shares. If i connect using AFP i'm geting disconected after a few seconds of copying files. It works fine if I connect using SMB. I dont have this problem on all the Mac's. For example on my system works fine and that means the settings on the windows server are ok.
I should say that i didnt have this problem when using windows 2000 a few years ago.

There are other programs besides Windows Media Player that can be used for Windows Media files. Are you using Windows Media Player because you like it, or just because you want to play Windows Media files?
One such free program that plays .WMV files is called VLC and can be found at: http://www.videolan.org
You can also check out places like Download.com for other players.

my scenario is very simple but i am not able to do that so plz give ur soln wth proper sql commands and steps.
i want to move oracle 8i db running in windows 2003 server to another machine running in same server how can i do this.
my database name is att.

inside this cntrl files, log files and trace files are there.

inside this pfile,udump,bdump,cdump are there.
so kindly provide me soln asap as i hav to do it by tmw.

Windows 2k3 - wsus continues to claim update needed despite being installed

I'm having an issue with my Windows 2003 servers detecting an installed update. I've installed the update and can verify it was installed from the "Review your update history" page
on the Windows Update site.
We are using a WSUS server to deploy updates. The WSUS server continues to report that I need to install this update. Any ideas?

Does this client reports properly? Please check the report of this client in the WSUS administration console.
If the report is correct, could you provide the detailed name of the update? It may give some hints.

Windows 2K3 sharing with iMac

Im running Tiger on my mac and have just installed Windows 2003 Server Enterpise on my PC. I want to use my PC as a file server. I have installed Appleshare on the PC and have shared all the drives. I have disabled the Microsoft network server: Digitally Signed Alway to Disabled. When I do a Command K on my Mac I can see the PC and all the shares but when I try to connect it gives me an error about not being able to find the alias. Anyone have any ideas?

Having a Nightmare trying to get OS X Lion to join and retain Windows 2k3 Domain

Hi,
I cannot seem to join OS X Lion to a Windows 2003 Domain and when i do manage to join the domain after repairing permisions, several reboots, deleting the computer object in AD, its doesnt seem to retain the membership as i cannot login with a domain account.
I've checked the time, permissions, modifed the local host files, checked dns. Only thing i havent done is rebuild the imac.
It's just got worse over the last week or so. Think i did an OSX update too.
Any idea's? I'm unable to login as my domain user profile.

Looks like this may well be fixed in 10.7.2 but i'm running 10.7.1. What do i do until then ;-(

Oravssw don't work with windows 2k3 services

I have problem about the oravssw installed on my Oracle 10G version 10.2.0.2, I've download and install instance client 11G to run oravssw
and my config command that to:
oravssw SID /i
That command is create a VSS service on my windows so when i have run "vssadmin list writes" command the windows error on application log say
VSS-00011: Connection to database instance orcl failed.
Cause : The user account in which the Oracle VSS Writer Service is running does not have the DBA privileges to log in to the Oracle instance.
Action : Run the Oracle VSS Writer Service in a user account that can connect to the Oracle instance with DBA privileges.

And I've config OS_AUTHENT_PRIFIX and added user to ORA_DBA group for dba privilege but a problem still not work, also i test with sqlplus / as sysdba that work to dba privilege. so how can i ran a vss service on my windows work.

How is your network setup? i.e. dsl/cable > APE > Mac/PC/Linux ?
Is the APE setup as a DHCP server? Are the non-Mac's setup as DHCP clients with both IP and DNS to obtain automatically?
