CR-23 car kit info required please

Hello, can anyone help a technophobe please? I have bought a car with a CR-23 cradle fitted. I know this covers the 6020 and 6021 phones, but is it possible to simply plug in any other cradles to allow me more options of phone models? If so which models can I choose from? Any info on car kit/phone interchangeability would be appreciated. Thanks Ian

Yes you can change the cradle to any nokia phone that supports pop port connection, hopefully you will have a ck-7w car kit if not you may be in trouble. Have a look at the phone accesories for the phone you have and see if there is a cradle available or let us know your phone.

  • Zen screen info required - Please he

I have a zen 20, the one with the .65" screen. Does anyone know if any other player shares the same screen unit's I need to canabalise one because my screens broken. Any davice would be much appreciated. Thank you!

    Update:
Both my sisters and my Zen Sleek have died. They pretty much won't function at all. If I actually boot it up, and go to play a song, the player will just freeze after a couple of minutes. When I go to recovery mode, I cannot clean the disk, and if I can, it will freeze again. I've re-uploaded the firmware twice already, and the same thing happens. What can I do? I can't accept defeat, and buy a new player, because I have no money. I've babied the player, and have only dropped it 3 times.

You must have all your contacts on the simcard.  Try copying all the contacts on to the simcard and then see what happens.

  • Info on car kit

hi there, i'm hoping that you might be able to help. i'm not a user of an in car kit so i'm a bit dumb when it comes to them... (i'm possibly assuming that they are more complicated than they actually are!)
my father in-law has a nokia 3120 and has asked us to find him a replacement phone (he doesn't want or need anything too fancy). we've been looking at the 6230i, the only snag is that he has recently purchased a new car which has an in car kit already built in and by chance this happens to fit the old phone & he wants to keep it. we dont know what model the car kit is (it has a cradle & you just plug in and talk) so i'm not sure whether the 6230i is compatible or not.
can anyone advise as i'm not really sure whether to start!
    thanks

I think you have a cark-132 or 134 because the the 3120 has a headphone socket and power socket on the bottom and will work with these kits although the phone is not a perfect fit. Unfortunatly there is not new phones that will fit in this car kit, sorry.

  • Incoming calls to BT car kit are shown as "UNKOWN"

I am from Holland and driving a Peugeot 308 CC with built in BT car kit called Connect Nav (standard, not the 3D version). I upgraded to the latest software version 33.09. Whenever a call comes in, it shows "UNKOWN" in the car display. When I delete the callers name from the iPhone's addressbook the car kit shows the incoming callers telephonenumber. So numbers are correct displayed, but names are either "UNKOWN" or short names give strange coded info on the car display. So there is a software incompatiblity between iOS 5.0.1. and Peugeot Connect Nav. iOS 4 seemed to work without a problem I got from several fora. Syncing iPhone's addressbook does not make a change.
Why is Apple's iOS 5 not backwards compatible with iOS 4 compatible equipment? Please Apple correct this software incompatibility.
Has anybody encountered this problem and used an contacts/addressbook App that solved this kind of problems?

  • Advice on Navigation Car Kits

    Hi All,
i'd like to hear from you that have seen or used both the Magellan & TomTom Car Kits Please.
Are they much the same or is one far better unit than the other?
I guess all i'd like it to do is be able to charge the battery, have a good speaker & good GPS signal.
I can't really think of any other feature i may need? never having a GPS before
The iTunes App that'll be used i have yet to buy but i'm guessing it'll be the MetroView Australia
it seems good value at $25:00, the TomTom is at $80: the Navigon is at $90: ATM.
So the MVA is a no brainer if u live in the land of Oz that is.

I've owned the Magellan kit and played with the TomTom kit and the TomTom kit is definitely superior. My biggest complaint with the Magellan was the built in speaker didn't shut off automatically when you had the cradle connected to an aux jack. You had to turn the sound down on the speaker with a very tiny dial on the side of the unit. The TomTom is a much more intelligent unit in this regard.
I also didn't like the fact that on the Magellan the button to answer the speakerphone was on the backside of the unit and was difficult to locate when you were driving which pretty much negated the advantages of "hands free" for your car. A plus for the Magellan though is that if you have a case on your phone it is adjustable to fit. It's pretty clever the way they handle that. The TomTom kit is designed for a bare phone. The hands free on the TomTom kit works via bluetooth and is definitely better quality.
You don't mention if you have a 3 series or 4 series phone. If you have an iPhone 4 you'll have a problem with the TomTom but I believe they just released a (free?) adaptor for it that will work with the new phone. Other folks on the web had also come up with their own fixes for that as well. The TomTom comes with a windshield mount but I believe ProClip is selling a custom TomTom kit with a standard 4 hole mount plate in case you already have a mounting system in your vehicle. www.proclipusa.com for info.
Personally, I don't think either one is a necessary solution. The GPS in my iPhone 3GS was good enough on its own and the GPS in my iPhone4 is excellent. I'm using a Blueant S4 hands free unit on the visor which is working perfectly and is 100% hands free with total voice command operation with a 3GS or 4. I went with an adjustable Cradle from ProClip for my iPhone 4 that has a passthrough connector and I've attached a cable to the cradle that includes a USB charger plugged into a lighter socket adaptor and a stereo connector plugged into the aux jack on my car stereo. Incoming calls automatically shut down the sound to the radio and route the call out to the bluetooth. The Blueant S4 supports A2DP audio over bluetooth so you can hear your turn-by-turn GPS commands via the Blueant or over the car stereo via Aux input in my case.
    Hope that helps you out!
    James
P.S. The iphone dock cable that gives you usb and audio out via mini-din jack can be found on ebay.

    Make/Model:  Nissan Maxima
    Year:  2007
Carkit Model info (Manufacturer, firmware version, etc):  OEM with Nav
Details of problem: (e.g. pairing drops, static on the line, buttons mapped incorrectly, etc)
Since updating to webOS 1.3.5, the connect and disconnect problems have mostly gone away!  Thank you Palm!
One minor complaint still with Bluetooth (if you are listening Palm):  The Nissan OEM kit supports up to 4 phones.  I paired my wife and kid's phones to the car, including my Pre.  When any other family member is in the car with me with their phone (non-Pre), my Pre will not connect to the car.  Their phones connect just fine even though my phone has been paired to the car to be the "primary" phone.  Only when I am by myself in the car will the Pre Bluetooth connect/disconnect work flawlessly.   Thanks again for getting us this far!

  • IPhone 4 will not locate Tom Tom car kit

iPhone 4 with IOS 4.0 will not discover TomTom car kit Bluetooth making the GPS app unusable. Also hands free which I depend on is also unavailable. Works as designed on a iPhone 3GS with 3.13. Unfortunately the SIM cards can not be switched. Please look into this issue and provide a correction.

Use the search facility on this site - I did, and found the following useful info...........
The TomTom car kit isn't made for, and doesn't officially support, the iPhone 4. As the iP4 is thinner than the iP3, the phone doesn't 'push' back onto the flap in the mount enough for the dock connector to fully engage into the iP4. You can 'fix' this by putting a small piece of fabric/paper/neoprene/whatever behind the phone, which will then push the flap sufficiently to engage the connector.
I've been doing this for ages without any problems, and the bluetooth connection between phone & car kit works fine.

  • Ford 2007 car kit

    Hello,
I have a Ford Focus with the original Ford car kit (Bluetooth, cradle and Voice Control), and have some questions.
1st - intermittently, the phone can't connect with the car kit using BT. The solution is to remove the fuse to reset the system or use the ear set and wait for the system to be back! Is there anything I can do to solve the problem?
2nd - I have a N73 phone and would like to know if there is any way to have the name of the person that is calling me in the radio display instead of the number?
    Thank you,
    Miguel

Ford issued a tech info regarding connectivity problems with some specific handsets. These include:
No connection, or unstable connection with many handsets: this can be solved with a software update of the Nokia OEM Ford BT system, performed using the Ford diagnostic tools. Please note that the latest firmware is available ONLY for the latest diagnostic system IDS (qualified repair shops will have the right equipment).
No Dialing: this affects mainly numbers beginning with "0". It should not affect numbers stored with the int'l area code (+49...+39...). Can be solved with the software update.
No connection to SonyEricsson SE K800i, Samsing SGH-A990 and Motorola Razr V3
Empty or Missing dialed/received calls list on Nokia N series handsets. Only "last call redial" is available.
    Keep in mind that...
_full phonebook access is not possible unless the specific Ford CarKit software is not installed on the phone. This software is not currently available for Symbian S60 3rd edition
_SIM phonebook access is NOT available for most phones. IT IS available for Nokia S40 Platform
_dialed / Received calls log is not supported on most SonyEricsson and RIM Blackberry phones. Phonebook access is also limited to 300 entries.
I'm going to test the update feature as soon as possible on an older unit to see how the unit performs with Nokia N73 handsets.

  • N73/Brodit cradle & cable for car kit

Can you please offer any assistance? I have a full Nokia car kit with interchangable cradle (not Bluetooth, model unknown) which was purchased 2nd hand for a 6230i. I have now upgraded to N73 & need to modify the car kit. The existing pop port lead works OK with the N73, so I have bought a Brodit cradle, but the lead does not fit the recess in the cradle, so bought a CA-27 cable as advised by the Brodit info. The CA-27 fits my control box but on testing with a meter, is wired different to the original lead & doesn't work with the phone. Is there any tech information available online on pin-outs for the cable etc., or would a Nokia CK-7 advanced control box work with this phone & CA-27 cable? Rewiring the cable wouldn't be a problem if I had the info - I used to repair Laptops to component level. Also, I don't really want to replace whole kit again (3rd time!) & don't want to go totally bluetooth. Any information would be much appreciated! Dave.

Thanks confiture & Danny B for your responses - I was aware that the CA-27 was intended for the CK-7W advanced. Since the existing cable from the kit works with the phone, I was hoping to find some pin-out info to modify the CA-27. We are thinking of emigrating this year & I have had to buy the N73 for cash to avoid extending contracts, so had hoped to sort the car kit problem as cheap as I could. Unless someone comes up with an alternative idea, there must be a way of modifying the CA-27 to the same pin connections as the existing cable, which as I said, works "straight up the **bleep**" of the N73! Would buy a CK-7W box, but a mate who used to work in the trade says they are prone to going wrong, and a 2nd user one (ebay etc.) may be a duff one.

This actually looks like a BMW part number, but i may be wrong. Where was the number? can you describe the cradle, dose it have Nokia written on it?, dose it have a plug at the bottom or wires comming out, are the pins in the bottom of the cradle all together or split into two?. Is it mounted in the center console?
I need more info please but i am sure we will get there.

  • Car Kit Pairing with Peugeot 407

    Hi all,
I have an iPhone 3G with iOS4 and a bluetooth car kit (manufacturer's) in my Peugeot 407SW.
Problem : My iphone pairs with the kit, it receives calls and I can make calls. However, when I go to the Telephone Directory and the Calls List, every entry is named as 'battchg' - so I have to scrutinise the numbers to see who I am calling - which is pointless.
So, wither all of my friends and family need to change their names to battchg or - can someone help please ???!!!
    Thanks
    o10

4.1 does not fix everything as my Peugeot 407 does not ring when I have an incoming call, it's silent and I have to watch the screen on dash which defeats the object. Also it just says incoming private number, please sort this out apple. Thanks.
