.CR2 files crashing PhotoShop CC (2014)
Hi! I'm trying to open some .CR2 files (Canon Raw Files) in PhotoShop CC (2014) on OS X 10.9.3 and whenever I do, PhotoShop crashes entirely.
So far I've tried reinstalling PhotoShop entirely (from Creative Cloud), reinstalling after deleting the Plugins folder in /Library/Application Support/Adobe, reinstalling after deleting the "Camera Raw" and "CameraRaw8" folders in that same directory, and nothing has worked yet. Surprisingly enough (for me at least) the solution was to uninstall PhotoShop, then boot into Disk Utility and run a repair on the disk. After that I booted back up the regular way, reinstalled PhotoShop and everything was fine. .cr2's open as expected. Hope this helps someone else out.

What is up my fellow adobinites"!? Well I want to start off with, "I Have A Dilemma". When I open a .obj file in Photoshop CC 2014 There is an error every time but in reaction to the outcome, I torrented Photoshop Cs6 for educational and testing purposes and it worked flawlessly. It was the "Plus" version so yeah. Also the .obj file worked in After Effects CC 2014 and on the other hand I think Photoshop just got 3d features in I am correct.

Can't open CR2 files in photoshop and camera raw
This weekend I rented a Canon 5D Mark iii. I have downloaded the files and all of the thumbnails in camera raw say CR2 and when I try to open Photoshop does not recognize this product.
I have:
Photoshop CS4
Camera Raw CS4
Canon 5D Mark ii
I have checked my updates folder and all my updates are current. Do I need to upgrade to CS5 or is there a way around this?Hi I recently had a problem opening CR2 files in PHotoshop cs4. I had to reinstall into a new computer, so obviously it installed the basic programme and not the updates.
After trying everything, even calling the help desk, there was apparently nothing that can be donw as they no longer support cs4.
I kept trying and found a you tube video, which i cant find again to add the link but i followed the link and with what I did earlier I can now open CR2 files in my photoshop cs4
I found the relevany update that I needed to install and downloaded it, camera raw 5.2 ( Adobe - Adobe Camera Raw and DNG Converter : For Windows : Camera Raw 5.2 update ) this is the one for the Canon 5d Mk2
After downloading it would not update the progeramme so I was in the same possition, but i noticed the files were there and i just needed to put them in the right place in photoshop so carried on looking for were to put the Plus In.
This led me to the video.
To the point.
Download the update and save to a location where you will remember.
open Adobe photoshop and go to "edit"
Them " Preferences "
then "General "
Then " Plus-Ins"
At the top you will see " Add Plug-Ins Folder " Check this box then navigate to the "win64" ( this is because mine is a windows 64 bit computer and the download is specific ) and Choose it.
Shut down photo shop and try to open a raw.
Bridge doesnt work for some reason but im going to keep looking.

Photoshop menu File>Open select the CR2 file. If you have a resent canon you may need CS6 or newer only they support ACR 8.6 beta with RAW support for the latest cameras. If you have an older version of Photoshop you may need to create Adobe DNG file for you CS2 file using Adobe DNG converter and process the DNG files with you Photoshop versions older ACR support.

What happens if you start up PS CC 2014, first, and then try the Edit In?

I can't seem to open Camera Raw CR2 files in Photoshop CS3, my CameraRaw plug in version says it's 4.6 - any help appreciated.
Have you tried opening up out of Bridge? If that doesn't work you may new need to download a new driver from Canon. All my peripherals are Canon and I am always having to download new drivers everytime I update. Fortunatly they are really easy to find on Canon's site.

Adobe camera raw will not open CR2 files in photoshop. How do i open these files? i have tried updating camera raw witht he last 8 updates but it still will not open. Camera raw shows a pop up box saying the file is not supported.

Nothing to do with anything being faulty in CS5.
The reason has already been given by tpolakov above: The 70D was first supported in Camera Raw 8.2 which is only compatible with CS6 and later. CS5 is not compatible with Camera Raw 8.2 so CS5 cannot read Raw files from the 70D. That's all there is to it.

Canon CR2 files in Photoshop CS4
Hi Everyone,
I need a bit of help. I have a G5 Dual 2.7 Power PC.
I also have photoshop CS4. I cannot see Canon files from a Canon 5D Mark 2 camera
in photoshop unless I convert them to DNGs. I have an older computer, same type but its
not water cooled and I can see CR2 files in photoshop there. I had to kill photoshop on that
computer to put it on this one. Ive tried to find the update to correct this but I keep getting an
alert saying I need some kind of Manager first. When I download that I get an alert saying the
architecture doesnt support it. So Im back to ground zero. I can do the DNG conversions but
Im just wondering why it works on an older computer but not this one. Does anyone have an
idea of what I am doing wrong? Or does anyone have the link to the correction.

tonyYes, absolutely all of the quality and dynamic range is retained in the DNG, because it is still raw data.
Outside of upgrading to Photoshop CS5, which can open your files directly with Camera Raw 6.4.1, your only choice is the extra step of converting the .CR2 files to .DNG with the free DNG converter.
While you'll get all the quality your Camera Raw 5.x converter can deliver, you should keep in mind the Camera Raw 6.x converter has an entirely new, additional "2010 process" for converting raw images, which (depending on your settings) can actually deliver a higher quality conversion than the one you're getting with Photoshop CS4. I think it's worth the cost of the Photoshop upgrade, personally.

Anyone having issues with Lighting Effects crashing Photoshop CC 2014 every time it attempts to launch? Not a problem in previous version.
That's probably correct - it's a Toshiba laptop which has been fine until now - has an AMD HD8400 graphic processor which probably just can't hack the upgrade. May need a proper workstation now!

Placing images edited in Photoshop CC 2014 into InDesign CS 6 takes minutes, trying to create a PDF hangs up InDesign.

Individual file crashes Photoshop every time it is opened.
Ok, I have a few files that I saved normally and can't find any specific issues with, but every time I open them in Photoshop CS6 it crashes. I've tried the same file on 3 different machines, all running CS6 and it crashes Photoshop on every one of them. It is a large EPS file and it will load about 80% of the way and then crash. Here is my crash report, I really need this file it has a lot of time and work tied up in it. Thanks in advance if if anyone has time to go through this. (There is a lot more to the crash report but the forum won't let me do a post that long. Let me know if there is anything missing that might help.

I can't open .CR2 files in Photoshop CS4
I'm unable to get the .CR2 files from my new Canon Rebel T3i to open in Photoshop CS4. I just got this camera and I never had this problem with my old camera (Rebel Xsi). The raw files from the Xsi will still open, but not the ones from the new camera. Can anyone help me understand why this is happening?

Just to be perfectly accurate, that would be two options.
To use the free Adobe DNG converter, you would download and install the very latest version then whenever you want to edit raw images you'll go through a process something like this:
1. Upload the .cr2 files from your camera into a folder on your hard drive.
2. Run the DNG Converter application and select the folder (it works on folders, not files).
3. Convert all the .cr2 files to .dng files.
4. Open the .dng files into Photoshop CS4 through the Camera Raw dialog.
