CR2 files from CANON will corrupted when preview by Adobe bridge

Hello Frides
This problem started for me since Sep 2012, on CS5 and CS6
Windows 7 Ultimate
64 GB Ram
Quad Core i7
ACR 7.3
ACR 6.2
Camera Canon 5D M2
The problem is when I preview my archive files it corrupt the as well; I can see the CR2 file using ACDsee Pro 5 but when I convert them to Tiff or JPEG it export the corrupted file.
The scary part is if I'm losing my archive CR2 files,
I can’t open these file in Canon Digital Photo Professional after they damaged with Adobe.
This evening I was working on a photo and export it as Tiff , when i change directory in Bridge the same CR2 file corrupted!!!!!
I delete the XMP file associated with the CR2 didn’t help, its look like when bridge try to update the thumbnail somehow it
I tested on my portable workstation
Lenovo w701ds
16 GB Ram / i7 QC / Window7 Pro
stil get this random problem.
CHecked the CF card / Card reader / all my cables  on both PC's
My problem is a software problem
PLEASE HELP!!!!!   SOS

I have tried all of those and different versions/order of import, different drives and different cards.
Sorry, cross posting the same time it seems.
I just put the image back on the memory card and checked it in the camera and it views normally in the camera.
Again, you are not viewing the Raw file at the back of the camera, it can't show because the Raw data needs to be first demosaiced using a dedicated Raw converter like ACR or Canon DPP. What you see is the embedded jpeg preview the camera produces for this purpose and for using in Finder and other systems that can only view jpeg.
I did try downloading it to a different hard drive directly from the camera...I was able to view the image for about 30 seconds before it corrupted. As I mentioned, for this particular image I actually did a full ACR edit and created a jpg from the RAW file yesterday.
Here we are getting to the strange part of the problem. Can you provide a screenshot of the problem file?
When this happened about 6 months ago, after re-creating a file in the adobe library (unfortunately I can't remember where it was or what the file name was)...it stopped.
That probably would mean the Cache file and plug in from the User library / caches/ Adobe/ Bridge CSxx / Cache and plug in
or from same user library / preferences / Bridgexx plist file. Both files are recreated fresh and empty after restarting Bridge
I was actually able to go back to the corrupted images (4 out of 6) and view the corrupted images and edit them normally!
Try to reset the default setting in ACR
It just started again recently and I have 5 or 6 images that it's happened to. The first 5 corrupted as soon as I loaded them in ACR, this is the first one that corrupted after I edited it. I've tried opening them in iphoto and Canon DPP and they initially preview normally and then corrupt once they fully load the jpg preview.
Can you show both results from ACR and DPP in a screenshot?

  • When will Elements11 support CR2 files from Canon 70D  ? Or is an upgrade necessary ?

As it is now RAW files from Canon 70D is not recognized by Elements 11. And Adobe don't ship any upgrade, only to Lightroom and PCC/Bridge. Is there a workaround ?

PSE 11 will not be upgraded to support this camera. You need either:
    Purchase PSE12 or PSE13 ... or ...
Download and install and use the free Adobe DNG Converter version 8.2 or later, convert your RAWs to DNG and then import the DNGs into PSE 11

  • Mac does not recognize CR2 files from Canon T2i

First, I am posting in this forum because I need help for a problem that I think only experienced photographers could answer, even though I don't use Aprerture (or iPhoto).
I borrowed a friend's EOS-1D Mark II and shot using the camera raw format. My Mac could see the files and even open them in Preview. I am using PShop CS3 on a Mac running 10.5. Because of this, I have to use Adobe DNG converter so I could open them in Photoshop. I cannot afford to upgrade either the OS or Photoshop right now.
I decided to start shooting in the raw format with my EOS Rebel T2i. I formatted an SD card and changed the camera's settings to shoot RAW. When I moved the files to my Mac to open them, instead of thumbnail previews, I saw 'exec' icons, even though the file extension says .CR2. I tried to convert them with DNG Converter, and it said there were no recognizable files to convert. I changed the setting in the camera to save the file as both a RAW and jpeg file. The CR2 file was still not recognized, but the jpeg is.
I thought installing "RAW Camera Update 2.7" from Apple's website would solve the problem. (Currently, "RAW Camera Update 2.1.2" is in my Library.) The problem is that ver. 2.7 requires either Aperture or iPhoto 9, or my Mac won't install it. I don't think the issue is with the 3rd party software, because the Mac 'sees' the image files taken with the Mark II, but not the T2i.
    I am stumped.

I solved my problem through dumb luck, but maybe it will help other people who are still using CS3:
I had used the version of Adobe DNG Converter for the CR2 files from the Mark II: version 5.4 for CS3. On a whim, I decided to try downloading version 6.2 for CS5. It is a stand-alone app, and if it didn't work, I could just uninstall it. or it simply wouldn't install.
    A funny thing happened:
I ran the installer successfully, but when I checked my applications folder, it said I still had version 5.4, and a search for version 6.2 only showed the dmg. Huh. So I dropped a CR2 file on the icon of the version I still had, and it converted! Yay!
The CR2 files still have the 'exec' icons, of course, but once the file is converted to dng, the thumbnails are there.
Canon said it was up to software developers to make things compatible, and apparently the only difference between the RAW file for the Mark II and the T2i, for instance, is a tag buried deep in the file that IDs the camera it came from. I could have used the software that came with the camera, but it converts the CR2 straight into a jpeg, and I want to open it and make adjustments with Photoshop's RAW/DNG editor before opening it in PShop proper, to preserve the most information I can. I am mentioning this only because Canon's suggestion was to use their camera's software, so that is an option, but imo, it defeats the purpose of using RAW to begin with.

  • Converter not finding CR2 files from Canon 5D III

I installed v7.1 of the dng converter to convert CR2 files from a new Canon 5D Mark III for use in Lightroom 3.6.  However, the program does not recognize the CR2 files whether in the original folder on the camera memory card or transferred to a folder on my hard drive.  The Canon Digital Photo Pro will open the CR2s so I know they are good files.  Any ideas? [OS is Windows 7 Pro]

If you ever need to convert just one image or a few images, you can just drag those images onto the icon for the DNG converter, and it will open and convert those images.

  • CR2 files from Canon 70D in Elements 11 on windows Vista

I cannot get Photoshop 11 to recognize (open) CR2 files from my Canon 70D camera. Running Windows Vista. Is there an update for this for Vista.

    Photoshop Elements 11, you mean?
The 70D requires Camera Raw 8.2 or later
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
8.2 is only compatible with Elements 12 or later
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
    Either
    upgrade to Elements 12, or
Download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all the Raw files from the 70D to DNGs then open the DNGs in Elements 11

  • PSE 11 won't open CR2 files from Canon PowerShot G15.

I was interested in PSE 11 so I could use ACR 7.x to open the raw (CR2) files from my new Canon PowerShot G15 camera--but even after updating the files, PSE 11 won't recognize my camera!  It's still not listed in the group of supported cameras on the Adobe website(s).  This camera has been out for a few months (at least!), so it's unbelievable that Adobe still won't support those files.  They only go through the G12, not up to G15.

  • .CR2 files from Canon DSLR

I have been importing .CR2 files from the flash memory card via a Promaster CF Card Reader.
This has been working very reliably into iPhoto for several months.
Yesterday I got a message that the file type was not recognized.
Now I can't get them to load without taking them through the "back door" first.
Did something change in iPhoto just recently?
I have not changed the OS in the camera, am using the same CF cards, the same computer, the same iPhoto version.
    Doesn't make any sense.
    Help.

Now I can't get them to load without taking them through the "back door" first.
    What's the "back door"?

  • Updated to latest ACR 6.6 but still can't open CR2 files from Canon Rebel XSi

I updated to latest version of Adobe Camera Raw 6.6 but still can't seem to open my CR2 files in Photoshop. Can't open them in Lightroom either, no preview in Bridge or OS.
    I'm running OS 10.7.2 and Photshop 12.1 x 64 which is CS5.1 I suppose.
I've downloaded Canon's EOS utility hoping that would somehow do something as well but nothing.
The images were shot on Canon Rebel XSi which is certainly supported by the newest version of ACR. So I have no clue as to what's happening... I previously downloaded these images onto my old laptop about a year ago and everything was fine, however now I'm not even getting a preview in OS. Do I have to revert to an older version of ACR (perhaps the same one I used originally?) to open these files again? These files have been stored on a hard drive, so I'm not downloading them directly from the camera-again, this probably has nothing to do with it but not sure what to do. A lot of the posts I've seen recommend downloading the latest version of ACR to fix the issue, but again I've done that and as a matter of fact the camera (Rebel XSi) has been supported for some time now...
In OS, when the image is selected no preview:
    Lightroom error:
    Bridge, no preview:
    Photoshop error:
    Ideas, suggestions?

Something appears to be wrong with your files.
Are most of your images approx. 3.7 MB?
This is very small for a 12 MP image.
If you go back to the original file on your laptop, what is the file size?
Also the fact that the Mac OS is not showing the preview is unusual.
Perhaps these files got corrupted when they were moved to your new computer.
Can you open these files OK on your old laptop?
Is the OS showing the previews on your old laptop?
Also compare the file sizes between old and new computer.
Have you tried repairing your permissions?
Try Disk Utility in your Macs Applications - Utilities - Disk Utility to see if this helps.
    Good Luck!

  • After updating Bridge & PS, still unable to view CR2 files from Canon M3

I cannot view CR2 Raw files from the Mark III on Bridge CS6 and Photoshop CS6 to convert into TIF and JPG files for a client. I have updated all of my Adobe programs, restarted, and the files are still not showing up for me. Help please!

    Thank you for elaborating.
Your system should absolutely be opening those files.  Any of the versions of ACR (Adobe Camera Raw Plug-in) that run with Photoshop 13.0.6 can and will open those files if properly installed, that includes the current version, ACR 8.6.
Go to About Plug-In > Camera Raw… in the Photoshop menu and see what version shows up there, just to check that the plug-in is installed correctly.  There should only be one version of ACR in the plug-in menu.
That Canon camera model has been supported ever since ACR versions 6.7 in CS5 and 7.1 in CS6.
If ACR only shows once in the plug-in menu and you still cannot open your file(s), then you in all probability have corrupted files.
The fact that you can see the images in Apple's Preview means nothing, only that Preview is showing you the embedded JPEG preview embedded in the file. Such JPEG previews generally do not get corrupted even if the raw file has been corrupted.
I hope you have the original CR2 files or good backups.

  • CR2 files from Canon EOS 7D

I am attempting to download pictures from my Canon EOS 7D and it will download only 2 of the 111 I hae on the memory card and claims the ramining 109 are in an incompatible CR2 format.  The two pictures it is downloading are also in the same CR2 file format & I've used this same exact camera half a hundred times to download into iPhoto using exclusively the CR2 RAW format (most recently as of last night & it worked just fine then), so I can't figure out why all the sudden it's refusing to work.  Anybody have any ideas on a fix?
Note: I have iPhoto version 9.5.1 & OSX 10.9.2.  Both fully upgraded.

It ould be a glitch on the card.
Can you access them with Image Capture (in the Applications Folder)?

  • Bridge 5.4 doesn't show thumbnails of .CR2 files from Canon 50D

I downloaded bridge5.4 now my CR2 files taken from my Canon50D are not loaded as thumbnails in Bridge, the drop down menu displayed when clicking on them does not show the "Open in Camera Raw fundction". What should I do?

If after purging the cache and rebuilding it and camera raw still does not work it either means the current version does not support the camera (if new camera), you have the ACR file in the wrong folder, or there is more than one version in the folder.
Open up PS and click on help/about plug-in/camera raw.  It will tell you what is there.

  • CR2 files from Canon Rebel XSi won't open in CS2

Ok, so I have a powerbook G4 with Tiger Mac OS X and CS2 student version. I am basically computer illiterate so feel free to state the obvious here.
I bought a new Canon Rebel XSi and have been shooting raw CR2 files. I have done this in the past with a Canon EOS 1D Mark II and never had a problem... now the error window pops up saying my file is unrecognizable. I did the only things I know how to do which was to check for updates and verify permissions in disc utility - this did not help.
Still thinking it was my computer or the software I backed everything up and wiped the hard drive clean by erasing and reinstalling the original discs and then reloading CS2 and again doing all of the updates - this did not help.
I have spent 3 days reading in these forums and trying to clear caches and download DNG's (by the directions into the right library) and still it does not work. I even downloaded trial versions of CS3 and CS4.
Now I'm sure my computer is a downloaded mess and I still have no access to my raw files!
    Please Please Please help me!

    You're welcome, Nikki.

<br />&gt;what do you do with the paper with a hard drive icon on it when you download something?
    <br />
    <br /> I assume you mean the
    <i>disc image file</i> with a ".dmg" extension.
    <br />
<br /> Personally I keep any such disc image file if its contents prove successful and discard it when a new version comes along that also proves to work OK. Otherwise, I delete them right away. It's your choice. I prefer to have the dmg file around in case I have to install its contents again for whatever reason without having to download it again.
    <br />
<br /> That being said, I don't keep anything on my desktop,
<b>ever</b>. I download everything to a "Downloads" folder inside my Documents folder.

  • Cr2 files from canon 1d-mk3

  • Cannot open CR2 files from Canon T4i with Photoshop CS5

    Please help

    tienstran,
Don't hold your breath.  You will NEVER be able to  open raw files from a Digital Rebel T4i EOS 650D EOS Kiss X4i directly in CS5.
There wil not be any further updates for CS5, ever.  The last version of ACR that will ever run with CS5 is ACR 6.7.1, and you are correct that you need at least ACR 7.1 (or higher) to open your files.
On the other hand, you are wrong about support for your camera in the free Adobe DNG Converter.  All versions of the Adobe DNG Converter form 7.1 and up—including the Adobe DNG Converter 8.1—do support your camera model.
Once a version of either ACR or the Adobe DNG Converter supports a given camera model, all subsequent versions will continue to support it.
So, go and download the Adobe DNG Converter 8.1 and convert your raw Canon files to raw DNG files that you can now open in any version of ACR that will run with CS5.
Remember:  the Adobe DNG Converter works on folders containing your raw files, it does not see the individual files in the folder.  You must point the Adobe DNG Converter to the folder itself, not the files.

  • Can't put CR2 files from Canon Rebel T5i on PSE 11? How do I get them to load?

I keep trying to put my CR2 files on photoshop elements 11 and I can't. It keeps saying my camera is not compatilble. I use a Canon Rebel T5i. How do I get it load? Do I need to update my program? I really need to get this images up and editted asap! Help, please!

You should be able to open the Canon Rebel T5i/700d camera raw files with pse 11 if you update to camera raw 7.4
In the pse 11 editor go to Help>Updates and hopefully that should download and install camera 7.4
