  • Raw file from Canon 7D not readable to LR 1.4 & CS3

Just purchased a Canon 7d and having problem exporting Raw file to both LR 1.4 and CS3.
    Can anybody help? Thanks.

Read this: Unable to open camera raw file in Photoshop. Some of the links in this Technote are out of date.
To support newer cameras in older version of Lr and Ps will require converting the CR2 raw files to DNG using Adobe's free DNG Converter (latest is 6.0 but 6.1 is just around the corner).
By the way, the soon to be released Lr 3 is far superior to Lr 1.4 and version 3 supports the 7D (as does the current version Lr 2.7). Only versions of Camera Raw available for Ps CS4 and CS5 support the 7D.

  • Unable to open CR2 RAW file from canon 5D mark III

Installed cs6 which seemed to be working just fine until I attempted to open a CR2 file from a canon 5D Mark III, will not open, checked for RAW updates, nothing.

Hello, you will need to install Camera Raw 7.1 RC available in the labs: http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/cameraraw7-1/

  • CANNOT import RAW files from CANON 40D to Lightroom 1.2

My color setup in 40D is sRGB
    my system is windows XP
but when I want to import files from my CF card
it will show the message: some import operation were not performed.
the files use an unsupported color mode.
pls tell me how to solve this problem~

Sorry for the above post. My daughter hit the keyboard. I am having the same trouble and I have tried shooting in Standard Raw and with the attached Jpg. I get a message that states it is a unsupported color format. Any ideas? It sounds like everyone else has got this to work but it simply will not work for me. I am running Vista if that makes a difference.

Is the 7D Mk II in the "supported cameras" list?

It's a brand new body - Lightroom has no idea what to do with its files.

Mine does not. If there is an upgrade, please remind me where to obtain it.

Yes, the Canon 7D has been supported since version 5.6.
You should always use the latest version of the Adobe DNG Converter, currently version 6.2.

    Try installing it manually from:

  • I have Photoshop Elements 9. I downloaded the plug in 6.0 and it works on the RAW files from Canon EOS 60D, but not with Canon EOS 70D. I cannot download higher versions of plug in, because I have Windows Vista and it is not supported.

You could try using the DNG converter 8.7 on Windows vista:

  • Lightroom 4.  dose not handle RAW files from canon 5D MK 111.

I have purchased lightroom 4. It dose not handle RAW files from canon 5D MK 111.
I have downloaded and ran the suggested file from Adobe, but still no luck.
    Anyone have the answer?

The initial release of Lightroom 4 doesn't handle the 5d mk 3 files because of when the camera was released.  You can either wait for the 4.1 release, or you can download the 4.1 Release Candidate 2 at http://labs.adobe.com/technologies/lightroom4-1/.
Technically you can also download Adobe's DNG converter, but that just adds another program to the situation.

  • DNG converter not converting RAW files from Canon 70D.

DNG converter not converting RAW files from Canon 70D (it does not see them). I tried DNG converter version 8.2 and 8.4. No success. I use iMac. What is wrong?

hopefully, that's a typo on adobe's website because they list the canon 70d as using a .cs2 file extension, http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
i don't see any other camera that uses a .cs2 extension and i don't see other people having problems, so that probably is a typo.
in any case, cr 8.2 or better is able to convert your camera's raw files.  why you are having a problem i can't say, but double check that you are navigating to the correct folder by adding a file that will show up in your dng converter.

Which Canon camera exactly? There is no EOS D.

  • CR2 download files from Canon 70D

When will Photoshop Elements 11 update their software to accept CR2 (Raw) files from my new camera Canon 70D?  The software previously accepted CR2 files from my older camera (Canon 50D). This new camera is NOT on the list of cameras that are in the 2012 list of cameras that the software recognizes for Raw images.

    Photoshop Elements 11, you mean?
The 70D requires Camera Raw 8.2 or later
    http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/camera-raw-plug-supported-cameras.html
8.2 is only compatible with Elements 12 or later
    http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/global/camera-raw-compatible-applications.html
    Either
    upgrade to Elements 12, or
Download the free Adobe DNG converter, convert all the Raw files from the 70D to DNGs then open the DNGs in Elements 11

  • When I open CR2 RAW files from Powershot G10 they are in black and white. How do I get colour

I'm using Elements 13 on a PC running Windows 8.1. Each time I open a CR2 RAW file from a Canon Powershot G10 it displays in black and white. The image transferred to Elements is still in black and white. Why can I not see the image in colour?

Try holding down your Alt or Option key. The Cancel button in the Raw dialog will change to Reset.
Click on that Reset, and hopefully it goes back to defaults.

  • Does "RAW files from Canon digital cameras cannot be downloaded" MATTER??

Need to buy new camera to use with my G5 and iPHoto 5. I desire (1) affordability, (2) more optical zoom than what I've had in past (want to move from 4x to 6x), and (3) compatible with my G5.
I've had 2 canon powershost (my last, the 570, but a kid dropped it). Easy to use. So maybe simliar, or something nicer.
Been studying the Canon web site about their various cameras. For the above reasons I like thePowerShot SX100 IS, about $240. 6x optical zoom.
HOWEVER, in the MAC OSX compatibility section at Canon it has this quote:
    * Mac OS X 10.1 and newer come with Image Capture drivers that support most of Canon's digital cameras with USB interfaces. When a compatible camera is connected to a compatible Mac computer running OS X 10.1 and newer, the computer detects the camera and automatically launches Image Capture. This Apple program allows JPEG images in the camera to be downloaded to the Macintosh. NOTE: RAW files from Canon digital cameras cannot be downloaded in OS X via Image Capture. We suggest the use of File Viewer Utility or an external card reader. Also, movie files shot with PowerShot cameras cannot be downloaded in OS X via Image Capture or iPhoto. We suggest the use of ImageBrowser or an external card reader.
Additionally, Image Capture can access JPEG images directly from a CompactFlash card using an OS X-compatible card reader or using a PC Card Adapter in the PC Card slot of an Apple PowerBook.**
This line caught me confused: *RAW files from Canon digital cameras cannot be downloaded*
In the past, I just plugged in the Canon Camera, and iPhoto 5 opened, and I h appily downloaded the picts and off and away I was.
Will this still happen??? And if I'm not getting the "RAW" picts (whatever that is), but just the JPEGS I'm used to, am I not getting "all" the picts, or the best that my camera could be given me for eventually printing?
    Am I worrying about nothing?
Finally, any camera suggestions? Under $300 , super picts, 5-10x zoom, and friendly with my Mac
    Thanks
    JON

You know, because you ask the question, I'll guess that it won't really matter to you...
Every camera shoots RAW - that's the total information that the sensor on the camera sees, but mid- and lower end cameras process this RAW data into an easy to use format such as jpegs.
Many (but not all) Pros demand that the camera provide all the data to the computer, so that the photographer can process the images him/her self. For most casual and family users this is not an issue. For the serious hobbyist and the Pro it might well be.
For more on Raw have a look at this:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rawimageformat
Btw, later versions of iPhoto do work with Some Raw formats.
    As to cameras:
I used a Canon S2 IS for a couple of years and found it really good. There's and S3 and an S5 now too. Currently I'm using a Panasonic FZ8. I really like it.
