*.cr2 won't open in Elements 10

I have just downloaded Elements 10, and to my disappointment, the .cr2-files from my Canon 60d won't open in Elements.
I have installed Camera Raw 6.5.0.216 and that did not help ... Can anyone assist?:-)

The EOS 60D only requires ACR 6.2; so 6.5 should definitely provide support for your CR2 files.
Can you check that the plug-in has actually installed correctly.

Photo won'[t open in elements 5

i have been successfully using elements 5 since it came out ( last with xp). I recently upgraded to vista, downloaded/installed the patch and have been successfully using elements 5 for about a month. however now it has started to open as normal but when I try to open a photo it just keeps acting like it is loading but the photo doesn't open( have left it go on for 5-10 min). if I go to the top bar (for closing etc) it stops responding. I can open the same files from lightroom 2 ( had that about 3+ weeks) but if I try to export them to elements they won't open there, it just keeps acting like it is working( it worked fine before). this is for all photos,those on my c and external drives( can open them otherwise just not in elements)
I have tried to repair elements, uninstalled and reinstalled twice and still can't open any photos. any ideas? a few days ago i installed the lightroom 2 update( .1 i think) but the lightroom seems to be working fine so don't really think that is doing it..otherwise haven't downloaded anything new. Hi Janet,
Are you working on Editor/Organizer. You might want to delete the preferences file - you can do this by launching the welcome screen, hold Shift+Alt+Control and click on Editor button. You would be prompted to delete the preferneces file and click ok. It might now work for you.
You mentioned that Elements worked fine for a month and is not working now?
Since you have tried re-installing and freezing error help, and the above workaround does not work for you, you could try doing a system restore which should help.

You have two alternatives:
(1) Upgrade to PSE 11. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)

Image won't open in Elements 10 from "Photo/Edit In" in LR4

I hope someone can help. I recently got a new BIG MAC, and have been loading my software.
The external editing preference to Elements 10 from Lightroom 4 will open Photoshop Elements, but will not open the image... I've reinstalled elements, reinstalled the preference, rebooted multiple times....

.CR2 files won't open with Elements 9 plug in

I get the following error message when I try to open .CR2 files: "Unable to use the Camera Raw plug-in. It is not compatible with this version of Photoshop Elements".
I'm using PSE 9.0.3 with Camera Raw 6.5 plug-in installed on Win7 32bit PC. The photos were taken with a Canon Rebel T3i which is on the compatibility list. The camera was just purchased in January and this is the first time I've tried to open RAW. I used the update inside Elements to make sure I had the most recent version of Elements and the plug-in. Can anyone tell me what I'm missing?

The 6.4.1 installer download seems to be the correct one. I was asking about the 6.5 installer, since that is the one that seems to be in place when you get the error message, whether it was the PS version and somehow PSE knows.
After your 6.4.1 install fails you might run the Adobe Support Analyzer to see if it finds any troubles:

You can try to search your entire hard-drive for Camera Raw.8bi and find all such files to see if they are all the same size and date or if some are older or newer, and post what you find, where.
Some of these files may be under hidden folders so you may need to go into your Explorer / Tools / Folder Options / View tab and enable Show hidden files folder a drives.

Photo Layers won't open in element 12, from Lightroom 5

I have tried exporting photos into elements as layers (From Lightroom) , once elements opens, nothing is showing. Curious if I am doing something wrong. If I just open the photos in elements and put them as layeres manually, it works fine. I was just under the assumption I could do it from light room as well.(the option is given hence the assumption) just as a sidenote I did change output from 16-8 bit in preferences, that didn't fix anything, just read that on another site

I recently loaded Photoshop Elements onto my MAC and attempted to use it to review and edit some images I took with my 7D Mark ii. Received the following message:
Could not complete your request because the file appears to be from a camera model which is not supported by the installed version of Camera Raw. Please visit the Camera Raw help documentation for additional information.
Managed to figure out that I need an update but when I downloaded and installed it (at least I think that's what I did), nothing changed. I feel obliged to admit that I'm a recent MAC convert and a Photoshop novice. ANY assistance would be appreciated!

It is not the version of Photoshop Elements, it is the version of Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) that is installed as a plug-in. In the PE Help menu, look for "Updates". Click it and let it work.
If you did it any other way, it won't work.

.pse multi-page document created in Elements 6 won't open in Elements 12.

Recently upgraded to Photoshop Elements 12 from version 6 (Mac). When I try to open a .pse multiple page document created in 6, I get the error message "can not open this multiple page document".

The only workaround i can think of offhand is to open the individual files that make up the pse into photoshop elements 12.
Right click on the pse file and click on Show Package Contents
Then in the finder window that opens you should see a folder with the individual psd files inside.
Those psd files should then open in the pse 12 editor.

Images won't open in Elements. Can't even create a new image.

I am trying to open .jpg images in Elements 12 running on Windows 8. File, Open, (select image from thumbnails provided in directory) Nothing happens. The image doesn't appear on screen. If I try to create a new image (File, New), nothing happens either. Please can anyone help? Thanks.

This behavior does sound really strange. Could you provide any screenshots of your workflow?

You need camera raw 8.4 for your camera, if it’s Digital Rebel T5 EOS 1200D EOS Kiss X70. It is not compatible with PSE11; so it’s a bit odd if that software was bundled with the camera except that it will work with jpegs. I suggest you download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your CR2 files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the DNG files will editable in PSE11(keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)

I am working off of Windows 7. My husband restarted the computer and it works fine now. But before you would click on the icon to open the program it would appear as if it were firing up and then just shut down with no message or anything. Cannon Rebel XS EOS CR2 files won't open in CS6

My photoshop is completely up to date, my RAW plug-in is up to date, and I even attempted to download the DNG converter all to no avail. No matter what I try my CR2 images won't open in anything. My camera is listed as one of the supported cameras. I've tried everything I could find on the forums and on other searches but still cannot get my files to open in Photoshop. The worst part is that they were opening last week prior to my updating. Are there any suggestions as to what I can do to get this solved?

If you have CS2 the latest version should be ACR 3.7.
ACR 4.x is only for CS3. If you download the 3.7 ACR and install it correctly ( be sure to follow the instructions precisely!) you should be OK.

When I click Elements 12 a screen pops up with a red install icon, I click it and it askes for the serial number. It won't let me type in letters only numbers. I already did the serial number once. How do I get this to work? I don't want to be a programer!

I would first go to the Intel Web site, and manually check for a more recent update. 2011 is a very long time ago. I find that the OS's driver update utility, or any driver utility, will likely be very out of date. For most programs, that does not usually matter much, but PrE really needs to interface VERY critically with that video driver.
If you have a Dell, Lenovo, HP, or other major mfgr's. computer, I would also check their Web site, as some of those companies will rewrap the video drivers for their specific version of the hardware and their specific version of the OS.
As for PrE running on one computer, but not the other, I would look closely to see if those two computers have the exact same video card, and video driver. If they do, then I would check to see if they each have the exact same Windows updates and hot-fixes applied. Even simple OS updates CAN render the video driver obsolete. That is why the major video chip companies update their drivers so very often. Intel, while making good chips, has not been nearly as good with driver support, as nVidia, or AMD/ATI. As mentioned above, the video driver is not so important for general computing (Intel's target), but programs, such as PrE, extreme games, or 3D work, require much more from the video driver - other programs will usually still run pretty well, but not programs, like PrE.
Good luck, and hope that Intel has a newer driver for you, that solves your issue.
