Hi Brian,
I'll email you directly the instructions how to get SP1. We temporarily took CR SP1 offline as we are fixing the installer to address issues where it is not detecting conflicting products at SP0 already installed on the machine. It should be refreshed and made available again in roughly a month's time.

64-Bit CR2008 Developer runtime

I know that I can switch all of my DLL references back to the basic version of CR that is bundled with Visual Studio to use the 64-bit compile option in visual studio.
My question is when will the CR2008 developer's version come out with 64-bit DLL's to refernce? Is there an ETA on this or is it even planned?

Simple answer is; Never. There are no plans to do a 64 bit build of CR 2008. The next version of CR (CR 2010?) will be 64 bit. The release is targeted for second half of 2010.

"Graphics Location" functionality not working in CR2008, using SP1 Runtime

I'm using Crystal Reports 2008 SP1 (BuildVersion=12.1.0.883.CR_Mira_RTM). In some of my reports I'm setting the graphic location to a web address. On my development machine this all works fine.
On my production server I've installed the SP1 Runtime Version (CRRuntime_12_1_mlb.msi)
and am running the reports via a Dot Net application. The images are not updating with the image from the web location.
If I then install Crystal Reports 2008 SP1 on that machine, without making any other changes, the images start to update with the image from the web location.
Can anybody tell me which DLL is being used to grab the image from the web so I can include it in my deployment package? Or can somebody tell me how to get the Graphic Location functionality to work with the Runtime version.
NOTE: During installation of the Runtime version, it prompts me for a Product ID. I can install the runtime if I leave it blank. I've tried that. I also tried just putting garbage in there and the error message comes back saying it's an invalid product KEY. So I've installed using my Crystal Reports 2008 Product key as well. Still no luck.

The product key is not coming into play I this case. Having said that, I am not sure what the issue may be, however you may be able to track down the dll by using the following utilities:
1) Modeules.exe, which can be downloaded from here:
https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip
2) Process Monitor, which can be downloaded from here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-ca/sysinternals/bb896645.aspx
Modules will allow you to compare the dlls on a server that has CRW32.exe and a system that had only the runtime. Process Monitor, may report a missing dll in it's logs.
Now, while it may be useful to find out the above, this being a web app typically means you need to install it on a limited number of servers, possibly just one? Since it is working now, it may be worth considering the ROI on figuring out the runtime(?). E.g.; it may not be worth the effort? If licensing is the worry, simply delete the CRW32.exe and you've eliminated the issue.

Oracle 11G Install on Win 7 With PL/SQL Developer Help Needed

Today is my first day with Oracle. I have tried to Install Ora11g from our network drive.I think the installation went fine. I also installated PL/SQL Developer when i try to log in i got the following error see below.

SQL*Net not properly installed

After i did some research online i found this solution "go to Tools > Preferences > options set manually "Oracle Home" to the folder of ORACLE_HOME and "OCI Library" to the oci.dll file located in ORACLE_HOME/bin/oci.dll"
C:\app\user\product\11.2.0\client_1\bin.dll <=== I believe this is my Oracle_Home
C:\app\user\product\11.2.0\client_1\bin\oci.dll <==== Is my OCI Library.
When i apply thse 2 paths i get the following error.

Pl indicate which version of Win 7 - you will need Professional or higher - Home versions are not supported/certified, so things may or may not work as expected.

Import data using Excel and Oracle SQL Developer - I need some help

Dear friends,
I'm using Oracle SQL Developer 1.5.1 and I need to import an Excel file into a database table. If I try to import this file in XLS format, fields and headers are correctly being shown and separated, but if I press "Next" button, it simply doesn't do anything - it stays stopped.
I did some search here in this forum and it seems to me that, when you try to import a file via XLS format, SQL Developer has bugs. Is this correct?
If I save the same file in CSV format and try to import the same file, it goes ahead, but SQL Developer is not separating fields and headers correctly. It combines all CSV fields into one - let's say Column0 and fields 1;TEST;01/01/2000 below the same Column0.
Saving the file in CSV format is not a problem, taking a very little time. But I don't know how to make SQL Developer import it correctly. Could somebody please help me? Thanks in advance.

NCS on OES11 SP1 needs eDir 8.8.7 or later. With a replica?

We have 3 replicas running, one NW 6.5SP8 and two OES2SP3 (eDir 8.8 SP6). These 3 servers are 32bit.
I'm about to test NCS in the lab (we've not used it before) and see on page 50 (4.6.3) of "clus_admin_lx.pdf" that eDir 8.8.7 is required for managing cluster objects.
Is it okay if we keep our existing replicas and not yet add a replica to our OES11SP1 servers?
I interpret that requirement as saying that we need to manage cluster objects using iManager on one of our OES11 SP1 servers which run eDir 8.8.7. No replica required, correct?

That would be for the specific version of NCS you are using that would
also have a say in which version of OES it runs on that should have that
version of eDir running on it.

Well since your new OES11sp1 servers will be the only ones with the
newer eDir on them (unless you are upgrading eDir on the older boxes) it
would be a good thing to have a replica on at least one of these eDir
8.8.7 boxes in case there happen to be any 8.8.7 specific objects or
attributes in the newer eDir. I don't know of any, but that doesn't mean
the developers haven't come up with some.

Technically yes. But I would still like to have at least one 8.8.7
hosted replica of the partition(s) containing the new boxes.

New on Game Develop - I need a Start Point :)

I know that this must be the topic most common, I develop applications to client/Server and I want to venture me in the development of a game (RPG). The problem is that I do not know where to start! Which are the class that I must use? Already exists some api in java to help me? If yes, which are they? The map, the players. I intend to make a basic game in 2d, as lufia (SNES), Final Phantasy VI (USA III - SNES). Which must be my starting point?

The beauty of Java is, pretty much everything you need is right there available.
There are other API's apart from the java standard, but I have not used any as of yet.
Java2D API is part of the standard edition java. It will handle transparency and everything else you may need to do an snesRPG clone.
Instance modeling will save you scads of time, make sure you know how to make and extend abstract classes, they will make your life easier, make sure you know how to time Threads properly.
The map will be a class, the class will actually serve as a sort of database for inividual tiles on the map. The class will be instanced from a 2 dimensional array with x and y values being the dimensions. You will need to have 3 or four layers of this map. The class will store the possition, image, and other important iformation about the individual tile.
You need to learn MediaTracker, you will most likely want to use AWT instead of Swing, you will need to learn how to use BufferedImage, etc.
Plan Plan Plan, and Plan more. RPG's are big projects, if you use linux, dia is your friend.
Work on little things like logic while you learn the other stuff you need such as Randoms, how to implement monsters and characters, and make them do battle, how to tell if they are dead, attacking, etc.
An RPG takes a very stubborn individual to successfully complete as one man project, if it doesn't work, there is a reason, find out what it is, and yes it has been done before in java. :-)
I have been assuming you are a good programmer, therefore I just scartched the surface for you to show you some of the things you need to plan for to get into game programming.

I just make apps at home on my mac, will i be able to upload free and paid apps on the app store if I only tick the box which says 'Apps (App Store)'do i need to tick the 'in house apps' box. i really dont know what to do from here. Attend the 5 stage wedding i have to go to, and then come back and start using it. In pakistan you have to worry more about not getting shot then making a dev account.

Netweaver Developer Workplace need a license?

I installed the one with maxDB to depoy and test webdynpro application at my desktop.
Why SAP is asking for a license for developer edition.
If I install the preview release fromSDN, it is not nw04s SP 11. Our production system is at this level.
I need to write code and test it on the same version.
Do i have to apply for a license key as a normal SAP portal license. Does SAP charge heavily for this.
I need to answer these questions to the management.

Once you log into Visual Admin.->Server -> Services -> Licensing Adapter you will see a Hardware key ....give that hardware key to a basis guy who can request the license along with your system name ...once he makes a request for it ..it will be automatically generated and sent back in the form of a .txt file ...then go again to the Visual Admin. and import this file..

BW upgrade - landscape / development paths - need help

hi - is there any whitepaper or oss note that helps provide some best practice for how to handle a landscape during a bw upgrade.
normally you would have the "normal" path to production where development occurs and is transported up. and normally in an upgrade there is some sort of dual-path i believe. the alternate path would be used for emergency transports.
if there were no development going on this wouldn't be a problem, but we have lots of development that the business will want to be able to continue during as we move through a planned ~9 month bw upgrade. at some point it has to be really frozen, but i think for the larger portion of the project there can be a workaround to allow development to continue.
any help is appreciated.

There are 2 main options:
1. Duel landscape, 1 for Dev and 1 for sustaiment.
2. Parallel work on 2 dev's and QA is refreshed and frozen before major releases.
3. a third option is multi clients (We explored it but did not think it is viable).

I am at MAX 2005 and have my PB with me. On my G5 at home I have somehow acquired a developer toolbar (or whatever it is called) in Safari. A speaker here was just asking about it and not only do I not have it here on this machine I also cannot find anything about it anywhere online.

Developer's need to know things: Essbase as datasource for OBIEE

I am in a project where Essbase is the datasource. I know nothing about Essbase but I an experienced OBIEE prof. Can anyone tell me the things I need to know about integrating Essbase with OBIEE, using Essbase cubes in obiee. I looking for some basic fundamentals of Essbase so I could successfully use Essbase cubes with OBIEE.
