Crack between bottom cover and unibody

Hello!
I have replaced my MacBook's HDD, and since I have done that, a small crack appeared between the bottom cover and the unibody at the left side of the notebook.
I have tried to fix it by bending the bottom cover a bit, but this doesn't seem to make any difference. Is this crack a normal phenomenon, or is there a way to fix this?
Hope someone can answer this question for me!
With kind regards,
Jeffrey van den Broek

Not normal for the bottom case to crack, Would make sure the top case was installed correctly, they have gray spacer type locks that slide in and out on the sides and front, one could be mis-aligned and putting pressure on the case, also over tighten screws could be causing the problem.

No, I don't think so if it's through mishandling.

  • HP DV7 6135 bottom cover and battery won't stay in

For the past few months, when I picked up my laptop, sometimes the battery and/or the panel popped off. It was annoying and I even made sure the slider was in proper position but I noticed that the battery would pop out with just a gentle touch.  It gets really annoying when the battery pops out unexpectedly while I was just moving such as to change position on a chair or to walk to use the restroom.  Once the 12-cells pack missed my toe and left a half-inch deep dent in the wood floor, battery has never worked since and had to be replaced, thanks HP!
Today the bottom panel has popped out yet again and this time a few little black pieces came down with it, and the panel won't stay in anymore. Looking under bright flash light, it seems the plastic slider that normally locked or released both the battery and the panel has several broken pegs and cracks.  Looking in Google, it seems to be a common problem with 6000 series DV7?  Is there anything I can do short of buying an used 6000 series cheap off eBay and swapping the bottom shell?  Gluing the panel is one option but not the battery as I switch between 2 if I'm away from power source a long time.
Replacing it outright with a non-HP brand laptop is also an option but it gets costly when one factors in getting a new battery or 2 for long power on time in the field. Batteries are generally not cross-brand compatible (ie HP battery won't work in Dell model)

  • Bottom cover of unibody Mac

I brought 4 gb of RAM and upgraded it simply enough today. I put the back cover on just as the manual says, but now it doesn't feel lined up, and if I press down on the left side of my mac the cover feels loose, even though all the screws are tightened as much as I can. I have taken it off and tried to place it back lots of times, but still the same. Any suggestions?

in the Mac guide it says that both sides should clip in. I hear the click from one side but not the other. The side I hear the click from is where it is loose :/

  • Y510p - accidentally broken bottom cover

Hi, I have the y510y model for a while. Great machine and I'm taking care of it.
But yesterday on my way home some **bleep** pushed me in the tube trying to go out and teared my lap top back on oone side where the holder is. And my lap top fell on the floor!!  When I got home and checked for damages of course there were... It is not a big one but it is still there - my right corver top bolt seems to be broker or damaged and there is tiny little bit loose space. My lap top on the other hand is working perfectly. I've never ever dropped it before or managed it somehow.
So my question is - can I buy that bottom cover and replace it? How and where? Will that affect my warranty as I have paied for 3 years an year ago when I bought the machince?

  • Cracks near hinges and bottom cover falling off

My 2010 MacBook is cracked at the hinges and the bottom cover is warped and slowly falling off. Can I get these fixed for free?

It would be worth asking at an Apple store!
When I had a battery replaced a year or so ago, my bottom cover was improperly replaced and appeared warped.
Without batting an eye, they offered to replace it - no charge.
I thought they were just being kind but it turns out it's a common problem on MacBooks from a certain time period (circa2010), so it is Mac's POLICY to replace them without charge when they warp!

I have the same cracks appearing at the hinges (no bumps or drops, only a well-traveled and much used Mac!) but haven't asked about what obtaining a replacement shell would entail. If I do so before you, I'll reply again with what the terms / cost of replacement would be!

  • Macbook bottom cover warped and separating

My Macbook will be  3 years old this March.  I always use it on a surface designed for a laptop to allow what I thought was sufficient airflow, but still the bottom has warped from the heat.  The store where I purchased it  said they would replace it  (the bottom cover) at no charge. Will this just happen again?  Just curious if anyone else has experienced this.  I am now placing it on a teak shower seat with slats to  provide even more air or when I can I aim a fan at the bottom. I only use this particular Macbook at home.  It is my go to computer and other than this I am very happy with it.

Thanks for the battery suggestion.  I found a related link that mentioned this was a common issue in models shipped between Oct. 2009- April 2011   http://www.apple.com/support/macbook-bottomcase/

  • Tissue between the glass and cover

A small tissue is stuck between the glass and the cover of my z2 and when i tried to remove it it gets inside more and more and now I guess it is inside the phone. If he is water and dust proof how a tissue should stuck in the corner of the phone

That's normal, there's a gap all around the screen, your phone is still waterproof, I believe that the gap its to reduce the chances of the screen cracking if its dropped

Click on the Apple and then on about this Mac. In the new window, click on the "version 10.9.2" until you see the serial number displayed.

  • The plastic hinge between my screen and the computer (macbook pro retina) is cracked and doesn't hold the screen anymore? Can Apple change it?

The hinge between my screen and my computer (macbook pro retina) has cracked and doesn't hold the screen anymore. Can I fix it without changing my screen. And if it's still on guarantee does Apple have to repair it?

Apple can fix any and all of their computers.  Whether it would be charged to you would be the question.   Do you have AppleCare?
Accidental damage is not covered by AppleCare.
    How old is this computer?

My Ipad 3 slid down from the Smart Cover and the glass is now cracked. What can I do?

Accidental damage isn't covered by the warranty (unless you are in the US and have AppleCare+ which I think covers 2 cases of damage for an excess). I don't know what country that you are in, but in the US the price for repair (i.e. replacement) for the iPad 3 is (from here) $299, and here in the UK (from here) £256.44 . Are you need to an Apple store that you could go into ?

  • Swelling in iPhone 3GS battery, and cracking of back cover.

    I need some help.
I updated my iPhone 3GS 16GB to iOS 5.0.1, and I think it causes the phone to overheat or something. Next day when I see my phone, the battery is drained out and the back is swollen like a ballon, the back cover has some cracks too (near the logo).
Today, after 2/3 days when I checked my phone again the battery has kept of bending/swelling that it has opened the iphone pushing the back cover and front screen.
The phone was bought in US, and I have moved back to India. Can someone help me on what to do or who to contact?
    Thanks

Since you are outside the country of purchase, you are not going to be able to get it serviced. Also, since you are presumably not using AT&T for service, the phone had to be hacked. That means all bets are off. My money would be on a physical defect in the battery or charging circuit that caused the problem, but it's entirely possible that since the OS had to be modified to get it to run on your carrier, that could have caused the charging circuit to behave in a way it shouldn't have. Dispose of it safely. DO NOT just throw it in the trash.
