Crack On the Screen

sooooooooooo today was using my xperia z1 and it droped from 1ft of the ground which is carpet and devoloped a crack what does the warrenty cover considering there no marks just screen is cracked

I can't see anything in your photo - are you sure it's not just a scrape on the ASF film can sometimes be hard to tell
As for warranty - there is no manufacturers warranty on the planet that covers for accidents, you need extra cover for that - you admitted yourself dropping the phone from 1 foot onto carpet !!   and please don't take offence and I'm not saying it is not true - but do you really expect anyone to actually believe you broke the screen dropping the phone onto a carpet floor ? and never mind from only a height of 12"  seriously ?
and I'm not accusing you of telling porkies I'm simply saying - who is going to believe it
my phone hit a concrete floor hard last night from chest hieght and then got stood on and grinded screen down - it has deep scrapes in the ASF that could easily be confused with cracks
hope you get it sorted

They can fix it at the Apple Store. I wish you could get it fixed for free, but the warranty doesn't cover accidents like this . It sounds like you understand this, I just want to make sure you know.

No. Damage caused by the user is not covered by warranty. A replacement iPad mini is $219 for the 1st generation, or $249 for the iPad mini with Retina display.

  • I have an iPhone 4s that is still covered under the AppleCare Protection Plan. I have a pretty significant crack across the screen and wanted to know if I have to pay any additional fees to replace the screen or replace the entire phone.

I have an iPhone 4s that is still covered under the AppleCare Protection Plan. I have a pretty significant crack across the screen and wanted to know if I have to pay any additional fees to replace the screen or replace the entire phone.
I was hesitant to purchase this protection plan at first about $70, but the customer service agent reassured me that there were no deductables and thats why I bought into it. But now that I look around on the support site, I see that it says that there are up to two incidents covered for a service fee of $49. Did I really get duped?

If the issue is a manufacturing defect, there is no cost to have the device replaced.
If the issue is a result of user damage (like a cracked screen) and you have AppleCare+ Apple will replace the device for the minimal fee of $49.  They will do this up to two times during the timeframe of the protection plan.
If the issue is the result of user damage and you do not have AppleCare+ then the Out of Warranty replacement cost is $199 for the 4S.
No, you were not duped, you were simply not completely informed.  Whether that was a result of them not sharing all the information or you only hearing what you wanted, no one here knows.

  • I dropped my ipod 2nd Generation, and now the screen turned white   there're many cracks in the screen. But im pretty sure the touchscreen still works. Is there any way my screen can work again? so that it isn't white? pls help

    Please help

I'm in no way an iPod technician - but I have the same model as you.  If you have cracks in the screen, I'm pretty sure you need to get the screen replaced.  You can see what's involved by looking here:
    http://www.rapidrepair.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=cp-ipodtouch2g
Unless you're already an electronic technician, you'd be better off having it repaired.
Having said that, you might compare the repair price with what a newer iPod Touch would cost you.  Here's just one sample page with pricing:
    http://www.amazon.com/iPod-Computers/b?ie=UTF8&node=13660271
If you buy a used one, it might be just a little more than the repair cost.
(.....strange - I just came here to the forum to ask a questioin about my own iPod 2nd gen device, which I might be replacing with a newer one....)

  • My Ipod 4th Gen screen got viciously cracked an the screen is unresponsive. Can I get it fixed?

Okay, so, I just found my Ipod today after it has been lost for two months. It was under my recliner in my living room. Both buttons are functional and work and it charges just fine. However, there's one big vicious crack near the bottom left corner. It looks as if someone dug their heel into it. Then, near the button, the glass is tore up. It doesn't look like much damage happened other than that in that area. But, when I turn on the ipod, the screen has vertical blue and red lines on the side and one horizontal green line in the middle. And there's horizontal white lines that are on the bottom of the screen. Also, in the bottom left hand corner of the screen (which is near the bad crack I mentioned) it's got a white cloud with grey in the middle. It covers where the begining of where you would swipe to unlock the ipod. Which, I cannot do. But once I charged it and it flashed to put in the code, whenever I put my finger near the button, it would press that button even though I didn't touch it. The upper half of the touch screen works perfectly, just not the bottom half.
Now, I really need to get to my notes on it. None of my notes are on my email, so that's not an option. I need to know if I can just get this repaired, so I can use it, or if it is past the point of repair and I have to replace it.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $199 for 64 GB 4G and $99 for the other 4Gs. They do not fix yours.

  • My new iPad had a defect, but I just dropped it and there's a crack on the screen. What to do?

Okay so I pre ordered the new iPad in white with 4G and it arrived on the 19th. It looked fine, but I've been having issues with the home button. Also, it frequently turns off by itself when I'm in the middle of doing something. I'm having trouble with syncing my apps onto it too, but I don't know if that's because of a problem with the device.
I haven't had time to go to the store (it's pretty far) to get it looked at this week, so today morning I made an appointment for this Wednesday. Not long after, which is just a few minutes ago, I was at my desk and had my iPad on my lap. When I reached over to get something, it slid off and dropped to the floor. I would have completely gone insane at the fact that it fell, but I wasn't worried at all because the drop was only a couple inches higher than a foot from the floor. Also, when I picked it up the screen was face up. I immediately investigated the back for any scratches just in case, but not a single mark. I was so relieved but right when I flip it back over I see several cracks on the upper right corner of it (it's white so the cracks aren't clearly visible at some angles). I'm so surprised that it didn't survive the short fall.
I am aware that Apple's limited warranty doesn't cover accidental damage... I was planning on getting Apple Care when I went to the store on Wednesday.
From previous experiences, I am almost positive that the defect before this incident would have been covered by the limited warranty..
But I'm assuming I'll have to pay for a replacement... but this is so upsetting because I've been waiting five months for this third generation to be released and all this happens before a week of being an iPad owner :/
I was wondering if there are any chances of me getting this replaced without having to pay what I originally didn't have to ?
Honestly, if I was a worker, I wouldn't believe this situation myself.

You're right, it would have been covered under warranty. But because of the user damage, chances are there's a 200-something dollar fee . If you explain to them that it had a defect previously, they might replace it for you at no charge. **MIGHT**. But they would have to believe that it had a defect previously.

  • My brother dropped my iphone 6 on tile and its cracked and the screen is white with different colored lines down it. What do you suggest I do???

Cracked iPhone 6 screen and screen is all white with different colors going down it. What do I do???

Take it in for repair or exchange. Be prepared to write a pretty big check unless you bought AppleCare+.
If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.

Believe it or not, I believe my dog jumped onto my iPad and now it looks like there is a crack under the glass and the device doesn't work where the crack is. HELP.

  • Re: Crack on the screen;

I have an Iphone 4 which is less than a year old, unfortunately my little son threw it on the ground and a single crack formed on the screen. I would like to ask if Apple can help me to repair the phone while I pay the cost?
    Osman

Apple charges US $149 to replace the screen & digitizer, same cost as an out of warranty replacement. Make an appointment at an Apple store.

  • I have this refurbished I pod touch 4G and I just got it like a month ago. I held it in the sunlight and I spot a tiny hairline crack on the screen it's from the edge to up a little. I haven't dropped it at all. I need to know ASAP what to do

I need to know ASAP how this will affect me what will happen over time and what should I do. I can't spend more money!

Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store. Explain what happened. Frequently with normal use a crack can grow causing problem with the touch function of the screen.

  • I have a crack in the screen of my iPad?

My iPhone dropped on to the screen of my iPad and it cracked the edge of it. Is there any way it can be replaced or have the screen replaced? There is an Apple Store near to where I live, maybe if I took it there they would be able to tell me? It's just the crack has shattered the black part of the iPad and it looks horrible!

  • Can I replace an iPhone 5 with a defective lock button and a crack in the screen?

I have an iPhone 5 with a defective lock button. It doesn't work at all anymore and I'm debating going into an Apple Store to get it replaced. But I also have a small crack in the corner. Will that crack keep me from making the exchange?

If apple determines that the damage to the phone was accidental then they may not help.  I suggest you make an appointment at an apple store and have them evaluate it.  That is the only way you will find out if they will replace it for you

  • My ipad was dropped recently and cracked throughout the screen.  I was curious if I had to replace the actual glass screen or just the digitizer?

I dropped my screen and was curious if I had to buy a new digitizer or an actual new piece of glass to replace it.

Depends on the damage to the iPad. Dropping it can cause some internal damage so the whole iPad may need to be replaced. You need to call Apple for their replacement options or go through Insurance (Home & Contents etc) to get it done.
