Cracked Glass. Please Help.
My worst nightmare came true yesterday. As I was getting out of my car, my brand new iPod Touch 4G slipped from my hand and onto the pavement below. My stupid case from Amazon has yet to arrive, and surely enough, the lower left portion of my screen is badly cracked. I am so upset. This is not covered under the protection plan which makes me very mad, and no repair facilities are making these repairs yet. From what I understand, both the glass and LCD will need to be replaced. Anyone have any suggestions? I would have to assume this would not be covered under the 30 day warrenty? Could I try to return it and argue that it is a piece of crap for shattering from a less than 2 foot fall? Any suggestions would help. THANKS!

Ipod has a one year warranty, and no dropping your iphone is not covered.

Glass can break from almost any fall. If it lands right. Many, have dropped from higher and no damage. It is just bad luck.
Have you called the Apple Store to see if they offer repairs for this?

Ihave downloaded/paid for a plug in from adobe site (cracked backgrounds) it told me ti install Creative Cloud which i have done it shows the plug in on there as downloaded but i cannot install it into lightroom 5 to use? i have tried the plug in manger but it says cannot install plug in..also downloaded the Adobe extension manager cc but that does not add either....Please help first time i ave tried to install a plug in !!!!!! I cracked my screen. I want to use other monitor which I had one. I bought an Apple Mini-DP to VGA adapter. It worked. It means I can see ADDITIONAL screen. However I want to use this monitor for the main screen. How can I do?? Please help.
You have the display set in Extended Desktop mode. The Menu Bar and Dock will be on the MacBook display and your background screen on the monitor. In System Preferences>Display on the MacBook screen there should be an Arrangement tab when you have the MacBook hooked up to the monitor and both screens working. When you click the Arrangement tab do you see two monitors side by side? One of them will have a Menu Bar at the top. Just click on the Menu Bar and drag it to the second monitor. That will make the second monitor your main screen. You can now use your MacBook in Clamshell Mode with a wired or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3131 When you disconnect from the monitor your Menu Bar will automatically change back to the MacBook.

Hi all,
Please help, I repaired an iphone 5c and have now tried two different lcd screens on it but all I get is a black screen or a black screen with a vertical blue line on the left hand side of the screen. I definitely have the cables connected properly etc and before I repaired it the phone had a cracked screen and there was a picture on it.
I have tried hard reset and nothing. I have tried connecting to iTunes but it asks me to confirm on the iPhone which I can't do as there is nothing on the display. I have tried randomly pressing all over the screen but it doesn't work. So I can't even try restoring it on iTunes.
Please help any advice will be appreciated! I successfully have repaired iphone 4's and iphone 5 before but this is the first iphone 5c.

Can someone please help. My headphones are in full working order and I have had no issue using them to listen to music or watch movies on my MBP. However since yesterday there is an awful cracking sound when they are inserted in to the jack port. Music plays fine through MBP but not when headphones are inserted. There is plenty of examples of this happening on the internet but there does not seem to be a lot of advice on how to rectify this problem. I would be very grateful if someone could help.

I cracked my iPod screen... so i really want to fix the screen, yes i read the other discussions but none of them tell you how much they spent for repairing it. Please help! I want to fix it but i would like to know an estimate on how much i will spend on my iPod! Thank you!!!
Apple at this time does not repair iPods, but will replace the entire iPod for a flat fee; see the Repair Pricing section here:

There are independent iPod repair services that may be able to replace the screen for less. Do a web search for "ipod repair". It is also possible to purchase parts and find instructions on doing a repair yourself, though it's not particularly easy. Note, though, that if you elect to have the iPod serviced by an unauthorized shop or perform a repair yourself, all further support from Apple will be void.

My iPod touch 4 wont charge. I've had this problem before, and i solved it by buying a new charger. But I tried all different outlets, and even bought a new charger and still nothing. It's dead, and it comes on with the apple sign and all that, but it doesn't actually charge when on the lockscreen or anywhere else. My iPod is out of it's warrenty. I've seriously tried everything. It also has about 300 megabytes left, and the screen is shattered with about 1-2 cenimeters falling off in the top right corner, but I really don't think that that's a problem. Please help me Ive even looked at atleast 15 different youtube videos and still nothing. I have a Macbook Pro (13 in.) Mid-2010 which is running Mountain Lion OS X Version 10.8.2 (12C60). I have had this computer for over 2 years and have NEVER had a problem with it and have loved it until 2 - 3 weeks ago, it suddenly started giving me problems. I have never cracked open the inside of any computer, but am seriously considering attempting to replace my hard drive (I've read so many different potential issues that may be the reason for my macbook problems, the hard drive disk being one -- not really sure why i'm leaning towards that one, but I'm desperate).
Here's What's Going On:
1. I frequently am getting the spinning beachball that will spin for, sometimes, seconds and sometimes SEVERAL minutes. The spinny beachball has been a rare occurrence in the past, but when I used to get it, I could just ForceQuit the application and restart it - problem solved..... NOW, I am not able to use ForceQuit. When I attempt to access the ForceQuit menu, it will not appear until the freeze/beachball problem has stopped and so at that point, there is no need to quit the app.
2. Starting my computer has become REDICULOUSLY SLOW. The slow startup problem began occurring at the same time as the beachballs. I'm getting to the white screen with the apple, and that's where it stays for anywhere from 15 - 45 minutes. There have been times that I tried to start it up but it took such a long time so I powered it down while it was still on the white/apple screen and then powered it back up -- I didn't know if this may be part of the reason for the REALLY long startup times (45 minutes). But either way, best case scenario, it takes at least 15 - 20 minutes before my desktop appears.
3. Also, this may or may not be related, but there have been 2 occasions during this time where my laptop sound basically became disfunctional. I was not able to get any sound and lost the option to adjust the sound (when i tried, the little image of the speaker with the cross sign going through it would appear). Similarly, on a different occasion, the same thing happened with the keyboard backlighting - it is not working and it does not allow me to adjust the controls, same as the sound issue.
Like I said, I don't know a whole lot of computers, but this is what I've tried so far. - I cleared up some space on the hard drive (currently 101 out of 250 GB are free). - I did the Disk Utility >> First Aid >> Repair Disk Permissions. - I've copied all my files to an external drive, AND was going to try to Restore my computer to factory settings with the OS X (Snow Leopard) Installation Disc that came with my computer, BUT when I tried it gave me the following message: "You Can't Use This Version Of The Application 'Install Mac OS X' with this version of OS X. You have Install Mac OS X 23.1.1". .... so, I guess I can't override Mountain Lion with Snow Leopard (?)..... And that's pretty much it. Now I'm considering replacing the hard drive while crossing my fingers.
OH YEAH, I forgot to mention.... and I'm not 100% on this ... but my problems started occurring in early October.... wasn't there a Mountain Lion update around that time??? It seems like I did an update around that time, but i could be wrong AND it may not be the problem ..... So....
IS THIS HAPPENING TO ANYONE ELSE ??
ANYONE ABLE TO LOOK AT THE SYMPTOMS I PROVIDED AND GIVE A DIAGNOSTIC OPINION OR OFFER SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHAT I SHOULD DO NEXT ??
ANY HELP AND ALL SUGGESTIONS WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED !!That is precisely what my mid-2010 MacBoook Pro 13 was doing before the drive finally died after an Apple Genius rebooted it a dozen or so times. I have since read about the exact same thing happening to others, including a writer for The Atlantic magazine who had never had an issue with a Mac before. Do a back-up ASAP to make sure you don't lose anything and see about replacing the HDD. It is only about $140 for a new drive. The real issue is if you lose your data, too. So, make sure you do that back-up!

I am writing this post to ask you for a help with an issue that is very frustrating to resolve.
To begin with, I have purchased my MacBook Pro 2.4 GHZ, 3GB, Leopard running notebook about 7 months ago.
Until recently I have discovered that my computer is crashing randomly.
I am not a very tech oriented person, who knows much about console, logs and sorting out the hardware / software related issues.
About 2 months ago I started to experience some random freezes on my computer. Those freezes were occurring on different type of situations so it was hard for me to identify what could be causing the problem. The most common freezing that I have encountered, was and is that my computer screen just freezes and I can't perform any reset or rescue. Simply hard reset.
I started to think that this could be a cause of getting an extra 1GB memory that I purchased from Apple store, and that the memory could be faulty. But just to make sure I have done a clean re-instal of my os. making sure that I have all my permissions everything that could be a "common" cause of any weird behaviors on a mac sorted.
After the reinstall it got even worse.
I decided to take my computer to Apple authorized centre in Sydney broadway NextByte shop.
I explained the problem, asked if that would be possible to check some sort of console logs and track back what could be the cause of the problem that I am experiencing.
I left my computer for 2 weeks in service. And after that 2 weeks they have replied to me saying that they have detected no faulty with the hardware what so ever. I keep on persisting that I understand that the service people have done all the tests on external peripherals, checked the system performance through some kind of testing tools and it resulted with no problem. I rang the Apple complaints department asking if they could do anything about it as I am very worried that this issue won't disappear. They have informed me that there is nothing thay can do and they are basically sending my back home.
I collected my computer 2 days ago and started setting up some programs like adobe and all my apps. At first it was running all well, but then it started (leopard or hardware) to freeze again. On no particular occasion. I had to crashes in 3 hours.
I remembered the time of the crash and after the reboot, I checked my console and here is what I could find:
12/05/08 11:00:07 PM com.apple.launchd[1] (0x10b260.mdworker[1036]) Exited abnormally: Segmentation fault
I don't know if that is related to this post in any way, but as I said at the beginning I have no technical knowledge on where to investigate it further.
I would like to ask you for your recommendation on what should I do next.
I hope there is nothing that I am doing wrong with my computer as I am keeping it organized nad well maintained.
I thought also that that could be overheating related issue so I bought a notebook cooler, but that doesn't seemed to resolve the problem.
I am running out of ideas. Apple won't help me in solving the problem, I am also not sure how should I approach this case from the legal perspective. Can I go to fair traiding institution and ask them for help to enforce apple on returning my money for laptop, should I perform any tasks on my computer to fix the problem with some software.
Help, I am really running out of ideas. I am doing graphic design daily and this problem is driving me crazy.
I would appreciate your feedback or any suggestions on what should I do next.

Message was edited by: sgnwskFor what its worth, it sounds like the Leopard woes I was having before I left and went back to Tiger. I was in leopard for three months and I had too many problems to list here, but some common ones were Random system freezes/crashes (especially in itunes coverflow), Finder freezing, Adobe CS3 crashing and being generally buggy, not being able to run Final Cut Pro and After Effects at the same time.
My advice to you, check your memory if you feel like it could be the problem. If your memory is OK, then wait for the 10.5.3 update which is supposed to be out really soon (like within a couple of weeks or so from what I hear.) -
I've have done all of the tips Apple has suggested and have tried many times to restore it but it still won't work. IThe first time it went through the whole process and it seemed like it worked but it still showed the Screen that has a iPod power cord that has an arrow pointing to the iTunes thumbnail. And now i thought well maybe it is restored i just need to sync it to Itunes but no my computer said that i encountered a problem my iPod and that i need to restore it so I tried. And at the end of the first step, the Verifying Software step, it said that the device "iPod" could not be found, so Itried it again and again but it still came up with the same results so I'm screwed so if you can could you please help me i really need after a disabled iPod for about 2 to 3 months now. So if you could please help i would appreciate it alot. THANK YOU.
- Reboot the computer, try another USB port and try anohter cable.
- Look at the dock connector on the iPod. Look for abnormalities like bent or corroded contacts, cracked or broken plastic.
- Try placing the iPod in DFU mode and then restore.

How to get photos off my iPod that were on a app?? PLEASE HELP _ !!!
I dropped my cracked iPod touch 4th generation in water and now it's just done. The touch doesn't work anymore (by that I mean I cant touch it anymore, I cant slide it open or slide it to turn it off). It wouldn't really be a big problem cause I plugged a USB cord in my iPod into my laptop and it downloaded all my photos from my iPod onto my laptop. The problem is I had a lock app (that kind of app that you can keep private stuff in/the app you need a password for) and I had many pics of memories on there that I will never get back. They didn't download onto my laptop like the rest cause they are not technically on my iPod, they're on a app. I have been trying to find a way to get those pics onto my laptop but with my iPod unable to open I have just given up. I would take it to a shop but they would probably just reset it and delete everything. You guys are my last hope. Is there ANY way I can some how save those pics?? If not tell me because keeping this iPod around is just saddening :/ PLEASE HELP! (I don't know if this is useful information but My Ipod was NOT a IOS 7, it was a 6 something.. I dont remember exactly but It was not a 7, but a 6. something)
Can you backup the iPod? If so then either:
- Restore another iPod touch, iPad or iPhone for that backup
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
