Cracked screen on ipad2

My dog stepped on my ipad2 and cracked the screen. It is working fine. The white part of the frame is broken also. Does the white part being broken make the damage worse as far as repairing?

It really makes no difference.
your main options are to get an out of warranty replacement from Apple. The fee for an iPad 2 starts at 249 and goes up depending on themodel.
Or you can use an unauthorized service, but if you have any factory warranty left, using the nonauthorized repair will void that.
So a more expensive sure bet or a cheaper gamble....or, depending on the age of your device, consider putting the money towards a new one. (my iPad is 2.5 years old so if I were to break the screen I'd just trash it and put the money towards something newer)

The standard 1-year Apple Care warranty only covers defects in materials and workmanship, not damage due to accidents.
Apple's Limited Warranty http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/ for iPad excludes coverage for damage resulting from accident, disassembly, unauthorized service and unauthorized modifications.
    Out-of-Warranty Service
If you own an iPad that is ineligible for warranty service but is eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service, Apple will replace (Apple doesn't repair) your iPad with an iPad that is new or equivalent to new in both performance and reliability for the Out-of-Warranty Service fee listed below. (The replacement will most likely be a refurbished iPad in a brown box, however, it has a new screen, back and battery.)
    iPad model
    Out-of-Warranty Service Fee
    iPad mini
    $219
    iPad 3rd, 4th generation
    $299
    iPad 2, iPad
    $249
A $6.95 shipping fee will be added if service is arranged through Apple and requires shipping. All fees are in US dollars and are subject to local tax.
Certain damage is ineligible for out-of-warranty service, including catastrophic damage, such as the device separating into multiple pieces, and inoperability caused by unauthorized modifications. However, an iPad that has failed due to contact with liquid may be eligible for out-of-warranty service. See http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipad

  • Cracked screen - Service?

I am brand new to Apple products, so maybe I am missing something.  I got an IPad2 about 6 months ago and recently the screen cracked when it was dropped while in the case.  It was a tiny crack that has since grown.  I looked online and there are lot of conflicting stories out there about repair, replacement, etc.  I went to the Apple store (my first time ever there) and they told me no repair is possible, I just need to pay for a refurbished one -$319.
This is the confusing part - how is it that Apple has a product with a huge, unprotected, screen tha cannot be repaired?  I have had laptop screens repaired, I known Flat screen TVs and phone screens can be repaired; how is it possible that Apple has this incredibly popular product that is so vulnerable that cannot be repaired?
Has anyone out there successfully had their screens repaired?

Look at the info on this page http://support.apple.com/kb/index?page=servicefaq&geo=United_States&product=ipad
Any repairs will not be covered by the Apple Warranty. There are some 3rd party repair vendors. however, the Apple warranty will be voided. You choices are - pay Apple for the refurb (with a 1 year warranty) or probably pay a bit less using a 3rd party repair vendor. Do a Google search using iPad repair.

  • Iphone 4 home button not working, called never fixed, then cracked screen before bringing it back again, will they blame the cracked screen if i bring it back?

I bought an iPhone 4 less than a year ago, then one day the home button randomly stopped working, I bought the warranty so I decided to call in and see what was wrong with it. The girl said that restoring the phone would correct the problem which it did. But it is only a temporary fix, it happens more often now. So I was meaning to call in soon, but the other day my phone fell out of my pocket IN CASE from a foot height and cracked the screen. I nearly threw up. All the years I have had a phone I have never cracked or broken one, strongest screen my ***. Anyway, if I contact them again now will they fix the home button problem? or will they say that the cracked screen is obviously the cause of the home button not working? which it is not!! I don't care about the screen being cracked its not on the actual screen just on the side so its irrelevant to me. Plus I heard it is outrageosly pricey to replace.

Apple, as I said, does not repair your iPhone. All hardware service issues are handled by replacing the unit. So they can't handle the home-button issue without also addressing the issue of the cracked screen, for which they'll almost certainly charge you. But you can make an appointment at an Apple Store or call Apple tech support and plead your case.
    Regards.

  • How can I get apple to warranty my iPod touch 4th gen? It has always had issues and seems to be a lost cause. Will not connect to wi-fi. It also has cracked screen, but that is not the issue.

It has a cracked screen also but that is not the issue. I am willing to live with the screen

Unfortunately, ANY signs of 'neglect or damage' automatically become the cause of any issues you're having. As in it doesn't matter if your screen was flickering before it was dropped, when they see the dent or cracked screen, that screen flicker was caused by the drop. Because they  have no way to know if you are telling the truth (it's nothing personal, they just literally dont' know) so any signs of damage become the reason for your issue. The only way out of that is if you had taken in your iPad and, even if you didn't get it replaced, an apple employee can have documented that yes, that issue existed before the drop.
It's not fun, I know, but that's just how it is. Any signs of 'neglect or damage' and that 'neglect or damage' is the cause of your issues.

  • If my iPhone 5 has a cracked screen, can I still trade it in for the iPhone 6?

If my iPhone 5 has a cracked screen, can I still trade it in for the iPhone 6?
I know there is the promotion to trade in for a free iPhone 6, but will Verizon take a cracked phone?
I would hope at the least to still get a discount if not a straight up trade.
Appreciate any info if anyone knows.

You can get an appraisal for your phone here https://www.trade-in.vzw.com/home.php5
I think to get the best price towards an iPhone 6 you have to have the appraisal submitted and new phone ordered by tomorrow (9/30/14) You buy the new phone on contract price then they email you a Verizon gift card after they receive your phone and make the final decisions on how much to give you. (Suppose to take 2 weeks after mailing old phone in)

how can i see my warranty of my cscreen is cracked and it opens

A cracked screen is not coverd by warranty:
Apple's Limited Warranty for iPod excludes coverage for damage resulting from accident, liquid damage, disassembly, unauthorized service and unauthorized modifications. Please review the warranty for further details. When a service is not covered under the warranty, Apple will return your original iPod to you without providing service, and may hold you responsible for shipping costs, plus any applicable sales tax.
An iPod that is ineligible for warranty service may be eligible for Out-of-Warranty (OOW) Service. For example, an iPod that has failed due to damage or liquid damage is ineligible for warranty service but eligible for OOW service. • I just took my I-Pod touch to a computer repair shop to replace cracked screen and now am told main part of I-Pod needs to be replaced.volume button no longer works, headphone and locking device also no longer working. Even though it all worked when given

I just took my I-Pod touch to a computer repair shop to replace a cracked screen. Told it need the main part to it. They said the volume button, headphone and locking part no longer worked. Told me to pick it up. When I gave it to them all components were working. Said because they weren't able to fix it there was no charge. Don't understand this.

Probably when you dropped, kicked, smashed, threw, or whatever you did to break your screen it also damaged the logic board and the connections to the volume button, headphone jack and sleep button. Happens all the time. Apparently the shop you selected to work on it is not very good so take them off your shopping list.
Then go buy a 5th Generation iPod Touch.

  • Need advice on cracked screen

    hi,
UPS broke the screen on my 17" G5 when I sent it home from school. I plan to file an insurance claim and want to have an idea of what a repair will cost.
I realize I'll probably need to go to the Mac store in town for any official quote or repair/replacement, but I can't do that for a few days and would appreciate any info.
There are several distinct cracks in the screen. Most of it is black, but a portion of it still displays properly.
Thanks or any help you can offer!

    Hello,
Sorry to hear about the cracked screen.
First, you should be aware that any delay in filing an insurance claim will provide them with potential to get out of it.
You should have contacted them immediately when you opened the box and found it broken.
When you contact them, be sure to write down times, dates, and who you spoke with for each conversation. Likewise, record exactly what they told you on paper (take notes while talking).
As for the value of the screen, I think you will likely be surprised $672.35.
    http://www.applepalace.com/scripts/prodView.asp?idproduct=1457
Now, I've never dealt with this company, so I cannot speak for them.
But, that gives you one starting price.
Now, keep in mind a few points:
    1) You will want Apple to replace this part since you will want your warranty in-tact. And, since UPS should be covering the repair cost, you obviously want the best chance for success.
    2) Apple's prices for parts is generally much higher than the 3rd-party. So, I would count on at least $700 to $800. But, you should call the Apple service center for a better price estimate.
    3) There are 3 different versions of the iMac G5 17-inch computer. So, you will need to make sure you get the right screen for your specific computer.
    4) Make sure you find out from UPS whether you need to get it fixed before filing the claim, or if you need to provide them with an estimate before they initiate the repair process.
I hope this helps. Good luck to you in your repair process. I hope UPS doesn't give you too much trouble.

Have you synced this phone, with iTunes, while the passcode was enabled? If so, plug it in, iTunes running, & hit the Restore button on the Summary Pane. This will also erase the phone.
However, if you have not synced, while the passcode was enabled, you will not be able to do this without first enereting the passcode. If that's the case, try recovery mode:

  • Cracked screen - incomplete synch - need to do num...

Hi, I am trying to do a back-up of my cell, a 6730, which fell, got hit by a car and has a totally cracked screen. The cell makes/receives calls but can no longer be used.
I have connected the phone to the pc via the usb cable and managed to copy photos and videos.
I have installed Ovi Suite but except for maybe at the first attempt (I may have hitten the wrong key), Ovi Suite does not "see" the device (but my pc does). I have tried to manage the phone via Ovi Suite and already sent myself a few messages. I think I managed to open them, enter the pin code and save without seeing the screen. Ovi now tells me I am halfawy done (it shows 1 of 2), it says set up partially completed and that in order to complete it I should synchronize the phone now by selecting synch in the menu, but I cannot see that.
Can anyone help with this. I am currently looking to retrieve my phone contacts and calendar.
I plan to copy everything on my old N73 until I will decide what to buy next.
Thanks to those who will help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Hi everybody. I seem to have found a solution (at 5 am...).
I first found out that if I didn't truly close Ovi and it stayed active in the lower right corner bar, I did not have a new chance that it would see my cell. I restarted it and for a moment it saw it alright but then it went again and saw no devices.
So.. I tried installing PC Suite, which I knew from before. It saw my cell but it said it was connected under a non-compatible connection (I was not able to find out what it meant) and that my modem was not functioning properly and probably also my USB connection. So I tried an Internet connection and don't even know how now, if whether through the USB or Internet, I was able to download some more recent sofware and after that I was finally able to do a back-up, except with PC Suite, not Ovi. I can understand it better, it provides more indications so you know what to try next.

  • I have a cracked screen from a few months ago. A few days ago out of nowhere my spears won't work (ringing, speakerphone, music) apple told me I need new speakers but I don't think that can be it. Help?!

My phone has been working perfectly fine even after I dropped it and cracked the screen. Apple is saying this happened because of the cracked screen but that doesn't make sense. HELP!!! I don't have a warranty so I would have to pay $80 for new speakers :( apple *****

Your computer is under warranty. You can verify that here:
    https://selfsolve.apple.com/agreementWarrantyDynamic.do
You will need the serial number:

If the reseller will not fix it under warranty, get in touch with Apple directly, by email or phone.

  • How much is it to repair the cracked screen on my 4s

How much is it to repair the cracked screen on my 4s

I wouldn't pay $199 to get the screen replaced. That doesnt justify the cost of the phone. A 4s can be bought for nearly the same price used and you still run the risk of breaking it again.
Go to a local repair shop in your area and they could do it for under $70 and do a professional job about it.
