Cracking audigy 2 ZS after drivers upd

I updated my old drivers (the CD drivers) with the online drivers, after all the process and reboot, when I play something, audio comes with cracking noise..
I tried to uninstall drivers, reinstall old drivers, change the pci slot of the card, but the problem still exists.
With another soundcard (not creative) everything works fine.
What can I do?!

You mentioned mics (several I suppose).
Audigy 2 Zs Notebook does have only one mono microphone input shared w/ analog line-in and S/PDIF (a multi-purpose input 'port' called FlexiJack).
As a PCMCIA audio device, I suggest you to get E-MU 66 or 66M instead of SB Audigy 2 Zs Notebook.
There are also plenty of USB and FireWire audio interfaces available you can use w/ laptop.

  • Audigy 2 problems after updating drivers

Hi guys, just wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I'm using an Audigy 2 (without all the extras) and I've been fairly satisfied with my card up till now. A couple of days ago I decided to update my drivers, so I did. After that the sound cut out. I tried rolling back the drivers as well as reinstalling my card. All to no avail. The best result I've been able to achieve is my Windows startup sound playing, but nothing else. MP3s don't play, WAVs don't play, (and get this) GAMES HAVE NO SOUND. ARgh.
I'm not sure how this works, I mean, how can the windows sound play when everything else doesn't?
    I'm on WinXP SP btw.
    Please help.

  • Audigy 2 ZS Diagnostics Won't Run After Driver Upd

Diagnostics worked fine until I updated mu Audigy 2 ZS drivers to the latest version; 02.08.0004. I'm running XP Pro SP2. Followed the Creative update instructions to the letter. Downloaded the update package to my machine. Nothing else was running when I executed the update package. Even disabled network and then my AV. Now Diagnostics gets as far as the hardware Wave test then just literally disappears. No error messages, no application or process hangs showing in task manager and no errors showing up in XP event viewer.
Tech Support says this shouldn't indicate that anything else is effected as long as the sound works, which it does. They couldn't explain why it won't run.
My question: is there some way to safely delete this program? Since it doesn't work anymore it's useless and just taking up space.
Thanks in advance for any help provided.

I had the same problem but here is the solution (at least it worked for me)
Click on Windows Start button. Select Run. Type in Regedit and click OK to run it. Navigate to to the node "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\<EM>Software\Creative Tech\Software Installed</EM>" and delete the node. Then navigate to the node "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\<EM>SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Unin stall\5CDDF96A-BC34-4D72-9ABA-EFFF0C39977</EM>" and delete the node.

  • Vista 5242 audigy 4 wont install drivers

I have windows vista build 5342 on my desktop which currently has an internal pci audigy 4 card...i installed the "SBAX_PCDVTBETA_US_2_08_0002" driver creative has put out for such audio cards. After i installed, i restarted, and still no audio card installed!! is there something im missing? PLEASE HELP!!!

I've just spent the last 3 days trying to get some kind of sound out of my SB live 24 on build 5384. Nothing! I've tried every conceivable combination of drivers (including the old '05 vista drivers) and still nothing. Now Vista is in an endless loop of booting and "installing device drivers" until it finds nothing and gives up until next boot. Infuriating. Part of the beta process is to see what works and doesn't work on Vista. Well, we know SB's don't work.

  • 5.1 not working after driver upd

Ok, let me just inform you all of what the problem is, and how it came to be.
I bought GTA: SA yesterday, I have that small crackling sound every so often, not really annoying (Not really, but still slightly), but certain sounds are almost inaudiable (Which I found irritating). So, today I thought about updating my drivers, see if that would help. I tried to find out my version with little sucecss, then I went to: Contol Panel --> Sound and Audio Devices ---> Hardware ---> Creative SB Audigy 2VS (WDM) ---> Properties ---> Driver ---> Update Driver, selected Auto install, it found two, one said "Already installed" when I clicked on it, the other, looked the exact same, but it didn't say "Already installed", so I just installed that one, restarted, then on my 5. speakers, the subwoofer is no longer working, my centre speaker isn't working and neither is my right speaker.
I tested my speakers via the THX Setup Console, and I heard nothing from the centre (I cannot remember if it was that one alone at that time), so I got worried, and clicked "Roll Back Driver" and restarted.
After I restarted, I tested again, I'm not sure if it "Got worse" or was it already like that. I heard a sound coming from the subwoofer, when it got to my forward-right speaker which was really really strange. And nothing from the centre, or subwoofer. It seems to be acting like a 4 speaker system or something...
I wondered did the Roll Back work? So, I did it again, no change. Then I tried it again, and it said I couldn't Roll Back anymore. So I clicked "Update" and it's telling me it's up-to-date, no new drivers needed etc...
Now, I'm here, begging (Literally) for help.
I know the speakers are plugged in properly, I've had the computer since February and I have not messed with them since... Anytime today, which is when I noticed the difference. I checked was it set on 5. in Audio Devices etc... in Control Panel, and it was. Whenever I came accross any speaker "Selection" or whatnot, it was on 5.. So, that's why I'm thinking in the area of drivers (As I did update them and got the problem), or maybe some setting I overlooked.
If it was a power/connection problem, then I wouldn't be able to turn it on, as my centre speaker controls that, and it has a seperate connection into the subwoofer.
I am out of ideas, and in need of help.
Any help will be greatly appreciated, and I hope to God I can get this working again.
And please, I would appreciate if this topic doesn't "die", and for a quick response.
    Thank you.
Edit: I forgot to mention, before clicking "Roll Back" for a second time, I tried a System Restore, but my nearest point was yesterday, before installing GTA: SA. No change.
I am not very good in this area, it was not smart of me to go messing about with drivers, but when I found I could just click a button and it'd find one for me, I thought it wouldn't screw up like this...
I'm not sure if reinstalling the drivers would help, and if they would, after looking over how to do it, with my lack of "Expertise" in this area, I would be very nervous about doing so, I feel I might make it worse if I do. But if I am pointed in that direction, I will give it a go, I just wanted to see if there was any other way I could fix it first. Thanks again.Message Edited by scrood on 06-25-2005 04:46 AM

Hi, solved the problem. I also noticed that when isntalling itunes, quicktime never installed. So i installed quicktime manually and thats when the problems started. I mangaed to solve the problem by deleteing every trace of quicktime, and installing quicktime 6, then reinstalling quicktime7. Problem solved.

  • Where are the Audigy 2 ZS Linux Drivers?????????????????????????????????????????

I Just recently installed Fedora core 4 on a partition on one of the Raids and discovered I cannot find a creative Audigy2 zs linux driver anywhere? I have found a all in one alsa driver set but so far no success, and i'd prefer not to use non certified drivers on the audigy2 due to hardware failing on me in the past because of bad drivers. Why is there a Linux section in the drivers area and no linux drivers? eh common if you haven't coded linux drivers after the ammount of time the audigy2 zs has been released for ... then why you guys are going to have to have the proverbial finger removed from the preverbial arse and support your customers ... I've seen 00's of questions in forums about creative drivers for linux ... if you guys are going to be racists and only code microsloth / bloatware then I think i'll be more than happy to chuck the audigy2 on the junk pile and use the evil on board ac '97 which HAS Linux drivers....
    Totally Frustrated and fed up

  • Audigy, no sound after rest

I recently formatted my hard dri've. After I finished installing Windows XP, I got my Sound Blaster Audigy, DR release 2.2. driver from this website. Except whenever I restart my computer, the sound doesn't work and I have to reinstall the driver to get it to work again! My computer doesn't mention any problems with the soundcard or the drivers and the only solution I've found is to reinstall the driver. Any tips? I'd really hate to go through this process every time I turn on my computer. Thanks!

  • Updated Audigy 2 Sound Card Drivers.... now speakers don't mu

I have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2. I updated the drivers for the first time in 3 years yesterday. I'm now using the Driver set: 5.2.4.96.
However, the bad news is that when I plug in my headphones to the USB port, the sounds still comes over the speakers and not over the headphones. The microphone works and I can hear my friends on ventrilo. But games sounds come through the speakers. I checked my settings in the Audio HQ and 'mute speakers when using headphones' is checked. Also, in order for my headset to work at all with ventrilo, I had to default sound device to my headphones and not to the sound card.
Prior to the new drivers, everything worked perfectly. After the drivers install, I'm having problems. Any thoughts as to what is going on?
Thanks.<!-- / message --><!-- message, attachments, sig -->Message Edited by boojiboy on 04-6-200703:43 PM

Last try... bump #3. One additional piece of info, after working on and off on this for over a week, I'm suspicious that the previous driver set didn't not complete uninstall and thus, I have some sort of of driver conflict. I've followed the FAQs to the letter on uninstall and reinstall procedures. No luck.

  • Audigy 2 ZS beta drivers a step backwar

OK. My Audigy 2 ZS was working fine with the previous Beta drivers.
I was then forced to upgrade to the latest ones, and now Vista won't start up. It goes through the bootup process but instead of displaying the round Vista logo, it resets and goes back to the checking memory bit.
I have had to uninstall them via Safe-mode to get my OS to work.
While I'm not against upgrading to the latest drivers, Creative should at least allow the previous ones to work until rather than completely disabling them after a certain date.
I have logged the issue with Creative but just received the standard "we are too busy to respond individually" reply.
Has anyone else experienced this Vista problem or know of any workarounds?
    Martin

  • MAX Volume after driver upd

Why oh why does'nt someone in quality assurance do something about the drivers always maxing your volume after updates and installs. I find it completely frustrating to have to jab the mute key becuase my 6. system is pumping max volume when ever I update sound drivers. Even when I lower the volume and say do an update that requires multiple reboots, the volume control is always maxed every time. Pretty crappy QA.

I have had this happen on multiple systems with a fresh install of windows and the originial cd package. Every time I install the files, update the files etc, the volume control is maxed after the restart of windows. It usually ends up a scramble to hit mute key. I have had this with both my audigy 2 original and the sbli've32 sound cards. Doesnt matter the mother board or version of windows. I have installed it on everything from windows 95 to win64pro. Always after installing the drivers and restarting the volume control is set to max by the install. I have been building pc's since the 8086, my fist sound card was (Beep) Pc speaker ) The fist Sound Blaster card was a Sound Blaster, I thin it's an 8 bit card. I would have to check the old specs on it. All my old cards adorn my den as portraits to technology along with CPU's I have had. I always do a full format on my system every three months as I am not satisfied with the current utils out there that "Clean" Registry files. Upon windows install, most currently XP pro, I install the system first, video drivers, sound card drivers, them printer etc. So i dont see how anything could be running in the background to interfere. I ever tried changing the physical slots I put the card in to see if there was a shared resource, irq sharing conflict that is deemed ok by the system.

  • SB Audigy 2 beta OpenAL drivers contain a wo

Just downloaded the beta drivers for my Audigy 2ZS to see if they'd help with Doom3. Got them from the Europe site - after installation my virus checker (PCCillin 2005) flagged that I'd picked up a worm "WORM_SDBOT.AUL" which masquerades as CTHELPER.EXE with an IRC bot and all sorts of badness. Anybody else had this problem? I don't use this PC for anything but gaming and watching DVDs with minimal downloads apart from driver updates and some streaming web radio via iTunes.
    Cheers

CTHELPER.exe is meant to allow 3rd party plugins to work with Creative drivers. There really aren't any plugins, so that file is useless.
Go to Start > Run... > type in Msconfig and hit Enter. Go to the Startup tab and disable CTHELPER and click OK. If the process is currently running, end it in the Task Manager. Then, go to C:\Program Files\Creative\ and search in there for CTHELPER.EXE (or just CTHELPER) and rename it. It should never bother you again.

Yes it is called trying to install the wrong driver for your card. Will work much better if you try installing the correct one,
    SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000.exe
Also helps if you click on the "Show Details" link on the download page, then you would see that the one you tried to install doesn't support your card,
    Requirements:
Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 or Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004
Sound Blaster Audigy Value/SE/LS, or Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit audio devices
whereas the correct driver shows the following,
This download supports the following audio devices only:
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy including Platinum and Platinum eX series
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 including Platinum, Platinum eX, and Value series
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS including Platinum and Platinum Pro series
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Pro and Sound Blaster Audigy 4

  • What happened to the Audigy 4 (non-pro) drivers on the websi

I swore a week or so there were seperate drivers for the new Audigy 4 (non-pro) on Creative's site. Now only the Audigy 4 Pro is shown under the download options. What happened? I was going to just use the online drivers with the audio console for an easy install and to ensure I have the lastest drivers.

Try download them MANUALLY. They're 5.2..6-2.08.00.000.

I am unable to print (even test pages) to my printer. I've tried installing the upd and after days of working on it, was finally able to print. But I'm finding that it won't print again today.
I also notice that there are 2 printers installed. One is called HP Universal Printing PCL5 and the other is hp Laserjet 1320 series UPD PCL5. I'm not sure which of the two printers I should focus on. I was able to get the latter to print but now am unable to get either to print. It is connected to a netgear router.
