Crackling and popping after updat

I have an X-Fi Platinum card and after the newest update i got bad crackling and popping. Now i was told in another thread to install the older ones. So my question to all is what?is the best way to uninstall the new drivers so i can install the old ones ---will an in-place reinstall using old drivers cause any problems? I really dont want to use 3rd party programs like driver cleaner.

Is is "static" (popping and cracking link an FM/AM radio might due) that your hearing or is the audio garbled?
have you tried using headphones in the same audio jack to see if you hear the same thing?
if it's static, than it could be a number of things:
• has your computer ever over heated since you've installed 10.5?
• Do you house your computer in an extremely humid room?
• it could be bad wiring or jack

i've tried everything.

Every concievable BIOS setting.
i've done it all.
THIS WORKED on my a8n32sli-deluxe motherboard.
i set my HTT to 800 (x4 with a 200 mhz bus)
ALL crackles and pops are gone and my system is just as fast as it was at 000 (or 5x 200 mhz HTT)
the HTT is the hypertransport bus from the cpu to the system, if you dont know what i'm talking about google it.
no bull**bleep**, nothing else worked, this did.

<well after searching the net and on different forums like ASUS and Creative and EVGA i went to my fellow gaming clan m8's and i had one post to me a procedure to try out and see if it works. well so far it has and i have the onboard sound enable, and the augy2 zs install heres a pic of what my IRQ look like now<IMG src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v482/SCAVENGER/My%20Gaming%20PC/IRQ.jpg">i will post the procedure he had me do follow it step by step but make sure you have dri've cleaner pro install to make this work since it is used in this procedure<
This little app is a life saver with that crash error. It not only cleans specific registry entries per driver type and related files, but also cleans MS Win default drivers in the installation CABs which MS always installs when it doesn't know what to do.
* Download newest Chipset Drivers, but do not install yet * Download and install any BIOS updates * Reboot and enter BIOS * Set what you want, disabling any stuff you never use (whether it be firewire or midi or whatever) * Reboot to Windows * Uninstall all drivers related to sound and video (the bull**bleep** apps that go with it too) * Run Driver Cleaner Pro and multi-select all video and sound remotely related to your hardware (I select everything under manufacturer name) * Reboot TO SAFE MODE (keep pressing F8 during reboot until you get the menu choice) * Run Driver Cleaner Pro and clean the same things you just cleaned in normal mode * Select CAB cleaning and clean all CABs it has an option to clean * Reboot to normal Windows, cancelling out all the search for a driver gumps * Install the newest Chipset Drivers * Reboot, enter and recheck BIOS settings (chipset drivers can sometimes screw with this) * Reboot to Windows * Install latest OnBoard Sound Drivers if seperate from Chipset * Reboot * Set Windows sound applet stuff, test onboard sound. Any pops? Should be fine * Reboot * Install Sound Card DRIVERS (non of that extra crap) * Reboot * Set Windows sound applet stuff, test both sound sources * Reboot * Recheck sound applet settings, reboot again if you need to set stuff again (it can be difficult to get Win to set some of that in stone) * Now you can install your Video Drivers * Reboot and retest everything * Lastly, I would suggest the latest monthly version of DirectX to be installed
This /should/ either give you a clean and working as you want it system, or give you an indication of where the problem lies, depending on where in the process the trouble begins<i will post if it keeps working good or not. i know it tends to mess up a day later then give me all kind of greif.

Found a Solution to crackling and popping on XFI Sound ca

I have tried many solution attempts found on this forum and nothing seemed to work. I have updated all of the drivers. I have reinstalled several times along with reboots and after all this I just decided to try on last thing and here it is and it worked for me.
Well after testing this I have found that setting the sample format rate and bit depth to be use in shared mode to 24 bit, 96000Hz (Studio Quality) That the crackling and popping has gone away. I have tested this in a game called Jericho that did it all the time and the game runs smooth and the audio is crisp and clear. I also had problem playing any audio and moving the mouse over icons and the sound would have serious crackling. This has also gone away. The sound in general is a lot better then before. It is crisp and clear. I highly suggest that you check the settings. Go to Control Panel then Sound . Right click on speakers and select Properties . Click on Advanced and in the Default Format change this to 24 bit, 96000 Hz (Studio Quality). This should get rid of all of the crackling and popping. This has worked for me. I have hooked up my speakers direct not by fiber optic. I am guessing that if one used fiber optic then you might be able to use 24 bit, 92000 Hz (Studio Quality) . But I would definitely try adjusting the settings here to try and fix the problem. I have gone back and forth on these settings and it is only clear on 24 bit, 96000 Hz (Studio Quality) . Thanks to you all on this forum for you help in this matter I know this is only my third post but I have been reading this forum for solutions for a week now and have found a solution that worked for me that I have not read yet. I hope this helps everyone or at least some. Godspeed.

Here are more of my findings after some more testing. I know that I have found the XFI card to work on my vista machine at 24 bit 96000 Hz, but here is something that tells me there is definitely something wrong with these new drivers for XFI cards. Today I wanted to try going back to the HD audio card that came with my Asus Crosshair motherboard. It has an HD Supreme FX PCI Express card. I am assuming this is equivalent to the Creative Audigy 2 ZS card that I also have. I would assume that the XFI card is a step above the HD Supreme FX card that comes with the motherboard. So here are my findings. After installing the card and the Vista drivers for the HD Supreme FX card I ran into zero problems. I switched the settings to 24 Bit 92000 Hz, this is the setting I wanted to use for the XFI card and it would crackle and pop. The funny thing is the Audigy 2 ZS card that I have had absolutely no problem in running 24 Bit 92000 Hz in Windows XP. So you can not tell me that the XFI Card is incapable of running 24 Bit 92000 Hz. There is no way that you would downgrade the better card of the two. I also know from other users that the XFI card has no problem running 24 Bit 92000 Hz in Windows XP. This is a Vista issue that is narrowed down to the drivers. Therefore the drivers need to be reprogrammed. How is it that, Asus can have a card designed or design an audio card along with drivers that work flawlessly in Vista and am audio component manufacturer like Creative just can not seem to get it right Any answers Creative I still had problems with the audio in the Game Jericho with the XFI card but no problems occurred with the HD Supreme FX card that came with the Crosshair board. So I know it is not a problem with the game. The problem lies in the drivers with the XFI card. The problem that I was having incase you all are curious is. In the game you get to a point where you are able to switch between characters. The crackle would occur when jumping into the character Delgado. The audio would crackle and pop. So I would jump out and into another character and the sound would still crackle and pop until you took the first step and then it would go away. It did not matter which character you would jump into from Delgado. The only sound issues where with Delgado. I thought it was in the game after I assumed I had found a fix. But I was wrong because I had absolutely no issues on any character or at any point in the game with the Supreme FX card. I only had these issues with the XFI Card. The funny thing is the game recommends the XFI card.

Short of getting my fourth iPhone, is anyone aware of a solution?

if it's the exact same issue, either it's a problem with your service or with your software if you're restoring from a backup each time. it's pretty darn near impossible for 3 phones to have the same exact hardware issue, so that's unlikely. is this an at&t iphone? if so, are you continuing to use the same sim card? if so, get a new one and try that out. if that's not the issue, restore the phone as new and make a few phone calls. if the issue's gone away, there's something wrong with your backup

there is a crackling and popping sound when i watch videos on youtube or play music/videos using vlc media player and windows media player. recently it has gotten to a point where it happens when windows is starting up or even when the laptop is required to play a sound for example when i plug in a removeable hardware such as thumbdrives

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP 2000 Notebook and getting a buzzing or popping sound while playing music and watching Youtube videos. Try performing a hard reset.
When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.
You can do a system restore. System restore will help if something automatically updated and did not go well on the Notebook that might have caused this.
You can try this
1. Right click the Speaker icon in the bottom right corner.
2. Click Playback Devices.
3. Click Speakers.
4. Click properties.
5. Click the advanced tab on the Properties window.
6. Change the Default Format drop-down to the highest quality.
7. Apply the properties.
8. Click OK to close the properties window.
What happens if you right click on the video while playing a video and take the check out of hardware acceleration. Shut the browser down and restart the notebook.
Have you checked for an update on the Active X.

It sounds like you bough the song only, not the song and the ringtone.
Ringtones via itunes are available in the U.S. only.
In the U.S. to make a ringtone you:
Buy the song with a bell - 99 cents
Find the song in your library and click the bell
This bring up the editor.
You edit the song to the portion you want.
Then click buy to purchase the ringtone - another 99 cents.
Then it shows up in ringtones and you can sync.
As I said, this method of creating ringtones is available in the U.S. only.

The system in your car is probably not designed for use with an iPhone. The radios in the iPhone can put out quite a bit of interference. If the system is not designed for it, this can result in very poor audio quality. Try putting the phone in airplane mode and see if the problem persists. If it goes away, then it's a compatibility issue with your head unit.

PlayStation 3 (ps3) audio crackle and popping bug

I'm curious if anyone else out there has experienced this problem.
For a couple years now, I regularly render my projects to mp4 (h.264) files at 1080p for playback on my PS3. In Premiere Pro CS3, I had made a couple customized presets with all the right settings for smooth playback on the ps3, which took quite a bit of research and experimentation to get just right.
Now in Premiere Pro CS5, the few h.264 default presets I've used work really well out of the box, with one small caveat. On a particular music video I've been working on, the audio has quite a few crackles and popping sounds in it. I've researched the heck out of this, initially thinking it was a problem with my render... deleted my audio peak files over and over, changed projects to 44.1kHz and/or 48kHz, use the original WAV file, etc etc ad nauseum. What was most confusing is that I couldn't hear any of these popping sounds when I played the exact same mp4 on my computer. In fact, it sounded perfect on my computer no matter what I did. In diagnosing the problem, I connected my computer directly to my stereo (bypassing the PS3) and sure enough the audio was perfect... so...
My thinking now is it's some sort of a bug or perhaps a very nuanced incompatibility betweeen the ps3 and the mp4 file. I've re-rendered the mp4 in countless ways, tweaking nearly every encoding setting possible. So far, I've found two things that work and cause the audio to play without any clicks or pops on the PS (again, they all sound fine on the computer)-
1. Rerendered at 720p instead of 1080. Audio plays perfectly.
2. Replaced my video track with a single white color matte, rendered at my original 1080p. Audio plays perfectly.
Anyway, that's where I'm at. Given it plays so well on my computer, I'm half thinking the PS3 is on it's way out as my HTPC solution.
Curious if anyone else in the community has experienced anything like this?

Just some thoughts here. Many users have had issues (some Audio on Export) with Apple's H.264 CODEC (probably the most common one?), and have had much better luck with the H.264 from either Lead, or from MainConcept. Not sure if either have a trial, but might be worth a try.
Otherwise, I am at a loss to explain why your H.264's are producing bad Audio on the PS3 (have never used one). It is also odd that by dropping the Video resolution down, or replacing it with synthetic Video, would have the affects that you describe - odd indeed, at least to me.

Something appears to have gone wrong while running the updater. Use the MacBook Air's original thumbdrive or the recovery partition(if it's running 10.7 or newer) to repair the internal drive or install a new OS.

Sony Update Software (also known as SUS) has been discontinued some time ago, and now the update process is entirely integrated in PC Companion and Mac Bridge. Just Download PC Companion from here:
