Crackling noise - is Nano toast?

Hi all,
My iPod Nano (4GB) is 1 year old. Have had no problems until yesterday. Loud crackling noise is interfering with music. Noise comes through earbuds and also iHome docking station. Noise is constant. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

I was wondering if it was only me. I've had my Nano for less than a year, I've probably used it about 15 times total (I use it when I exercise and I noticed some time ago that it will play one song and then start crackling and popping when continuing with others. It sounds as though my earphones are popped like when the volume is too loud for them and the speaker pops, however, I've bought new earbuds (Sony's) and played it in both a desktop player that holds the NANO and my car system (high-end speakers) with the wire plugged into the earphone jack connected to the car kit system which plays thru the tape player system in my car. It makes these sounds on all devices...

  • So I have a 1.5 year old Macbook Pro (Early 2011) and since last week, it has been making a crackling noise that has escalated to a grinding noise. I went to Genius - they told me my HD was fine, but they could do nothing about the noise. I'm super upset

I have a Macbook Pro that I bought new in August of 2011. It's been wonderful up until now. Last week, I was watching a lot of Netflix for a day, but then it began making a tiny crackling noise when I started my computer. It wasn't really bothersome, but then it's escalated into a grinding noise. A loud grinding noise. I haven't been watching Netflix and barely use any of my applications. My RPMs vary when I'm idle  and can go up to 5000. Sometimes, it falls to as low as 1600.
I went to the Genius Bar today and the technician did two diagnostics to test the HD and the parts as a whole. Everything was fine. I was like, ***. Anyways, I asked if there could be anything done for the fans because I was willing to pay (I'm out of warranty). But he said they couldn't DO ANYTHING. That I would have to deal with the annoying noise. I called up Apple and told them what happened and she said that there was nothing else that could be done.
I am so ****** because I did pay good money for this product and I expect to  have the option to repair, ESPECIALLY since I'm willing to pay for the repair. Can anyone tell me what to do? Did anyone ever have this problem?

I would guess the fan is the cause of the noise. Suggest you take a look at it.

  • Crackling noise while viewing Sky TV in bedroom using RF cable

Hi, We currently have a sky box in the livingroom. As we seem to have a really bad signal in our bedroom we cannot use freeview in there. We also cannot get Sky multiroom as we live in a flat. We now stream Sky from the livingroom to the bedroom TV using a RF cable from Sky box to output in livingroom and RF cable from output in bedroom into that TV. This generally works well and the picture is ok however we get a loud crackling noise every so often that we cant seem to stop, lately this noise has gotten more frequent and louder. Can anyone advise why this is happening and how to fix it?  Thanks.

Hopefully that will make it easier to fix!
Try changing the RF Output Channel your Sky box is using. By default it's set to channel 68. Try a channel at the other end of the range - say 25.
To do this. key Services,0,0,1,Select on your remote to get to the Installer Menu. Don't pause between key presses, don't wait for the screen to change and don't forget the Select at the end! At the Installer Menu, you'll see the RF Output tab where you'll find the Output Channel setting. Change to 25 and press Green to save the change.
Onceyou've done this, you'll need to re-scan for channels on your bedroom tv, using its setup menu.
You may need to try several RF Output Channels before you find one that works reliably.

  • MacBook Pro 13" makes crackling noise

My MB Pro that I got this year just began making a crackling noise last night when I touch the plastic port on the hinges and when I adjust the screen back and forth it makes that noise aswell. I just wanted to know do I need to be worried that it's a major problem or can I look past it? Any damage on my MB Pro in the long run due to the plastic part of the hinge?
    Thank you.

Take advantage of your warranty and have Apple check it.
    Ciao.

  • Crackle noise with plug-ins at the beginning of a region

I've experienced problems with some TC plug-ins and logic. Mostly with the Brickwall Limiter and TC Helicon Voice Modeler.
When I insert one of those plug-ins in a track, the crackle noise occures when the SPL is almost before the start of the region. So, when this region starts at measure 5 I hear this crackle noise somewhere in measure 4 (also in the bounce). And here is the most stupid workaround!! I have to place a dummy region before measure one of the song. Now, I can bounce the song (from measure -1). I still have this crackle at the beginning of my bounce (before the music starts) but now I can cut it because its at the beginning of the song. The crackle doesn't occure a second time, only when the first region on this track is passed.
I had some consultation with TC and they asked me to send them a file although they didn't know about this phenomenon.
They also recommended to experiment with "automatic delay compensation" and buffer size but it didn't help. Any ideas??

  • Samsung TV-HDMI Cable Crackling noise during video play

I have a Samsung Plasma 50inch. Just connected the HDMI cable and audio/video works great except when they're working at the same time. If I watch any movies/videos, there is a crackling noise coming from the speakers. (If I mute the TV, the crackling noise disappears.) Any suggestions on what I should do? New cable? TV issue? I'm currently using a Belkin HDMI cable.
    Thanks!

It could be a problem with the cable box. Connect your cable directly to the TV and see if you still have this problem, if you do call Samsung, if it goes away call your cable company.

  • Static crackling noise, Right speaker when audio is being played

I recently purchased this Satellite C50D-A Windows 8 Laptop. I have had it for less than 3 months. Recently the right speaker has started acting up with some sort of high pitched static crackling noise whenever audio is played regardless of it being in a web browser or any other media. Even computer sounds are distorted from this. I typically use this computer for school and play music to study. How the hell can I fix this so I can actually listen to audio without this rather irritating issue?

I tried that and it didnt seem to do much of anything.
I played part of a song on spotify and recorded it to perhaps give you an example of what it sounds like?
I covered the left speaker so most of what you hear is the right speaker alone. The distortion is pretty clear when audio comes out of that speaker.

  • Nokia 5610 with crackle noise when use headphone

    hi everybody !!!
i am using nokia 5610 XM,it's realy great music phone but when i listening music with headphone sopmetimes i can hear the crackle noise
but when i play the same song by mp3player with the same headphone i can find the crackle sound
What happend with my phone, may be the sound chip has problem ???
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

ders a few reasons y that may occur, there could be something wrong with the 3.5mm av in port, it could be dirty or damaged, or it could be a software thing where the music isn't being sent through as complete data through the connection. der r other reasons, either way, i would advise you to see a nokia care centre, especially if your warranty hasn't yet reached its void.

  • Crackling noise on my mbp

    Hi there,
I bought my macbook around December-ish and now for the past few days I have been noticing random "crackling" noises. They are soft but getting louder, or maybe I think that because I am watching for them. Before they used to just come from either the right or left end of my mbp, but now I can hear it in my headphones too when I have them plugged in. I tried Antipop without help and have searched various threads on here without finding a solution for my problem. I was wondering if anybody can tell me the reason and how to resolve it.

    Hi patel822,
I'm sorry to hear you are having issues with random noises on your Macbook Pro.
The article below is a general troubleshooting guide for sound issues.

  • AUPitch results in crackle noise

Hello! I'm having an issue with the AUPitch filter when applied to perfectly fine audio. The audio is sped up (anywhere between 110% to 130%) and then I apply the AUPitch to correct the pitch change. This results (intermittently) in a crackling noise being introduced into my audio.
Any solutions? Are there any third party audio filters for FCP? Should I just send the problem clips to to Soundtrack Pro?
    Thanks!

if the built in pitch shift plug is not working for you then you can always pursue alternative options ... how hard do you want to make it?
you can bounce the clip out to SoundTrack Pro and do some pitch shifting there
or try an alternative (and free) AU pitch shift plug in such as Octave Shifter from Audiowish

  • Crackling noise after OS X update

    hi,
I have external speakers plugged into my MBP, and after the update, after a sound had been played, like a system alert or something, after a few seconds there was a crackling noise. It is as though the soundcard is turning off to save power, as it also happens when i am running on battery mode (i know this because i ran from battery power while i was running 10.4.9).
Does anybody else have the same problem or know what the problem may be?
    Thanks

Does anybody else have the same problem or know what the problem may be?
I do have the same problem. It's good to know that I'm not alone. My MBP's sound card was defective from origin and it was replaced under the warranty. Ever-since I'm a bit paranoiac that something similar could happen, you know, that the sound card getting damaged could be only the result of another internal device damaging it.
Anyway, I hear all those noises and I don't really like them but I could live with them if necessary till an additional update is released fixing this bug.
I have to say though, that I have always believed that the audio doesn't really increase properly. We all know that the sound, from none to full, increments 16 times... Well, according to me, when you are turning the audio up, it goes up very poorly till it reaches the 10 or 11 little square, then it really cranks up. Put it in a chart, the increment doesn't draw a straight diagonal line, but a curve, a parabolic line. And also, the sounds performs very differently in Windows. Much better I believe.
    Is that not true?

  • Windows 7 Crackling Noise

    Hello.
I recently upgraded my Bootcamp partition from Windows XP to Windows 7 Professional on my 2008 24-inch iMac OS X 10.5.8. Before I upgraded, I used the Realtek sound software provided when I installed Windows XP. When I upgraded, I had very little sound. Installed the newest Windows Vista & 7 Realtek software, version R2.70, and it worked fine — except for one, incredibly annoying thing. Every couple seconds, I hear a crackling noise. I've tried re-installing the Realtek software and using different headphones, but no dice.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there any known way of fixing this? If not, what would you recommend I do?

    hi,
SkyGo+ instructions to download silverlight 5,that means it works well in silverlight 5.
you can try it in IE or Chorm.if it still doesn't work fine.you can reinstall it.and take a look at the condition the silverlight need.

  • Severe sound crackling noise with SB X-Fi ExtremGamer and 680i m

My computer suddenly (~3 weeks+ after my new build) started making extremely loud crackling noises anytime I have sound on. I remember hearing some crackling noise before on one occasion, but not nearly at this level and it seemed to "magically" disappeared so I forgot about it.
I swapped the speakers to another computer and verified that they are not the source. Unfortunately, I do not have another sound card to swap and check. I updated all of my mobo and sound card drivers, and tried my sound card on both PCI slots on the 680i, all to no avail. EDIT:Happens even with no applications and speakers on, just having Windows running has a slight crackle. No overclocking on my system.
On-board sound is disabled on BIOS.
It still makes ths sound with speaker wires touching absolutely nothing (and also stretched out as to not be wound up).
    No microphone on my system.
() Is anyone aware of any issues similar to this?

  • Crackling noise when waking form sleep

    Hi all,
my iMac has started making a crackling noise and is a bit noisy when waking form sleep? This goes away once it is started up.
    Is this normal?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
My iMac 27" (i7) exhibits the same phenomena. I have verified the following:
-It happens whenever waking from sleep, but only after sleeping for a fairly long time, at least a couple of hours. If It has been asleep for only half an hour or so it does not happens. I have not establshed the minimum sleep time necessary.
-It does not happen when booting the iMac.
-It does not happen if I only set the screen to turn off (and no sleep) so It is possibly not screen related.
I think it might have something to do with the power supply. It "feels" like there is some build up (of something) while the machine is asleep, that is released when it awakens.
It does not "feel" normal to me.....
