Crackling Sound Problems in Games with an Audigy

Hello everybody,
I started playing Warcraft III, World of Warcraft and Battlefield2 quite a while ago and at that time I did not have any problems in game. Until one day I started playing World of Warcraft and a crackling sound appeared. This sound was amplified in close places such as caves and houses and became sincerely annoying when several characters were on screen.
The sound itself looks like a crispy sound of fireworks and it hides usual sounds.
I noticed that this problem was particularly present in Warcraft an World of Warcraft and sometimes in Battlefield2.
My PC does not lack in power (Athlon FX-55, Ati Radeon X-800 XT...)and has an Audigy Sound Blaster 2ZS and a 2. Gigaworks sound system.
The problem appeared on its own and i did not activate any particular program. I tried playing with a headset and the sounds remained. I do not have any problems when listening to music.
I noticed that when I raised the bass and diminish the trebble, the sound lessens but it is still present.
Any help would be truly appreciated.
Sincerely, Dimitri

"How old is everyones card"
mine is 2 years old, generally my Creative cards li've aroud 5 years.
"I also notice I get it after a while of playing bf2..."
This kind of problem is more often software than hardware. Don't forget sound as every other things in your pc need a code implementation. It can be a bug in the drivers, but also because of one, present in your game sound engine (not the first time I would see it).
"I too have enough power..."
If your soundcard or any of your pc ocmponent wasn't receiving enough power, you would have other annoyances, like (no sound, or even reboots)
"see there are some beta drivers posted. Anyone try these?"
I prefer no using beta releases, sorry. This new drivers should do what they're said they do (see the details notes), but could also behave differently from one computer to another (the joy of betas).

  • No sound output in games with "advanced effects"...Audigy 2 ZS...HEL

<SPAN>Hi there.... I have a soundblaster audigy 2 ZS installed with the drivers and EAX console. I have noticed that if I enable "advanced EQ" in the "enable audio effects" menu, i get no sound output from games or other software, although windows noises and sound files play fine!!If i use other features from the "enable audio effects" menu such as "environment" then the sound works fine....Surely this is not meant to happen?Anyone else check this for me?

  • Performance problems in games with Sound Blaster USB Sound Dev

    Hello!
I recently bought a new USB sound device named "Creative Sound Blaster Surround 5. USB Sound Device"?or maybe also "Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit External" as this is the name that Windows is displaying.
Before, i was using a C-Media PCI Audio Device.
    Other system info:
    Windows Vista SP
ATI Radeon 9200 LE (i know it's old, but i was able to play the games before)
    2GB RAM
Now, my performance in games decreased significantly.
I only play Team Fortress 2, but i also tried an old GoldSrc engine?based game which was also slower.
The game now isn't playing fluently like before: my fps dropped and every few seconds, the graphics stop as there is a big network lag. It is now impossible to really play the game.
    i already tried
    - reinstalling steam and tf2
    - using another usb port
    - reinstalling the sound drivers
    - all (both sound and graphics) settings to low
The Steam support thinks that the data transfer rate for USB isn't high enough for what is needed and recommends that i should buy an internal sound card.
But i hope there is a different solution to this problem and someone here can help.
    Thanks!

No PCI interface, but USB = Slow. No hardware-acceleration (Mayber your CMedia had !real!, not pseudo?DS hardware support) so its normal that the soundblaster usb is slower in every term. But maybe sounds better...
The USB versions are only for Notebooks and other speciall situations where a PCI soundcard with X-FI or Audigy chip cannot be used...

Try to use Windows XP SP2/3 compatibility mode first, see if it works for you. And use Alchemy for the Audigy 2 ZS, FS2004 is making use of Directsound after all. Read the guide for using Alchemy here and here. Download Creative Alchemy here.
    Hope it works for you!

  • Having sound distortions in games with M-Audio Revolution 7.1

I'm having sound distortion problems with a couple of games. I think this started a few OS X updates ago, but not sure which one. Two known games are Quake 3 and Quake 4. When I run either of them, the sound is deep and distorted.
I'm sure an update of OS X broke m-audio's revolution driver. I currently have driver version 1.4.1. I only have distortions when sending sound output to my sound card. Sound sent to internal speaker comes out fine. I also tried with a freshly created user and freshly reinstalled driver & prefs. Same problem.
I've tried M-Audio's site with no luck for solutions. It's been a year or so since they have updated it.
Is anyone else having similar experiences with their M-Audio Revolutions?

I dont think the Card will fully work with your Machine, because of your BWG3's specs.
Reading the basic info, for Multi-Channel Operation aka Surround Sound you comptuer is not at Spec as it states it requires 733MHz G4 QS min, 800MHz G4 QS recommended.

  • Problem running games with GeForce 2 MX/MX 400

    Hello,
I recently bought a new computer. The only problem I've experienced with it is similar to some of the problems mentioned in this forum.
To give you a better idea of my problem, here's my system resources:
    Intel P4 2.0 Ghz processor
ASUS P4S333-M motherboard (ACPI BIOS Revision 1007)
1 x 512 megs of generic DDR RAM
AOpen ATX-300 GU Power Supply (Output: 300W)
2 Maxtor IDE drives (7200 RPM)
    A DVD-Rom
    An HP CD-Writer
    SB Live! Audio Card
MSI Nvidia GeForce 2 MX/MX 400 (AGP)(64 megs DDR RAM) (Latest Nvidia driver version installed: 4.1.0.9)
    OS: Windows 2000 Professional + SP 3
    DirectX 9.0
The only time I've experienced errors is while playing 3D games. I've noticed choppy video performance, freezes in gameplay and spontanious reboots. The problem is also intermitant. Sometimes the games crash on startup, while other times it occurs after as much as half and hour playtime has passed. The games I've been having problems with include Warcraft 3 and Links 2003.
I'ver checked my system's Event Viewer and found numerous "nv" errors in the system log. Here's an example:
    Date: 12/24/2002
    Time: 13:21
    Type: Error
    Source: nv
    Category: None
    Event ID: 6
    Description: Parse Error on CMDCD 00000001 00000e00 00260026 00000010 0004cd02
    Another type of error found:

    Description: GR SW Notify Error on 0001 d3d05601 00000096 00000d00 00350ea2 00000002
I've been trying to solve this problem for close to a month now. I've scoured various newsgroups and websites on the Internet. I've updated all my drivers and flashed my BIOS with the latest version from ASUS. I've tried reinstalling the games on FAT32 partitions. I've unplugged various storage drives from the power supply to see if the video card wasn't getting enough power. I've reseated all the cards on the motherboard and checked the temperature inside the case.
I've tried playing with various graphic settings in the Nvidia menu in Windows. I've tried various screen resolutions and refresh rates...
No matter what I've tried, the errors continue to occur. Based on other topics in this forum similar to this problem, I've tried looking at power supply, thermal, and BIOS issues. Nothing has worked. If anyone can suggest a possible troubleshoot for this problem, I'd be extremely grateful.
    Happy Holidays,
    Desoto

I did try updating the Sound Blaster driver and moving the cards to various slots on the motherboard without much luck...
However, (this is probably a stupid newbie question, but:) what exactly are the chipset drivers? And where would I look on my computer to find out what version I'm currently using? In the BIOS? In Windows?

  • Sound Problems (in Games)

I installed a MSI 865PE Neo 2 series board into a friends PC, but when he plays some games such like: F1 Chalenge, DTM race driver 2 and so on, the sound dissapears suddenly without any faillure message.
There is no other PCI soundcard installed, only the onboard sound is activated.
    What can be wrong here???????
    Bye,
    Lex

I already have the latest drivers, checked in the games options etc.
It's strange that the sound disapears in most games, it's not only one game that caused the problem.

  • Garbled sound NF4/Sound Blaster XFi Gamer with over 4GB memory

Sound is garbled, some people say it is popping, scratchy. System is: MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI, Opteron 185, 4 GB DDR 500 Memory, Sound Blaster XFi Extreme Gamer Sound Card and ATI HD 4850. This is a clean install of Windows 7 64 Home. Latest Creative drivers for Win7 cause sound to sound broken up or garbled. The work around is to lower the amount of memory windows can use below 4 GB, through msconfig. This work around gets the sound working, but windows now shows I have 3.25 GB of memory. The drivers seem to be the problem and I would like to know it anyone else has had this problem and what they did about it?

  • L305-S5968 Distorted/crackling sound

I am having a BAD distortion/crackling sound problem with my L305-S5968.  It occurs whether or not headphones/speakers are plugged in.
I have looked on the support page for the laptop and there was a bulletin from a couple years ago stating it was caused by the Atheros WiFi drivers....however I don't have Atheros drivers, and that bulletin was from before the laptop was even purchased.
The laptop has Realtek HD audio and Realtek WiFi and I have the most recent drivers (that I can fine at least).....PLEASE HELP ME!!!

Hi, look at my post. I know that by reinstalling Windows 7, you'll speakers will work fine again. Don't know any other way. Sorry, but that's what you need to do.

  • Help with Audigy 2 Zs and crackling sound ..

For the past 5 months or so ( not long after I got the product ) I have been getting this periodic issue with the sound ...
I'll start to notice a popping and crackling sound coming from the left channel when loud sounds issue from the game ( multiple games ). After a while I figured ou ttha tI could :
a: Reset all my settings to Default , Then reconfigure my surround
    or
b: Reinstall and/or patchthe current driver set ...
Both seem to fix the issue for some time then it all returns within a month or so .... It's a rela pain to have to keep configuring my Audio settings every month.
    My system specs are
    Asus A7N8X DLX Rev. 02
    AMD 3000+
    Gig Corsair XMS
    BFG 6800GT 256
    Audigy 2 ZS
    Raptor 74 Gig
and some Altec Landsing Speakers ( I forgot the model number )
Any idea what could be causing this ?
    Thanks in advance.

I got the fix for you twellons. Just go in the audio control panel and mute the midi/synth in the panel and you will have the fix. My system specs are close toy yours amd 2800xp, nforce 2 a7n8x dlx ver .04 and a original audigy card. Now creative has to address this issue in new drivers. Also download the demo of contract jack and when you load the game and the game menus comes up, scroll through the options in that menu like new game, load game quickly and you will here that popping noise in only the left speaker. and when you do that fix that i mentioned above, no more popping . So try that out and please get back to me and tell me if it worked or not. That issue was tough to figure out.
    P.S. You owe me

  • Crackling/Popping problems with Audigy 2 Va

Well I too suffering from this problem. It hasn't happened before, it seems to be getting worse ever since I tried switching PCI slots. I usually get the problem when I run Winamp and try to browse my computer at the sametime. I also get the problem when I play Guild Wars and not any other game like Half Life 2.
    Here's my system specs
    Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe
    Athlon XP 2800+ @ 2.2Ghz
GB PC3200 DDR Ram Dual Channel @ 52MBx2
    Radeon 9700Pro AGP 28MB
    Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Value
52GB of Total Hard Dri've Space
    Some solutions I've tried.
PCI Latency (from 32 to 64, sound and video)
    Using different PCI Slots
Sound IRQ and Video IRQ is not sharing
    Bios settings
Lowering volume, in game and on the computer
Disabling extra Audigy features (CMSS, EAX, Parametric EQ)
Though I haven't reinstall the drivers yet, I will do that someday if that might help and if it has been successful to a few.

I'm back - with a SOLUTION to the "ripped speaker like" sound problem when playing QUICKTIME! ! !
And somebody better tell --------- APPLE!!! I think.
OK - here it is.... I never really liked QUICKTIME anyway. So I went to this site and downloaded for really <EM>FREE</EM> - QUICKTIME ALTERNATIVEhttp://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Video-Players/QuickTime-Alternati've.shtml
Then before I installed it - I uninstalled Apple's QUICKTIME.
    Then I installed QUICKTIME ALTERNATIVE.
And guess what? No sound distortion. And quicktime alternati've seems pretty cool.
So there's a rotten golden apple around - they have to fix there own problem - and CREATIVE should force them.
Happy? reply to the forum and tell me. :womanhappy:
