Crackling sounds after 761 upgrade

The crackling sounds are still there after an upgrade to 761. This is very dissapointing.

OK. Thank you for your answers. We will see if there will be a solution to this annoying problem. (I have seen in privious posts under the subject Problem: Notification Sounds and Ringtones that this would be solved in the next upgrade after .757 (ref. Richard from Sony)).

Why My iPhone 4 doesn't have sound after I upgrade it to IOS 7.0.2?

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

  • K8T Neo2 Crackling sound after updating BIOS to 9.3

Yet another problem since upgrading my comp with an X2 4200+ and flashing the BIOS to 9.3.  I am now getting problems with crackling sound with my PCI Creative SoundBlaster Live Platinum 5.1 (yes I know its old but it works fine, or it did!).  With my old Athlon 3200+ Winchester and the 3.2 BIOS the sound card was working fine. The crackling seems to be linked to disk activity.  with no disk activity e.g watching live TV, no crackling.  With moderate disk activity e.g playing mp3 or video file etc, slight crackling.  Heavy disk activity e.g running disk search or starting a game etc, severe crackling.  This is repeatable every time so for example you can have live TV on with no sound problems then start a disk search and the crackling starts immediately.  There is no sign of any IRQ conflicts.  Have tried setting PCI latency in BIOS to 32 from default of 64, this had no effect.  A web search shows this was a common problem with this sound card and some earlier VIA motherboards.  Even vaguely recall the same problem myself with an old socket 7 board, but can't remember what I did about it.  Could try swapping PCI slots, but web searching suggest that rarely works for this problem and quite frankly after weeks of messing about I'm fed up of messing about with the computer.  Will report this one to MSI as well.

Sounds like there are few different issues here.  By the look of things there are potential problems with the on-board sound, so I'll keep that in reserve for the time being.  On the other hand there are two of us here with crackling problems from Creative SBLive based cards, which may or may not be Hard drive related.  In my case I have two Samsung HD's which have worked with the SBLive without problem up until the BIOS/CPU change.  Therfore I've come up with a few possibilities which I will work through one at a time.
    1.  The new BIOS (9.x) has issues with the SBLive, possibly due to Latency issues.  I'm going to have a play around with some 3rd party software to try and see what the latency seeting are for various divices.  One reported fix I've seen is lowering the AGP latency??
    2.  The sound card drivers are not installed correctly.  I've done this a few times. but have to admit getting the SBLive to work properly under XP has always been problematic, so may try this again.
    3.  The OS is not installed correctly.  I'm very suspicious of the OS since the BIOS/CPU upgrade, since I've had a few different problems.  May try a fresh install on a different hard drive.  That way I can see if it effects any of my issues and if it doesn't help can go back to my exsisting install easily.
4  APIC (Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller and NOT ACPI) This is my prime suspect at the moment.  Correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't notice a setting for enabling APIC in the 3.2 BIOS and presume that it wasn't supported in that BIOS??  However it is enabled by default in the 9.x BIOS's,  I was very surprised after installing the 9.3 BIOS and X2 CPU for the first time that on start up the OS not only detected new hardware for the CPU but for everything else as well, video, sound card, IDE controllers etc etc.  I'm now suspicious that this was due to starting up with APIC enabled which reassigned all the IRQ's for the hardware.  Conventional wisdom seems to suggest that you cannot switch APIC on or off in BIOS without re-installing the OS?  I'll try the investigate this one with the OS reinstall mentioned above, but must admit admit to being very uncertain about the effects of this mode and the pros and cons of having enabled/disabled.  Can anyone shed any light on this issue before I start experimenting.

  • Crackling sound after updating to Itunes 10.2.1 on Windows 7 Laptop

I recently upgraded to Itunes 10.2.1 on my laptop. Ever since this update, I have been getting a crackling sound whenever I play audio or video.
I know its not my Bose Companion 5s because I don't get this problem with VLC player or Windows Media Player. Its really annoying because I can't play Itunes movies or shows on those players and have to sit through the crackling sound.
Anyone else have this problem? Anyone got any solutions for this? Thank you for your help.

DO you by any chance have Norton?
I have seen one report that was associated with an unspecified Norton product. If so it might be worth briefly disabling it to see if that makes a difference.
Also I have seen one report of skipping rather than crackling associated with continuous backup.
Here is the Apple help on play back problems in case you haven't seen it:

  • NO Sound after Bios Upgrade

After updating Bios to version 2.00 there's no sound through Speaker if I switch to headphones, sound it's OK. If I suspend the PC, sound its back for almost 5 or 10 minutes then it goes.
If in Smart Audio app, I switch audio mode from Classic to Multi Stream, sound its back but after sometime it goes, just like if I suspend the PC. SO I think it's not an Speaker Issue.
PS: Tried reinstalling Audio Driver but no Luck same Problem.
    The Laptop is a:
    Toshiba Satellite C645-SP4131L
    No Hardware Upgrade
Win 8 Pro (Clean Install) (Drivers are from Toshiba One Click Upgrade) (This problem also occurs in Win 7 and a Live CD of Ubuntu)

The only way to know for sure if it's a hardware or software issue is to try a system recovery. If the problem persists, you'll know it's a hardware issue (including a BIOS issue).

  • No digital sound after Vista upgrade on Audigy Platinum

I finally got around to upgrading my Media Center PC from Win XP to Win Vista Ultimate x64. Following the upgrade and after installing the latest official drivers for my Audigy Platinum, I am unable to get any sound when using the digital out on the sound card. I also made sure to change the Audio Console setting to use SPDIF. If I switch to normal line out, it works fine and digital out worked fine on Win XP.
I tried searching but only came up with threads pertaining to the X-Fi and Audigy 2.
Is there something else Im missing to get this working in Vista?
    Thanks a bunch!!

    Hi there-
I just finally had the chance to install these drivers and I still have no sound coming out when I connect to the digital out of my Audigy card. Again, Ive verified the Audio console has been changed to SPDIF output and still nothing.
Is there something Im missing here? Are there other settings I need to change / set in Vista to get this working? This is very frustrating that this worked without issue in XP and I really dont want to have to go back to it.
    Any help is much appreciated!!

My sound card stopped working today after I updated. I was surprised because my soundcard always worked before. My music player (audacious) said something like "No audio device available".
I had to reboot 2 times. After that, my sound card worked again. I don't know why.
I don't know if you have the same problem as me, but we both had a similar problem on the same day doing the same thing (working sound card -> update -> no sound). Maybe it's just a coincidence?
What a shame but that was not the solution, my computer has been rebooted more than twice since then and still no sound

  • Crackling sound from Itunes upgrade

This is the third time i have upgraded itunes (now 6.02) and every time the sound has gone all crackly the last two times turning blue tooth on fixed the problem, but this time it doesn't...has anyone had any luck with this problem ?
I run a completely standard set up
    Thanks
    Matt

I've noticed over the last two months the same thing. I've been using iTunes for many many years and never had a problem. I am running Mac OS 10.7.2 on a 2010 27inch iMac and have ripped all my CDs which there are over 10000 songs in different bit rates. 256/320 and Apple Lossless. I only appear to have the crackling at 320 bit rate which is odd and its not every CD. I have tried re-ripping but the same issue persists. What rate are yours at?

  • Weird sound after Lion Upgrade

Hey everyone, i am totally enjoying every feature of LION! I only have one issue that i need help with. Since the update all my streaming audio, from like spotify, pandora, youtube, etc has a weird rattling sound accompanying the music.
It sounds almost like Perry The Platypus rattling his teeth in the background>>>LOL
    Anyway, can anyone help?
    Thanks!

since upgrade, my address book is there with all contacts, as before, but i can neither modify existing contacts nor add new contacts. menu items are grey and there is no edit button in lower corner of card as i have read there should be. of course, sync with google contacts does not work either. effectly, address book can make no modifications, but i can use search.
i posted a query 2 days ago and have received 0 replies.
i am now going to proceed to reinstalling lion to see if that works. this will be a new experience since there is no longer a disk, but you have to restart the mac holding the cmd+R keys and reload from app store.

  • No sound after latest upgrade

I updated my Blackberry Bold 9650 on Monday to the 6.0 Bundle 3084 and since then, I have no sound.  My phone doesn't ring.  I've tried playing ringtones off the device to see if it is an issue with the phone function, or if it is the sound itself.  NOTHING makes noise.  I am due for an upgrade in February, but this is my business phone - I can't miss phone calls because of no sound!  Except for the apps that came with the phone, I've only every downloaded one other app and it has been on the phone the full 2 years I've had it.  Can anyone offer any advice on how I might fix this?  Thanks!

Reboot your phone. Is your phone's profile set to Silent? Or did you play around with the Sound profiles and forget to change them back? At least to receive calls and notifications, you can place your BB into vibrate mode by pressing and holding the # key. Or changing it in the settings. Try calling someone and verify the volume is sufficiently up.

  • No sound after windows10 upgrade!!!

Hi can anyone help me pls seems others are havint the same issue...i have an HP Pavilion and i stupidly upgraded to windows 10 today. now when i connect my hdmi the picture comes up on my tv but the sound only plays thru my laptop.  I tried the intel utility driver but when it ran the scan it said no drivers found on this device. any info or help would be much appreciated. thanks

, Hello and thanks for posting on the HP support forums. The only options you have at this point is to roll back the system until there are updates from Microsoft so that all the bugs can be worked out. Any time an OS gets released there is a period of growing pains that we all go through. Until there are full drivers listed on the HP support page for your system and Windows 10, I would stick with what is shown under supported drivers and operating system.
Thanks again for the post and have a great day.

  • No sound after IOS upgrade

Hi, my I Pad has just upgraded to IOS 6.1. I now have no notification or keypad sounds. You Tube and music are fine. I've rebooted twice, checked all the volume settings are ok and am now stuck. Any suggestions? I wish I could downgrade again.

    1. Double-click the Home button and swipe the Task Bar (at bottom) to the right. Check volume and mute settings.
    2. Try a reset. Hold the Sleep and Home button down for about 10 seconds until you see the Apple Logo

  • No sound after Leopard upgrade PB 15 inch PPC

I recently upgraded my PB 15-inch PPC to Leopard. Installed upgrades to 10.5.8.  Now I have no sound in iTunes 10. I understand from reading other sources this is a common problem. Is there a permanent fix? Note.... PPC, therefore I cannot upgrade to Snow Leopard. Anyone tried going back to iTunes 9? (My next attempt to get sound back.) I honestly see absolutely no advantage to using Leopard. If there is no permanent fix for the sound problem, then its back to Tiger!

I'd just like to say I'm also experiencing this problem. So far the <ctrl><option>+pr reboot has worked for me every time it's occurred. Nonetheless I sincerely hope a fix will be available from Apple soon so that I (we) don't have to rely on clunky work-arounds anymore.

  • No sound after Vista upgrade

I've a Z60m 2529 E8U.  Came with XP.  Two years ago upgraded to Vista.  One of the recommended downloads completed killed all sound!  No volume; red "x" thru the speaker on the task bar; no "sound device listed in Device Manager (not even a category for sound any longer!).  Was SoundMax in a motherboard sound card.  Any help for this?  I've been told by Lenovo the only way to fix it is to go back to XP but I fear screwing up all other downloads associated with Vista (security, etc.).
    Help!
    Thanks.

Yes.  I have the same problem with my Z60t.  Loaded vista - no sound.  Tried everything suggested in the troubleshooting guide but ultimately went back to xp (and had no problems with sound).  Tried loading vista again and ended up in the same place.
Would love to know if anyone has a solution to this one.
