Crap BT handsfree voice quality using MEGA PLAYER 522BT

It has been more than 2 months since I bought my MEGA PLAYER 522BT. Initially, I was thinking of using this as my handsfree, but th evoice quality is really some crap! Eversince then, I have been checking the MSI download page in hope for new FW to improve this. So far, only 1 FW was released, and it deals only the bugs in the audio player, not the Bluetooth module.
That leads me to think that since mp3 players with 512MB onboard + ordinary BT handsfree costs more than this device, and the integration of both with the addition of SD/MMC card slot for this device will rack up the price quite a bit. But the price is very attractive when I bought it (consider it was an early launch at my place). So, the only logical thing I deduced from all this is: the BT module used in the device is CRAP!!!
I do hope I can find ways to improve it, but since it looks like it's a hardware issue, so not much hope there... Make no mistake. Using it as a pure basic music player is great, though.
If anyone could shed some light into this matter, any efforts are much appreciated.

I am annoyed with my 522.
At least 1 real 3.5mm head phone connector would have been nice.
What I would like to see is MSI backing this unit up with a range of better earphones or headphones.
It is impossible to buy any 2.5mm with a mic that work in the shops. Tiried my mda compact supplied phones. no joy.
The unit works well, my complaints are
1) An audio beep when incoming bluetooth would be nice, not just a fade.
2) Bluetooth volume passed to the headset is low, I can hardly hear calls when in noisey stations , streets.
Please MSI fix number 2.
I have not had the echo problem.
3) A better cover and belt clip/.arm clip. The one supplied is crap and is so tight the bluetooth button keeps engaging muting the sound.
Intermitant crashes , but sound is not bad.
Please MSI give me the chance to buy better phones. Ideally a 2.5mm fly lead , with a mic on for voice calls and a real 3.5mm headphone socket for my choice of phones.

MSI Mega Player 522BT problems

I just got the new player recently & here's the problem,
When connected to my mobile phone thru bluetooth, my callers always complains the mic pick up is very soft.
Is there anyway to boost the mic pickup?
I've upgraded the firmware of my 522BT to 1.04.00 version & yeat still having this problem.
The phone i'm using is SonyEricsson T610 software version is R6C005.
Is there any accessories (i.e. earphone, mic) on the market that is compatible & works with MSI Mega Player 522BT? the mini earphone jack is 2.5mm dia not the standard 3.5mm dia....

You are not the only one with those problems. I only notice the headset jack is of the mobile phone type instead of the normal audio type, despite the fact I test run it at the counter before making the purchase. It looks like one of those Nokia handphone headset plugs, so I'll try my luck one of these days at the phone accessory shops to get some other stereo handsfree to try out.
The BT headset/handsfree function is neat, but considering this is MSI's second offering of this sort of BT mp3 player (516BT was an earlier version with USB 1.1 pc link), I'm dissappointed with the sound and BT pairing quality of the player. If I keep my phone in my right pant pocket with the player in the left one, the caller will complain about a lot of statics and interferences. At the same time, I can't hear the person talking either. I did the firmware upgrade as well, but guess that's just fixing problems related to the mp3 functions. I do hope MSI tech supports will come up with some fine tuning/adjustments regarding the BT feature. My phone is not listed in the compatible phone list, but they paired, so I think it's not the problem with my phone (O2 Xphone). I tried pairing 522BT to my PC and used as the headset, and the sound quality really requires some attention. Do hope the sound quality is as good as the music playback quality...
As for the music playback, it's quite good. The sound is clear and rich, except the SRS function which I don't really like. To me, it just blurs out the music.

MSI Mega Player 522BT pairing question

I just bought this nifty gadget and when I tried to pair it with my O2 Xphone, the pairing menu showed a 'MEGA PLAYER' and a series of numbers and alphabets, shown as 2 seperate devices. I paired with the 'MEGA PLAYER' and it's working, just that the sound, mic and pairing quality really need a big boost. Can anyone explain to me what was that series of numbers and alphabets are used for?? Do I need to pair that as well??

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who thinks bluetooth mic/audio is crap. For me, it's unusable as a bluetooth headset. I've tried it on a T610, T630 and a Samung 460, and none of them were good to work with, so the problem clearly lies with the 522bt. I just hope they'll have a good firmwareupdate, and soon, because now, it just lies there...

Max SD card size supported by MEGA PLAYER 522BT?

Hi. I'm thinking of getting a new SD card for my player. I remember when I bought it, the seller was joking about lumping a 1Gb SD card into it. Will the player support this card? How to tell on the spot when I am to try it before I buy the card? I have a 256Mb SD card which works fine.

This is not the problem, I have the correct permissions, things just don't work.
I think my 2GB card might work fine now just as long as the 4G card has not been plugged in. which is not a great situation.

Bluetooth voice quality - LG Cosmos 2

Frustrated and wondering where to start. New car (Honda CR-V) and new phone (Cosmos 2.) Bought the phone solely because my original (very old) phone wouldn't "pair" with the new car's bluetooth. The Cosmos has gotten past that, makes & receives calls, phonebook has been imported and everything works fine except for one (major) thing: The outbound (phone user's) voice quality is horrible. All garbled, almost not understandable to anyone on the other end. Inbound voice (played through the car's speakers) is fine. So where do I start? I'm anticipating that Verizon will tell me it's a Honda problem and Honda will tell me it's a Verizon problem. I'll almost bet on it. Any solid, unbiased advice on what is actually likely to be the problem, and how to fix it? Thanks.

You would test outbound voice quality using just the phone not Bluetooth from the same locations to determine if the problem is with the phone and Vzw service OR if you only experience the problem when connected by BlueTooth wireless and thus the built-in mic in the Honda.

Extremely poor sound quality on all apps after using Real Player!

On my Leopard iMac (Core2Duo) I am experiencing extremely poor 'lo-fi-like' quality on all audio from all applications including iTunes, Quicktime and Safari as a result of using Real Player to play a file online.
I very rarely use Real Player and this was the first time I'd used it in months to even a year. The file was a simple RAM file from a store website allowing me to listen to a sample of a music file. When played, the quality was low but I expected this from a music sample, and from Real Player. However, after closing Real Player, I noticed the sound quality had dramatically dropped to an almost un-listenable quality.
I have restarted and uninstalled Real Player with no luck. The poor sound quality still comes through my internal speakers, as well as external speakers, so it seems like a software issue.
Not sure what to do, please can anyone help as the audio is used all day every day on this iMac!

Just tried it as I did get iLife with my Mac. GarageBand froze for the first few times I loaded it up, then I managed to get it to work. Played with the on-screen keyboard which produced perfect sound.
Closed GarageBand, restarted iTunes, tested, working perfectly! Crystal clear sound back again!

Mega Player 533- F/W v2.00.02 & Driver v1.672- Possible Problem & Fix to Recover

RE: Firmware v2.00.02 & Driver v1.672 Update dated 06/04/06 for Megaplayer 533 - Model MS5533.
I think that there is a possible problem with the above Driver & Firmware Versions as they do not seem to work for the Mega Player 533 - Model MS5533 ???. It renders the player inoperable (ie.Unable to turn player on at all) and also makes the 256MB flash drive unrecognisable to the computer (ie. computer asks for a disk to be inserted into the flash drive, similarly like the SD Expansion slot) .
All Steps to update the firmware were followed to the letter, including no battery, updating to the new version of the driver software v1.672, formatting the drive at the same time and pressing sustained "play" button.
Possible Fix : I was able to make the player operable again by reinstalling the original driver software & rolling back the firmware version back to v1.00.06 again (Try original firmware v1.00.02 if you haven't saved the v1.00.06 Firmware to your hard drive, as MSI does not have any longer the v1.00.06 firmware on their website to download anymore ). It now works as it did before :D(unfortunately still with the "ROCK" setting bug) .
NOTE: In order for computer to recognise the drive, Press sustained "Play" button when connecting to the computer, then please go to "start" (below left corner) and enter "programs" and choose "MSI MEGA PLAYER MS-5533" then "Download Firmware".
Computer should then recognise the player and allow for the firmware update .
My main concern is that many of MSI's other unsuspecting customers will download this particular software and experience the same problems as I did. They probably won't be able to figure out how to rectify this issue & therefore unfortunately be left with a player that does not work at all .
I have logged this problem now with MSI, but have yet to hear a response from them.
Has anyone else out there experienced this same problem or is it just me??? ???.
I searched this forum for any similar posts for this problem but found none.
If I am doing anything wrong to update firmware v 2.00.02, please let me know.
I did notice however that driver v1.672 software for MS5533 was called a "Megastick" and NOT a "Mega Player". Is this possibly the cause of the problem as it is the wrong driver for the MSI 533 Mega Player - Model MS5533 ???. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

After completion of one of my upgrade attempts I inserted battery and get "usb power surge" message when plugged. That rendered the device inoperable with the battery. And here is what I did to install latest firmware into my second 533:
1) I deleted all file instances and registry traces of old 533 driver and downloader versions both automatically (by uninstaller) and manually (coz related sys file was still there, in system32\drivers folder and maybe also in driver backup after automatic uninstallation). Also maybe it is necessary to perform a complete search because despite I deleted the related sys, windows was able to install recovery device probably from its driver backup folder. I also deleted related oemxx.inf from \inf folder (be careful, don’t delete the wrong oemxx.inf ones belong to other devices). Because windows rename/recopy original *.inf into oemxx.inf.
2a) I put firmware files from zip into driver installation package's bin folder.
2b) Again I put firmware files from the zip into c:\program files\msi\... after installation (though this step is probably unnecessary)
3) I removed battery, pushed the button, plugged in, windows recognized it as recovery device, after about 5 seconds (not too long coz a device timeout occurs sometimes, and if this happens unplug and replug while still pressing the button) started software, now device was disappeared from hardware list momentarily and re-recognized as storage volume.
4) Here I get an error message like "operating system error..." It was impossible to use software with the device recognized as "recovery device". I unplugged and re-plugged now without pressing the button, device was recognized as usb storage volume and I started the software and upgraded the firmware. Device was inoperable...
5) Repeated the process, now with pressing the button. I upgraded the firmware. And everything was OK. Rock EQ fault was gone. A playlist function is added, hough I dunno how to use this as yet : ) When I go into playlist option I’m unable to exit, and only way I found to exit is turnoff. Except this detail it works properly.
My computer is a standard Dell latitude c600 (an old model with one USB-1 port only), with windows xp spII. Device chip is stmp3502 according to latest driver but it was a stmp3500 according to driver on the cd came with the device.

PS: Despite the whole adventure I really like this device, its plain design, SD card feature, removeable battery, and especially its stmp35xx chip, also used in ipod shuffles which is regarded as best sounding ipod model, by some people.
PS 2: Maybe this is known to everyone, but I just noticed that it is possible to play non-compressed wav files with maga player 533 (16 bit 44.1 khz stereo PCM files). All you have to do is copying them into "voice" folder of the device. Then you have CD quality audio. I dont know whether it is possible with older firmwares too, or just a feature of latest one. I also tried higher quality formats like 24 bit 48 khz but device couldnt see these ones

Mega player 541 small clips during playback

hi everyone.
i'm having this issue with the mega player 541.
during playback small noises (like clipping or cpu drop in multitrack programs ) randomly.
as they are random i'm sure that the mp3 files are not corrupted.
has anyone this same problem? i guess it could be a firmware problem, but no update is available.

in that case, you should try using different MP3 encoding software, or a different MP3 codec, in order to rip music to MP3 format.
or use WMA instead, i find the sound quality to be better, and the files are generally smaller too, so you can fit more on your player

Questioon, congratulations on being successful.
Unfortunately, the problem is that Firmware v2.00.02 & Driver v1.672 does not seem to work for everyone.
There have been several cases (including myself) where these particular Firmware & Driver Version updates have not been successful & have actually left the Mega Player 533 inoperable afterwards, no matter what techniques were used to update the software (including MSI's Website Instructions).
Could you advise since upgrading your Mega Player 533 to Firmware v2.00.02 did you get the same problem as linhart.ondrej, where the player drives are now no longer being detected by the computer so that nothing can be copied to or from the player.
Also, it would be very informative if you could tell us:-
(1) What operating system is being used by your computer.
(2) What Device Chip is being used in your Mega Player 533. (You can find this out in the Firmware Update Screen. If you click on the "Show Details" Button within this screen you will see it in the top right corner) and
(3) Was there anything different in the procedure that you used that allowed you to be successful with the firmware upgrade to v2.00.02?
Any further details that you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Mega player 538 firmware problem

Hi! I just bought Mega Player MS5538 with LCD, without radio.
I updated the firmware to v.1.11.03 and now I don't have option to use voice recording.
Can you tell me what to do to restore that option because it's really important to me.
Original firmware was v.1.10..... I don't know exactly. Can you send it to me or give me a link to download.

The firmware should be on the CD that came with the unit. You would flash that firmware the same as you did the one you downloaded and flashed already.
You can also use the product link at the top of the forum, to find all firmware for your unit.

I have BTtoes and MSI Mega Player 516. I think there is a possibility to use MSI Mega Player 516 as wireless headphones. Problem is with pairing. Can u help me? I have the same problem to use it as handsfree to my mobile Siemens S55.

Voice quality problems on iPhone 5s with IOS 7.02 on Verizon.I

I have a brand new iPhone 5s with IOS 7.02 on Verizon. Everything works great except when on talk on the phone the normal way. When I do that, people tell me they can hardly hear me. But, when I put them on the speaker phone, they can hear me very well. Also, Voice Memos, and SIri all work just fine. It is only when I talk on the phone the normal way (without the speakerphone on) that the voice quality I am transmitting is very low. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks very much.

Apple helped me solve this problem. They gave me a brand new iPhone 5s. The were just great in their support. It appears that my first iPhone 5s had a faulty "audio chip." This is the chip that changes the frequency of your voice as you talk into the microphone; Apple explained that it is one frequency when talking on the phone, and another where using the speakerphone, and another when using Siri, and another when using voice memos, etc. You use the same 2 microphones for all of these applications (one at the bottom of the phone, and one my the camera lens), but the "audio chip" adjusts the freqency based on the applicaiton you are using. So, on my first iPhone 5s, my "audio chip" was defective, so they gave me a new iPhone 5s, and it has been working just fine. I had the most current IOS operating system on the original iPhone 5s with the faulty "audio chip," and on my new iPhone 5s which works great. Hope this helps. The technicians at Apple Customer Care and at the Apple Store are very aware of this problem with potentially defective "audio chips" in some of the iPhone 5s's. Cheers, Clarence from Cleveland.

IPhone 4s - Battery issue and poor voice quality

I had bought my iPhone in May this year. It was working fine till i think a week back battery started to drain quickly at 10% every hour. I have configured office exchange account for mail and accessing global exchange contacts, Google account as exchange for contact sync and iCloud. i dont keep any contacts on exchange, keep in Gmail only. Was Android user earlier.
I read a lot of posts and tried all solutions such as turning off timezone service in location, turn off and delete all email accounts, kept manual sync for emails, ran the battery down till switch off and charging back to 100%, removed apps i doubted could be syncing data in background, turned off locaiton service totally, turned off calendar, turned calendar notifications, turned of iCloud reminder, notes but no effect. Wifi and Siri are also off.
I notice today that I am getting small circle near operator name rather than E symbol (for edge)and at the same time voice quality of person on other end is bad too, can hear small cracking , clicking sounds, voice breaks. Otther person can hear me properly. I get back E symbol in some different place than my desk. I havent changed my desk so thats not a possibility either.
Someone had suggested queued network thread with exchange can cause the issue so Installed System Activity Monitor app but it doesn't show battery graph or which process is taking CPU or network time. Moreover, it shows 4-5% less battery level than on top in disharging mode !!
Used to get good stats of what is eating the battery in my old HTC Desire but iPhone doesn't offer such feature to diagnosis. Ideally should not be required if phone works as expected.
What do I need to do to get battery life and voice quality back? I will try voice again at home just to rule out bad network at work.

Well, most of what you did is black magic, and has nothing to do with battery drain. But we have no way of knowing how your battery life is below what you think it should be. What are you using it for, what apps do you have, and how much Usage life do you get (settings/general/usage).

MSI Mega Player 536 VIDEO FILES...

1- WHY in the product menu in MULTIMEDIA we found an Video folder ?? is it really that MSI Mega Player 536 able to play VIDEO files ???
2- IF YES !!! so,what type of files that can be played on the MSI Mega Player 536 ?
3- how can i but/convert some Video files i own in my PC in the MSI Mega Player 536 to play it ? (what program and codec to use)
4- i tryd the camtasia movie converter to make a movie to play on the MSI PLAYER put i only saw a BLACK SCREEN flashing and closed again !! why ?

5536 and 5540 can playback avi and .mov video files, but these files codec must be M-JPEG format!!
Please attention: 5536 didn’t playback MP4 or WMV video formats, and also couldn’t reveal these files!!
“Quick Time7 Pro” and ““Canopus ProCoder Demo v1.25” converting software can support 5536/5540 video format (M-JPEG) to playback, but “QuickTime7 Pro” isn’t free, you have to purchase it, and “Canopus ProCoder Demo v1.25” is free, but only can use 30 days. Please go to below website to download it and you have to register and login!!

When you download “Canopus ProCoder Demo v1.25”, please modify file name to “ProCoderDemo_1_25.exe”, then this file just can become execution file, after installation you have to check video and audio codec, have a little trouble, I will explain how do set M-JPEG codec!!

By the way, You can select another sample rate parameter on the audio setting, but you can only choose 10.000 frame rate (fps) on the video setting, this value will influence whether can playback after converting video, so this setting is very importantly!!
