Crash after 10.8.5 upgrade

After upgrading my MacBook Air 2011 to 10.8.5 the computer crash at start up.
The screen get filled with text and it starts with "panic(cpu 3 caller 0xffffff800d6b8945):"
I got some pictures at this photostream: https://www.icloud.com/photostream/#A1532ODWJp39tz
Some one got a solution for this?

Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
Here are some general guidelines. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickYourMac.” First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickyourmac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickYourMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickYourMac.” If not, open “BrickYourMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button.
You may have to log out or reboot in order to complete an uninstallation.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase your boot volume and perform a clean reinstallation of OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" that purport to remove software.

My computer crashed after an attempt to upgrade to Yosemite. I can't quit the installer and my MacBook keeps on restarting

I Have a 2008 Macbook Pro 15". It was running issue free until I upgraded to Yosemite. Now my logic board is fried and apple will not fix it. It started with mail accounts unable to send mail, just had to delete accounts and re- install to fix that. But, at the same time as the download, I started intermittently getting a green tint over the screen along with a snowy static like an old TV set. Fearing that my download was corrupt, I re- installed Yosemite over-writing the previous version .  The green haze kept coming and going, but I also started getting strobe style white flashes in boxes in the 4 corners of my monitor. I had to do power button forced shutdowns because of pointer and keyboard function failure. Apple Genius desk told me it appeared to be a logic board failure but my computer was too old for them to work onand referred me to a Mac Specialist Center. I was told by both places that Apple installed defective logic boards back then due to changing solder formula. They extended product warranty by adding 1 yr but that still expired in 2012. I tried to post a warning on Mac Forums twice about Yosemite being a poison pill to certain platforms and my posts were pulled. The second attempt was responded to in my personal email account stating that if I don't stop posting derogatory comments, I will be blocked from forum. I am just trying to insert warnings in posts where I can. They haven't discovered that yet. Spread the word!

  • Desktop computer crashes after sleep mode since upgrade to Snow Leopard

Since I upgraded my power Mac to Snow Leopard in December, I've had nothing but problems, all of which appear to stem from when it comes out of sleep mode. This computer and all applications were rock solid in Leopard! I also have a mac book running identical programs and that IS rock solid on Snow Leopard. I have a 2 x 2.8 GHz Quad Core Intel Xeon processor with 10 GB ram.
I did a complete re-install of SL and all programs as per the Apple instructions.
Basically, the computer crashes after sleep mode. I've tried all the fixes I've read on the net. Here is the report thread from the last crash. Does it mean anything or throw any light on the problem to anyone?
    Thanks,
    David Wright

The problem has been identified as the RME fireface400 audio driver. I've spent some considerable time experimenting to identify the culprit. It's clear that this is what is causing all my problems since Snow Leopard. Whether it's exclusively the drivers fault or partly also due to a conflict with apple SL, I don't know, but I have crash reports if apple want to see them.
From your first post, it appears you are using Fireface audio driver version 2.64. RME released a new Snow Leopard compatible driver (version 2.65) last December. It is available at RME: Downloads. (There is also a firmware updater for the Fireface 400 there, which you might want to check out.)
It isn't at all unusual for a new OS version to require new drivers for third party hardware. References to this can be found all over the web, in "read me" files & other documentation, etc. -- it doesn't just apply to OS X but to Windows & other OS's as well. (One of the biggest problems with Vista was poor third party driver support.) In fact, the X-Lab "Resolving Kernel Panics" article specifically cautions users to make sure all such drivers are current. See section 6.1 of that article for more details.
I don't know if you missed all this somehow, but if you haven't already downloaded & installed the new RME driver (& possibly the firmware update as well), then do so now. While you are at it, check for other similar updates for any other third party hardware devices you use, using the info in section 6.1 of the X-Lab article as a guide.
Hopefully, this will resolve your issue, which (as already mentioned) is kernel panics, not crashes. If you still have problems, post more about them, being mindful of the difference between application crashes & kernel panics. Because they are fundamentally different, they have different cures, so we will need to know which type they are to offer effective help.

  • Safari keeps crashing after 5.1.1 upgrade

Using safari keeps crashing. Mostly on Facebook but it has happened on other sites as well after long usage. Tried chrome app and it does the same thing. Also did a reset and the problem still exists.

I'm having the same problem since updating to iOS 7.1.  Safari now crashes every time I try to open bookmarks and also intermittently when trying to enter web addresses.  I've tried doing a hard reset and clearing cookies and history but nothing works.  It worked fine before upgrade.  I'm using a three week old iPad Mini with Retina Display and am seriously regretting my purchase.  Can anyone help?

  • MacBook Pro Crashes after 10.6.7 Upgrade

    Hi guys,
Have a 2008 17" MBP and upgraded to 10.6.7 the other day. Since then my mac has been crashing several times a day - sometimes it doesn't wake from sleep. sometimes it crashes even at the login screen after rebooting. Have also noticed that it's generating a lot more heat, more quickly, and the fans are staying on a lot longer even after putting it to sleep.
I've read a few other threads that are relating this issue to the 2011 Macbook Pro's or iTunes issues. I do also have the latest version of iTunes, but it's been working fine for me.
Wondering if anybody else is experiencing the same issue - I'm thinking that I should downgrade back to 10.6.6 just to be safe, unless anybody knows if Apple are releasing a fix anytime soon!??
    Cheers.

    Hi Josh,
Please follow the below steps for the kernal panic issues on mac:
    1) SMC RESETTING
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time after 25 seconds.
    2) PRAM SETTING
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down
    Turn on the computer.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
IF THE ABOVE STEPS DOES NOT WORK THEN PLEASE FOLLOW THE BELOW TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS.
    3) BOOT TO STARTUP MANAGER
Press and hold the option key and start the machine then the machine will boot to the startup manager.
Check in the windows the partition of your HD shows or not.
If it shows then the machine is working fine but if it does not show then the Hard disk is gone for a toss.
    4) INSERT THE MAC OSX INSTALL DVD (IF THE HD IS SEEN IN STARTUP MANAGER)
    Boot to the disk.
If still you get the same error which you have resported then it will be 2 possible hardware issues.
Either the Hard disk or the Logic Board.
If you are able to boot through the disk and get the language selection link then go to the first option SELECT ENGLISH AS A MAIN LANGUAGE.
Then very next page you need to click on utilities option (Found on the task bar at the top)
Select the disk utility and in that page you get 3 options
1.Some HD size in MB with any of the HD company name
    2. Macintosh HD.
    3. optical drive
Select the first option and do the repair disk only.
(NOTE: In the install DVD do not run the repair disk permissions as it sets the default permissions)
While repair disk if you get the error that repair disk failed and backup data and reinstall sort of error then you need to do the erase nad install where you will be losing all the data but can restore it if you have time machine backup.

  • Frequent freeze and crash after 10.9.2 upgrade

    Dear Apple experts,
I am having above mentioned issues with the worst case scenario of 2-3 times a day complete computer freeze with only a hard rest as a last remedy. I have never had this issues before and it seems to have something to do w/ the connectivity and WiFi, which makes the apps poll the network and then freeze if there's instability in the connection. It starts usually with one app going into freeze mode and then gradually spreading into all other apps with the final effect, swichting between apps with CMD+Tab doesn't work and even force quit is not available either.
I wonder if looking at the crash logs would help to diagnose the root cause.
After talking to Apple Care, they just said re-install w/o looking into the issue in the first place.
Any idea where to start and where to end?
    regards
    Shahab

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post any other kind of report — it will be very long and not helpful.

  • Firefox crashes after adobe flash 11 upgrade

I have Win7 (64). My Firefox 14.0.1 was working find with Adobe Flash 10. When Firefox upgraded to 15.0.1 and simultaneously upgraded to Adobe Flash 11. Now Firefox crashed as soon as I go to a site with Flash content (like cnn.com or youtube.com). As soon as I uninstall Adobe Flash completely, Firefox starts to respond again (but of coarse without displaying any Flash contacts as it was uninstalled). I even tried downgrading back to Firefox 14.0.1 and reinstalled Adobe Flash 11, and I get the same crashing results. As well as the same results when I uninstall Adobe Flash (meaning that is responds again, but without displaying Flash content). I also tried the same sequences in safe-mode, but still have the same issues.
I am seeing lots of posts regarding trouble with the new Adobe Flash 11, but no definative solution. Can someone please assist me with this. Or at least instruct me on how to downgrade back to Adobe Flash 10. Their site is not clear on how to do this.
    Thanks
BTW - I have a second computer that is a complete cloned image of this machine (the only difference is the hardware setup is different, with different respective drivers). This second computer is not having any problems with Firefox 15.0.1 and Adobe Flash 11. Can this problem be caused by a hardware issue?

    Hi gguevara,
First try to [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-extensions-themes-to-fix-problems#w_turn-off-hardware-acceleration Turn off hardware acceleration] in Firefox and "disable the hardware acceleration" in the Flash Player too :
    http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/video-playback-issues.html
    http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/help01.html
also try to [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Flash#Disabling_Protected_Mode_in_Flash_11.3 Disabling Protected Mode in Flash] (the link is for 11.3, do the same for 11.4), see the same in "Last resort" in the next link from adobe forum http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1018071?tstart=0
Finally if you still have crashes you must [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes#w_step-2-install-flash-10-3 download and Install Flash 10.3] '''but first''' '''''uninstall''''' your current version [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/flash-113-crashes#w_step-1-uninstall-flash with adobe uninstaller program] .
"Can this problem be caused by a hardware issue?" see:

Are you getting any sort of blue screen just prior to the PC rebooting? If so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x\[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
If the blue screen mentions a specific file (for example, “ati3duag.dll”), let us know what that is called too. (Exact spelling, please.)
Here's a reference on the sorts of things i'm asking about:
    Troubleshooting Windows Stop Messages
If you're not seeing a blue screen (or if you’re just seeing a flash of a blue screen before the PC reboots), we can use the following technique to make hidden blue screens appear for us:
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.
With those settings in place, does a blue screen appear before the PC reboots?

  • Microsoft outlook crashes after 10.10.1 upgrade

    Hi All,
I just updated my OSX Yosemite from 10.10 to 10.10.1
After this update Microsoft Outlook crashes on startup.
All other Microsoft Apps work without a problem.
The error I got from the crash reporter is:
    Dyld Error Message:
      Library not loaded: @rpath/PowerPlant.framework/Versions/14/PowerPlant
      Referenced from: /Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Microsoft Outlook.app/Contents/MacOS/Microsoft Outlook
Reason: no suitable image found.  Did find:
      /Applications/Microsoft Office 2011/Microsoft Outlook.app/Contents/MacOS/../../../Office/PowerPlant.framework/Versions/14/Pow erPlant: unknown file type, first eight bytes: 0x4D 0x4D 0x00 0x2A 0x00 0x00 0x06 0xDA
    Anyone have the same issue?

Was it crashing within seconds of launching Word, Excel or Powerpoint? I had that same issue and was able to fix (I believe) using Yosemite Cache Cleaner. There are some other possible fixes you might want to try that I outlined in this article: http://www.hightechdad.com/2014/11/24/how-to-fix-mac-office-2011-crashing-in-yos emite/

  • Problems with crash after 4/17/15 upgrade.

My screen goes blank white, then black and back to white again.  After that it reboots.  This on happened after upgrade to latest X 10.0.3.  Anyone experiencing the same. I have a Macbook Pro/2012.  Also, it happened in firefox.
    David

Yes I know I have other hardware on my computer.  I believe that you made a suggestion to reinstall after simpler problems, I uninstalled Norton's software and that solved my problems in the past.  This problem started after the very last update.
    Thank in advance, David

  • PS3 and Safari crashes after Snow Leopard upgrade

How is everyone enjoying the crashes after their Snow Leopard upgrade? I can't save a photo using PS3, or download a photo to flickr or facebook without a crash. PS3 crashes, Safari crashes and work flow is at a crawl? Spoke with tech yesterday and they told me that this would stop if I downloaded Snow Leopard again, which I did, but the problem wasn't resolved. To top it off, I lost permissions on the iMac and can't use the computer. Please tell me where all of the accolades came from? Were the reviews done by people who actually work on their computers or by people who play on them? Oh, and another thing, lost my wireless access to the router and had to start all over. Be careful here, this has not been fun!

Excuse me, I meant to write CS3 instead of PS3.

  • Mail keeps crashing after 2.0 Upgrade

After installing the 2.0 upgrade my mail worked for about 24 hours. Now when I open mail it looks like it is trying to load and then quits and returns me to the home screen. I tried deleting my email accounts and the Settings app quits out returning me to the Home screen. When I go back into Settings my email accounts are still there. Has anyone else had a problem with this?

I had the exactr same problem with Mail crashing after you upgrade to 2.0. You do not have to restore back to the factory settings assuming you have a backup on your hard drive.
    1) Restore your iPhone to the latest 2.0 firmware. Use either the local copy on your hard drive or press Option key (Mac) or Shift key (Windows).
    2) Let the iPhone to a clean install of the firmware.
    3) When you are prompted to restore your BACKUP (not firmware), disconnect your iPhone from the computer
    4) Go into Settings -> Mail and create any email account (Yahoo, GMail, etc.) and verify the connection.
    5) Open the mail application to ensure it is loading properly.
    6) Connect the iPhone back to your computer
    7) Select the backup that has the data you wish to restore.
Upon restore of the backup, your mail application will be working again.

  • Crashing after upgrade to 10.8.5

I read a number of notices about Mac Pro (5.1, built november 2011, model 2010) crashing after waking from sleep after upgrading from 10.8.4 to 10.8.5. My Mac Pro crashes after starting up (just after the Apple appears). I then get something that looks like a kernel panic (but the text is gone before I can fully read it). I have tried to do a full re-install and I have tried to start up in Safe Mode (after the full re-install). I have done the same on two other disks (the first disk is an SSD, the second an internal hard disk, the third an external hard disk). In all cases the machine crashes at start up. I have had to downgrade to 10.8.4 to be able to work again.
In one discussion it was suggested to find 'eltima'. I never had the app installed and there is no file (using 'Easyfind) that contains the name.
    Any other suggestions, please?

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS. You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it.
