Crash at startup unable to convert catalog

running on VIsta.  Program opens from the shell.  When catalog program opens it crashes.  Then before this problem started I was trying to convert a version 7 catalog.  But always hung and told me to rebuild.  I've rebuilt the index, fixed the non-existent file corruptions then tried to convert again and again and again.

oh, and uninstalled, rebooted the computer, then reinstalled also

  • Unable to convert catalog from 10 to 12.

I've just purchased Elements 12 and am trying to convert my Elements 10 catalog.  I have a brand new laptop running Windows 8.1 and a catalog of 16,000 photos.  I've been trying for several days to convert the catalog but the process continually fails. The conversion gets to 100% and then fails.  The logs say that the process fails because an older version of Elements is open and the catalog is in use.  I've tried rebooting and only opening Elements12, but it still fails.  I've used Task Manager to terminate Elements 10 and the other processes that are linked to Adobe, but nothing works. I've turned off Auto-Analyzer, People Recognition and Visual Search and that didn't work either. Does anyone have any other suggestions?  Thanks.

I've tried killing AutoAnalyzer and i have uninstalled Elements 10, so there is no earlier version of the application to close. I've restarted many times and opened Elements 12 and tried to do the conversion before opening any other apps.  I did not see the FileAgent as a process running in Task Manager. Nothing seems to work.  Is it possible that there is a temp file somewhere that makes Elements think that the catalog is open even when it's not?
(I just purchased version 12 through Costco on July 17, but have never used it because of the catalog issues.)
    Thanks,
    Melinda

Conversion Log ends with "flattening 3gpp files, removing j2k files...An error was encountered in the sqlite database: unable to open database file
    conversion log: Conversion Failed.

Log says “unable to convert SQLite db” and then “Conversion failed”. This is before it does anything with specific images.  The line right before the above is “gpp files flattened . . .” which I believe are sound files

  • Delete Lightroom Catalog to bypass Lightroom CC 2015 crash on startup

!Lightroom 6 (CC 2015) crashes on startup. I'm running Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10.3). I've tried the various fixes listed on the forum (restarting the computer, logout/login of Creative Cloud, and numerous uninstall/installs of both Creative Cloud and Lightroom. None of these have worked.
However, I've found a temporary fix.
    1. Logout of Creative Cloud
    2. Open your photos folder
    3. Delete any Lightroom Catalogs
    4. Login to Creative Cloud
    5. Open Lightroom CC
    6. A dialog window appears: Lightroom Catalog was not found. Choose the option "Choose a different Catalog"
    7. Choose the option "Create a new catalog"
    8. Lightroom now successfully opens.
To clarify, I'm not trying to open a Lightroom 5 catalog. I'm not even going to bother importing my actual working catalogs until this issue is resolved.
This option, while successful, is tedious. Is there an easier fix? Is this an issue with file permissions? Or is the process of opening existing catalogs corrupted?

    Jay,
If you just completed installing Lightroom CC, try signing out and back in and see if it helps. This link explains how:
sign in and sign out of the Creative Cloud desktop app

  • Premiere Elements 7 Crashes on Startup

The programme has been working fine for about 2 months but, as of last night, my copy of Premiere Elements 7 has started crashing on startup...it gets through the load screen and gives me the usual options to open an existing project or a new project etc--but as soon as the editing workspace opens, I get an error message and the programme closes.  If it helps anyone, the reported details of the crash are:
      Fault Module Version:    0.0.0.0
      Fault Module Timestamp:    00000000
      Exception Code:    c0000005
      Exception Offset:    00000000
      OS Version:    6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3
      Locale ID:    2057

      Additional Information 3:    860f
      Additional Information 4:    6eabdd9e0dc94904be3b39a1c0583635
If it's significant, the fault appeared on my first attempt to open the programme after Adobe Updater told me there were updates available and I let it go ahead...I wonder if something became corrupted in that process.
If anyone has any fixes based on the above, I'd be grateful.  However, I'm more than willing to just reinstall (I still have the original download files available on my computer) but, before I try this, want to make sure I will be able to re-register my copy when I have done the reinstall (I have all the codes etc.).  Perhaps I'm being paranoid but I've used Audition for ages and know people have had problems registering again if they've been unable to unregister a copy before starting again...I don't know if Premiere Elements 7 is the same but want to make sure I have my "ducks in a row" before starting a process I might regret.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Bob

Well, I've solved it without re-installing but I'm surprised at what caused the trouble.
There was a faulty .avi file in the directory I've nominated for storing my source video and audio.  (I'd started to transfer a large file, realised it was the wrong one and stopped the transfer before it was complete.)  Deleting this one file has the programme working properly again.  I mention it in case it helps anyone else in the future but I'm surprised something so basic could cause a crash.
Thanks for the advice that reinstalling isn't a problem...good to know just in case I ever have to.
    Bob

  • PSE9: Only 366 of really 56467 pics show in converted catalog?

Problem: No conversion of PSE 7 catalog.
Running Windows 7 on quadcore machine.
    Downloaded trial version of PSE9.
    Installed on my wife's machine.
PSE 7 shows 56467 pics on 202 files.
    Started PSE9
    Opened Organizer
    Convert catalog.
Conversion crashes with "insufficient memory" error.
Investigation shows C: drive filled up, only 1 GB free.
Free disk space on C: drive
    Uninstall PSE 9
    Restart
    Install PSE9 second time
    Start Organizer
    Convert catalog started again
    No crash
    Result: Only 366 (!!) pics
Question: What happened to the other 56000 pictures?
Installed PSE 9 on my machine. Converted PSE7 catalog. Everything runs o.k.
BTW: Just found original CD(!!) of PSE 2.0! Looks like we are looooooong time users of PSE!
Hope our Gurus (Guruines? - what is the politically correct description of female gurus?) have a solution!
    Regards,
    Alexander

Hello Saurabh! Thanks for coming back to my problem.
Here my replies to your questions:
    - The 56,000 pics database was always on my wife's machine (she is the price winning photographer). Her system runs under Vista, fully updated. The system always gets backed up to an external drive and runs well under PSE 7.
    - She skipped PSE8.
    - When I installed PSE9 (Trial Version) on her machine yesterday, the above mentioned problem started. I could not convert the DB to PSE. As a longtime user of PSE and computers, I guessed, as mentioned, that when I got the message of insufficient memory, that this was the problem that PSE7 did not convert to PSE9.
    I then re-installed.
Please see my previous message for all the detail steps I made and had no luck.
    Yes, looked with File View.
The number of files - 202 - stayed the same on both PSE9 installs.
Right now I uninstalled the PSE9 Trial Version and really await help. I don't dare to continue on her machine!
You mention to go to Find>By History>Imported and now please see my new message, titled "PSE9 tell me that it deletes all tags!" as this is a new grave problem, this time on my machine and I do not want to try it on my wife's as I get killed if she looses all her tags of 56,000 pictures!
Sure hope to get help so my wife can use the new Editor's layer masks, etc.!!
    Thanks,
    Alexander

  • Elements 12 Organizer Crashing on Startup

Hi, my copy of Elements Organizer 12 running on Windows 7 is crashing on startup. It loads the program screen then windows immediately reports that the program has stopped working stating that "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available."
I have tried the solutions suggested here: Premiere Elements 12 Organizer keeps crashing. and Elements Organizer 12 crashes after startup and have even renamed the entire adobe folder in "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming". This folder gets recreated when I open organizer but the program still crashes.
If I simply rename or delete pas.prf then it does not get recreated. While if I remove the Elements Organizer folder It gets created with just 3 files and the OLD folder in the "Elements Organizer\12.0\Organizer" folder as follows:
    breeze_preprocess_config.xml
    BreezeConfig.xml
    Log.txt
Please can you advise me if there is anyway I can fix this without having to do a full reinstall? I am keen to retain the current catalogue if possible as I have over 15,000 rated pictures in it.
I notice that there is no catalog files in the locations mentioned in: Elements Organizer 12 crashes after startup, so could you please also advise if there is another location the catalog could be stored in under Windows 7?
    Thanks
    Adrian

I've managed to partially solve my own problem so will outline it for anyone who has a similar issue.
Firstly the locations in the thread I linked to appear to me to just the preferences files rather than the actual catalogues. I think my catalogues are in the default location which is "C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs".
It was the catalogue itself which was corrupted and specifically the file thumb.5.cache in the root directory of the catalogue.I deleted this file and hey presto Elements Organizer will now load. Everything except the thumb nails seems to be fine so after a few hours rebuilding the thumbs I am back to where I was before the corruption.
My hypothesis for the cause of the crash was windows performing a restart after installing updates overnight while I had the organiser open.

  • Lightroom 6 (standalone) & Application manager crash on startup (Mac)

    Hi All,
I bought LR6 (perpetual licence, upgrade from LR5) yesterday and installed it flawlessly on my iMac Retina.
Since it's allowed to have it installed on 2 machines - though not running it at the same time - I tried to install it as well on my MacBook Pro Retina (2012) and........
The first time LR opened on my laptop, it managed to create a new catalog. Cool. Then...
When I closed and try to reopen LR multiple times, it crashed on startup.
I uninstalled and reinstalled it, and it wouldn't open any catalog or create a new one.
Crash happens before LR opens, so I have no way to update to latest version that's supposed to fix startup issues
More interesting: after reinstalling again, even the Adobe Application Manager wouldn't launch. Says that it doesn't have writing permissions to folder Library/Application Support/Adobe
This folder contains 3 sub-folders: AAMUpdater, Lightroom and OOBE. Dunno if something is missing there.
I checked the folder permissions in the Finder (they were correctly set, as I obviously am the admin of my computer) & ran the disk utility twice to check & repair permissions. No change.
I also extensively read this existing thread (Lightroom CC crashes) and this link (Lightroom doesn't launch or closes automatically after splash screen), but none of them worked for me.
LR5 is still installed and works fine.
OS is Yosemite 10.10.3 and all updates done.
Can any of you kindly help me with this?
Thanks a lot for your support!

Can you check to see if you're running the latest update of AE?
I'm assuming from your information that you can start the program, and see the AE workspace - but then if you try to create a project or anything it crashes? Is that correct? or are you not even getting the workspace?
Have you tried starting AE with ALL other applications closed? (make sure there is no conflict with anything else)
Did you install any third-party plugins?

  • Crashing at startup!!!

adobe premiere pro keeps crashing at startup and I unable to open the program. I feel like I have tried just about everything. If anyone has any suggestions, it would be much appreciated.

Would you mind explaining what you mean by hardware and system set up?
We know nothing about your OS, computer hardware, Premiere version etc...
We do know what you have tried to fix it.
Fundamental info someone might need to know if they were to be able help

  • Dreamweaver Crashes on Startup

After many months of Dreamweaver CS4 on my Mac working fine, it suddenly started crashing on startup. Just before this problem started, I was working in a file based on a template. An error message came up, and unfortunately I didn't write down what it said. I do remember pieces of it. It was regarding a javascript error and had the following parts that I remember, onblur, description.htm, and line 69 (I think). Dreamweaver soon crashed, and now it just gets past the Welcome screen and crashes. I have searched the Dreamweaver forum, and based on suggestions have done the following:
    deleted the cache file
added more text to files that were 8kb
    deleted the configuration folder
renamed the file I was last working on before the crash
    deleted Dreamweaver CS4 Preferences file
    Disabled the Welcome screen
At one point in all this, I was getting a message when Dreamweaver was unable to read preview in browser preferences, and please remove all browsers form the list and add them again--but I am no longer getting that message.
After hours of trying to solve this I got so frustrated I even tried to call Adobe support, knowing that I would have to pay dearly for help. I was on hold for 45 minutes, and finally gave up.
I would be eternally grateful if someone could help me with this.

I dont have an answer to your problem, but I do know that the best way to get through to adobe is to NOT press the button for customer support, but to go to techincal support.  I had an issue, twice, if I recall correctly I was on hold for way too long, went back, pushed the TS button, live help (his name was Bob with a foreign accent...nuff said) and problem was solved in 10 minutes.
    HTh
    Good Luck

  • Firewire Drive Causes Crash at Startup, Safe Boot OK

I have a LaCie External Drive that all of a sudden decided to start causing OSX to crash at startup. While connected booting normally brings up the "need to restart" screen, booting in Single User causes a Kernel Panic, Safe Boot is ok, Booting from Install Disk is ok, but as soon as I connect the drive it's "you need to restart..."
    So far i have tried the following;
Zapped the PRAM, repaired permissions normally while disconnected, repaired permissions in Safe Boot while connected, and repaired permissions from Install CD while connected.
My question is of course, what can be causing this problem and how do I fix?
I have sifted through previous discussions but was unable to find an answer, so I apologize if this is a duplicate. Also, if anyone knows of a better category to list this I would appreciate input. Thanks!

    DOH!
Like everything else in life, the simplest solution is best. after remembering that the drive is both USB and FW i dug up my cables and tried the USB connection and...all better. So yes, I guess this would prove that the FW port is to blame.
    Thanks for the help!

  • Random crashes at startup

    Hi there,
I recently had a problem of the computer "forgetting" the time which could be fixed by changing the BIOS battery. Unfortunately, I get random crashes at startup now. The probability is about 20% and the variance is very high, meaning that it may occur several times in a row, or not at all for several days. Behaviour: Shows "Arch, clean, blablablah" and then goes to black instead of displaying first the series of [OK] and then the console login. Yes, there is no DM installed. With "goes to black" I mean that the display is on, but only shows black. NumLock and CapsLock are working (I can turn them on and off). The Wireless Button shows by blinking that it is connected. Ctrl+Alt+Delete will turn off Wireless but does not result in any changes on the screen. It doesn't reboot either. Caps and Num keep working after that.
I really don't want to reinstall the system, so I strongly hope that it's possible to fix it. FSCK does not help unfortunately.
Any ideas how I can figure out what's wrong?
    Cheers,
    Kalsan

  • QT 7.1.3 crash on startup with .avi's

Since upgrading to 7.1.3 QuickTime crashes on startup when playing certain .avi-files. Also Finder restarts when trying to view the thumbnail in the Finder column view mode. Part of the bug report as seen below. It seems to be a problem with FFMpeg - but a fresh download and install did not solve the problem.
Also when running AlchemyTV DVR with my TV-card my computer hangs completely. This did not happen before 7.1.3
    Ideas anyone?

What is this program you had to buy to make all this work? I would like to get it myself.
Thanks for your response. Please email it to me if you could at <[email protected]>
    Nic
I to have the same problem and I pretty well ******
cause I just bought a new ipod video 80gb and I
bought quicktime pro at the same time so I would have
a seamless conversion from avi to ipod.
The only answer I have found is that the latest
quicktime dosen't support the latest Divx. Apple
dosen't say that it just keeps directing me to the
    codec support page.
I've had to purchase further 3rd party software to be
able to convert Divx into QuickTime.
So basically I feel like I've blown my money on
QuickTime Pro because it dosn't do what I purchased
    it for.
My only problem now is who or how do I contact Apple
    to complain
