CRASH DURING INSTALLATION OF APPLICATION - UNABLE TO DELETE EITHER !!

Hi, I am presently very happy with iPhone 3G having upgraded from the original model yesterday...
I have one small problem, however, I have installed about a dozen or so applications from the the Apps store, about half using the iPhone and the other half from iTunes store on Mac.
Everything was fine, but one free application:- "Checkword" which I was installing on iPhone locked up during the "Loading: phase of installation and has sat doing nothing in spite of numerous re-sets of phone and connecting to iTunes.
I am unable to delete the App from the phone itself as this is not possible until installation is complete.
I am a little concerned as this means potentially "glitchy" software on Apps store or a bug within version 2.0 of iPhone software which allows partially installed software to "hang" and prevents subsequent deletion of "useless" icon.
I have even attempted to load the software via iTunes with the intention of over-writing onto phone, but iTunes indicates that I have already purchased the software and that I should "Check for purchases" from Store menu.
Performing this instruction produces "Unable to check for purchases. Unknown error occurred (-206).
This is only a small problem, but if this were to happen frequently iPhone users will have potentially dozens of unwanted half-installed apps left on their phones......
Any ideas Guys, Ian R

  • Ilife 08 crashes during installation

during installation, when the installer gets to iphoto '8 segment it just crashes. other softwares got updated (idvd and imovie '08). anyone with similar experience/solutions?

    isn:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It could be a damage installer disk. You can try the following:
1 - boot into Safe Mode and try installing there. If there is anything installed in your account that was the culprit it is not loaded in Safe Mode and the install should work. If the install fails at that point again I'd suspect the disk.
2 - a second confirmation of a bad disk would be to use Pacifist to locate, extract and install just iPhoto from the iLife disk. If it can't extract iPhoto then I'd bet it's the disk.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • My New Retina MacBook Pro crashes during installation and cannot turn back on?

My New Retina Display MacBook Pro suddenly just crash all of a sudden during installation, it happened when in a white background ther is a Lion image at the center and a progress bar at the bottom. The MacBook cannot be turned back on after this crash!!!! Does anyone has the same problem?
P.S. I had connected to a power cable during installation and didn't touch it at all during installation.

Similar problem here. Using the new Macbook Pro with Retina Display, happily for a week. Tonight it suddenly died, turned itself off, that is. I couldn't turn it back on now.... Very frustrating. Any solution except for bringing it back to the Apple store?

  • Help!10.4.9 crashed during installation

My g4 crashed during the last part of the update. I now have an incomplete installation that would not start up. I lost 10.4.8. I installed 10.4 on my second internal hard drive, so I coud run my mac. How do I get back to using my original drive without losing any info/settings?
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Lost 10.4.8

Hi! Same thing has happened to me. As my next step, I want to start using the installation disc, but the drawer to my optical drive won't open. Do you know how to get around that?
    Thank you for your consideration.
    PFW
That happened to me on my MacBook... I'll try giving
you directions, to the best of what I remember...
What I did is found my installation DVDs... (I
    thought I had lost them!)
Turn your computer on and put the first disc in.
...Restart it (improperly, if you have to). Before
you turn it back on, hold down on the "C" button...
it took me about 5 minutes before I saw anything
happen. Go through the buttons as if you were
    re-installing it...
At the end, there's a window you should see pop up
and it'll have a few things to check off... one of
them is reinstalling OSX without wiping out what
    you've put on the computer.
    Best of luck.

  • Crash during installation of MediaSou

The mediaSource hangs during installation. My computer runs on Windows XP SP platform with the latest updates from Microsoft. The motherboard is Asus P4S8X. I have a Asus 6 X DVD, a Plextor 402 CDRW, and a Asus 604 DVDRW. I have installed Nero and softwares like Clone DVD2 etc.
    The problem is:
During installation, the installer hangs when the progress indicator showed 3%. After stopping the installation, a windows pops up indicating problems with RPC. At this time, the icon of Creative MediaSource is present on the desktop. However, the software does not show up in the Add/Remove Program List (in control panel). In this way, I cannot remove the software cleanly. Is this a hardware or software problem?
Please help me to solve this problem.
Ian addition, are there any other softwares for conversion of music format?

  • Crash during installations

    Hi,
I am having a problem when installing some software. First time I had this problem was with the creative suite 6 by Adobe, Photoshop in particular. What happens is this: I try to install the whole bundle, at some point out of nowhere the whole system stops responding. I waited a couple of minutes in case it just froze or something, then i restart. When I tried again and again and always the same story, I noticed it always froze at the same point. In the end I installed the whole bundle exept Photoshop. That worked out fine, then I copied the files for Photoshop manually and somehow it works.
The same thing happend when I installed Mathematica 9, always at the same stage of the installation, no matter how often I try. This time copying didn't work. Neither Wolfram nor Adobe have anything in their support forum, so I guess it doesn't really have anything to do with the software itself.
I looked for similar questions in this forum, but I couldn't find anything helpful. Please help if you know how to solve this.
    Manuel

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Computer crashes during installation

    Hi,
I'm having trouble installing Itunes on my computer. I'm using Windows XP Pro sp2 and am completely up-to-date. Each time I try to install Itunes, my computer crashes near the end while the installation is registering. There's no error message and no warning, the computer simply shuts down and restarts. I saw a troubleshooting tip indicating that some antispyware programs can cause similar issues, but I don't have any antispyware on my computer. I do have Norton System works 2002. I even tried shutting down Norton's Anti-virus monitoring. No difference.
Any ideas on what could be causing the issue and how to resolve it.
    Thanks.
    Kurt

Hmmmm. Usually the SpyCatcher thing (which I think you've found the tip on) just hangs the install forever at the registering modules stages, rather than actually shutting the PC down.
Let's check to see if there is a "hidden" blue screen error message when the PC is shutting down.
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.
Now try another install. Do you get a blue screen with the shutdown this time? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
If the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (Exact spelling, please.)

I thought there might be an issue with my downloaded file and tried downloading the install file twice, but with the same result. I have also downloaded version 5 but am facing the same issues.

  • Crash during installation of 10.10- stuck in restart cycle

During 10.10 installation an error occured and it required a restart to continue the installation.  I restarted and once entering my password it continues to the next screen then lines of commands cover the screen and it auto restarts. How do I get passed this or revert back to previous OS without update?

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Windows 10 and Spotify install crashes during installation fix

Hi all! For those of you having issues with installing Spotify in Windows 10, here might be a easy fix for you. Dowload the primary installer from the Spotify Website, the file should be named "SpotifySetup.exe" (if you have downloaded the files several times it might be named "SpotifySetup(1).exe, where the 1 can be any number from 1 and up). Run the installer if has not automatically run, when it runs it downloads the full installtion of spotify to the folder"C:\Users\YOUR-USER-NAME\AppData\Roaming\Spotify - example: C:\Users\johndoe\AppData\Roaming\Spotify(YOUR-USER-NAME must be your user name in windows) If this is still confusing open up a file browser and in the address field enter %appdata% this will enter the correct path for your user, then just go into the Spotify folder. In this folder there should be a file "SpWebInst0.exe", right click the file and in the menu choose "Properties", select the tab "Compatibility"
Check the box: Run this program in compatibility mode for:and select "Windows 8".
Press the OK button and run the file "SpWebInst0.exe", this time it will hopefully not crash. See the pics included. Good luck! /Dave

hello...i can't even download the spotify after upgrading to windows 10 today... i get error52 (can't connect to the internet or some firewall thingy I don't get..) can't even get skype to work or any other application

  • Yoga 2 Tabblet 1051L - LTE driver for Windows 10 crashes during installation

After update to Windows 10 my LTE radio stopped working at all. I downloaded the driver from https://download.lenovo.com/consumer/mobiles/b2wd10mc01.exe (as well as all others designed for Windows 10) and updated the tablet, one by one. All drivers work ok, except the LTE one. It crashes with "ERROR: Pre-installation of '...\incdcpo8.inf'" Have you experienced the same or did it install on your tablet properly? Please let me know if it is a common issue or just particularly affects my tablet. Thanks in advance!

EN: This driver can't install at all. Reset your device to factory settings (Windows 10 still will be). Note that you loose all data and ability do rollback to Windows 8.1

  • Leopard DVD crashes during installation

I have Mac Pro with a pair of drives configured as RAID drives (working fine) running Leopard and another drive partitioned to provide a Mac partition and a Windows partition. Using Boot Camp to run XP (also working fine).
Problem is that Mac partition on the second drive will not and comes up with grey screen during boot process (10.4 is installed). I figured I should try and install Leopard but when I start off the Leopard DVD it crashes with a grey screen. The DVD checks out fine using Disk Utility.
    Help!

is the DVD the original install disk that came with the computer or a retail leopard disk? have you used it before with this computer?

  • HP 7410 Drivers just Quit/Crash During Installation

    Hi all,
I have an HP All in One 7410 printer which I am trying to install the drivers for on Windows 7 Ultimate, 64 bit. The issue is that during "Applying Updates" the program just closes, there is no error message or anything.
What is this causing this issue and how do I fix it?
    Any response is greatly appreciated!
    Regards,
    Eric

    Hey Eric,
I recommend running the HP Windows 7 Printer Install Utility to see if it is able to push through the error message. Let me know if this resolves the issue and if not we can continue from there.
    Thanks!
