Crash fatal error

Hi everyone,
I have created a new book yesterday and while assiging formats and numbers to various documents updated this book several times. Today, when adding the generated files and updating those Frame crashes and reports a fatal error. I have found out that it is cause by either my index or index of figures. Any ideas on how to fix this? The file is generated but cannot be updated. Crash report files are never to be found so I have stopped to look for them.

Well, you're actually SaveAs > MIF, but yes, this is a good idea. It's
certainly possible that one or more index markers are corrupt, which
would mean that you'd have to save all the component files as MIF,
which you can do pretty easily with a free MIFWash utility from
omsys, com -- install their eval version of MIF2Go and the utility is
installed and stays behind even if you don't buy their program.
It should be SOP, BTW, if you import content from most applications,
but especially Word.
Peter -- You'll get more ideas if you start with the basics: what
version FM (Help > About > p number), your operating environment (OS,
amount of RAM, etc.), whether you're using an index tool such as IXGen
or something similar....
Cheers,
Art

  • Tecra A9 - Power Saver crashes - fatal error has occured code: 0x2

    Hi,
today, when I switched on my computer the power saver began to crash.
I restarted the computer several times and the result always is - A fatal error has occured. This program will be terminated. code: 0x2.
This error pops out even when I try to reinstall the application.
May be this has something to do with the service pack 3 I installed couple a days ago.
    Anyone has an idea ?
    Martin Vassilev.

I saw this error long time ago with WXP. In my opinion it has nothing to do with SP3.
My experience says you will not be able to fix this. There is something wrong in registry entries and reinstallation will not help at all.
Only one method can help, the most radical one, new OS installation using recovery media.

  • Flash Crashes across all browsers and recent fatal errors

This problem has basicly been going on for years and my operating system has been resintalled a couple of times before but basicly the problem is that adobe flash player (and Microsoft Silverlight) would crash a browser (IE, Chrome, and Firefox) often. I have tried the fixes ive read about but they didnt seem to work so I just decided to put up with it until I began getting fatal errors. I had my hardware checked out and there are no problems with and all my drivers are up to date.
    Flash: 11.5.502.135
    Windows 7 (64-bit)
HD 5570 and HD 6870 (upgraded from one to the other but problem still occurs)
Like I said I usually try to put up with flash (and silverlight) crashing my browser but now they crash the browse so badly it forces a bugcheck (or blue screen of death). I have tried to reload my operating system, then updated my drivers, and then in clean boot mode I still get pretty nasty crashes. I think the problem is within one of my drivers but I cant pinpoint which driver is the culprit.

    DRIVER_VERIFIER_DETECTED_VIOLATION (c4)
A device driver attempting to corrupt the system has been caught.  This is
because the driver was specified in the registry as being suspect (by the
administrator) and the kernel has enabled substantial checking of this driver.
If the driver attempts to corrupt the system, bugchecks 0xC4, 0xC1 and 0xA will
be among the most commonly seen crashes.

Subject: Flash Player Flash Plug-in Crashes across all browsers despite
    re-install
I support a bunch of Mac users and one of them (10.5.7 MBP) ran into this same
problem last week with both Safari and Firefox crashing with the flash player
plugin. If I removed the Flash Player plugin and the .xpt file there was no
crashing but no flash either. I used a combination of different suggestions and
here's what finally worked (so far anyway):
Show package contents for Firefox/Contents/MacOS/components and Get Info
changing perms for read/write for everyone.
Re-installed shockwave plugin using the customized full install (this made no
sense to me since I had made no change to shockwave but as I was testing the
browsers I was prompted to install it, so I did)
    Repaired permissions
The version of the Flash Player plugin that ended up installed on this Mac is
10.0.12.36. I started off installing the newer and recommended 10.0.22.87
version but it didn't fix anything. I inadvertently went backwards as I moved
plugins in and out of the Library. I didn't want to change anything once it was
working so I left it at the older version. I hope this helps someone else.

  • Adobe Captivate 5.5 "Fatal Error" Crash Caused by "CS Live" in CS 5.5 Programs

This should be an official bug report. Forgive me if there is a more effective way to submit a bug.
Adobe Captivate 5.5 crashes with a "Fatal Error" when the user launches a CS 5.5 program while Captivate is running in the background. This only occurs when the user is signed into Creative Suite's "CS Live" in the Creative Suite programs.
This problem can be reproduced easily by launching Captivate and Illustrator side by side. Then the user must sign into CS Live through Illustrator. Captivate will crash with a fatal error every time. I have confirmed with Captivate running while launching Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, etc.
You can see a quick video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ayDDSN7rSY0
There is no solution to this bug. I have tried nearly everything, following the framework at Troubleshoot launch issues, problems | CS6, CS5.5, CS5
    • Clearing the cache / rebuilding the profile directory in User/AppData/Local/Adobe/Captivate 5.5.
    • Reset Windows fonts and deleted all Adobefnt*.lst files / rebuilds on program launch.
    • UAC is disabled, I have administrator rights, and the application is set to start in "Run this program as an administrator" for all users.
    • Switching graphics from Intel to Nvidia and back for all Adobe applications.
    • Disable activation on both Captivate and the Master Collection, then reregistering .
    • Deactivating/Uninstalling/Reinstalling the program entirely.
For now I will stay logged out of CS Live in my Master Collection programs.

    See
“Generic WebLogic Server Installer generates a Crash immediately after opening GUI on ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 Library (Doc ID 1570688.1)” which states that
“ This is an issue with AVX support appearing on newer hardware. Default glibc is incompatible with it. This problem happens due to a Red Hat Bug: Segmentation fault in dynamic loader on AVX enabled CPU “
    Solution:
    1. Set the following Environment Property on your active Shell.
      - open a bash terminal and type in:
    $ export LD_BIND_NOW=1
    2. Re-Run the installer as bellow example.
      $JAVA_HOME/bin ./java -jar wls1036_generic.jar

  • Photo downloader fatal error c 94 crash

why does pse 12 crash when downlading photos with fatal error c94 address 4fb7d2

Not sure what the error message is. Maybe a device conflict relating to camera or card reader.
Try copying the photos to a folder on your hard drive. Then use:
File >> Get Photos & Videos >> From Files & Folders

This notice is a courtesy: please fix this problem. It will become a fatal error in an upcoming update.
Does this make any sense to anybody?
What should I do? I have some JPGs in the text. Should I throw them out? The book already has about 250 pages. I'm about to migrate to Pages.
    Any ideas? Suggestions? Pity?

Do you have  other application and folder windows open or application minimised and not in use?  If so they are taking up memory and  its better to close anything and everything you do not really need available.
Its no good blaming iBooks Author for not saving your work, if you know your machine crashes, its a simple mattter to save every paragraph or so. Its also wise to save a copy on a separate storage drive.
.jpg and .png are OK to use - but remember they have to be an acceptable  size, full details in the Asset  guide  and  in Media in the help files.   1024 x 768 or 2048 x 1536 maximum.
Not sure if  the console report is saying the application as a problem or if the problem is due to the content in current use.
I suggect you  save everything in two places and using  "Appdelete" or similar, unintsall iBA check the library to ensure all entries are removed and shut your maching down. After too many  years  with Windows, I also remove the power plug so  everything  drains and after a minute re-boot and download iBA from the store.
You  lose nothing by doing so.

  • Can't access preferences, fatal error/crash

I've done a search and found a few other people with the same issue, but none of the suggestions have fixed the issue.
The main project will open and edit just fine... I can even publish, as long as I didn't want to change any settings.  Anytime I try to access project or quiz preferences, I get a fatal error.  It saves the file and closes.  I am also unable to start a new blank project.  I click on it and it doesn't do a thing.  Doesn't freeze, but doesn't open a new project.  =(
I've deleted the local cache, I've updated captivate... we even went as far as uninstall/reinstall, which makes me wonder what the problem could really be?
I'm using Captivate 6 on a WindowsXP machine at work.  Cache is being saved on a local C: drive.  HELP!

I don't know where to look for the preferences folder.  =(
I've accessed the appdata folder in my user profile and deleted the cache files, but that didn't solve my issues.  I can see the Captivate folder in program files, but there's no 'Preferences' folder here.
Is there something that I'm not trying?

  • Captivate 6 keeps on crashing giving fatal error

I am using Captivate 6 on Windows 7. All seemed well until i changed some preferences in Captivate. Now every time i try to record a new demonstration project or do recording in existing project, i get the fatal error message. I have
    Cleared the Cache Folder
Deleted the Captivate 6 folder in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Adobe
Still i am getting the same problem. The snapshot is attached

In the preferences i took the following path:
here i only changed the following:
    1. the caption from "transparent" to "Glass Blue" (text color changed from black to white, and text center aligned)
Next i took the following path:
Two atributes were changed for the Highlight Box: Fill color slected as orange and Fill percentage increased to 80%.
These are all the changes that i did.
The Cache path and captivate documents (plus the library assets: sounds + a small mp4 video) are all on my laptop.

  • Fatal Error has occured and the application is being terminated

It seems that Captivate is eating my projects.  I've started my second project (after completing my first without any errors) and I'm constintly getting corrupted files.  It set me back at least a few hours worth of work.  So I started creating backup files every 10mins, regardless of how much work i've done.  Everything was going fine, until I took an hour break and went to resume my work.
When I try to open my file I get the following pop up message when trying to open my file: "Adobe Captivate - A fatal error has occured and the application is being terminated. Adobe Captivate has tried to save all your work in the respective project folder as .cpbackup files.  Please restart Adobe Captivate."
I can click on the program workspace and not click ok on the error message to keep the file open.  I see my slides and objects, but all the text is missing.
I'm using Captivate 5.5 and windows 7 64.  Within Captivate, I'm using standard objects with importing MP3 audio files and some Photoshop images.  I have a total of 4 slides with 1 being 3.5mins long and the rest are less than 1min.
When I first started having this problem, I thought maybe the variable files were corrupte so I deleted the Users/name/appdata/local/adobe/Captivate5.5 directory to see if that was the issue.  That was before this last stint of errors.
I tried opening a backup that was like 10 saves ago, but it displays the same message.
I'm not sure what to do next.

Failed to back up the data. A fatal error has occured and the application is being terminated.

We have the exact same problem.Renaming the backup file per this post http://forums.adobe.com/message/4055726 didn't work. I can open the file and see the text boxes even though they're now showing as empty. Is there any way to recover the file?
Yes, we were using a network drive but now we've switched to locally stored content.
