Crash message question

I imported a 34:33 video clip I ripped using Handbrake from a user made DVD. The video seems to import correctly into Premiere CS5. When I drag the clip into the source box Premiere crashes after giving this error message: [/Scully64/shared/adobe/MediaCore/ASL/Foundation/Make/Mac/../../Src/Timecode.cpp-1077] Is this a settings issue? Any ideas?

The mp4 I am tryiing to import and use in Premiere plays fine on Quicktime. It's a 35 minute video and evidently it's too big to fit on my dropbox account.
Wouldn't an invalid timecode or framerate in the source video cause an error and not play in Quicktime? Charles won't be looking into it until Tuesday so anyone else please feel free to help out. Input is appreciated as I am on a deadline.
I used handbrake to rip the DVD and save as an mp4. There are some framerate settings I can change. I used variable framerate (as opposed to constant framerate) and set it "same as source" (which I believe is 29.97 NTSC). I am now converting the video with "constant framerate" checked.

Despite having up to date Firefox and Flash plugin, I still get a crash message. What can I do?

I am trying to use SiteFusion to build a website. When I go to upload a PSD file I get a "Flash plugin has crashed" message and the ability to select the PSD file and upload it stops. I have checked and I am on the most up to date version of Firefox and Flash plugin running Mac OS 10.6.8 on an Intel Core 2 Duo.

Without knowing what settings you are currently using, its impossible to say what has gone wrong.

I am running Windows7 Home Premium. I can play You Tube videos fine on IE and Chrome but on Firefox all I get is a blank black box. The You Tube site opens OK, just won't play anything. My firefox crashes withou displaying a crash message, freezes and does not respond majority of the time. what is wrong and what do i do?

When i start Firefox it either
1) crashes, no crash message displayed. just closes as if nothing happened.
2) freezes, doesn't respond to anything and i have to "kill" it with task manager because if it froze and i try to click elsewhere like to show desktop or on another task it freezes the entire computer. It freezes in 3 ways:
1) is when i just opened it and it freezes immediately
2) when i click on it, or start typing some address into the bar
3) when i press enter after I've typed the URL in the address bar.
my Firefox doesn't have any add-ons, or anything else. i already re-installed it 2 times, cleared cache, history, reset all settings. still crashes

Try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps.

Why does itunes 11.2 give crash message every time I close it ?

Upgraded to latest version of iTunes 11.2 It works fine, but every time I close the program, I get an iTunes has Crashed message shortly after.

Keep getting hardisk crash messages at startup

keep getting hardisk crash messages when i startup. have run software programs which do not seem to indicate problems once I have logged in

At present, system seems to be loading and running programs OK after Enter gets to Windows login. Using System Diagnostics (F2) route starts Hard Disk checks but they never seem to finish (bogus ?)
Not sure if I have a real problem or not as the diagnostic programs that I have installed/run seem to indicate no problem

It will not install your machine is close to 7 years old and the newest Flash Player will not install on that old of an Operating System.
If you have flash on there already then thats probably the best your going to get.
You can Google and see what is the latest version for your Operating System.

Mozilla Firefox crashes at startup without any crash message or error whatsoever.

Today, when I double-clicked the Mozilla Firefox icon, the window popped up for one second and then the next instant moment it suddenly disappeared. I cannot access Firefox, not even in Safe Mode, Compatibility Mode, Run As Administrator or any other modes.
Tried re-installation, did not work. I do not get any crash message, it simply quits by itself. Firefox.exe appears in the Task Manager when I double-click it in Windows Explorer, and it disappears when the window disappears, the next instant moment.
I have Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. Never encountered this sort of problem before.
There is no crash report, the crash window does not pop up, thus no crash report is generated. I cannot access the Troubleshooting Information, as I cannot operate from inside Firefox.

There is no Crash Report, because no Mozilla Crash Reporter pops up. The only file I have there is an old Crash Report, from several months ago. I already said this in the Original Post. Y U No Read?

Hard Drive Crash/Multiple Questions re: iPod

iBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.6)
My iBook crashed last week and I've been trying to put the pieces back together after re-installing all the software.
I have a Maxtor External Hard Drive, however something is messed up and so most photos in iPhoto are now only in thumbnail format and my video clips are gone. (See posts in iPhoto discussion group.) I have the photos on my 30G video iPod. I also have some video clips on the iPod that I had copied to iTunes and "converted to iPod."
My music fortunately was saved in the Maxtor External Hard Drive, so my iTunes library appears to be back to normal except for the loss of playlists. Same with the video clips in the iTunes Movie file.
I have a couple questions that I have not found answers to in this discussion group:
1. I'm not sure if my photos in the iPod were thumbnails or full resolution. Which is the default option? Would I have had to choose this option? I only vaguely recall this. How would I find out?
2. It sounds like my iPod is not going to recognize my computer as my own. Is this true? Does this automatically happen when re-installing the software? Or does it have to do with the user name on the account? I inadvertently gave the computer user account a different name when I re-installed. (Before it was my husband's name and now it is a combination of mine and his.)
Before my troubles began, I had the iPod enabled for disk use and it would automatically open iTunes when plugged in and automatically sync music, photos, contacts, and notes.
I, too, am afraid of what will happen when I hook up my iPod to my computer. I need to know the best course of action so that I don't lose the photos I have. I'd like to be able to transfer them to the computer if possible but also keep them on the iPod, and to be able to sync my music to the iPod as I make changes to my music library.

You have to choose the option to copy full resolution copies. If your iPod is enabled for disk use as you've said below then when you click on the iPod icon on your desktop you see a sub folder for your full resolution copies in the Photo folder

Because you erased your iTunes library when you reinstalled OS X the iPod now sees a different one when it connects. Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs and photos etc. from your iPod.

You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on a Mac hold down the Option and Command (⌥ and ⌘ Apple) keys. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and it will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. You should then be able to change your settings: iTunes Keyboard Shortcuts for OSX

There are various programs out there for recovering photos from an iPod, have a look at the ones below. iPodCopy will also transfer songs and playlists, if you search the internet you can find more:

Nokia N80 move messages question

I was toying with my message settings a bit, and I found the option to change the location where messages are stored. I changed it to my memory card, but as I was doing that, I decided it might be best not to do that in case I switch memory cards or whatever. At that very moment I was presented with the question 'Do you want to move your messages to the memory card?' or something like that. As I wanted to restore the settings, I selected 'no'. However, I remembered one thing: all bluetooth messages were stored in the phone memory (iirc), which means I cannot receive big files on my 2GB card. As I'd probably not change memorycards anyway, it suddenly seemed a good idea to have my messages stored on the memorycard. However, when I select my memorycard now, I am not presented with that question anymore :/ The only thing it does is set the message storing folder to my sd-card, but not only that, it also only reads from that location. I cannot read any messages from my phone memory, and after switching back to the phone memory, I figured out I could not manually move them either. Does anyone know a solution to this problem? I'm using the 3.0617.0.6 firmware.

I think you'll only get this option once.
One way is, change the mem to SD card then connect the phone to your PC and it *should* move everything over for you.
Does for me when the phone crashes, forgets the mem card and I have messages in both locations!

Post-Crash Recovery Question

After a system crash, everything has been scrambled. I'm now trying to
rebuild it. I'm still on PSE 4.0, so perhaps my setup is too primitive for

It does appear that I have been able to salvage most of the Tag and Collection
structures of the Catalog from an older backup, but there are a lot of
pictures still missing.
So my question is: If I do a "GET" of a folder of pictures, (I have many such folders) is there some feature (or some way), within
Photoshop, to prevent it from accepting another copy of the same exact photo that it already has in its database"? (My presumption is that there will be some pictures in that folder that have already been put into the Organizer, and some that have not -- I only want the ones that are not already in there.) If there were just a few pictures, I could handle this manually. But I have many hundreds, if not thousands.

PSE has duplicate detection feature. While you import the photos if these are alredy there in database, these won't be reimported and the same would be prompted by a message.

Maxtor Crash - DiskWarrior Question

Hey Everyone,
I'm currently stuck in data recovery **** with a Maxtor OneTouch III Turbo drive (external firewire 1TB.)
On Saturday I found that I couldn't get the drive to mount. Physically, the drive is fine - it powers up, spins, and the front light blinks as normal. It seems, though, that the directory has been corrupted. I tried fixing it via Disk Utility, but it can't do anything due to "invalid node structure."
After doing some research, I purchased a copy of DiskWarrior in the hopes of rebuilding the directory. This task has been under way since yesterday afternoon (approximately 5 PM.) My question is - does anyone know how long this process will take? I'm sure that it will take a looooong time to rebuild the directory for a 1TB drive - but does anyone know how long?
I don't mind letting it work, but I'd like to be sure that something really is happening. Sometimes when I look at Activity Monitor, it gives me a red message: "Disk Warrior (Not Responding)" but then other times, it will turn black and the (Not Responding) will disappear - so I'm assuming that it is doing its job?
Anyone have advice on this? Thanks!

One thing I've experienced and beginning to learn, no repair is 100% full-proof. Sometimes it is more like a chance to get up and running and backup, but ever since a crash/freeze (testing something unstable) I've had odd problems here and there, nothing specific, even after running DW and TTPro. Finally decided time to reformat and restore from an older system copy I keep safe but ready to use.
Same thing happened when I had memory errors 18 months ago. DW kept finding small minor errors. Bit the bullet and did a fresh install and was fine after that. So much for ECC and catching parity errors. Files were "okay" but the content? maybe not. Something was amiss there too.
If you want another disk tool, probably *Intech Speedtools* to test media (which can map out bad blocks though I never found any) and Integrity to test I/O on any drive, along with its Defrag and Bench tools. What I don't like about their program, it is hard-coded to use Safari rather than default web browsers (OmniWeb).
