make sure that you have applied all the latest Microsoft Updates.
There is a possibility that firmware on the laptop needs to be updated.

  • CC Desktop app crashes mid-installation

    Hey,
I work in a post-production facility, and every time we need to install an update for CC, at least half of our machines experience problems with the CC Desktop App - most of the issues have to do with softwares not showing up as installed (even though they are), and hitting "install" again on those machines, removes user preferences. The bigger issue is when the Desktop App wont launch at all, or it launches but then crashes after a few seconds, with restart being the only way to bring it back.
Needless to say these issues are problematic, but since the internet is flooded with complains I assume you're already aware of them.
The bigger problem is this time around, one of the machines that had the Desktop App crash, didn't launch the app back after restart.
I tried following the recommended instructions, removed the app with the CC Cleaner tool, changed the OOBE folder name to OOBE.old, restarted the machine again and downloaded the newest version of CC installer from the Adobe website.
When trying to reinstall, the installer reaches the "Installing" phase and crashes (more like "disappears"), without giving any form of error massage.
I should note that the machine is a mac pro (running OS X 10.9), and that before running the reinstall I checked that no processes related to adobe were running and manually made sure the CC desktop app was completely removed. I also tried installing from different users but am getting the same results.
Have you seen this issue before? Is there something else I didn't try?
Or alternatively, can I somehow download offline installers for the latest update? Having access to offline installers would make our update process way easier, both on us and on our bandwidth (having to log in to different machines and download the same updates over and over again isn't the greatest way, especially while the desktop app is so unpredictable and still has major issues).
    Thanks!
    Michael

For people who might be having the same issue - I ended up half-solving this by copying over and replacing the entire CC Desktop App folder (under Applications > Utilities) from another machine that was working fine.
Now the Desktop Application is actually able to launch, but for some reason After Effects is stuck at 76% updating, giving an error message that AE needs to be closed before continuing. Thing is that AE is definitely not running - I made sure of that using both activity monitor and via the command line, and also tried restarting the machine, but am still getting the same error.
I than tried quitting the CC Desktop app and launching AE (which was obviously not updated), than chose "updates" from inside AE. It launched the old adobe application manager (the machine also has CS5 installed), and installed the updates from there, where everything seem to install fine with no problems.

  • My New Retina MacBook Pro crashes during installation and cannot turn back on?

My New Retina Display MacBook Pro suddenly just crash all of a sudden during installation, it happened when in a white background ther is a Lion image at the center and a progress bar at the bottom. The MacBook cannot be turned back on after this crash!!!! Does anyone has the same problem?
P.S. I had connected to a power cable during installation and didn't touch it at all during installation.

Similar problem here. Using the new Macbook Pro with Retina Display, happily for a week. Tonight it suddenly died, turned itself off, that is. I couldn't turn it back on now.... Very frustrating. Any solution except for bringing it back to the Apple store?

  • Corrupted/crashing Apple Installer

The default Installer application (the one the system uses to install updates to the OS, iTunes, etc.) seems to be corrupted on my system. Any attempt to install any Apple update of any sort results in a crash. I've done the usual like repair disk/permissions, prebindings, etc.
My question is: Is there any way to just reinstall this application and cure the problem, or am I going to need to wipe and reinstall OS X to fix it?
    Thanks!

    Try these:
    1. Create a new admin user account, log into it, and see if the problem persists. If not, the original account has corrupt/conflicts, usually within the preferences files, and you'll have to resolve the conflict. If so, then it's system-wide.
    2. If the latter, then boot with your install disk and do an Archive & Install installation, saving user and network settings.
    Report back with the results.

  • Crashing - New Installation InDesign CS 6 fully patched

I've just installed Adobe CS 6 Web and Design Premium on a Macbook Pro running Mac OS X 10.7.5.
This computer uses Extensis Universal Type Server client 3.3.0.
Immediately following the installation and patching, InDesign crashes following launch when any tool is choosen.
    It's consistent and reproducible.
I've removed InDesign preferences, ensured that there are no problems with the Mac (Disk Repair, Disk Permissions, etc.),
    applied the icon issue patch.
At this point I'm thinking about uninstalling altogether and reinstalling the CS6 suite.
Any help would be appreciated.  This is one install out of about 20 with similar configurations.
There rest of the installations went smoothly.
Side note - Adobe , please don't tell me hold time will be 5-8 minutes when it's over 30.

To isolate if this is Universal type Server issue, you'd have to drag the autoactivation plugin out of the Plug-ins folder. On mac this would be on the following location: /Applications/Adobe InDesign CS6/Plug-ins/Text/. Quit InDesign. Navigate to the location mentioned earlier and drag the auto activation plug-in from there to desktop. Re-launch InDesign and test for crash. You can also use the Extensions Manager to Find the auto activation plugin by choosing InDesign from the left panel of Extensions Manager and then look for the autoactivation plugin on the right panel. Upon finding the autoactivation plugin select it and click Remove.

  • Photoshop CS3 crashing and installation getting 'stuck'

Last week Photoshop CS3 started crashing when trying to select a new file to open.
This didn't seem related to any particulr file and appeared to be random.
Error message was "an unrecoverable problem has occurred, Photoshop will now quit"
Actully it didn't quit and had to be force quit.
This was happenning sporadically, but today it happened every time I tried to open any image file.
Thinking it was a good idea to re-install, I tried that but the installation got 'stuck' and couldn't be completed.
A few minutes into the installation, prompts appeared asking for the CS4 Flash disk [which we bought seperately]
and then asked for the CS3 Application disk again. That disk was put in the drive and a minute or so later it asks for the CS3 Application disk.
Which is the disk it already has...
Has anyone else had this odd situation and found a solution?
    Any thoughts appreciated!

Try resetting your preferences as described in the FAQ.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/375776?tstart=0
You either have to physically delete (or rename) the preference files or, if using the Alt, Ctrl, and Shift method, be sure that you get a confirmation dialog.
This resets all settings in Photoshop to factory defaults.
A complete uninstall/re-install will not affect the preferences and a corrupt file there may be causing the problem.

  • Ilife 08 crashes during installation

during installation, when the installer gets to iphoto '8 segment it just crashes. other softwares got updated (idvd and imovie '08). anyone with similar experience/solutions?

    isn:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. It could be a damage installer disk. You can try the following:
1 - boot into Safe Mode and try installing there. If there is anything installed in your account that was the culprit it is not loaded in Safe Mode and the install should work. If the install fails at that point again I'd suspect the disk.
2 - a second confirmation of a bad disk would be to use Pacifist to locate, extract and install just iPhoto from the iLife disk. If it can't extract iPhoto then I'd bet it's the disk.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Do these Console logs explain why QB2015 crashes upon installation?

I purchased Quickbooks 2015 in early November. Every time I installed it, it crashed before I could register it. I downloaded more than one DMG. I spent hours with QB support. Nothing has worked. It finally occurred to me that I have a backup 17" MacBook Pro (early 2009 and my main computer is a 17" early 2011) and both  has Yosemite OS.  When I installed it on the early 2009 MacBook Pro,  the installation went fine and the program was up and running immediately. Now I knew the problem was with my computer. On my main Macbook Pro, I logged in as guest and Quickbooks crashed was soon as it was installed. This proves the problem is in the system files not in my user files.
The console messages in the 2009 computer and different from the messages in the early 2011. It seems to be related to excessive wakes. I have listed the three sets of console messages below. My question is: can anyone look at these and know how to interpret them so I know what to repair/do with my early 2011 so the program runs. I did a reinstall last week, but it did not help.
Log from early 2009 when it installed with no problem

    Thanks for your suggestions.

TimeHorse, I too have had this problem but I've had it before iTunes 7.7.1.11. I was just now trying to copy some new music to my iPhone and it was taking about 1-3 minutes per song. Don't even get me started into how long the backup took.
One thing I happened to notice was Windows Defender was running a scan at the same time. When I closed it, magically iTunes synching sped up drastically (3 - 4 seconds per song). This doesn't make much sense to me since my iTunes library is on a network drive, but maybe iTunes is using some swap space or temporary files or something on the local hard disk which is slowing performance due to other HD activity. You might check your disk IO when iTunes is synching, could be a bottle neck...
    Anyway, just a thought

  • Crashed SoaSuite installation: Cannot re-install it in the same directory

At first I tried to install SoaSuite in a certain directory of my WinXP OS e.g. in
    D:\soasuite\v10
Unfortunately it crashed before finishing . After reboot I deleted in WinEplorer all stuff which was stored in the directory and tried to re-install it from scratch.
But when I specified this (above) directory again, then the SoaSuite setup.exe told me:
"This directory already contains an ORACLE_HOME. Please select other directory".
Hmm the directory is empty. So it seems that there are still some references in registry resp. Inventory.
How exactly can I wipe all references to this old, crashed installation so that I can install SoaSuite again in this directory?
Where are these references? In Registry? Or somewhere else (Inventory)?
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
Once you run the Oracle Universal Installer, it shows the existing Oracle homes and products installed(click on "Installed Products"). You may remove the unrequired Oracle Home entry, directly from there itself. (Check the "Show Empty Homes" option to see the empty homes in the system)

  • Computer crashes during installation

    Hi,
I'm having trouble installing Itunes on my computer. I'm using Windows XP Pro sp2 and am completely up-to-date. Each time I try to install Itunes, my computer crashes near the end while the installation is registering. There's no error message and no warning, the computer simply shuts down and restarts. I saw a troubleshooting tip indicating that some antispyware programs can cause similar issues, but I don't have any antispyware on my computer. I do have Norton System works 2002. I even tried shutting down Norton's Anti-virus monitoring. No difference.
Any ideas on what could be causing the issue and how to resolve it.
    Thanks.
    Kurt

Hmmmm. Usually the SpyCatcher thing (which I think you've found the tip on) just hangs the install forever at the registering modules stages, rather than actually shutting the PC down.
Let's check to see if there is a "hidden" blue screen error message when the PC is shutting down.
    1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
    2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
    3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
    4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.
Now try another install. Do you get a blue screen with the shutdown this time? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
If the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (Exact spelling, please.)

  • Desktop Software 6 crashes during installation - Help

Well, I finally got myself a BB Pear 3G. I've been trying since morning to very unsuccessfully install the desktop software 6 so that i could synchronise my contacts etc. Unfortunately, the install keeps crashing.
I'm using a Win XP Professional on Dell Latitude. The following are the things that happen when the self extractor is started:
    The extaction passes through beautifully
The setup ask for language, and english (US) is selected
Then it goes to the screen where additionall items need to be installed and shows
On clicking install I find the following the following screen and then the installation ends
I thought there might be an issue with my downloaded file and tried downloading the install file twice, but with the same result. I have also downloaded version 5 but am facing the same issues.
Would appreciate help and any ideas on what is happening.
    Thanks

  • Crash during installations

    Hi,
I am having a problem when installing some software. First time I had this problem was with the creative suite 6 by Adobe, Photoshop in particular. What happens is this: I try to install the whole bundle, at some point out of nowhere the whole system stops responding. I waited a couple of minutes in case it just froze or something, then i restart. When I tried again and again and always the same story, I noticed it always froze at the same point. In the end I installed the whole bundle exept Photoshop. That worked out fine, then I copied the files for Photoshop manually and somehow it works.
The same thing happend when I installed Mathematica 9, always at the same stage of the installation, no matter how often I try. This time copying didn't work. Neither Wolfram nor Adobe have anything in their support forum, so I guess it doesn't really have anything to do with the software itself.
I looked for similar questions in this forum, but I couldn't find anything helpful. Please help if you know how to solve this.
    Manuel

If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes) in the search box. Note the timestamps of those log messages, which refer to the times when the system was booted. Now clear the search box and scroll back in the log to the last boot time after  you had the problem. Select the messages logged before the boot, while the system was unresponsive or was failing to shut down. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V). Please include the BOOT_TIME message at the end of the log extract.
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
    Step 2
Still in Console, look under System Diagnostic Reports for crash or panic logs, and post the entire contents of the most recent one, if any. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if present (it may not be.) Please don’t post shutdownStall, spin, or hang logs — they're very long and not helpful.

  • Help!10.4.9 crashed during installation

My g4 crashed during the last part of the update. I now have an incomplete installation that would not start up. I lost 10.4.8. I installed 10.4 on my second internal hard drive, so I coud run my mac. How do I get back to using my original drive without losing any info/settings?
    G4   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Lost 10.4.8

Hi! Same thing has happened to me. As my next step, I want to start using the installation disc, but the drawer to my optical drive won't open. Do you know how to get around that?
    Thank you for your consideration.
    PFW
That happened to me on my MacBook... I'll try giving
you directions, to the best of what I remember...
What I did is found my installation DVDs... (I
    thought I had lost them!)
Turn your computer on and put the first disc in.
...Restart it (improperly, if you have to). Before
you turn it back on, hold down on the "C" button...
it took me about 5 minutes before I saw anything
happen. Go through the buttons as if you were
    re-installing it...
At the end, there's a window you should see pop up
and it'll have a few things to check off... one of
them is reinstalling OSX without wiping out what
    you've put on the computer.
    Best of luck.

  • Windows 10 and Spotify install crashes during installation fix

Hi all! For those of you having issues with installing Spotify in Windows 10, here might be a easy fix for you. Dowload the primary installer from the Spotify Website, the file should be named "SpotifySetup.exe" (if you have downloaded the files several times it might be named "SpotifySetup(1).exe, where the 1 can be any number from 1 and up). Run the installer if has not automatically run, when it runs it downloads the full installtion of spotify to the folder"C:\Users\YOUR-USER-NAME\AppData\Roaming\Spotify - example: C:\Users\johndoe\AppData\Roaming\Spotify(YOUR-USER-NAME must be your user name in windows) If this is still confusing open up a file browser and in the address field enter %appdata% this will enter the correct path for your user, then just go into the Spotify folder. In this folder there should be a file "SpWebInst0.exe", right click the file and in the menu choose "Properties", select the tab "Compatibility"
Check the box: Run this program in compatibility mode for:and select "Windows 8".
Press the OK button and run the file "SpWebInst0.exe", this time it will hopefully not crash. See the pics included. Good luck! /Dave
