Crash only with ESPN3 ("watchespn") live game COMMERCIALS

Hello.
I have had no problems with this for years until 3 weeks ago after getting the Flash player 11 update. Ever since then, video from all sites and sources run fine with the exception of espn3.com. During live college football games, the live game video is just fine - great, actually. If they go to break and put up a generic slate such as "in commercial break",.....it continues to be fine. But if a commercial video (Sprint wireless comes to mind as an example) - the video freezes after a few seconds, then the browser window freezes, then the entire system freezes and I can't do anything. By the time I restart everything, I have missed half the game. Videos from any other site have no problems. I am hoping someone can help. If this is a known bug with flash player 11 from a few weeks ago - then will rolling back to 10 fix the problem and if so - how would I do that?

Sorry to hear your problem. I realized that I saw another person calimed about ESPN watching and sounded like recently started so there must be something behind. This might be Flash Player 11 issue or this might be ESPN (or comercial provider) started something new and causing trouble. I don't know well. But you can try downgrading Flash Player and see how it look for a while. Please see our FAQ to uninstall current version and install older Flash Player.

Compressor crashes only with markers...

I've already found a workaround for this issue but I would love to figure out why compressor crashes whenever I try to compress a file with chapter markers. Here's what's happening: I export my DV sequence as a self-contained .mov w/o markers and then use compressor to compress to mpeg-2 to be sent to DVD SP. Everything is fine EXCEPT I have no markers when I go into DVD SP...ok. If I export the same sequence w/markers, when I submit to compressor, the compression process fails every time. So now I have to bring the self-contained .mov w markers into DVD SP, drop it into the timeline, so the markers are set on the timeline, then delete the audio and video from the timeline, so that I can drop the properly compressed mpeg-2 files on the timeline. It works, it's a few more steps, but it's a "workaround" and they sit like a thorn in my side. Any thoughts?

No, you must move your ~/.mozilla file. Your ~/.mozilla file is hidden, but that won't stop you. From a terminal, do what Shining recommended:
mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla.bak
This is renaming (with the mv or move command) /home/yourusername/.mozilla to /home/yourusername/.mozilla.bak
That way, when you start Mozilla Firefox, your configuration files (in ~/.mozilla) will be missing, so Firefox will create new ones.
I think moving profiles.ini is also alright, since that file contains the profile name. So moving it should effectively disable the current profile and start with a fresh one, which is always a good thing to check (not only with mozilla apps btw ).
And restoring it should enable it back.
I think I still prefer working on the ~/.mozilla level as I indeed suggested, but I suppose it's just a matter of preference.

HELP! Lightroom Crashes Only with Adjustment Brush and only when using HDMI output!

This is very frustrating. I use my Acer N56V laptop to teach Lightroom workshops. I use a 32 inch television as a display. When I have my laptop attached with an HDMI cable and try to use Lightroom's adjustment brush, it crashes. Either the screen and computer just shuts down or I get the Blue Screen of Death. I can do anything else! I can edit in Photoshop, do anything else in Lightroom or even Silver EFX Pro. I can even click on the adjustment brush. But the minute the brush hits the photo (and not before), the computer crashes. If I don't have it attached to the HDMI or if I use a Serial cable, no issues. It's only the adjustment brush and only the HDMI output.
I called Adobe and they said it was because my onboard video card was primary and not the Nvidia. I called Acer and they said it's auto detect. I also tried making the Nvidia card primary and it still happened. Any ideas???

You have switched the overlay mask to always show. Fortunately, it's easy fixed i.e. tap the O key. Shift+O will cycle the overlay through various colours

Premiere Pro CC 8.2 Crashes only with multicamera sequences

After reading all complaints about Crashing, I have to say that I'm very pleased with This version performance, The blue icons Look great.
The software crashes when Multicamera sequences are set to render, and choosing H264 Blu-ray or Quick Time Gopro, in others like Blu-ray MPG2 there is not problem
However I prefer the two codecs with trouble. Also FOUND A WORK AROUND, Is creating the Multicamera sequence, erasing it and using the resulting see in Time line sequence,
and then making the cuts manually, That way it does not crash

I too have problems with audio on CS6.05, I wanted to route my audio thru my digi003 interface, but no avail., tried it on my Presonus light pipe, nada. I have a matrox mojito max and tried to download using it;s vetura capture software, still dropouts. I then went to cineform.com and downloaded the free Cineform Decoder Codec under the downloads file and used it, No more dropouts as of date when using this codec. Its listed as Gopro Cineform 4k/3D/HD codec.

Sound from front speakers only with X-Fi in Game mo

Hope someone can help me with this. I just installed the latest x-fi drivers for my xtreme gamer on a fresh install of xp and now in when in Game mode I don't get any sound from the rear speakers. When I switch to entertainment mode I get sound from all my speakers. I have a 4. setup and have checked that this is selected in both the creative audio console and the windows control panel.
Is this a problem with the new drivers? Has anyone else got this problem or knows how to fix it's

Bootcamp Windows 7 crashes only with upgrade RAM

I'm having a bit of an issue with my IMac, 27" 3.2 GHZ 1333MHZ 4 GB RAM.
Bootcamp is working fine with Windows 7 64 bit.
I decided to add 2x4 GB of 1333MHZ Apple RAM.
I've tried two brands now, Corsair and Mushkin.
Both make Windows 7 give me the blue screen of death, claiming memory issues.
If I remove the newly added RAM, problem goes away.
Now here is the strange part, OSX boots up just fine, and shows 12 GB of RAM, everything works.
Its just bootcamp rejects the memory.
Anyone else had this issue?

It seems like Windows doesn't like your Ram.
This wouldn't be a bootcamp issue if it is blue screening under a windows environment.

System preferences crashes only with accounts

ceated a new account now it crashes when I try to change the account in system preferences. I can't manage them... please help!!

Backup your data to a external drive and disconnect.
Look in your user/Library/Preference folder for a file called
systempreferences.plist
and drag it to your desktop and reboot.
You'll have to set the preferences for it again.
Also run all the cleaning and maintainence aspects of the free OnyX and reboot.

STOP SHOWING LOCAL COMMERCIALS WHEN LIVE GAME ACTION IS AIRING!!!!

Last night watching the game on NFL network Verizon inserted local commercials twice DURING LIVE GAME ACTION!! !This also happened during the summer watching baseball games on ESPN. I don't beleive this is an accident with such an advanced system. I am paying to watch these games in total. Not hacked up by these commercials.

No idea about your issue with the artifacts, but safe mode disables all drivers except ones needed for system operation. That does include graphics drivers.

I can't broadcast with the built in iSight webcam... how would I zoom in or zoom out? or how would I pan? I've seem people doing it walking with their laptops but that's not an option for me... there's nothing wrong with my USB ports but that's neither an option to stream video because as far as I know through USB you can't connect video in apple operating systems ..you can for sure plug any video cam or photo camera through usb but as a drive to transfer data not as a live video camera... is by firewire an old interface developed by apple that you can connect all sorts of cameras to apple computers... unfortunately my new sony HDR-AX2000 camcorder doesn't have firewire output...

My LR 5 is in a state of partial crash, many hundreds of photos I have recently processed having somehow been deleted. How can I talk with an actual live adobe expert person to find out if this is salvageable?

Suddenly today, in the process of going through a large backlog of images from the last month of wildlife photography, using Develop, and deleting large numbers along the way, I noticed that hundreds of images from the last week of my work have at some pointat some point in the last hour or two today, while I have been working on them, simply disappeared from from the Catalog's "All Photographs" and from the individual day by day photo folders in the Catalog. I also noticed when trying to figure this out that simply clicking the black flag bar after selecting an image as a prelude to clicking "Delete Rejected Photos" or even just clicking only the white flag, causes the selected image to disappear from all photographs and from the image folder for that day!! My last LR backup was a weeklyJune 16, but in the last week I have done several solid days of work processing these images. (Whatever happened does not appear to have deleted the raw images from my hard drive, all of which are backed up when I finished work last night.) Is there any way I can talk directly with an adobe live expert person to see if there is any way to salvage the processed images that appear to have disappeared from the LR system?

You generally won't get staff here but you will get help from people with a vast knowledge of Lightroom inside and out.
If what you says happens when you use the flag filter, is it reproduceable and does Ctrl/Cmd-z undo the removal.
Tell us your OS, Lightroom version and where the image files are stored.
You can always try the Help Chat but I think you will be better off here.

I posted this on another thread. See if this works:
1) Uncheck "Backup previous version" in Keynote's Preferences.
2) Make a duplicate copy of your file that has issues and save it.
3) If you still get spinning wheels from switching between apps after editing or 10 seconds of inactivity, manually save with command+s. It may beach ball here but be patient and wait for it to finish! Try editing and resume doing work now.
Command+s may be a bit slow but I think that might be normal since the files are so big.

Yes, it looks like they've screwed up. Some people have been able to update CC to LR6, some people get half way through the download and it fails, some people (me included don't get any option to upgrade to LR6 in the CC app... It's all very annoying. I tried the help chat, and I got "log out of the CC and try again in 2-3 hours". Well, that was half an hour ago, but I'm not holding my breath for getting LR6 today.

TCP works only with IP right?

TCP works only with IP right? Then if I want to communicate with a devise that does not have an IP (my television) I cannot use TCP right?

Why would I post without being 100% correct:
Just trying to point out at a high level that if you use something else to move the TCP then you'll eventually have to implement the functionality that IP gives you.
To those that insist that you HAVE to use IP to move TCP, the answer to that is NO! That's like saying that IP has to use Ethernet. You don't. All IP provides is addressing and routing.

The port is in the TCP layer. Sorry, wasn't thinking there. Actually what I was thinking about is how more expensive NICs can decide if it should look past the IP header of a packet. By being able to ignore IP addresses it is not assigned it can save CPU time. Checking to see if it should listen to a port would be cool too, but that would take too much. A machine will only have a few IP addresses (at least one in the class A,B,C range, maybe a multicast address, at least one broadcast address) which wouldn't take much to store in the NIC. Listening to 1000s of ports is not unheard of.
For the author:
I'd design your chat program with two basic interfaces in mind. There will be guaranteed delivery and best effort. TCP gives you a grantee that either the packet gets to the receiving station or the sender gets an error. That's great until you want to talk Bluetooth.
Bluetooth, IR, and Serial comms are all basically the same in the WinTel world. You talk to them over a COMM port. Here you have no guarantee of delivery. Thus in the old days of downloading you had to use a protocol like ZModem to transmit files and make sure you got them all.
You'll need to implement you own guarantee of delivery for these. Basically look into what TCP provides and implement something similar with Java. Checksum, sequence number, and acks.
When you implement your chat, part of your own "network stack" would decide if it needed to transmit service guarantee information with the data at the application level or not. There is no point in incurring the overhead if TCP is being used.
UDP may work, but I don't trust it past a LAN. Some UDP packets will always be dropped by a router. One example is broadcast packets. I doubt any admins will let a broadcast come into their router. Also, because viruses propagate by broadcasting, a lot of admins may limit them to the subnet of the host. UPD is real good for streaming audio. Something when if you lose a packet you don�t want to recover it. If you�re listening to a game on the radio and there is a lightning strike. Would you rather hear the pop and still be in sync with the broadcast or do you want to fall a second or two behind �live� coverage? I think that UPD packets are more readily dropped by a congested router. That's working on the theory that "If the application doesn't care about the packet really getting there (it would have used TCP) then why should I when I'm too busy."
