Crash report submitted without being realized

I was checking and reading my mail. One of the mail, I think it is a spam mail having link to some porn site without my knowledge. Out of curiosity to know what are they, I clicked one of the link and it open the web site in FireFox and it clashed. The FireFox Crash Reporter popped up and asked me to submit the bug report with all the options checked. Without actually reading and understanding the message on the FireFox Crash Reporter, I just simply clicked the button to force the FireFox to restart in the hope that it won't send the bug reports.
Indeed, FireFox didn't send the bug report because my connection was dropped at the same time. Two week later which was on 22-August-2010, I tried check the bug reports that I have in the FireFox by typing the about:crashes in the location bar and the bug report listed on the page. I thought that this bug report has been submitted because it is listed under the Submitted Crash Report heading. In fact, later I found out that this bug report is still pending for submission. Prior to knowing that, I have clicked on it and this crash report is sent without my knowledge.
It is never my intention to submit this bug report. This bug report has potentially personal identifying information such as the IP and the URL that cause the FireFox to crash.
Is it possible to have the IP and the URL information to be erased from bug server because t is not my intention to send it and I never intend to visit the porn site and it is out of my curiosity to check out what it is?
Thanks

You can also fully disable Mozilla Crash Reporter as described here:
http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad#Mozilla_Crash_Reporter
You'll need to reapply the edits to application.ini after any update.
Because there is no unique identifier to the browser installation on your computer, crash reports on the Mozilla server are fairly anonymous.
You can delete records of your submitted crash reports:
* Hit the Start button, type in '''%APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports\submitted'''
* Delete all undesired files contained in that folder.

  • Keep getting Firefox crash msg. Crash reports submitted for 2 days

For 2 days I have been unable to access Firefox. I keep getting a popup stating Firefox had a problem and crashed. A crash report has been sent via the popup about 4 times. No crash ID has been given, just a msg that the report was submitted.

Can you use the original email address where the crash reports are supposed to be sent to report the abuse?
My point was that if you had access to the original messages claiming to come from you, you could do something about it by sending copies to an anti-spam or anti-abuse organization. If someone sends messages to someone else claiming to come from you, you do not have access to those messages.

  • Why does my Firefox crash reporter hang?

Please help as Firefox is my preferred browser followed by Opera and Chrome in that order
Frequent Firefox crashes are disruptive of my workflow which is very web-dependent
    STEPWISE:
    1. I have frequent crashes
    2. The Crash Reporter comes up
    3. Submit report is enabled
    4. I select QUIT or RESTART - a rotating symbol shows the reporter is trying to do something BUT NOTHING HAPPENS
    5. I close the Reporter window
    6. I try to run Firefox again: That brings up the reporter panel again.
    7. THE ONLY WAY I CAN OPEN FIREFOX AGAIN IS TO REBOOT MY COMPUTER.
    8. I switch to OPERA browser to access Mozilla support
    9. I follow instructioins:
If you can't open Firefox because it crashes at startup even in Safe Mode:
    Go to ~/.mozilla/firefox/Crash Reports/submitted.
    10. That brings up a long list of "Reports submitted" all with the following format and all sized 50B containing ZERO INFORMATION
    bp-06def14b-da8b-450e-8157-7ae252141029.txt plain text document 50 B 29/10/2014 21:33:34
    11. Before posting this question I tried to "Automatically add" troubleshooting information - which only brought up the dysfunctioning trouble shooter again!
    12. The link to "try these manual steps" brought up a fresh "Ask a Question" window - presumably because it attempted to open in Firefox instead of OPERA which I'm using to log this this report since I'll have to reboot before being able to use Firefox again.
    SYSTEM INFO:
OS: Ubuntu 14.04 - fully updated
Mozilla Firefox 33.0 (Info via Terminal since Firefox is stalled)
Plugins: Zotero, AdBlock Plus, Print edit, Download Helper (from memory since FF is stalled)
I use Thunderbird 31.2.0 for email - Firefox DOES NOT bring Thunderbird down with it when both are running
BUT Thunderbird also crashes unexpectedly but not nearly as often as Firefox

Is it possible to start Firefox in Safe Mode, I do understand that the frequent crashes are disrupting and after a crash that Firefox will not open, you need to restart the computer.
In about:config are there any changed about:config entries related to the crash report: browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash
However in the meantime I will see what I can find.

  • Since the last upgrade, FF no longer runs on my laptop! I get the crash report box but it never restarts upon pressing that option. I can't try the safe mode or the other self-help options because no FF browser window opens.

FF worked fine before I accepted the latest update just a few days ago. My friend who lives far away said that she also has problems since the upgrade. When I click on the thumbnail to open FF no window opens, all I see is the crash report. Without the window I can't try the self-helps or give a crash ID (from what I understand from reading the options). None of the options in the crash report restore the browser. When I click on one, the box just pops right back up.
Other than general slowness of my system and some possible hacking which got someone into my paypal account this week, I've had no other computer issues. (I've changed my email address with PP & changed my email passwords in case someone is accessing my machine through my email...I'm not very computer literate...I don't believe this can happen, yet no other options were presented).
Because my friend also experienced this crash issue I think this is totally related to the upgrade & what ever it did to my computer such that FF no longer loads.
Please give me steps to fix this issue without FF running--all the self-help techniques seem to assume that I can run FF, get a browser window, utilize the links therein. I can't get a window open at all!

    YAY!! I have Safe mode!!
    um, now what?

  • For 2 wks get a crash report when I quit photoshop.  report sent whynothing fixed?

for 2 weeks get a crash report everytime i quit photoshop.  crash report submitted everytime with details on when this happens yet nothing has been fixed.
what is purpose of sending crash reports if they are ignored and problem continues?

    yet nothing has been fixed.
Did you expect Adobe employees would come fix your computer?
    Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated?
As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/onyx.html
Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)
If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.
Does turning off OpenGL in the Performance Preferences and restarting Photoshop have any bearing on the issue?
what is purpose of sending crash reports if they are ignored and problem continues?
I suppose it helps Adobe keep track of the amount and nature of issues encountered by the users.
These might then be addressed in a future update if the problem lies with the respective Adobe application (and it is not too complex) or if the problems lie with the OS or drivers the producers of those will hopefully be made aware of their bugs.
And unless you provided your email-address Adobe employees would have little chance of getting back to you if it is a known and amendable problem.

  • Firefox closes in regular and safe mode on startup AND does not submit a crash report.

Here's what I know. Every time I open Windows (looks like Windows 7 SP, 64 bit) and open Firefox (15.0.1), my browser closes within a few seconds. Sometimes, it seems this is precipitated by navigating to a new page, but I can't say that for sure. After closing, I can re-open it and run it just fine. However, as it does this every time on the first load, it is really annoying.
I have tried putting it in safe mode, but that makes no difference. I have scanned for viruses and malware. After removing the 1 thing I found, I still continue to have this problem. There are no crash reports submitted when this happens. Thoughts?

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that works.

  • Firefox does not send a crash report.

    Mac OS 10.6.3 Firefox 3.6.7
Firefox does not send an error report after it crashes. It crashes consistently when accessing certain pages when Shockwave Flash 10.1 r53 10.1.53.64 is enabled, but never sends a crash report.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I noticed the problem in early July 2010 after upgrading Shockwave.

    More information:
Firefox produces a crash file, but does not send it.
There are 19 July 2010 reports in /Users/me/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/ including 5 from today.
A plist file was created or modified at the same time that the as the last crash report. It contains OS and Firefox versions.
The directory /Users/tvd/Library/Application Support/Firefox/Crash Reports/pending is empty. The permission are 700. I am the owner.
The last report submitted was Mar 4, 2010:
    tail -1 /Users/me/Library/Application\ Support/Firefox/Crash\ Reports/submit.log
[Thu Mar 4 22:03:14 2010] Crash report submitted successfully

Error message: "Warning: unresponsive script". Afterward, the system freezes and will then crash. Crash reports have been submitted many, many times without response. I have tried the fore-mentioned solutions with either no results or very bad results which I filed a report but did not receive an answer. The application to block scripts actually worsened the problem and I could not correct the situation for a while (no response from Firefox, at all). I have also been through this procedure without any one contacting me, AT ALL.
== URL of affected sites ==
    http://http://www.facebook.com (always) and www.YouTube.com (sometimes)

There does appear to be any support whatsoever from mighty "non caring" FIREFOX & people are getting fed up. We may as well try another system, if they can't be bothered to provide any support for their system, we can't be bothered to use their system.

  • Firefox crashes without a crash report being generated

I am unable to use firefox because it will only stay open for approx 2-10 seconds. I tried to collect the crash report as per the instructions on your help pages but the crash report directory in library is empty as it just fils without any error handling. There does not seem to be any pattern. The crash still happens in safe mode, after a reset, after removing the user profiles totally, after total uninstall of firefox and all extensions and re-install from scratch. This issue only started after upgrading to the v33 of firefox and not before.

    Product:  Adobe Photoshop CC
    Application running on:
    Apple iMac 3.5GHz late 2013 / Mavericks 10.9.2
Application crashes without warning.  Symptom:  Drop down boxes go blank white  (I shot screen captures of blank drop down boxes) and application stops working, actions for appox. 10 minutes preceding crash are lost. Force Quit  required to quit unresponsive / frozen  application and then Restart of  Adobe Photoshop CC
Crash Frequency:  Three time in this work day, 5.6.14  Once a day sporadically (approximately 10 times) in past two weeks.
Other applications running at time of crashes:  Adobe Bridge - NOT effected.  Computer was on line with no browsers open.
Otherwise computer continued to operate normally.
I have been using Adobe Photoshop CC for approximately two months.

    Thanks, Chris,
I hope that this is the solution.
re:  "And a crash report without an actual crash report (a long, detailed text document available from the crash report dialog), is not all that useful" :
I did in deed submit a homemade crash report.
I would have submitted "an actual Crash Report "  and sooner, but:  When this event occurs. there are NO dialog boxes.  All frozen / blank.  No possibility of "actual crash report" !
    Thank you!

  • Getting firefox crash report confirmation emails but there not being sent by me!

i think someone is submitting crash reports to mozilla using my email address cause i keep getting these emails.

    Your Firefox crashed.
    We're so sorry.
    Dear Firefox user,
Recently, your Firefox crashed and we're really sorry about that. We'll use the crash report and comments that you sent to try to make sure it doesn't happen again. Until then, here are a couple of things you can do to prevent further crashes:
    1. If you're not already using the latest version of Firefox, please download and install it now from mozilla.org.
    2. Please check out this support article, which explains how to troubleshoot the cause of a crash and how to get help fixing it.
    Thanks, Mozilla Firefox
P.S. This message was sent by one of our friendly Mozilla email bots. Please don't try to reply — they're terrible at receiving email. Instead, you can give feedback directly to our Firefox developers (real people) at our Input site.

    Question
I am not able to launch FF everytime i try to open it, it says FF has to submit a crash report, and restore yr tabs. I even tried doing that and the report was submitted too, but still FF did not start, and the problem still persists, please help me solve this issue
    '''(in English)'''

    Hi Danny,
Per my understanding that you can't get the expect result by using the expression "=Count(Fields!TICKET_STATUS.Value=4) " to count the the TICKET_STATUS which value is 4, the result will returns the count of all the TICKET_STATUS values(206)
    but not 180, right?
I have tested on my local environment and can reproduce the issue, the issue caused by you are using the count() function in the incorrect way, please modify the expression as below and have a test:
    =COUNT(IIF(Fields!TICKET_STATUS.Value=4 ,1,Nothing))
    or
    =SUM(IIF(Fields!TICKET_STATUS=4,1,0))
If you still have any problem, please feel free to ask.

  • Why does Firefox continually close itself without warning, but reopen prior tabs, without an error message or crash report?

For the past couple weeks Firefox has been randomly closing itself, without warning. I will be on another program on my laptop and Firefox will shut down. But, when I reopen it, all my tabs will restore as if nothing happened, and there is rarely a recovery error alert. I also do not receive crash reports for this phenomenon. Everything about the browser seems to be working fine as usual otherwise.

I'm sorry but I think you didn't get the problem right. Firefox just unexpectedly closes. It does not crash. There are no crash reports.

  • Flash 10/11 hangs in Firefox 5/6 with embedded Youtube videos on Windows 7 x64 without crash-report.

    Hello everybody,
At first I report my problem to bugzilla of firefox on this URL: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=673272 .
I hope people from this Forum can help me.
My Firefox (5.0.1 or 6.0 b2) with Flash (10.3.181.34 or 11.0.1.60) hangs when I enter to webpage with embedded videos or direct on YouTube, faster hangs is on webpage with embedded YT videos.
When FF is hangs I can kill "plugin-container.exe *32" and see screen like this: http://prntscr.com/2e1yo with new upper bar "The Adobe Flash plugin has crashed. Learn More... Reload page x" but WITHOUT "Send crash report". "Submit crash reports" is enable in FF by default.
I turn HW acceleration off, testing new FF profile, new windows user profile, safe mode of FF, the newest both softare FF 6.0b2 and Flash11 for Windows 7 64bit = without effect, FF still hangs on my HP Compaq 6510b laptop.
    Best Regards

  • Firefox crashes every night without a crash report (Since last 3-6 months) Currently using version 23.0.1, Fresh Install, Fresh Profile, No Addons

Every night Firefox crashes without any crash report.
All I get is the Windows dialog that says "Firefox has stopped working" "A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program." "Close the program". (If I can upload the screenshot I will).
The websites I was on are intranet only sites, require NO Flash or Java. Two tabs only. The same sites were not crashing in much older versions, appx 6+ months ago.
The only criteria for crashes seems to be the uptime of Firefox. The longer I leave it, the greater the chances of this crash. I have never seen it crash in front of my eyes, always (90%) would have crashed when I unlock the PC in the morning. I leave it running and locked the whole night.
Just a couple of days ago I decided to do a complete clean install of Firefox, i.e.:
Uninstall, Delete Program Files, Delete Profile folder. Reinstall, import bookmarks. That's it.
    Hardware Acceleration has been disabled.
    Provide Telemetry has been enabled.
Crash Reporter is enabled, but doesn't kick in. about:crashes is empty. (Even before re-install there were no recent crashes recorded there).
