Crash when loading file upgraded from pages 3.03 to 4.0

after loading a 3.03 file in pages 4.0 (demo version), deleting a few styles, modifying a few others, creating a table of contents, moving paragraphs around in structure mode, then saving the file, it causes pages 4.0 to crash when attempting to load it : segmentation fault.
Report have been sent to apple but I'm in despair because this 125 pages file is crucial to me : I didn't keep the original. It contains an academic report I must finalize tomorrow.
Any help much welcome, I can send the file

Try creating a new user and opening it in that, just in case it is a something other than Pages causing the problem.
Also try force opening the file with a text editor to get at the contents, you may be able to rescue something. A slim hope but worth trying.
Also try getting at the parts of the file by going into Finder and right mouse clicking on the file and go +Show Package Contents+. Inside the package, if there is one, will be a Quicklook folder and inside that Preview.pdf.
You can open the Preview.pdf in Preview and possibly copy material from that into another document to rescue it.
You have learnt a painful lesson. If the material is vital keep the backup, especially as you were only working with the demo version of Pages 09.

  • Ipad 3/iphone 4s crashing when loading purchased apps from app store

Every since OS 6 my ipad 3 and iphone 4s crash when trying to load purchased apps from the app store. This has never been addressed by Apple other than them saying 'they are aware of the issue'.
After trying every conceivable suggestion from this board, nothing works. I don't think Apple will ever fix this since so few are affected.
Just wondering if anyone ever found a way to get this to work.

Can you download the games in iTunes on your computer?
Do you have any restrictions set up in Settings/General/Restrictions that prevent you from installing apps or certain apps?

The term, movie files, covers a lot of territory. What format? Open in Quick Time, hit Command–I and post a screenshot.
My files are stored on an OWC external hard drive.
    Project and Events?
If I drag a file to my computers hard drive, the applications starts up fine. SMH.
Drag what kind of a file? Projects need to be opened from within FCP.

  • App Store crashes when trying to upgrade from Snow Leopard to Yosemite

I'm running Snow Leopard v. 10.6.8. I've installed Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1 so that the App Store appears. I am now attempting to upgrade to Yosemite but every time I click "Get" in the App Store, I get the spinner of doom and App Store ends up not responding so I have to force quit. I've submitted the crash report to Apple. Here's a link to a Gist with the crash report.
A possibly related issue is that every time I put something in the trash and try to empty it, somehow there are lots of new files created and it takes a very long time to empty. In order to isolate this issue, I put one single item (a PNG) into the trash, and when I emptied it I saw the message "Deleting 4 items". When I put 2 PNG files, it said "deleting 5 items" and so on. When attempting to delete an application file (or files) it appears to create thousands of files before deleting and takes a very long time to empty the trash. I have turned on "show hidden files" using the relevant terminal command, and so I can see that there are no hidden files at the time that I attempt to empty the trash.
    Any help much appreciated!

Try resetting the App Store and Clearing Cookies.

Here is the solution for anyone else having similar issue:
Go to your Finder: Your User Account>Library>Internet Plug Ins folder. If you see JavaPluginCocoa there, move it to the trash, then restart Safari.
If there is no such plugin in that folder, reinstall the Java update using this download. In the event Safari is stable only for a short time preventing you from downloading the file again, first, go to Safari Preferences>Security and uncheck the Java option. Then try the download. After the install, restart Safari, go back to the Security Panel and select Java again.

  • Firefox on Linux crashes when loading java script web page while running on Windows works fine

    Hello all,
well in my effort in writting php I frequently use phpanywhere.com
The site loads successfully in both Windows and Linux setup (fully up-dated). However, when I press on .php file so to begin editing the Linux installed Firefox crashes and closes down every time (also when using different preference under JacaScript menu). Windows setup seems to have no problem at all.
This has been checked in three different PC with Ubuntu Maveric installed on them. In all these cases Firefox crashes.
Any possible ideas on that one?

I have the same problem. I've never been able to identify when it started. Once firefox crashes, mpd, if it was playing, becomes unresponsive. The only way to get a flash site working again is to reboot my computer.
I uninstalled flash: I'm not going to put up with that kind of behaviour. Now I watch youtube videos on other people's computers --you know how they say "You've GOT to see this movie!". And if I really need to see that one specific video, there's youtube-dl.
Unfortunately gnash doesn't work on youtube for me.

  • FM12: Crashes when opening files and numbering pages

My FM12 is running on a VM with Windows 7 and 6Gb of Memory - it's a pretty large book, 750+ pages. When I get more than 700 files open, it crashes. Then it will crash while numbering.
What should be a straight forward publishing of the book is taking two days due to crashes. I have to save the files after I open a batch and apply numbering or I lose the entire book.
Also, when I select a few files in a folder, FM opens the entire folder of files which is really weird.
    It's version 12.0.2.89

    Reboot solves it.  Duh.

i presume this is the Mac site??
PS CS 4 crashes all of the time for no apparent reason and i have no clue where to start to fix this problem.
I would like to know if I'm just lucky or other people have had this problem too and how they fixed it. i already downloaded and installed something relating to the graphics card issue.
also, i'd like to hear from someone that has had this problem and found a fix for it because with the amount of crashing PS CS 4 does, it is less than useless to me as it is now.
    Thank you,

  • HT4061 My iPad 2 crashed when I was upgrading from 7.02 to 7.04.  I have tried to reset the iPad several times, but it does not come back.  It gets stuck with a screen that shows iTunes in the middle with a graphic showing the adapter cord with an arrow

What do I do now to restore without looking all my data, photos and settings?

Did you do a backup before you did the iOS update. You should always do this in case of problems. Otherwise your data/files my be lost.

  • Safari keeps crashing when loading large data on web pages

I have owned my iPad 3 for more than a year now and I have never encountered this problem but ever since I have updated to the latest iOS version(7.1.1), my safari keeps crashing on my community site where threads have maybe over a 100 comments in them.
Now whenever I open a thread page on Safari, it loads for a few seconds then crashes, to make things worse for me is one in a while when it crashes, it reboots my iPad. I have seen several similar questions asked by other people regarding safari crashing when loading large amounts of data and got help saying that there's something wrong with the CSS. or something but I never got any idea on how to resolve this bug.
Can anyone tell me how do I prevent my Safari from crashing everytime I open a thread? Any solutions? Because I am getting really ******.
(Ps: I have already tried other browsing apps such as Google Search and Chrome, they still crash. I even tried letting it load half-way and then stopping it but it isn't going well.)

I have restored my iOS devices a number of times in order to resolve issues and it has gone very smoothly every time. I am not going to lie, it takes a fair amount of time to backup, restore the iOS and then restore from the backup, but it could very well resolve the issue.
On the other hand, it may not help at all. Restoring the software is a standard troubleshooting measure And that is why it is recommended when other suggestions aren't working. But before you restore, there are a couple of other things that you could try,
Reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings. You will not lose any data when you do this, but it does take some time to enter all of the device settings again, so be aware of that.
Another thing to try is to erase the device and start over. This is different than restoring to factory settings. Reads rhis for more information.

The crash reports indicates the crashes may be caused by a file named mcbrwctl.dll, that file is part of McAfee Site Advisor. Try disabling the McAfee Site Advisor to see if that stops the crashes.
To do that, in the Tools menu select Add-ons to open the add-ons manager. Select the Extensions panel, then in the list of extensions select McAfee Site Advisor then click on the Disable button. Re-start Firefox to complete the process.
For info McAfee Site Advisor has caused various problems with Firefox for quite a few people.

  • Firefox crashes when loading some pages I have looked at plug-ins and themes as the problem but I do not have any of the ones that are listed as causing problems.

Recently I downloaded some up grades for my computer and now FireFox crashes when I try to change pages on web sites. It crashes in financial sites, my earthlink email account and a business web site I manage.

Thank you for the replies.  Everyone was correct about the jack, interface, and phasing problems.  I have been unplugging my motu audio interface and then using headphones at work.  I have not changed any detailed audio output settings in logic.  When I read that the jack might be a problem I tried switching headphones.  This actually helped.  I am using dre-beats headphones and they seem to be having issues with the mac/jack-(the phasing/panning problems.  I can use these headphones with other devices but not the mac.  I have to use ipod ear buds and the phasing seems fixed.  Hopefully this information is helpful to someone else.
If anyone knows how to correct this issue please let me know its difficult to know what my final mixes are going to sound like and I have had to keep bouncing everything into i-tunes- sync to ipod and then listen in my car radio.
