Crash when updating site cache? MM_Username1?
Hi,
All of a sudden, tonight, DW8.0.2 will no longer open or load
one of my
sites, crashing when "Updating Site Cache". The site is ASP
linked to an SQL
database.
Checking the file that the cache gets to, I notice that the
problem file is
within a sub-directory of the site, called "/admin". Thing is
though, it's
not always the same file, but it IS always a file within the
/admin
sub-directory.
Within this sub-directory I altered, by hand, the Login User
code and
Restrict Access to Page code to create and use the session
variable
MM_Username1 as opposed to the default MM_Username.
Could this be the reason for the sudden trouble with the site
cache? I am
puzzled because the site was working fine for a few weeks
now, with this
sub-directory included, and I didn't create the MM_Username1
issue today
either, it has also been working fine for a good few weeks
now. I've also
not added anything new to the site, that I am aware of.
When I remove the sub-directory from the site, the Updating
Site Cache works
fine, so I am 100% sure there is a problem with the files
within this
sub-directory. How will I know which one though?
I've tried this, as recommended by Adobe, but I still get a
freeze-up when
re-creating the cache:
1. Try renaming the Dreamweaver user configuration folder, so
that
Dreamweaver will automatically generate a new user
configuration folder the
next time Dreamweaver launches. The Configuration folder is
located here:
C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application
Data\Macromedia\Dreamweaver
8\Configuration
2. Recreate your Dreamweaver user settings in the registry as
follows:
Launch the Registry Editor by clicking the Start button,
choose Run, then
type "regedit". In the Registry Editor, navigate to this
folder:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Dreamweaver 8
Rename the "Dreamweaver 8" key to "DreamweaverOLD", so that
Dreamweaver will
automatically generate a new user settings key the next time
you launch it.
3. Recreate your Dreamweaver site definitions in the registry
as follows.
The steps below will delete your site definitions in
Dreamweaver.
4. Launch the Registry Editor by clicking the Start button,
choose Run, then
type "regedit". In the Registry Editor, navigate to this
folder:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Macromedia\Common\8\Sites
Rename the "Sites" key to "SitesOLD", so that Dreamweaver
will automatically
generate a new Sites key the next time you launch it.
Any further advice?
Regards
nath.
Found it! Jeesh.
I had a querystring value in my UPDATE redirect URL which was
coded
incorrectly!!!
I am frustrated that, rather than just highlighting the error
or, at the
very least, producing an error when opening the specific
file, this type of
thing crashed the entire DW programme.
The time I spent in Notepad today changing MM_Username1 back
to
MM_Username!! Turns out that was nothing to do with it.
<groan> Yeah,
that's right, laugh it up! :o)
Anyway, solved now. A misplaced ", %, ), (, <, >, &
etc can cause you no
end of grief! :o(
Nath.

Dreamweaver CC 2014 crashes when updating site cache
Hi everyone,
I'm using Dreamweaver CC 2014 on the Mavericks operating system for mac. Dreamweaver attempts to update a site cache for one of my sites but then it pauses for a few minutes and then crashes. I thought it could have been a corrupted cache file so I deleted the MacFileCache-********.dat file inside the Dreamweaver configuration folder but this didn't work. I tested again and I got the same result.
I just wondered if anyone has had this problem or whether there's a workaround?
Appreciate any advice.I do have one workaround that worked for MOST of my folders. It is NOT the best option--but it helped me get a little more of my website recognized. (This is working on a mac with the latest version of Mavericks. Who knows WHAT Yosemite will do!)
I dragged my biggest folders out of the larger 'site' folder and on to the desktop. I ignored them and just began with the dreamweaver site manager--creating my site by pointing to the first few folders that had been listed under 'site'. Then, I added the folders on the desktop a few at a time. It worked until I got to a larger, complicated folder...then it froze again. I worked on this all day-- and I'm done for now. But I'm not giving up. With Adobe, there is always a good outcome. Sometimes, it just takes a little longer.
If I get all the kinks out, I'll let you know. Meantime, the more people who ask the question, perhaps the more likely it is to get a little help.
THANKS. -
Crash when update Dreamweaver 8 to 8.0.1 and 8.0.2 in MAC
Crash when update Dreamweaver 8 to 8.0.1 and 8.0.2 in MAC
PowerMac G5 Quad with Mac OS 10.4.7You mean the people that that just 'send report to apple' and get on with it I presume? Like me most of the time. Well, as we all know, there are so many variables. The fact is, as far as I'm concerned right now is that Logic 8.0.1 needs some serious work. I can for sure say that I have noticed a snappier response as far as the graphics go. But as for overall performance, it needs an update. I'm trying not to be negative toward your positive thread however, do a search on overloads and, well, they will unfortunately outweigh this thread for sure. It does make me wonder mind how the price of a pro app like Logic tumbled when apple released the Logic studio box. It's £100 cheaper than Cubase 4. It just makes me think garage band ultimate edition right now.

Indesign crashes when updating incopy content
I'm having a lot of bother with (Mac) Indesign CS6 crashing when updating Incopy content. The problem first appeared after upgrading from CS4 to CS6 on OSX 10.6.8.
I've since upgraded to Mountain Lion (10.8.2) and the problem still persists (with fully updated InDesign 8.01 and Incopy).
Incopy is Windows version if that has any bearing on the issue.
The crash occurs when opening an Indesign document with Incopy content that has been edited. I can open the document if I choose not to update content, but ID will subsequently crash if I choose to manually update the content from the assignments dialog. This doesn't happen with all my documents - perhaps about 1 in 4 with Incopy assignments.
I can place the ICML files in a new Indesign document without incedent. In other words the ICML files don't appear to be corrupt.
Suggestions anyone?
IanI got another crash. This time just on trying to launch inDesign.
Below is the report. If anyone can help it would be very appreciated.

Indesign crashes when updating incopy assignments!
Hi,
I've read through some forums and it appears others are having this problem.
When I open indesign and it says do you want to update links (referring to the incopy assignements) that need updated.
I click ok, and Indesign crashes!!!!
One thing I read could be the issue....
- anchored objects, (incopy can't handle all the anchored objects)
That is RIDICULOUS if that is the issue. If so, Adobe should have had a disclaimer....don't buy incopy if you plan on having more than text in your document.
There are no error messages that come up, the program just crashes. I'm using Indesign CS5 version 7.
A solution I read was to save the indesign file that keeps crashing when updating the assignments as an .idml file.
I tried this and it appeared to work, but what a joke!
This is very unreliable and has caused a lot of stress.
Anyone else have any solutions or can ADOBE come up with a solution???
ThanksFirst question is are you fully patched to 7.0.4? If not, download and install that patch.
Second: Do you have Suitcase Fusion 3 installed? If so, try disabling the autoactivation plugin.

Itouch crashed when updating ios6 and now won't restore
My itouch crashed when updating to ios6 and now won't restore! Getting an error code (14). Any ideas?
Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
Try a different USB 30-pin dock-connector cable.
Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. Your default packet size being set incorrectly can cause this error. Contact the manufacturer of the software that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft: How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows.
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.

Vista crashing when updating to ver 8.1!
I knew that Vista was crashing when itunes updated to ver 8.0. somehow i overcame that 'little' problem. now, while updating to, ver 8.1, the same thing is happening again. this is really irritating. does anybody have a solution for this? im using vista SP1.
Not sure, but have you tried downloading the standalone updater from the Apple Support site, rather than doing it via the Software Update menu?
http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1571
As regards slow boot, sometimes re-selecting the startup disk helps:
System Preferences>Startup Disk, select Macintosh HD, Mac OS X 10.8.x and click on restart. -
In Design is regularly crashing when updating an article
I'm getting frequent In Design crashes when I update the article, seems to be when it is converting some images judging by the procress bar. but I tried removing all graphics and it still crashed. Not sure where to start looking, the page has quite a lot of MSO all with several actions. Could this be the cause?
thanks, I narrowed down one cause of the crash, I have interactive elements on a seperate layers to help organise things better, if you update while a layer is invisible it almost always crashes for me ( possibly because some actions are referencing hidden layers) but it crashed a few times when all layers where visible, if it does it again I'll try your tips.. its crashing at "writting png" stage

IWeb 2.02 still crashing when updating
I tried a while ago to update to iWeb 2 and it would crash whilst updating, i had a hellish time trying to restore the old iWeb and the domain file, luckily this time i backed them up so reverting was easy, but the problem still exists that the new iWeb 2.02 gets to about 3/4 complete when updating then crashes.
Hi I just know that is not the problem, for starters this problem happened before with the original iweb 2 and i did all that stuff that time, plus i have had no problems installing, all other programmes work fine, indeed iweb 2 works fine if i i remove the domain file and act as if i am starting from scratch.
the problem is in the process of updating the domain file, maybe so incompatibility exists, even though i did not mess too much with the template pages i used. -
Computer crashes when updating to 6.0
I just got a new ipod and had to upgrade to 6.0, but when I try to install it my computer crashes. I make it through much of the installing process until I get to this "Finish" stage, and my computer always crashes when the installer says "Removing Applications". I have disabled all of my firewall protections and have done virus and spyware scans and it still is not working. Also, when I try to uninstall my old itunes, it is not even in the Control Panel's Add/Remove Programs list; however, the itunes icon is still on the desktop.
I would greatly appreciate any help anyone might have.
Thanks.hmmmm. i haven't seen many 0x8Es showing up under these circumstances. so we're in general-principles-troubleshooting mode here.
the virus and spyware scans were a good first step. if your security software provider(s) offer them, try supplementing that with an online scan. (this can pick up infections that disable the installed software on the PC.)
the MS article cited in the Windows STOP reference i gave you earlier suggests that this can sometimes be caused by device drivers. so let's make sure all your drivers are up to date. (let's make sure that in particular your video drivers and any wireless card drivers are up to date.)
Updating the drivers on your Windows PC
... but let's also capture a minidump of the crash and send it to the Discussions Hosts, so they can throw it over the fence for an Apple Engineer to analyze.
To set up your machine to capture a minidump, right click on "My Computer", select "Properties", select the "Advanced" tab, select the "Startup and Recovery" Settings button, select "small memory dump" from the popup. When it crashes, look for the MiniDump file. It's usually in the folder "C:\WINDOWS\Minidump" and is called something like Mini<number>-<number>.dmp.
And then send it to a Discussions Host. It doesn't hurt to put the URL to this discussion thread, so that whoever gets it has some context. Also give as much information about the context of the crash (in the email) as you can.

494 com.apple.iPhotoI posted this on another thread, but it appears the workaround should work in your case also. Try this...
From Finder, hold down the option key on your keyboard and click on the Go menu at the top of the screen
Select Library from the drop down menu
Then navigate to Application Support > iLifeAssetManagement > assets
Right click on the 'sub' folder and choose Compress
Drag the resulting zip file to your Desktop (as a backup)
Go to your System Preferences and choose iCloud
Turn OFF the iCloud Photos option
Go back to Library > Application Support and DELETE the iLifeAssetManagement folder
Now, in System Preferences, turn the iCloud Photos option ON
iPhoto should now be able to launch. Give it enough time to re-download your Photo Stream content. Unzip the sub folder on your desktop and drag that into iPhoto if you are missing any of your My Photo Stream photos (more than 30 days old). -
Dreamweaver CS 5.5 crashes when saving Site settings.
Hey,
I'm working on a PHP website. I had it set up to test on a server. When I went to change the Site settings (I wanted to make a new version), Dreamweaver crashed when I saved the new settings. After that, Dreamweaver does not open unless I delete the Configuration file (a solution I found online). Also, any time I restart my computer Dreamweaver does the same thing – crashes on opening. The only thing that was saved that first time it seems is that Dreamweaver removed my server username and password, so I can no longer test the site that was working. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks,

IPod crash when updating w/ iphoto
Ok guys - old problem, new version:
I am synching my fifth gen iPod. I successfully update eveything right up until it gets to my photo (I have iphoto 6.0.5). Then itunes (7.1) says it couldn't update due to error-36. When I check the ipod all the music and movies etc are updated - but not my latest photos or smart albums.
What gives and how do I fix it?Attention All,
As you may see from my different posts, I had the same problem with my iPod nano 2 Gb when I ( directed by apple instructions) decided to update to 1,1, had several problems with the synchronisation of files (songs) to the iPod. From Monday untill yesterday had several restores and nothing happened. Then decided to restore and retrieve my older update 1,0, and then the iPod simply worked fine!! Apple should see immediattly this issue as from what I've read a great number of Nanos are facing difficulties when updating to 1,1 !!! Please Webmaster or anyone from Apple take an attitude! -
InDesign crashes when updating InCopy ICML files
I created an assignment file with around 20 different stories. The next time I opened InDesign the writer had input text to most of the story files. One story file was a couple of pages of text, the rest were just a few lines of copy, nothing huge. Every time I tried to update the ICML files InDesign crashed. I didn't matter if I only tried updating one story or all of them, it always crashed. I was working on a PC when this happened. I moved over to my Mac to try and updated the ICML files and it crashed there too.
The actual InCopy ICML files on the server were fine. The writer never realized there was a problem. All of the copy was sitting there, so I was able to go back and re-import all the copy.
I did all the basic stuff to resolve the issue like restart, trash the prefs, convert to INX, and try on different computer. Nothing worked, crashed InDesign every time.
I'm currently using CS5, but this same issue came up last year on another project in CS4 as well.
Has anyone had this happen and/or know of a fix other than re-importing all the story files? Some might call me crazy, but in order to progress with my project I ended up having to create my own work around this crashing bug.
The problem with my situation was that the reviewers had already made their comments in InCopy and it wasn't until I tried opening the .indd file and updating the stories that we received the crash... every time.
My workaround - if the reviewers had made their comments in InCopy, hopefully with track changes enabled, in order to see their comments I did the following:
I opened the .indd file in InDesign CS5.5 (version 7.5.2). DO NOT UPDATE the document with the ICML stories. Instead I unlinked the .icml stories from the main document. I then opened the .icml files in InCopy 5.5. I was able to see the edits that were made by my reviewers and copy and paste them between InCopy and InDesign at that point.
I know, I know. This is totally a crazy thing to need to do when we have such a powerful tool (InDesign and InCopy). It comes down to, you must do what you must do to get the job done. I truly had no other option presented at the time. The project had to complete and the reviewers were not HAPPY to even think about reviewing the content again via PDF shared review.
The best advice I received from other forum users when I proposed the crashing issue was that it could be because of anchored objects being deleted or moved by an InCopy editor. Because InCopy is strictly a text editing tool, there may be an issue that causes InDesign to get frustrated when an edit moves or deletes an anchored object or frame. I had lots of anchored object, interactive objects, etc. in my document. To track down whether an anchored object moved or was deleted by a user was unsurmountable... my workaround, while painful, at least got the job done this time.
Any future projects will be moved back to CS4. That version atleast works with InCopy stories and Interactivity. I am sure one day this will be resolved... just wonder when. -
