CRASH with view options

Having the strangest and most annoying time currently with iTunes 10.2.2.
I'm getting crashes when I try and change the view option in the Podcast section. I can subscribe ok to a Podcast through the iTunes site, the Podcast can also be seen downloading when the download section appears in iTunes BUT when I click on the Podcast name on the left section of iTunes the default view is thumbnail. If I try and change the view options whilst the Podcast is downloading I get a crash everytime (this doesn't and has never happened on my other MBP system using the same 10.2.2)
I have just experimented and let the download finish and to my surprise I DIDN'T get a crash...very weird.
I did uninstall and reinstall via the instruction on the Apple site after I had the first crash.

Dale:
Thank you for the link. I put my OSX Install disc in, found the disk utility, and highlighted each and every disc that came up (one at a time) and hit "repair". At first, one disk repair said "Cannot Unmount Disk". I pressed on to the other 2 disks in my system. I returned to that first one with the error message and tried again. This time, it proceeded to the end and said, "No Reparis were Needed" -- just like for the other disks.
So, I chose to restart the computer using OSX that's on my hard-drive.
I got the apple logo. I got the "welcome" tone. Again, I have nothing else: no log-in screen, no desktop. Nothing.

Out of the blue, my AppleTV went to a screen that had two icons, Computers and Settings. Why won't it go the the usual TV screen with viewing options? Help!

Here's what finally worked for me with Apple TV 3rd generation. Out of the box, when setup with wi-fi, it breezed through without any issue. As soon as I powered down and connected it to another tv (same wi-fi network), it got stuck at setting date/time. The remote would help in getting out of it, but the home would only have "Computers" and "Settings" and pretty much useless except for AirPlay. Here's what I did to resolve this:
    1. On your main router, temporarily disable the firewall or set it to the lowest setting allowable (a reboot of the router maybe required).
    2. Restart apple tv via the "restart" option in the "General" option in the main settings menu.
    3. It should breeze through and not show the "Setting date/time" screen.
    4. Once it loads up properly, turn on your fire wall as before  (a reboot of the router maybe required).
I think it worked for me out of the box, but auto-update to the latest software introduced this bug. So, everytime apple tv tries to synch with the time server, this issue will come back. To disable this, I turned off the "auto time synch" option in Settings -> General.
I am fairly confident that I'd be able to use steps 1 through 4 anytime this recurs. Possible scenarios causing recurrence of this issue:
    1. Unplugging the power to apple tv or power failures.
    2. OS updates.
    3. Restoring apple tv using "Restore" or via micro-usb and iTunes to the lastest OS.
Hope this helps. Please post if this works for you.

  • Something weird happening with View Options....

    Hi!,
OK, so I go into my hard drive root (where the library, users, system folders are). I go to the View menu and choose Show View Options. In that small panel, I check the Show Item info checkbox so that it shows me all the info about folders. I enable it and close the window. Now under all the folders, it says how many files are indside them. All the numbers were correct and I was happy until I noticed that the printing underneath the Applications folder said that there were no items inside. So, I went into the applications folder and all my apps are still there (phew!) . I logged out and logged in to see if that fixed it but NOPE, it still had "Not items" under the Applications folder. Whats goin' on?
I know that this may be a small problem with nothing to worry about but I'm afraid that all the other options may be going crazy as well. Is there a pref file I can trash?
    Any help is appreciated
    Indragie

    Hi Indragie,
You must not have noticed the option at the top of the View Options box. The radio button for "All windows" must have been on. So you ended up making a global change. Perform a View Options command again and reverse it by turning off the "Show Item" info with the same "All windows" option on. That will clear that setting from all other folders. In the future, watch that option carefully and make sure to set it first.

  • Server crash with -server option on Win2k

We have observerd that the WL server crashes eventually when run with the Hopspot

    for this , please ?

    Hi.
ok, you are using the hotspot client vm. thanks for clarifying.
If you are running out of memory then you may have a memory leak. The best way to test
for memory leaks is to run WLS under a profiler such as OptimizeIt or JProbe. This will
show you which class or classes is accumulating the memory. If you find that a WebLogic
class is accumulating memory then you should open a case with support.

  • Re:viewing option on the destop files

    Hi,
I have issue with viewing option on the destop files! After setting up the way I want them (Snap to Grid) though they stay where they are while I am working but, once I restart, log out or shut down the computer, I find them repalced or moved around on the desktop when log in back again. I thought installing Lion will clear the proplem, but did not. Is there someone who can help with this issue? Thanks

You must also take care of the fools that "convert" any other file (*.txt, *.xls, *.pdf, etc.)  to tdms by simply changing the extension in explorer.
(There are a few people here that "convert" *.bmp to *.jpg this way because attachments of bitmaps are not allowed. Just because the browser is smart enough to still display it despite the incorrect extension does not make it a jpeg image. Others write to an ASCII formatted txt file but give it an *.xls extension. While this does not make it an excel file, it forces the file to be opened by excel, which does its best to make sense of it. Works most of the time ).
Clearly, you need to check for proper extension after selection, but you should also handle the errors properly if the file is name *.tdms, but actually is something else.

  • Window View Options - Frustrations

Frustrated with view options. I really want to open any window and view the 3 column mode but I get the icons every time I open up anything and have to change it to the column view.
Note, after applying the column setting to a window, I have tried the "Show View Options" and have clicked the "All Windows" button in hopes that it would now apply to all windows but still nothing. It's driving me crazy! I'm so tired of changing it to column list constantly, can anyone help? Am I missing something simple or is it a glitch that the "All Windows" option is not working.
    Thanks
    MJ

I assume you've already been to Finder>Preferences and checked the "Open New Windows in Column View", however this will only apply to new windows.
The Finder also saves settings for each folder you've been in and I know of no way to make that change globally.

  • View options - since upgrade to 10.5.7

Hi recently upgraded to 10.5.7 everything fine except for one thing to do with 'View Options' ...
After the upgrade (actually a fresh install) I set my 'View Options' so that the icon size, grid spacing etc etc are to my taste. I have one setting which is applicable across the board. Prior to updating to 10.5.7 when I launched an application like 'Pages' and clicked 'open' and the window appeared to let me select which file I wanted the folders I could see in the window would be the size I selected when making the adjustments to 'view options'. Now this is not the case the folders in this window look much larger than all the others.
No idea why this is. Its the first time I have ever come across this. Its annoying rather than a disaster but can anyone assist?
    pb

Thanks for your reply ... sorry but could you clarify as don't know what you mean by selecting two icon sizes ... where do I select the two sizes ... at the moment I have 'view options' set to show all my icons at 40 x 40?

  • Problem 1 in my person form: hitting ora-1401 (view with check option).

In an earlier stage I had a table PERSON and a table ENSEMBLE.
At some stage I decided it was not handy I was storing performing musicians in two different tables.

The attribute IS_NATURAL_PERSON makes the record listed in person.
    The view definition is

    Hello .
Some NLS charsets (such as UTF8) require more than one byte to store accented characters like "Ȩ", "ȿ", "", "", "ȵ", "ȭ" in the database.
For example, when a 10 character string is inserted into a varchar2(10) column, the above messages may be signaled if your string contains accentuated characters such as "Ȩ", "ȿ", "", ", "ȵ", "ȭ". used in languages like German
    One solution
If the UTF8 NLS charset is being used with French, German ... characters in an Oracle database, then the size of the target column length should be set accordingly.
Set the NLS_LANGUAGE and NLS_CHARACTERSET database parameters.
One approach is to change the Database settings as follows:
    ALTER DATABASE CHARACTER SET WE8ISO8859P1;
    SHUTDOWN IMMEDIATE
    Onother
According to the Oracle documentation, column length semantics determine whether the length of a column is specified in bytes or in characters. You use BYTE to specify that the length is in bytes, and you use CHAR to specify that the length is in characters. CHAR length semantics is also known as codepoint length semantics.
Because some character sets require more than one byte for each character, a specification of 10 BYTE for a column might actually store less than 10 characters for certain character sets, but a 10 CHAR specification ensures that the column can store 10 characters, regardless of the character set.
You set the length semantics for an Oracle database using the NLS_LENGTH_SEMANTICS initialization parameter, and all VARCHAR2 and CHAR columns use the setting specified for this initialization parameter as the default. If this initialization parameter is not set, then the default setting is BYTE.

One thing that you can try is installing a 'fresh' version of OS X Lion. Boot into your Recovery partition (holding down the command and R keys whilst booting) and elect to install OS X from the Recovery screen. You need not erase your hard drive and you should not lose any of your data.
Oh, and just as a precaution, I would use Disk Utility, once you're in Recovery mode, to verify your hard drive before trying to install the OS again.

... What is the use for creating view?
A: First Data Integrity, Selecting Particular Columns..Most views are created and used for convenience. A view is a saved query. If the same operations are often done, then it can be very convenient to code those operations once, in a view, and refer to the view rather than explicitly doing those operations.
Sometimes, views are created and used for security reasons. For example, you many want to allow some users to see only certain rows or certain columns of a table.
Views are necessary for INSTEAD OF triggers.
What is the use for creating a view with check option?
A: As per oracle manual I read that its a referential integrity check through views. The reason is integrity, not necessarily referential integrity. The CHECK option applies only when DML is done through the view. It prohibits certain changes. For example, if a user can't see certain rows through a view, the CHECK option keeps the user from creating such rows.
A: Enforcing constraints at DB level.I'm not sure what you mean. Please give an example.
A: using CHECK OPTION we can do INSERTS UPDATES for a view for those columns who have no constraints... is it right??No. Using CHECK OPTION, you can do some inserts and updates, but not others. The columns involved may or may not have constraints in either case.
A: If we do a INSERT OR UPDATE for columns who have constraints it will show error... is it right???If you try to violate a constraint, you'll get an error. That happens in views with or without the CHECK OPTION, and also in tables.

  • Where is "WITH CHECK OPTION" stored on a view ?

We have a DB Compare program to ensure all the objects between 2 database servers are the identical.
One thing we can't find when comparing our objects is the the "with check option" on a view.
We've searched sysobjects (and others but can't find it anywhere).
Any ideas where its stored ?

I don't think there is any current compilation of issues that particularly affect upgrades.
I've put that on the to-do list
Here is what I've found for pulling the "with check option" setting out of the query tree.
Switch 200 causes ASE to print out the query tree before it is passed to the optimizer.
Using "set noexec on" aborts the select before it actually returns rows.
If WITH CHECK was used, the tree output will include a root2stat bitmap with a bit identified as CHECKOPT on.
You can use grep in isql to filter for that.
    create table t1 (c1 int)
    go
    create view view_no_check as select c1 from t1 where c1 > 9
    go
create view view_w_check  as select c1 from t1 where c1 > 9 with check option
    go
    set switch on 200
    go
    set noexec on
    go
    select * from   view_no_check
    go | grep CHECK
    select * from   view_w_check
    go | grep CHECK
    Example output:
    1> select * from   view_no_check
    2> go | grep CHECK

  • Called form crashes, when called with default option

    Here is the problem statement.
My problem is regarding the called_form built-in function of Oracle forms.
    I am calling call_form within a loop.
    call_form('schdule_task');
In first iteration it opens the called form and when the user clicks on exit button it comes back to the calling form and starts next iteration. But in next iteration the called form comes up and crashes immediately, causing the application to crash.
The calling form does not get a chance to become visible because by default call_form executes with 'HIDE'(hide the calling form) option.
Now if I execute the above mentioned call_form statement with "NO_HIDE" option then the called form does not crash in any of the iteration and the loop runs fine till the end.
    call_form('schdule_task',NO_HIDE);
What can be the problem? Is it related to call_form call or something else?

  • Re: Desktop view option with Mac OS X 10.7 Lion

After clean istall Lion and back up from time machine I had an issue with my viewing option on the destop files! After setting up the way I want my desktop files (Snap to Grid etc..) although they stay where they are while I am working, however, when log out, shut down or restart the computer back again, I find my destop files (eccept the hard drives)  repalced/moved around by themself on the desktop. I thougth the clean install Lion will clear the proplem, but did not. Is there someone who can help with this issue? Thanks

Sorry I can't help with the jumping around, but having lots of desktop icons causes the system to slow down.
Although, maybe they've improved that process a bit.
I think Snap to Grid maybe causing the issue, though. With Snap To Grid off, holding down the command key while dropping will cause the icon to snap to the nearest grid. That may be a workaround until it is fixed.
Hoping that Apple notices the issue will fail. Try providing feedback or using the Bug Reporter in the Apple Developer connection (I think you can still set up a free account to do this).
