Crashed hard drive with Itunes - How do I set up new computer and Ipod
My hard drive crashed. I did have a backup of my Itunes folder. I installed Itunes on the new computer, copied the folders over from the backup and everything is OK in Itunes, but I can't play any of the tunes that were purchased from Itunes. It says the computer is not authorized. I went through and authorized each tune, and I also authorized the computer globally.
I set up my playlists again, etc.
When I went to synch the IPOD, the only thing that copies over are the tunes that had been uploaded from CD"s. Everything else is gone from the Ipod.
I tried to call support...but I couldn't understand the accent so decided to call back later.
any suggestions for what I might do next?

For songs previously purchased from the iTunes Store, you can download them again to your new computer at no cost. In iTunes, go to the iTunes Store Home screen. Sign in (if you are not already) using the Apple ID used to make those purchases. Click on Purchased, under QUICK LINKS. On the Purchased screen, you can find and download previous purchases (that are not already in that iTunes library).
Then, sync your shuffle to that library, as desired.

I've already installed the hard drive, and set up windows 8.1 on a separate 1 gig drive. What's the easiest way to get Elements set up with all my tags etc. Can i just install Elements, and point it to the hard drive i installed with all my photos, and videos? Your iPod is designed to sync with only one iTunes library at a time. It will recognize the iTunes library on the PC as a new library. If you sync the iPod with this new library, all content will be erased from the iPod and replaced with what is in the new library. So what you will want to do is copy everything from the iPod to your new iTunes library on your PC first.

To get synced photos from an iPod to a computer you need a third-party program like TouchCopy or PhoneView.

2 external hard drives with iTunes and Time Machine
Hi folks.
My 160gb hard drive on my iMac is full so I've bought 2 x 1tb external hard drives, my plan being to move my iTunes library to one of them (as this uses the majority of space) and run it from there and use the 2nd hard drive with Time Machine.
My question is this, will Time Machine backup any changes to my iTunes library if it isn't on the computer's internal hard drive?

BrianJust be sure the iTunes volume is formatted +Mac OS Extended (Journaled).+ Most drives come formatted for Windoze, and TM can't back them up.

Recently the hard drive on my mac book was damaged beyond repair and I had to reinstall the OS.
MY iPhone still has all its original dta.
How can I connect my iPhone to my computer (virtually new) without loosing the data I have on my iPhone?
Obviously I cannot recover any of the old itunes files.

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was planned with you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchases which can be transferred to a computer.

You cannot redownload ringtones.
It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer for this very occasion. Have you failed to do this? -
I have a 2 yr old Iphone 4 and have not backed up or connected to Itunes up for 1 yr. I have new Windows 7 computer and want to connect and copy Itunes backed up folder from external HD (a year ago) to new computer and install new Itunes and new IOS. What steps should I take and what precautions? I don't want to lose any data on my phone such as music, photos, contacts, notes, texts etc, nor lose music from prior backed up Itune folder. Using an external hard drive with iTunes...
My library has gotten so large that it really no longer fits on my computer. I'd like to move my music to an external hard drive. Unfortunately, I didnt realize the whole, "your music can only be moved 5 times before its frozen" deal until recently, on my fifth move, so does anybody know how iTunes will react to being moved to an external hard drive? I just need to make sure that everything will still be accessable and work with my iPod and all.....
As far as moving your music to an external drive is concerned, have a look at this article in the Apple Knowledge Base.
the whole, "your music can only be moved 5 times before its frozen" deal is not the case. You can authorize no more than five computers at a time to play your purchases. But when you deauthorize one, you can authorize another in its place.
