Crashed while Encoding
Hi,
I was encoding a 90min video using Professional Quality. When there was about 5 and a half hours left, iDVD stopped responding and came up with an error report (which I unfortunately closed ). Is there a reason why this happened? Or a way to stop it from happening again? I have a bit over 20GB of free space as well...
Hope you can help!
Thanks,
Jia Wen

Hi
Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows:
Many possible origins. Most common:
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Hard disk is untidy: Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
• Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/acount* - log into this and re-try
• Program miss-match: iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.4 - is OK
• iDVD (08) Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try

Z77A crashing while encoding video
I just did a partial upgrade, keeping my WD Green HD, DDR3 and Nvidia GTX 470 while adding in a Z77A-GD65 and Core i5. When I attempt to use XMedia Recode I get anything from an immediate full power off to a delayed power off before reaching 10% encode.
Running Win 7 Ultimate and Bios V 10.6.I've not been able to determine if the program uses CPU or GPU, I did upgrade after the failure to the latest version with the same results. Some additional info:
I know longer test runs are needed, but just to get some quick potentially useful additional info - The following tests for 5 min each all came out clean with one exception:
Handbrake video re-encode(Though this doesn't support the wider range of files I need)
Folding at Home
Prime 95 using all 3 radio options plus custom with 0 RAM used (Though on the very first use I tried opening up MSI's Control Center to view Temps/CPU Frequency and got a full system freeze-Attempting to recreate this scenario was unsuccessful)
Memtest86+ fully run with no errors
I did not re-install my OS after the HW upgrade, though this is getting to the point that I'm ready to try it on a spare drive.
I'm not normally getting blue screens at the point of crash, just an instant total cut of power, black screen, dead case LED, quick speaker pop. I did however, get one BSOD upon my first boot immediately after the HW upgrade. It happened a second time following circumstances I don't recall. All of the other dozen plus crashes have not been BSOD.

Premiere Pro painfully slow or crashes while encoding on reasonable system?
Hi Folks, I'm new to the forum and new to premiere pro. I am having a real issue with encoding videos. If I have any fx on like Magic Bullet Looks then the media encoder says it will take around 3 hours for an 8 minute video (h.264 HD for youtube) but my system seems to crash before it finishes encoding (some times blue screen, some times encoder error message). If I have no fx it still takes a couple of hours for an 8 minute video. This seems like an excessive amount of time, even for encoding my AVCHD files, which I know are notoriuosly slow to encode. I have the latest updates for Looks & PP.
My system:
Windows 7 Ultimate
Intel Q9550
Asus P5Q-EM
GTX 480 unlocked for CUDA
16GB 800mhz DDR2 RAM
500GB Western Digital HD
Which I would have thought was pretty decent for video encoding!
Anyway any help or suggestions on how to speed things up and maybe stop crashes welcomed.
ThanksHi
I had some BSOD's too in the beginning after building a new PC for PP CS5, but in my case it was the RAM, like Harm points out to be one reason, that was the problem.
You could run a memorytest or burn in test for a day or two just to stress the PC and see if it find anything.

Premiere Pro and Media Encoder crash while rendering H.264
Very recently, a problem's popped up where Premiere Pro and Media Encoder (CC) will crash while rendering H.264.
It's only while rendering H.264 - other formats seem to work fine.
And I don't mean that it returns an error, I mean it hard crashes with a Windows "Adobe Premiere Pro CC has stopped working" popup.
It doesn't crash at a consistent time during the render, even on the same project. Occasionally, it won't crash at all, but this is usually not the case.
I've tried disabling CUDA and my overclock to no avail. Please help!On the topic of opening a project on the exact same version of Premiere Pro CC 2014 (yes it is definitely up to date, and the 2014 version), to overcome this export crash problem that ZachHinchy has brought up - you can't. Technically speaking, one should easily be able to open a Premiere Pro CC 2014 project from one system on another system running the exact same up to date, legitimate version of Premiere Pro CC 2014 without any kind of error. But for some reason, this has been disallowed(?) by Adobe. It has facepalm written all over it. Does anyone agree that this is at least a little bit silly?
I have tried exporting a Final Cut Pro XML from my project to try and open the sequence at uni on a Mac, so I can render my project when I finish my edit. It half works - the clips are there, but the sequence is gone - i.e. 12 hours of painstaking sequencing and micro-edits that had me at several points in time wanting to insert my hand through my monitor with enough force to make a large hole. I really cannot afford redo this sequence, as my assignment is due tomorrow, and I have to work at 6 oclock in the morning, so I also cannot afford to stay up till the early hours of tomorrow morning. Wish me luck that some miraculous event has taken place overnight that will somehow allow me to just open my project, on the same version of Premiere, on a Mac, without hassle. (Apple OS is not friendly to anything but its own selfish nature, so I am having doubts).
Adobe please, if you can do anything at all to help, you will save my assignment, and my faith will be restored. Otherwise, I'll just get my money back and buy Final Cut instead.
I cant even
If I find a way to fix either of these problems, I will post straight away. -
IDVD does crash when encoding audio
I have been reading a large number of posts regarding iDVD freezing, having a spinning beachball, and hanging while encoding audio. I have not been able to find a post where it discusses the crashing/unexpected quitting of iDVD. I have tried a couple of times to get the burning process started, as I thought it may have been a small glitch, but to no avail.
Should I follow the steps marked out in:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=335417&tstart=30
I usually complete the final process of iDVD with all Energy Saving and Screen Saver preferences set to "Never". I usually would delete encoded assets, but I did not have time before I went to work to try a third time.
This is the first time it has happened to me and I have completed about three projects successfully since updating to iDVD 6.0
Thanks in advance for your assistance.
RodgerSUCCESS (But it took a while!)
When I arrived home form work, the first thing I did was to remove Flip4Mac using its uninstaller. This had no effect. iDVD still crashed bringing up the crash report dialogue box.
So I followed the instructions from http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=335417&tstart=30
I also repaired permissions (nothing to report there) and deleted encoded assests. Finally, I replayed my DVD project in the iDVD's preview/test section. The audio was out with the video. For some strange reason, my brain told me that the syncing between audio and video was the main thing to blame. So, I had a quick think and decided to remove all the fade ins and fade outs from my original iMovie project, remove all chapter markers, save the project, replace the chapter markers and then open the original iDVD file shared from this iMovie project. Then, clicked OK to update file to match, deleted encoded assests.
I do not know which part worked for me, but I woke this morning with a completed DVD (which is still to be tested in a DVD player).
Thanks for all the assistance and advice, I'll keep this post unresolved in case someone else has a full crash of iDVD.
Rodger GW
PS I think Apple are a little sick of seeing my crash report coming through with the answer to "What were you doing when the application crashed?" being "Just trying to encode audio!!"

Hi,
recently CS 6 crashes while rendering, this happens at the beginning (ca. 800 frames), i change from GPU to CPU, deletet the cache files, try a different sequence
with other videos, all the same
in task manager i can't kill the premiere prozess
after crashing only the power/reset button helps
the strange is, at the same time my complete network crashes to ??
Windows 7 pro
16GB RAM
Genforce GTX570 Driver 340.52
Intel i7-2600K
With Media Encore there are no problems.
can someone help me ?The problem with PP CS6 crashing during render has increased from once in a while to where it cannot complete any renders.
---->>> Encoding to H.264 MP4. Seems to do fine on AVI renders. H.264 MP4 is the key to the problem. <<<---
The error that it is reporting says that the "output directory could not be found", but the problem is the same when rendering to a different (not RAID) drive. Does not crash with AVI render. Replaced H.264 Codec -->> No change. Crashed at 90% of a 50 second file render to lowest level MP4 file.
It is not the motherboard - Replaced Gigabyte with ASUS Sabertooth 990FX
It is not the CPU - Replaced AMD 6 core with AMD 8 core FX
It is not heat. Cabinet is cool, all fans are running, no dust, no blockage.
It is not power supply - Replaced 750 W power supply with 850 W power supply.
It is not memory - Increased memory from 16GB to 32 GB, Computer repair shop rotated and tested memory.
It is not virus (no email on this machine, current virus protection and security software).
It is not drive space - Increased RAID from 2TB to 8 TB - Problem actually got worse - (crashes sooner)
It is not the video card - drivers verified correct by Nvidia - (Quadro 4000) - tested by installing a different video card - No change.
It is not software install - Uninstalled total CS6 package and reinstalled.
It is not a specific render file - It will not complete any renders now.
It is not a recent software install - The only software that has been updated is Adobe but that was ruled out by the total uninstall/reinstall. Backup install on a laptop is able to complete renders on the files that crash on the "big" machine. Nothing new has been installed. Virus and SpyBot show "clear".
It is not the CUDA or Mercury setting - Tested with CUDA on and off.
It's not the Playback settings - Tested for GPU Acceleration and Mercury Playback Engine Software only.
It is not the C: drive - Replaced with SSD.
Ran while watching Performance Monitor - No hint of problem before crash point. (video available).
So, what are we missing?
Windows 7 Pro

32 GB Ram
8 TB RAID
ASUS Sabertooth 990FX

So lately my IDVD program has been crashing while it writes whatever asset I've assigned to it. It goes through the encoding video/audio just fine, and it'll start writing, but before it manages to finish writing, or it gets to the Writing lead-out stage, it'll suddenly crash and that box will pop up and say, "iDVD quit unexpectedly".
I have been keeping my GBs above 25, so that's not the problem. Is there anything else I should do, or try?Hi
*Not knowing the origin to Your problem - General approach when in trouble is as follows.*
• Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk if it is less than 10Gb should rather have 25Gb
• Hard disk is untidy. Repair Permissions, Repair Hard disk (Apple Disc Util tool)
• Delete iDVD pref file - *or rather start a new user/account* - log into this and re-try
iDVD pref file resides. Mac Hard Disk (start-up HD)/Users/"Your account"/Library/Preferences and is named.
com.apple.iDVD.plist
While iDVD is NOT RUNNING - move this file out to desk-top.
Now restart iDVD.
• Program miss-match. iDVD 5.0.2, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK - DON’T work under Leopard
• Program miss-match. iDVD 6.0.4, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• Program miss-match. iDVD’08 v. 7.0.1, Mac OS X.4.11 AND QuickTime 7.5.5 - is OK (might work under Leopard)
• iDVD (08) v7 Locate theme folder. Move out iDVD1, iDVD 2 and eventually iDVD4 folders to desktop - re-try
• Try a Cleaning CD/DVD that cleans the laser lens on the DVD burner/player
iDVD 6.0.4 and iDVD 7.0.1 are compatible with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard
Last resort. from Craig. Solved the problem!! Finally!!
I deleted every iDVD application and folder from my boot drive,
emptied the trash and then installed iDVD 08 using the customize option
and I am up and running.
If You do a re-install be sure to get rid of all iDVD old parts AND then EMPTY the Trash-basket !
iDVD updated ?
Apple Codec updated ?

It's possible a newer driver may help. Visit nVidia.com to facilitate downloading/installing their latest release.
That said, I've also found Photoshop can get flakey once you start working on 3D stuff. I've had amazing, long sessions where it just worked, and I've had others where it just wouldn't cooperate - doing exactly the same things.
It's then that you start to appreciate the auto-save in the background, but even then once in a while it doesn't auto-recover, so you want to save your work in multiple master files fairly often.
I think the latest version (14.1.2) seems about the most stable for 3D work so far.

I have the latest downloadable version of LR5. It crashed while it was createing 1:1 previews during an import. After a Win7(64) restart, it shows a message that LR needs to quit because it can't read the preview files and it will try to fix it the next time is launches. I get the same message the next and every subsequent time it launches so I can't launch LR at all now.
I get that the preview file got corrupted somehow. Is there some way to fix this problem without building a new catalog?Use Windows Explorer to open the folder containing your catalog. You will see a folder with the extension .lrdata. You need to delete that folder and then start Lightroom again. Lightroom will generate a new previews folder.

I've bought a movie but iTunes crashes while trying to download it. Do you experience the same today?
Can you not sync your iPod with iTunes? That should get the movie onto your computer. Now sync your iPad and transfer the movie?

Firefox crashes while logged into Lumosity
This what I related to Lumosity support:
I'm using Mozilla Firefox 22.0 (up to date) with Win7 and IE10 10.0.9200.16618 update version 10.0.6 is in the background (not using it for browsing, etc). I believe Java is involved in gaming, so here is that data: Java Deployment Toolkit 7.0.250.17 10.25.2.17 and Java TM Platform SE7 U25 10.25.2.17 Whether I access Lumosity by email link or directly by the URL, Mozilla is crashing repeatedly, going on days now. It tends to crash with Disillusion very frequently (in other words when I finally get access, it crashes repeatedly). It has crashed on Familiar Faces and Rising Word Bubbles . I wish I could give you a better list - but it seems to crash w/more demanding games. It crashes while loading the game. The progress bar gets one-quarter into the load before it goes down.
I have been sending crash reports to Mozilla. I have looked on line for some answers. Nothing found yet in the way of answers. I have seen that various people (general online chats/forums) are experiencing the crashes and obtaining no answers. If there is more info you need that would help analyze and fix this, please let me know.
I have gone through Mozilla's general help about crashes and have restarted Mozilla in safe mode (no add ons) and I have opted out of using hardware acceleration (permanently). I do not think it's crashed in the safe mode.
My husband uses Lumosity on his computer and his entire computer shuts down. He has the same systems I have only on a PC (mine is a laptop). His Java versions, (Toolkit) - 7.0.60.24 10.6.2.24 Java TM Platform SE7 U610.6.2.24.
I received response from Lumosity and understand that support believes this issue may be due to a compatibility issue with plugins on the new version of Firefox. I also understand that Lumosity depends on Adobe Flash Player, so after discussion w/Lumosity support, I updated my Adobe Flash Player to v. 11.8.800.94. BTW Lumosity support is able to recreate the events w/Firefox and to control them by starting Firefox in safe mode.
I have uninstalled Firefox, deleted the Mozilla folder from the program files as outlined in support info. I did notice that uninstalling Firefox did not uninstall Mozilla Maintenance Service v. 22 7-2-13 333 KB. There were several folders in the Mozilla folder when I deleted it, the Maintenance file being one of them I am sure, and it is now dated today's date, v. 22 at 219kb.
In the process of this, I had notice of Windows updates, so I rebooted the computer to let the updates install. I went back to Mozilla and logged on to Lumosity, opened the game "Disillusion" and it started up fast w/o crashing. However, the very next game I opened, Rising Word Bubbles, it crashed. Twice or so. I opened Mozilla in safe mode and it did not crash when I played one of the games.
I think I have listed everything that I've done. Sure could use some help to fix this. I've even backed up and defragged.
One last thing, I had installed "Memeo Premium Backup" and was having trouble with that program crashing, Windows indicating it would debug and advise (nothing received on that). I am wondering if those problems were also a part of this problem. I have since gone back to "Memeo Instant Backup" which works fine. FYI
Now, I see there is a button to push that will automatically do something. I think I'll copy my notes, just in case. Probably TMI for an auto response anyway.
Help. Thank you!
I typically LOVE Mozilla and spread the word ... oh please let there be an answer. ;)
(Cool, didn't expect the data after I clicked the button and installed. Woo-hoo. Keep on rocking Mozilla.)
Thank you,
JennThanks - I'll go the "safe" route and disable add ons.

Indesign getting crash while exporting because of bad pdf inside file.
Hi,
My indesing is getting crash while exporting to pdf. I have link to pdf file inside the indesign file, when i export that indesign file to pdf indesign is getting crash without showing any error message. If i place another pdf file in same location then it is going fine and i can able to get the output pdf file. Please suggest me how can i check and correct that pdf file and is there any solution to this. Please help me i have thousands of indesign pages with the same issue. If you want pdf i can send it to your mail id. please i need fix for this problem.
Thanks
KiranFor all of you lurkers, Kiran sent me a copy of the PDF, and it looks like I found the problem (and learned a new technique which may help others in the same boat).
I tried re-frying the file by creating an eps and distilling, but the result was the same, then I tried exporting from CS3, just for fun, and it worked, but I realized the PDF had been cropped, so I started trying differnt sections and isolated an area that failed, though that wasn't particularly helpful.
Acrobat preflight didn't find anything that looked odd or problematic, and then I decided to run Examine Document. It came up with MetaData (no surprise) and also two items under a heading of Deleted and Cropped objects, with no preview or description. I unselected the MetaData from the list of found stuff, them clicked the Remove button in the Examine Document panel, and resaved (and while you have the opportunity to give it a new name, doing so doesn't remove the stuff untill you do the whole procedure again and save with the same name). Placed the new version of the PDF in a new file and exported no problem. -
Im hoping someone may understand the cause of the LabVIEW crash Im experiencing.
LabVIEW 6.1 crashes and Windows 2000 says, "LabVIEW.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows" when I try to load an llb by clicking on the top-level vi from within LabVIEW or when opening the llb from outside LabVIEW. It crashes while loading particular sub-vis of the llb. If I try to load the offending subvis directly, I also get the same crash. If I build the llb into an application, the build goes smoothly and the resulting application functions correctly. If I use a splash screen approach and do not load the offending sub-vis (by not opening vi references to them), they load-up fi
ne when the top-level vi loads and then I am able to edit and re-save any vi of the llb including the offending sub-vis. Ive tried re-saving the llb as a separate development distribution and still get the same crash behavior. Ive also tried saving the offending sub-vis to separate files outside the mother llb (after getting them open with the splash screen approach) and I get the same crash when I open these files. If I save one of the offending sub-vis as a separate llb, I cant get it open even with the splash screen approach. Ive loaded the latest video driver for my Dell Inspiron 8100 laptop and I get the same behavior on a Dell Dimension 8200 desktop that is also running Windows 2000 (Version 5 SP4). There are 110 objects in my llb that includes *.vis, *.rtms, and *.ctls.. Any ideas as to why/how this is occurring and how I can fix it? Is this a known 6.1 bug that is fixed in 7? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Ive included my splash screen like loader, f
or what its worth. Thanks.

__loadVIs.vi 88 KBThanks for responding. Your understanding is correct. Mass compiling was one of the first things I tried (although I failed to mention it). I also un-installed and re-installed LabVIEW. It crashes during mass compiling of the full llb, although the vi that it appears to be working on when it crashes is not an offender, i.e. I can open that vi fine. The crash during mass compiling is the same crash, i.e. Windows says it had to close LabVIEW because it generated errors.
Ive attached one of the offenders. It is missing many of its sub-vis so youll have to hit ignore vi a bunch when opening it. (The llb of it is ~2.6 MB. I thought that might be too big/rude to post.) This vi crashes LabVIEW upon mass compile or upon opening it (after hit
ting ignore subvi a bunch).
I was going to attach an llb of another smaller offender, but in the process of editing it to be a little prettier and better documented, the problem kind of vanished for that vi. The main routine still crashes when I mass compile the full llb, but now I can open some of the old offenders without incident. I still cant open the main routine directly as it crashes LabVIEW. Thanks for your time.
