Crashes and Whine on MacBook Pro

Two Items of Concern:
1. Recently I have been getting kernel panics resulting in my machine freezing up and requiring me to hold down the power button to shut it down and then bring it back up. Here are the messages from Panic.log:

Also, mostly when my MacBook is running on battery I hear an obnoxious hissing/whining sound when the PC is idle. It goes away for a second when I plug the power back in and then comes back.

Bummer. Same thing I went through. The logs provided little insight for me in troubleshooting, unfortunately.
Here's what I went through after running all of the typical utilities, to include memcheck and the hardware diagnostic utility in loop mode for 4 hours. (anything to avoid an RMA!)
1) clean install with only the original software---same problem
2) update all the software and use no peripherals--- same problem
3) reinserted the RAM modules (2); same problem
4) ran on one RAM module at a time, and ran memcheck forever: no errors in memory noted; same problem
5) gave up and sent it in
Turned out that I had a bad logic board. No more crashes. Apple support was excellent and turnaround was less than a week from the initial phone call. I don't have an AppleStore anywhere near, but I would have preferred that option to avoid the shipping and handling wear and tear to the computer.

What specific OS and Encore versions? Since you say "latest OS updates," I assume Mavericks, and is this the relatively new 10.9.1 version?
Where in the startup does it crash? Is there an error message?
Mavericks causes a variety of issues, and we don't have enough data to really pin them down. At least with the original Mavericks, some users appeared to get CS6 to run with some serious but workable problems.
Make sure you have handled any permissions issues.

You replied in a post referencing 10.6.8 that you had 'the same problem'. Did you upgrade to Maverick AFTER installing PSE? safari 6 crashes randomly on my macbook pro 13 mid 2012 with mountain lion. next to that, animations are choppy/laggy..

I'm getting the same problem. Safari closes, presents no crash dialog, and reopens the tabs I had up when i open it back up. I'd suspect people think they are triggering this themselves.

Frequent aero crashes in Windows 7 - Macbook Pro 2010

Hi all,
has anyone come across this issue?
I have had continuous Aero crashes in my Windows 7 x64 installation and the new Macbook Pro 2010 with nvidia 330m.
During window resizing, video playback, aero and the whole desktop window manager will frequently crash. I have reinstalled twice the operating system, installed alternate nvidia forceware drivers (from laptopvideo2go.com) with no success.
When such a crash occurs the following error message is recorded in the Windows Event Log, Application category: 'The Desktop Window manager has encountered a fatal error'.
Any feedback will be appreciated.

I'm not quite sure what I'm supposed to paste over! Here's what happens to me. I've got 257.15 downloaded and extracted. Then I go here:

I select driver version 257.15, set it for performance, select a number of different options on the page, most of which mean nothing to me, and download a ile named nv4_disp.inf. The problem is that I can't "replace" that file because that file doesn't exist in the driver installation folder. There are a lot of inf files, but none of them have that name.
I've tried to install directly from the generated inf file by selecting update driver on the display adapter, then going manually to the inf file. It works up to the point where it shows me the 330M as compatible hardware, but when I try to install it, it says it encountered an error while attempting to install it, "The system cannot find the file specified."
So what's up with my inf file? I'm thinking I'm doing something wrong there.
One thing that may complicate this is that I uninstalled and deleted the Boot Camp driver while following another set of instructions on how to fix this issue. Do I need to reinstall that driver, by chance? Then upgrade from that?
Any tips on how to recover and get back working again (preferably with updated less crash prone drivers!) would be hugely appreciated. I do development on Windows 7 and have been having a LOT of crash issues related to this!

I learned that the Dock is positioned at the chosen edge of whatever Display is positioned farthest to that side. E.g. for the Dock to be positioned on the right side of the Cinema Display (instead of the right side of the MacBook), the Cinema Display must be oriented (by dragging) to the right of the MacBook monitor on the "Arrangement" tab of the Displays Preference Panel.

I was messing around with .kext files in the MacintoshHD and now my MacBook Pro won't start up.

I was messing around with .kext files in the MacintoshHD and moved the system.kext and two others to my desktop and deleted the originals and now the MacBook Pro won't start up. All I get at start up is the apple icon then a bunch of text shows up part of which says Mac OS version: not yet set. then the apple icon turns into the power icon and tells me to turn off the computer. I've tried reinstalling from the install DVD by holding down option when powering on and selecting the install DVD and it just goes to a white screen with the apple icon and stays like that. I didn't have the disk utility on my Mac before this happened because I deleted it to make room on my computer a while ago so I'm not sure if that's why it won't load the install DVD but anyone who knows the solution to this with out going to get it repaired would be greatly appreciated. Never mind my dad just found the original install DVD and that worked. Before I was using an install disc that Apple sent me for another issue I was having, but thanks for replying so quickly and trying to help on this Thanksgiving day!!!

Providing specifics on all the ways to do this will take more time than I am willing to spend here these days. You can do some of this with Home Sharing. You can transfer the entire library from one computer to another, If you do that you can delete what you don't want from the transferred library.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings: Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive. Open iTunes and immediately hold down the option (alt) key (shift on Windows) so you get a prompt to select a library, then guide it to the 'iTunes Library.itl' file in the moved iTunes folder. If you put the copied iTunes folder in the default location of Macintosh HD > Users > *User Name* > Music then you don't even need to start with the option key held down, iTunes will automatically look for it there. (Make sure there isn't anything already in the iTunes folder there that you want to keep since you will be replacing it with the one you are moving.)
You do not want to use a new AppleID. Change the AppleID on the new phone to the old ID. Purchases made with one AppleID cannot be transferred to a different one and it will be a royal pain to manage two Apple IDs.

Log in with a different account.
