Crashes on specific albums

I am using iPhoto 2.0.1 on my power pc G5. Whenever I try to open one of three specific albums, or one of three film rolls, the application quits. I have reinstalled iphoto; I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?

You can try a several of possible fixes:
1 - repair disk permissions with Disk Utility and manuall set the permissions on your iPhoto Library folder as follows:
Setting Permissions for iPhoto Library Folder
1 - Select the iPhoto Library folder and type Command-I.
2 - When the Info window comes up go to the Ownership and Permissions section and make sure You have Read & Write permission and that the Owner and Group have Read & Write also. Others - Read Only.
3 - Then click on the "Apply to enclosed items..." button.
2 - launch iPhoto with the CommandOptionShift keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. That will create a second, rebuilt iPhoto Library folder in your Pictures folder.
3 - can you just select the rolls without opening and export them to the desktop. If so the delete them and reimport. Also delete the album without opening if possible. It probably has photos from those three rolls.
If non of those work post back and we'll go from there. If there is an Albums folder and AlbumData.xml file in your iPhoto Library folder also let us know.
Hope this has been of some help. Good luck.

  • Support link to report specific album download fai...

Hi, this might aid UX: I've had a problem whereone specific album (Beverley Knight - 100%) reports "Download  failed". Maybe the ovi player could add a right click menu item to report this as an error - or at least make it easy to report this via the Nokia Support screens.
Maybe some guidance in the "Help" would be good too.....
BTW - can you fix the download, or add a link to where to report this?
Other than that - CWM is pretty good!

  • Album artwork isn't showing up in album view (where all the albums are) but IS showing up when you drill into the specific album.

The album artwork isn't showing up in the album view where all the different albums are shown but when you drill into the specific album then it is shown.  This seems to be a recent problem as it wasn't happening in the past.

Nope, that doesn't work.  First, I manually manage the music, but even deleting and using auto-fill, doesn't put all the album art in place even though it is all on the songs in iTunes.  Even copying and pasting from iTunes to the iPhone does not get the artwork to show up, despite the fact it shows up in "Info" on the iPhone in iTunes.  Plus there seems no rhymn nor reason as to the missing artwork, some ripped songs have it, some purchased songs do not. Bizarre!  But I've run across this problem every since time I've restored an iPhone and had to redo the music separately, however, previously I could manually drop and drag the song over after the auto-fill to replace (after deleting on the iPhone) and the artwork would show up.  Not this time however.  This is one of those details I find extremely annoying!

  • HT1491 Can you gifty someone a specific album rather than just a voucher?

I would like to purchase a specific album for my wife, but I don't want to buy a CD as we have all the music digitalised now, can you send someone a specific album as a present ratehr than jus send them a voucher for an amount in money?

Yes, if you find that album in the store and click on the little downward pointing arrow to the right of its price you should get an option to gift it : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2736

  • In shuffle all/song mode, can you get specific album tracks to segue?

That is, if I want to shuffle everything in the pod, but want to maintain specific album cut segues is there some setting I can use by right clicking the cut to 'Get Info', then tweak?
I tried checking off 'Remember playback position' and 'Part of a gapless album' under 'Options', but that didn't do the trick.
e.g., I don't necessarily mind ZZ Top's 'Waiting For The Bus' segueing into Bill Evans' 'Green Dolphin Street', but it really SHOULD go right into ZZ's 'Jesus Just Left Chicago'.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Smart Album search of a specific album?

Is it possible to limit the query of a smart album to a particular album. The "find" command seems to limit a search to a specific album while smart albums seem to query the entire project. I would like to have a smart album limit its search to a particular album (or possibly several particular albums).
    I am using Aperture 1.5.3

Smart Albums can search within a Project, the entire Library or a all the Projects within a Blue Folder, depending on where you made the Smart Album. In other words, only 'containers' that images actually live in - remember that Albums only contain references back to Projects.

  • I'm finally moving my photos from my PC to my MacBook Pro.  I have 8 years worth of photos organized into very specific albums.  Can I import the album structure directly into iPhoto or am I going to have to recreate everything in iPhoto?

I'm finally moving my photos from my PC to my MacBook Pro.  I have 8 years worth of photos organized into very specific albums.  Can I import the album structure directly into iPhoto or am I going to have to recreate everything in iPhoto?

If you want to duplicate your Folder Tree in iPhoto:
Start at the bottom of the hierarchy and drag a folder of images to the Album Heading in iPhoto. The pics will be imported and an Album of the same name created.
You can then create the Enclosing Folders in the iPhoto Window (File -> New Folder) and drag the Album to it. Folders can contain other Folders (Nested Folders) and Albums.
However, is your folder system date based? Then this form of organisation is a bit pointless in iPhoto when Smart Albums or the Calendar tool (Click on the wee magnifying glass in the Search Box) mean you can find the photos taken on any day, month or year at a click. With Smart Albums it's easy to find photos from specific range - say, June 3 to August 25, 2009 etc.
If your folder system is theme based - Xmas pics, Birthday pics etc, then you'll find Keywords are much more flexible, and can be used in conjunction with other criteria for making Smart Albums and searches.

  • IPhoto import - a way to import specific albums?

I was watching the instructional video DVD that came with aperture and have found it a very, very helpful tutorial in getting started. I am having a problem doing one of the things shown on it though. At the beginning of the second track, the video covers iPhoto import, and shows how you can import a specific album by Import > Files and choosing a specific album name within the iPhoto library. My iPhoto library, however, does not have any album names in it - only numbered folders. I'd like to be able to import my business photos only and not my personal photos into Aperture, or ideally both but with a separate aperture project for each photo session. But since the iPhoto hierarchy is just numbered folders, it is too confusing to find what i am trying to import. Do I have to export all my iPhoto albums separately into folders that I name individually, and then import those folders into Aperture?

    You need to
    1. Download the images to a folder on the desktop.
It may be possible to download an entire album at a time, but that's a question for a Picasa forum
    2. Then import the folder to iPhoto.

  • How can I import photos into a specific album?

Wow, I have been using Applescript for 15 years but I can't get this to work. I just want to make a script that brings a JPG image into iPhoto '09 into a specific album, but it seems set against letting me, and I can't find specific examples of what I'm trying to do so far.
    tell application "iPhoto"
    new album name "hello"
add "Mac HD:Users:pp:mypic.jpg" to album "hello"
    end tell
This doesn't give an error and it makes the album, but nothing else. Nothing is imported into iPhoto.
Eventually I want to add a title and keyword data to that picture also using Applescript (hopefully not UI scripting), but since I can't get the barest basics of importing to work properly, I thought I'd see if anyone here could help.

    Peter
I’ve never seens an AS that can do this. Hazel can and it might be worth examining it to see what you can learn.
Automator can do this too, but there’s no way in that to add keywords or titles in that - though it is possible with Aperture and Automator.
Given that we can go months on here without mention of AppleScript I wouldn’t be surprised if you get a better response on the AppleScript forum.

  • Determining what metadata will get specific album art from iTunes Store

How can I determine what metadata will get specific album art from the iTunes Store?
e.g., I have some tracks with correct metadata for the album "International Herb" by the band "Culture".  This album is listed under the same artist & title in the iTunes Store, but getting the album art for these tracks results in an Artwork for "Culture - International Herb" could not be found warning message.
Alternatively, is there some function where I can apply the album art for the album that I am currently viewing in the iTunes Store to tracks selected in iTunes?  (if this feature doesn't exist, it would be great if Apple added it)
    Thanks.

I always thought it was just Artist + Album, but if the tracks are out of order or the durations are too different, it is possible that it is seeing it as a different version = no match.
It will be faster to find the image from another source (thanks web search) and just drag or paste it into the Album Info panel.

  • How do i delete specific albums from my ipad

i am trying to delete specific albums from my ipad , but i does not let me do so , please help !!!

  • 160gb classic crashes when selecting specific album

Infuriatingly my ipod's decided to crash whenever I try to pick a certain album. One of a few things will happen; the ipod will straight up freeze on the song list for that album, each song will be 'played' in the album (by which I mean each will last 0 seconds before skipping onto the next song which also has no content and so on), or the track will stay on zero seconds and then also nothing else will play until I reset the **** thing. I've tried restoring it already and I've got the most up to date software accoridng to itunes. Said album also plays perfectly fine in itunes, and indeed has done on this ipod previously.

    *Skipping songs*
The iPod seems to fail to play all of the occasional track that iTunes, and indeed other PMPs, are happy to play. There is probably some minor technical error in the internal structure of the file which is normally ignored by other playback software but causes the Classic to bail out. Usually this just skips the song but occasionaly the iPod can lock up or reset.
You may like to try scanning the files with MP3 Validator which can find & fix some internal MP3 errors.
Some users have also suggested that completely removing all id3 tags and then replacing the information can be a solution. This can be achieved in iTunes by selecting an affected track, right/option clicking and using the option Convert id3 tags > None. Since some files may mistakenly have more than one tag you may need to repeat this action. Once you have confirmed that no tag is present you can replace the tag information using Convert id3 tags > V2.3 (I believe it is recommended to avoid using V2.4).
Personally I've have found files for which these solutions don't work. In this case the workaround is either to re-rip the tracks or get iTunes to re-encode the file, e.g. convert AAC to MP3 or vice versa and sync the newly encoded file to the iPod instead. Because transcoding will cause a loss of fidelity you should keep your original file so that if a future iPod firmware resolves this issue you can put your original files back onto the iPod.

  • IPhoto crashing one specific Book Project

    hi,
On the mac yosemite 10.10.1 and iphoto 9.6.
I just finished this one specific Book Project. Last thing I did was to change the map theme to the last one in the second row. This moment iPhoto crashed for the first time. Since then I was not able to open the project again because iPhoto is crashing every time I try to open this project.
It is not crashing on other projects, libraries or albums.
I already restarted the computer and restarted iPhoto several times.
I invested a lot of time so I will appreciate your help in getting back access to it.
    kind regards,
    Anna

    Give this a try:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down to open the First Aid window. Be sure to follow the circled recommendation in the screenshot.
    2 - run Option #4, Rebuild Database.
If this doesn't restore the book I doubt if there's anything the Genius bar can do to recover it thru the database files.  You may not even be able to delete the corrupted book as just clicking on it to delete may crash iPhoto.  If that happens you can either try creating a new book in the library or the following:
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.>Click on the Add Library button,
2 -  select the library you want to add from those in the selection window.
3 - make sure that in the rebuild window the checkbox  "Scavange orphaned photos" is checked.
4 - now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the Library ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
5 - in the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed. Click on the Create button.
Note 1: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments. However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost.
Note 2:  Your current library will be left untouched for further attempts at a fix if so desired.
The above will take less time than taking your MacBook Pro into the Apple store. But that's just my take of the Genius bar when it comes to iPhoto libraries.
Also you should strongly consider implementing a backup strategy ASAP.  If you don't you can count on losing file sometime in the future either from a software crash or a hardware failure, i.e. drive crash.  The easiest backup strategy to implement is to get  an external hard drive  and use Time Machine to backup your entire boot drive. Time Machine comes with every Mac and is located in the Applications folder.

    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Two of the same artists showing up on my ipod when I add 1 specific album

OK so here's what's happening.  I downloaded a rolling stones album "Let It Bleed," off the internet.  And I made a file for it, put the songs in the file, and put the file in itunes. So I have ALL the songs, album artwork etc in itunes, but the songs were out of order. SO... I looked it up, saw that fixing the track listing on each song when you hit "Get Info" on a specific song, would put the song in the correct space. So I numbered all the songs, 1-9, ON ITUNES!  THEN... I TRANSFERRED the album to my ipod, and guess what happened?  Well, all the songs showed up correctly, numbered and all, with everything I had intended. But after I transferred the album, it showed under artists, The Rolling Stones, TWO OF THE SAME ONE!  TWO ROLLING STOnes with the same songs and albums.  And when I deleted one song from one artist, it deleted it from the second artist too..... and before i put the track listings down for each song on the album, it worked! I could transfer the album no problem except that the songs weren't in order. But as soon as i numbered the songs, it double the artist Rolling Stones, ON MY IPOD ONLY! Not on itunes or my computer! So I need ACCURATE AWESOME HELPFUL GLORIOUS SAVING ANSWERS that will help me fix this problem.  THANK YOU I REALLY NEED THIS ALBUM PROPERLY ON MY IPOD BY TOMORROW SINCE I'M GOING ON A CAR TRIP

    Hello samanthaflora
If you see a cloud option, then you have the option of Show All Music turned on. If you go to Settings > Music and look for that option, you can turn it off to not show any of your purchased history to show up in the Music App. Try that and then sync the music again to see if it still shows up as double.  If it is, then could you take a screen shot and add it to the reply so that way we can see what you are describing to better assist you.
