Crashes on Startup and to the best of my knowledge, unfixable.

Its a random chance at the start of a random day that it crashes on startup, freeze then crash. The only plugins i have installed are Java and Shockwave flash. I tried every method possible to the best of my knowledge but nothing worked. Eventually it let me back on, but it is still annoying regardless, as it happens nearly every time i start up Firefox.

In most cases you can simply "upgrade" (meaning downgrade) directly from the installation. It would be a good idea to save your passwords & bookmarks just to be on the safe side.

Adobe Premiere CS5 Crashes at startup and cannot update

My Premiere pro CS5 keeps crashing at startup and I tried to update it but it says “inapplicable” and won’t allow update....
I tried uninstalling as well but still doesnt work....

For the first issue, try this:
Go to the following locations
Location 1: When in Finder, click on Go > Go to Folder > ~/Library/Application Support/Adobe
Location 2: Go > Go to Folder > ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe
Location 3: Documents > Adobe
In all the locations, rename the 'Adobe' folders to 'OldAdobe'
Launch Premiere, accept the License Agreement and see if it works.
Note: You will lose your customized workspaces and keyboard shortcuts.
For the second issue, try this:
If you succeed to launch Premiere Pro, Go to Help > Updates and try to update from there. If you are not able to launch Premiere Pro and have any other CS5 app such as After Effects, open that and go to Help > Updates and see if you are able to update from there.

Finder crashes on startup after copying the whole drive

I've just replaced my old internal HD on my laptop for one that is twice larger. I've used Carbon Copy Cloner while the old disk was still the internal one and the new one was connected via USB. Once it was done, I booted from the new HD via USB to check that everything was OK, and then I swapped drives. After that, when I boot with the new hard drive, Finder crashes on startup and then works fine. That happens only with my user account. If I boot via USB with the old drive, everything it OK.
Any suggestions of why this may happen?

It sounds like Carbon Copy Cloner missed a file or two that are necessary for proper booting. Cloning software of various versions have difficulty with metadata, as well as backing up data of files that are open while they are backing up. Backing up while in safe mode or Target Disk Mode avoids some of those issues. Backing up while preventing any system modification software from running at the same time as a backup will also avoid those issues. Ensuring you are using the correct version of the backup software for your system version is also important. If you feel you have followed all these steps and are still having difficulty, contact Carbon Copy Cloner's developer and inform them that you think they have a bug in their software.

I bought Time Capsule specifically to back up my computer at work. Only my computer. There are many computers within my department. I completed the steps the best of my knowledge but was unsure of which option to click. I clicked "I want to create a new wireless network". At the onset the instructions said I needed to connect with an ethernet cable, which I did. But I have no desire to connect to the internet, print from it, or have others access. I did deselect guest options, and I did put in passwords. But at the end of the process I got the message, "This device & its network services will be temporarily unavailable. Are you sure you want to continue."
I was worried this would shut me down and I wouldn't be able to continue to work. I don't necessarily need to connect wirelessly. It is connected via ethernet cable from machine to device.
Can you advise me how to continue? Did I choose the wrong options?

I bought an external hard drive called "Seagate Backup Plus" From the Apple store to back up everything on my computer and anything new on my computer. It came with Time Machine. The external hard drive disk had 1 or 2 Terabytes. Time Machine says "next backup: When disk is connected." "Oldest backup: July 2, 2014." & Also "Latest back July, 2."

Yes, it's annoying but the messages are innocuous and you may ignore them. They will be repeated every time you repair permissions. The ARD client was installed by Software Update at some point in the past.
You don't need to repair permissions unless you've received a permissions error message from OS X.

Acrobat 9 crashes on startup - is it the java, or the fonts, or?

Another MacPro in the room is experiencing crashes on startup of Acrobat 9, which was part of CS5. It was set to bypass the startup screen, so I don't know what it's trying to do when it dies. Here's what I did:
Uninstall, then reinstall. I started it up and it seemed fine: opened files, changed preferences. Then I reinstalled a set of plugins we use from Heidelberg - PDF Toolbox. And I couldn't open Acrobat after that. I remembered we had another problem because the OS was 10.6.x, and Heidelberg claimed that version of Java was too new for the version of their software that we use. We reverted to 10.5.8 for the MacPros that do most of that work. The MacPro with the crashes uses 10.6.8. I thought that a conflict between Java versions might be causing this issue also.
So I uninstalled the plugins, uninstalled Acrobat, used Onyx to clean out caches, rebuild Launch Services and reset permissions; restarted the Mac, reinstalled Acrobat - but it still crashes on startup.
It was working (for quite a while), then it wasn't. It's not my machine so I don't know what changes were made recently. I'd appreciate guidance on what path to take to diagnose this. I've copied the beginning of the crash report below.

Uninstalling and Reinstalling is rarely the best solution. "Nuke and Pave" (erasing your entire drive and starting again) even less so!
The chances are that the application files were installed properly and the fault is not with them. (Well, replacing them with identical copies won't help.)
First thing to do is to delete the preferences relating to Acrobat in <user>/Library/Preferences.
Second thing is to create a brand new user account and test the problem there. If it works fine, then the cause is something in your original user account's Library, such as another preference file or cache. It might also be caused by some Login Items that load at startup in the original user account, which are incompatible in some way.
If the problem still occurs in the new account, then your problem is system-wide, and may relate to a software conflict with some other software. Third-party plug-ins for Acrobat are a good start: remove them and seem if it works.
You will need to look through the entire crash log for clues. References to third-party software; repeated use of terms like USB -- this might give you some indication, so remove that software; remove all peripherals except Apple mouse and keyboard.
Acrobat 9 should work fine on 10.6.8. So there must be something else at work.

[SOLVED] kdeinit4 crashing on startup (and a few other new installat..

I have just switched from openSuSE to ArchLinux, and needless to say, am a bit disappointed as to why I didn't make the switch before. ArchLinux is just pure awesome and everything seems to be working fine after a mile of manual readings and tweaking around configuration files. There are just a few issues I'm facing:
1. kdeinit4 crashes on startup: I get a KCrash dialog which says that it has crashed. The title says 'The KDE Daemon has crashed'. This is the backtrace I was able to generate from that: http://pastebin.com/L7C9iwPY
2. KDE does not store any session data: I don't like those pesky launchers on my plasma panel (the one with the taskbar and all), so I removed them. But after the reboot, they reappear. I have to remove them every session. With yakuake, I have to change the height and width of the console at every reboot, as it just switched back to the default values at every session start. Some settings do seem to persist though, for example, I have my plasma panel set at the top screen edge. This stays the same for every reboot. I have a feeling this problem has something to do with the KDE daemon crashing.
3. Nepomuk keeps on crashing: I keep on getting this notification error on startup: http://imgur.com/PyGpQ
Other than this, everything seems to work with my laptop.

Also, for now to solve the problem, I am making kdeinit not play any notification sounds. Since phonon-vlc is crashing KDE applications (from a look around the web, it is not only kdeinit that is crashing due to the phonon-vlc bug), this must be when it tries to play some media, which obviously is the startup notifications.
Go to System Settings > Application and System Notifications > Player Settings and select 'No Audio Output'. Works for me.
Or one can just switch to phonon-gstreamer, but in that case banshee and rhythmbox crash for no reason while trying to play media.
Now KDE is storing session data [was a huge problem since I could not use custom power management profiles.. pretty difficult with a laptop], but Nepomuk is still crashing. Not really buying the whole semantic desktop thing.. so just going to live with it till an update resolves it

Firefox crashes on startup and we've tried all your solutions but none work

Firefox crashes when I double click the icon. I have gone through all the fixes on the website with no improvement. I am able to get it to open only when I right click and use the run as administrator option. I have reinstalled firefox, changed profiles, and tried safe mode option. All had the same effect firefox crashed on startup. I have run four different malware removal programs and restarted the computer, still crashes. I also ran my antivirus program last night and still crashes. I turned off the firewall and still crashes. I tried also the reset option in troubleshooting options but still crashes. Firefox worked fine till yesterday then java updated and the crashes started occurring, I have also done a system restore to before java updated but still crashes.

Finder constantly crashes at startup and dock apps dont start

So everything was running quite well yesterday when apart from running chrome, notes, and vuse, i tried to resumed my vmfusion session and then it suddenly disappeared and then the machine started beachballing which was followed by a finder crash which left me with just my desktop image on the screen and nothing else. After a hard restart, the desktop came back but without any of the icons normally on the desktop and when i wanted to open up an app from the dock, the icon disappeared although the name (for example system preferences) remained. all the functionalities like spotlight and wifi at the top get highlighted but dont work, and then finder crashes again to just show the desktop image and nothing else.
This has happened over and over, no matter if I started it in safe mode, repaired permissions, or even reinstalled snow leopard. I don't know what else I can do since it wont even let me start or open any apps or folders. I feel it was a problem with vmfusion messing up with the kernel but am not certain.

But the colors from img2 does not match with those from img1.
I guest that it uses a default 256 colors, instead of extracting colors from original images.
I read about a intermediate conversion to CS_CIEXYZ color space and then to an output colorspace, but i don't now how to code it.
Clould provide an example of how to do this?

don't now how to code it.I don't think that's going to help, because I bet your original ColorSpace is sRGB and so will be the ColorSpace of the IndexColorModel.
1. You are right, the colors used with TYPE_BYTE_INDEXED are default colors. Here is a snippet from the source code:

Firefox crashes on startup and prompts me to enter Safemode. I then uninstalled it (version 19.0) and now Safemode itself will not open.

Prior to attempting to uninstall version 19.0 and reinstall it, Safemode was working and usable. After reinstalling version 19.0 Firefox will crash during start up as it did before, and ask me to open in Safemode. Safemode will then crash/not open and the bug report service will open. Clicking "Restart" just opens up another bug report service windows on top of the first one. Clicking "X" or "Quit" does not, allowing me to exit the service window. Firefox's inability to be used properly began shortly after the latest windows update (installed during shutdown/next restart) around 1 AM on (I think) February 27th or 28th. I have not tried installing an older version. I did try to run the 20.0 Beta version, but I encountered the exact same problems. This is the only error code available to me, despite sending at least 5 or more. "bp-b4a3d0ce-8747-46a9-9c04-efc892130302"
This error code "bp-f6520eaa-36e4-4098-a2a0-c61c32130302" has replaced the previous one after I tested the 20.0 beta version.

hello, this crash is related to your graphics hardware & a recent windows update. please start firefox in safemode (by pressing the shift-key while it is launching) & go to ''firefox > options > advanced > general'' & disable hardware acceleration.
