Crashes to white screen and turns off

I installed Lion yesterday.
Very dissapponted there is NO DOCUMENTATION on the new features after installation.
But whats really wrong...
The machine worked fine before lunch.
I shut down when I left.
After lunch I started up, the machine started to draw my desktop, then the screen went white, and the machine turned off.
No every time I restart it does the same thing.
Great OS

If still problem try the remaiing items of:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

My iPod 4th gen was dead so I charged it, the apple sign appeared and stayed on the screen for about 10 minutes then went onto a blank white screen and turned off. Now I can't charge it and it has already happened multiple times. what should I do? I also don't know which iOS operating system it is, does that matter?

  • Iphone 3gs freezing/screen flashing between password screen and turning off timer. Any ideas what to do please?

can you help please? Phone having funny fit, screen flashing between password screen and turning off timer. Then screens merging.. Yuk!

    Hey kathlovesparis,
First, I would reset the device:
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
via: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430
And if that doesn't resolve the issue then I would backup the device to iTunes and restore it. Just be cautious and back up first, since restoring deletes all content and settings:

  • IPod shows red X on the screen and turns off by itself

my 80GB iPod was just sitting on my desk when all of a sudden it turned off. i tried turning it back on, the apple sign shows, then a big red "X" mark shows on the screen and below it shows a link to apple's support page - "www.apple.com/support/ipod".
I clicked everything i can and nothing happens, i plugged it in the computer and iTunes shows nothing. I tried reseting it many times but it'll just show the same red X and turn off again... is my ipod broken for good or can i fix this?

Hey, I had the same problem and did everything I could think of to fix it (apple store, resetting it, draining the charge). Then I started freaking out because I didn't want to spend the money on a new hard drive or a new iPod. So I did a little searching and found this on another forum:
"Some times when you drop your ipod the lens inside skips. (kinda like a record player) reset your ipod by holding the middle and menu button until you hear clicking. then with one hand hold the ipod firmly and hit the side of it onto the PALM of your other hand. Sometimes this jumps the needle back into place but not all the time."
I didn't drop mine like mentioned ablove, it just happened, but I've been frustrated and was going to try anything to not spend another $200+. I used the palm method, and it didn't work. But then I hit the side of the ipod on the ground (carpet of course) about two or three times. It made a funny noise and then turned on and started working like before. What a relief. Hope this helps.

  • White screen computer turns off

my macbook 2.16 intel duo running 10.6.8 has been turning itself off with a white screen, this follows weeks of fan noise that has now stopped. I have done all the basics and the hardrive is fine according to disc utility and tech tool all checks passed, I have it under ventilated the battery seems OK. Done the PRAM, safe mode, SMC reset battery thing ????

I'm afraid there's no other source of AHT as it's tailored to each model.
You can try calling Apple Customer Services and see if they can still burn you a replacement pair of discs. You'll need the serial no. of the mac and a credit card handy.
Alternatives are the likes of Tech Tool Pro, but we're talking €90-€100.
    It is downloadable, though.

  • N95 white screen then turn off

    Hello!
I have a Nokia N95 with the following problem : when you want the phone to turn on, in displays a white screen for a short time then it turns off. Is this a software problem? Or a more serious hardware problem?

Good news, V35.2.001 seems to be a happy build on my N95-3, no strange keyboard errors, etc. as reported with V35 elsewhere in the forums.
Now my phone seems to spend more time on the 3G network, as opposed to 2.5G, which unfortunately for me can mean that this phone reports "Connection error" and can't make a call, whereas another mobile operator in the same location can call quite happily on their own 2.5G network. (Battery life seems a little shorter because of this too.)
It's too bad that the options for switching between "Dual Mode" and "GSM" are buried so deep in the N95 menu in the Tools -> Settings -> Phone -> Network -> "Network Mode" field...is there any way to make a one-press shortcut directly to that location?
My phone now also seems to forget the WEP key for my WLAN a lot...I am often re-entering the WEP key.
Otherwise, no complaints & no spontaneous white-screen reboots....except that my phone is pretty empty right now.
Thank you Fender77 & uzy3l for your advice. I followed Fender77's update routine..It was a good thing to put the extra soft reset back in, b/c after the first welcome reboot of my phone I accidentally chose my location as (top of the list) Afghanistan--oops! I don't live there....
The one thing is that Ovi Suite reported that the update process failed....on closer inspection, Ovi Suite was telling me that the restore failed. In reality, the phone was updated just fine, it is just empty & fresh.
I lost my 3rd-party apps and haven't had a chance to search for them again. My Contacts are also empty b/c I haven't yet tried to restore them from Ovi, b/c earlier when I backed them up Ovi lumped a bunch of my contacts from 2 phones together, and maybe I would have preferred to keep them separate. Haven't made the effort to restore pictures....maybe I'll just go forward and snap new ones.
Thanks very much for helping me understand about installing apps on a memory card & the consequences. I had not intentionally stored anything on a memory card, but it seems for some things (e.g.. voices)  Nokia does automatically.
    Thank you!

  • Late 2011 model display problems: white screen and shuts off on its own

A few days ago my macbook pro (late 2011 model) starting going nuts. The screen would turn white or become pixelated all the sudden, even if all i'm running is Chrome. The laptop is not over heated. This is what would happen:
Screen goes white or become pixilated
Computer shuts off on its own after a moment
Attempt to reboot, stuck on apple logo screen (pixilated)
Shuts off on its own again
The only way to reboot is through safe mode.
I've tried resetting SMC and running an apple hardware check.

It's most likely the macbook pro 2011 denied by apple GPU problem many many others suffer from too.

  • Iphone 5 keeps getting blue screen and turning off, and wont go bk on

my iphone 5 keeps getting blue screen, turning off and not going bk on for a few hours then it comes on ive reset phone  works then it starts doing same problem over again

    Hey there aussiekris,
It sounds like your phone is unexpectedly turning off. I suggest the troubleshooting steps outlined in this article named:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts2802
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Sterling

    Hello Kierasully,
I would start your troubleshooting with the article below for issues of not being able to log in to your Mac. Start with booting up in to Safe Boot as well as resetting PRAM on your Mac. If that does not work, then verify the hard drive with booting to the Recover HD and go to Disk Utility to verify it.

    Hello KCC4ME,
You may try booting your Mac in Safe Boot, as it can resolve many issues that may prevent a successful login.
OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1564
If a Safe Boot allows you to successfully log in, you may have issues with one or more login itmes (while the following article is labelled as a Mavericks article, it is viable for earlier versions of the Mac OS, as well).

  • How do i fix my ipod touch 4th gen when the apple logo appears and then a whit screen comes up and turns off and it wont charge and it wont connect to itunes

My ipod touch 4th gen is a having a few problems with charging and turning on, my ipod comes up with the  extremely low on power symbol and then i put it into my computer and it comes up with the charging symbol then it goes to the apple logo and then onto a blank white screen and then turns off and repeats that process i have tried various things including resetting my ipod trying to connect it to itunes but it doesnt come up with anything so i cant reset it on itunes and have tried various charging devices.

Tried it but it won't do anything all it does is make the screen do a very small flash of white and then continues doing the same thing appearing with apple logo then the white screen and off and keeps repeating that
I'm guessing the white small flash means it's been reset when I hold the 2 buttons down,
    Thanks for suggesting.
