Crashing after Clean Installation Yosemite 10.10.3
Hello guys, I ve a problem since I installed Yosemite 10.10.3 (clean installation). I had the oldest version of Yosemite but when 10.10.3 released I decided to make a clean installation. After a few days I got the first crash and a few minutes ago got the newest. I'm very disappointed because I use Mac OS X 1.5 years now and it's the first time my system crashes. I don't know how to resolve this problem. The only thing I did was a Hardware Test that was fine and a Hard Disk Verification that was also fine. I'll post both of the reports and I'd like your opinion.

Everything keeps freezing/crashing after Mavericks installation on MacBook Pro
Everything keeps freezing/crashing after Mavericks installation on MacBook Pro.
It started with Photoshop, then Safari, and now the Kinect sensor.
Mavericks is the worse thing that happened to me I have a thesis project to work on!
What can I do?
How can I remove Mavericks and go back to Mountain Lion?
ThanksHey StephSassine,
First, I would run through these steps:
Your computer’s startup disk may not have enough free disk space. To make disk space available, you can move files to another disk and then delete files you no longer need on the startup disk:
Increase disk space
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10677
If that doesn't work, you may need to repair your computer’s disk in Disk Utility:
Choose Apple menu > Software Update to make sure you have the latest version of Mac OS X.
Software updates sometimes change a file’s permissions to improve security, so updating your software can solve some permissions problems.
Open Disk Utility, in the Utilities folder in Launchpad.
Select the disk you want to check.
Click First Aid.
Click Repair Disk Permissions to test and repair permissions.
via: Disk Utility 12.x: Repair disk permissions
http://support.apple.com/kb/PH5821
If that doesn't help resolve the issue, you can revert to a previous OS X version:
OS X Mavericks: Revert to a previous OS X version

Aperture doesn't open after clean installation of Mountain Lion
I have just done a clean installation of mountain lion.
After that, I have downloaded my copy of aperture from the store and installed it ( i think, just becase when done, at the store says that it is installed )
But when I try to launch aperture from de applications menu, an error appears and aperture quits immediatelly. The error says that, "an error has occurred. You should reinstall aperture or could be your operating system is not supported", more or less, translating it from the Spanish.
I have been searching for the installed files with finder, but nothing seems to be installed at the hard disk. Even the library that tipically appears at the Pictures folder doesn't appear.
Could somebody help me, please?
kind regards to everybody. Many thanks for your answer.

Macbook keeps crashing after update to Yosemite
Hi,
My mid 2010 Macbook Pro crashed about 8 times today after I installed Yosemite.
By crash I mean that it simply shuts down, restarts, shows the Grey "Your computer restarted because of a problem" screen, then immediately restarts again. In most cases I did not even get to see the crash report, the one that came up is attached below.
The fan is going all the time too, at a fairly high rate which it has never done before. The Activity monitor shows that the process "launchd" is continiously at 70% CPU usage, which might be normal or not - I don't know...
I removed most of my startup items but still no luck.
I would be very grateful for any ideas!
Thanks!
Valentin

Thunderbolt Bus:This is happening to us too. I've upgraded 2 MBPs, an iMac, and our Mac Mini and it's happening frequently on the Mac Mini. The problem is that there's seemingly no recipe for reproducing this. It'll happen 4 times over 4 days and then nothing for a week. I've tested the RAM with Rember and the modules are fine.
I have all energy saver features disabled so I'm not sure that this is the issue.
My family is out of town next week so I may just do a fresh install on the mini and see where that gets me. We just use it as our media server so there's not a ton of software to reinstall. -

Hi, unfortunately I've had no luck with attempting to fix my FF install. Here is what I've done so far.
* Multiple clean installs, including removal of all files/history. Relocating any remaining directory files.
* Update NVidia video driver package, Windows totally up to date
* Virus and malware scans, came up empty
* Tried safe mode, wont launch gets crashes.
Below are a few of my crash report IDs:
bp-11e180e8-cad1-4f49-bb96-4201d2130708

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.
BCWhilst I do not personally understand the detail of the Crash Report the title alone suggests to me that it is a problem related to Firefox initialising or loading plugins.
It is not necessary to have Firefox running to use Firefox's safemode that can be done from a commandline option or often by holding the shift key as Firefox starts.
*[[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode]]
Try to get Firefox to start in Firefox's safe mode from within Windows safemode. <br />Does that work to at least start Firefox ?
*If not what if any error messages do you get?

No Sound after clean installation of windows 7 from Vista
I had a problem with vista on my Hp dv6809wm laptop. My sound driver kept deleting itself and when I would do a system recovery it suddely worked again, but only for a short while. Eventually it stopped working entirely. Then my next step was an HP driver recovery, which also worked a couple times but then stopped. After a couple weeks I decided to purchase Windows 7 through my school and do a "clean" installation to wipe out everything and start fresh. Well when I finally got done, my sound still doesnt work, and im still getting the red x over the sound icon, I have no sound driver. HP support has no sound drivers for my computer for windows 7 or HP, only 3 for vista, I have tried them all and I get different error messages each time, usually saying driver not found (isnt that the point of downloading it?) or it will say cannot find media something. I have no idea what to do. Please help
There is posibilily for hardware problem, broken sound chip in particular.
Backup all of your data and try HP system recovery, choose factory installed setting.
It will restored all software and drivers as "new" condition.
If it does not fix the sound problem, 100% you have hardware problem.
Installing Win7 wont fix it.

System crash after patch installation
After the installation of some actual patches the system crashes. I've a SUN Solaris 5.8 installed on a ultra sparc machine. I heard about a patch that leads to a system crash if there are not sysc. mirrors. Does anyone know this patch?
It was'nt possible to send an E-Mail at Noel.del@Rosario
For that reason here is the patch listing:

I have done clean installation of Windows 8.1 on my HP Pavilion G4.
Then I realize that I cannot put my computer on sleep mode and cannot adjust screen brightness.
I understand that those problems caused by the graphic card driver.
My computer is running on AMD Radeon HD 6400 series.
Thus, I manually search on internet and found a latest graphic card update on microsoft site that is claimed compatible on windows 8.1 (link: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/apps/dn344644.aspx).
I've upgraded it into the latest one. I've check on Device Manager, the driver is running well.
But my problem did not solved!
Please give me the solution!Hi,
How about go to Device Manager, then uninstall Graphic driver and restart your computer, system will install its build in graphic drver. You can have a try.
In addition, access to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Brightness and set its value to 100 for test.

Satellite A300-D 21W keeps crashing after clean windows7 x64 istallation
I have just bought Toshiba laptop with Vista, and I have tried to make a clean installation of Windows 7 x64. However, when restarting a blue screen appears. I then run the restore feature and I', back at the beginning. It only seems to happen whenever I upgrade my system using Windows Update! It's very annoying.
Can anyone help, please.
Regards,
StephanI think that I have fixed the problems now. My thoughts were also that it was probably something with the drivers (monitor, sound etc.) So I went to toshibas homepage for drivers anf found my exact model, and manually downloaded and installed every single driver. It took ages as I had to restart several times! But it is working like a charm now, so I'm happy. So I would advise averyone to manually install the drivers.

Permissions errors after clean installation of 10.7.2
hey, I'm sorry for the length of this thread.
after upgrading to Lion (via mac app store) from the newest snow leopard, the system's performance had become worst.
then, i decided to back up all of my files manually and do a clean install making a lion 10.7.2 bootable DVD from the .dmg file I purchased, and converting a USB flash drive to the lion recovery disk assistant.
I decided not to back up anything (including user) using time machine and migration assisnant.
after finishing with this process I've created a new administrator user and verified and repaired disk & permissions, and then moved back all of my data from an external HDD. putting everything back to place where it was before formatting, and changing all of the system preferences, apple software (iTunes, Safari, iPhoto, Finder) one by one.
of course, software updates, restarts.
I've done a few things that I might shoudn't do:
copying the entire 'Music' folder of my user with all of its contents like 'iTunes Library Extras.itdb', 'iTunes Library Genius.itdb', 'iTunes Library.itl', 'iTunes Music Library.xml'.
after that I also did itunes file > import playlist > Library.xml (which i exported to external HDD before formatting).
unfortunately, something has got very wrong with this process. now these brand new awful issues came up:
1. everytime after logging in/restarting, it seems like the Finder 'doesn't remember' the changes i have made. and I have to manually change it back:
- menu bar is going back to default (brings back BlueTooth and Time Machine's icons, for example)
- the dock comes back to the default (only apple apps in the specific order, the stock icon beside the trash comes back to be Documents, etc.)
- expose gestures are disabled again (like the default)
2. repeatedly, every time when opening iTunes i see the Software License Agreement, scroll down, agree and iTunes refreshes itself to the default pref (with the ping window and 'iTunes Tutorials' splash screen, prefs like "prevent devices from syncing automatically" are disabled again etc.)
the itunes album artwork screensaver says - there are no album artworks in your itunes library.
3. on Safari, it basicly does the same as with itunes. 'forgets' all the changes. (bookmarks, bookmarks bar is reverted to the default apple, yahoo, googlemaps, forgets the homepage).
4. iphoto - 'iphoto has detected inconsistencies in your library' every time.
Then, with DU i performed a permissions verify:

Permissions repair complete
after the repair i did verify again and nothing has really changed.
I'm confuses. what have gone wrong with the permissions, libraries, .plists or account...
it does work better then before the formatting in terms of stabillity (safari used to crash a lot, left click menu is faster now, restarting also)
but of course, I can't live with the fact the system doesn't remember anything I do and acts almost like 'new' everytime I open an app or restart.
is it reversible, repairable, fixable, or should I go with the last preffered option on backing up everything from the Carbon Copy Cloner user.sparseimage I have created before formatting, and maybe revert everithing back, with all of the pros and cons?
Thank you for reading this.
have a nice one
AvihaI had a similar problem with my Mid-2010 MBP after upgrading to LION and using Target Disk Mode wherein I simply dragged and dropoped my I-tunes Library from my other MBP to the newly updated one. I began getting the same permission error messages when using DU. The problem lies in the UIagent.app as indicated in the log. The ONLY way to correct this problem I found after literally weeks of heartache was to restore my MBP to factory settings and reinstall my apps and OSX in this way, EXACTLY this way: Yes, it may be regarded as overkill to most, but I guarantee that you will be saving yourself umpteen amounts of time and frustration blindly throwing a dart hoping to hit the bullseye. Please read and print this page before you begin.
1. reset PRAM click here to learn how to reset PRAM
2. COMPLETE format hard drive and reinstall of my ORIGINAL Operating System (using the grey installation disks provided to me when i bought the computer).:
Put your install DVD into the optical drive and reboot. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option key until the Install Disk shows up). That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Just press theReturn key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window.Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. You should see your hard drive in the left hand column along with your other drives.
Click on the drive and select the Erase tab. Set the format value to Mac OS Extended (Journaled) and click the Erase button. After that has finished select the Partition tab. Type in aName for your hard drive and select how many partitions you want from the Volume Scheme. The usual setting is one partition. Click on the Options button after you've selected apartition to make sure it's set for GUID. Then click the Apply button and after the Partitioning is done quitDisk Utility. You can now follow the instructions on the install screen and install your Operating System (Snow Leopard). DO NOT MIGRATE ANY DATA OR USE TIME MACHINE. INSTALL FROM THE ORIGINAL DISKS ONLY.
After OSX Install, Insert your Applications Install DVD Disk and install.
Now run Software Update from the Apple Menu and update and Install any Updates.
3: Then BEFORE upgrading to LION and BEFORE migrating or copying any data to the new system via whatever source, you need to enable the Root User. But before you do this read here (and read it carefully) to leard about the "root" user.
4. After you are logged in as the Root user, you can now begin installing whatever Applications PACKAGES to your computer individually from either: A.) original cd/dvd install disk (recommended - if you have the disk, use it!), B.) Downloaded from the web (make sure you are using an ethernet/wired connection), C.) previously downloaded Application Package, or D.) by using Target Disk Mode via firewire connected to another Mac Apple doc.#58583. (DO NOT use time machine and do not drag and drop Applications to install - You can drag and drop the packages to the desktop and install but not by moving the wanted Applications Icon into the applications menu).
5. After you have the applications you want installed, run software update again and install any recommended updates.
6. Open Disk Utility and verify/repair the disk permissions. (if no issues are present, go to #7) You need to run repairs at least twice consecutively within the root account, restarting afterwards and logging in as Root again.
7. Open I-Tunes.Open Finder and move your I-Tunes library over by locating the Music folder which contains your music (i.e. /Users/**/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music). DO NOT move the Music folder that is present as a subfolder to the user you are logged in as (i.e.: /Users/**/Music). Make sure it's the folder "Music" that is a subfolder of "I-Tunes Media" which contains all the actual subfolders of your library (i.e.: /Users/jmebenton/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/30 Seconds to Mars). The Music folder indicated in my example is the one you should drag and drop into your I-Tunes Music Library in the Open I-Tunes window.
8. After your music transfers, Open Disk Utility and verify/repair the disk permissions AGAIN. (if no issues are present, try to repair the permissions anyway) You need to run repairs at least twice consecutively within the root account, restarting afterwards and logging in as Root again.
9. Now transfer any files or data you need. (DO NOT UPGRADE TO LION YET)
10. LOG OUT and LOG IN as an Administrator (not the Root "Other User").
11. Install LION
12. When LION is completely installed, restart and log-in as the Root user.
13. Open Disk Utility and verify/repair the disk permissions AGAIN. (if no issues are present, try to repair the permissions anyway) You need to run repairs at least twice consecutively within the root account, restarting afterwards and logging in as Root again.
14. Disable the root user
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Users & Groups.Open Users & Groups preferences
Click the lock icon to unlock it, and then type an administrator name and password.
In the Network Account Server section, click Edit.
Click Open Directory Utility.
Click the lock icon to unlock it, and then enter your administrator name and password.
Choose Edit > Disable Root User.
15. Now Log into your computer and ENJOY!!! -
Adobe Bridge crashing after updating to Yosemite
Adobe Bridge CC crashes my iMAC 27" forcing a restart since updating to Yosemite. This has happened over as many times i tried opening files in Adobe Bridge, by pressing spacebar by defult the images open fulllsceen but now imac restarts.
I have sent 4 times report to apple but no luck.

www.RobinSaini.comTry a restart.
Do a backup, using either Time Machine or a cloning program, to ensure files/data can be recovered. Two backups are better than one.
Try setting up another admin user account to see if the same problem continues. If Back-to-My Mac is selected in System Preferences, the Guest account will not work. The intent is to see if it is specific to one account or a system wide problem. This account can be deleted later.
Isolating an issue by using another user account
Try booting into the Safe Mode using your normal account. Disconnect all peripherals except those needed for the test. Shut down the computer and then power it back up after waiting 10 seconds. Immediately after hearing the startup chime, hold down the shift key and continue to hold it until the gray Apple icon and a progress bar appear and again when you log in. The boot up is significantly slower than normal. This will reset some caches, forces a directory check, and disables all startup and login items, among other things. When you reboot normally, the initial reboot may be slower than normal. If the system operates normally, there may be 3rd party applications which are causing a problem. Try deleting/disabling the third party applications after a restart by using the application un-installer. For each disable/delete, you will need to restart if you don’t do them all at once.

I upgraded from Mtn Lion to Yosemite a week ago, and shortly after the upgrade, Adobe Reader crashed.
I did an update to version 11.0.10; same result. Cleaned app from computer and after re-install, same result.
Sometimes Reader opens for a few seconds and then quits. Crash log is generated.
Help appreciated.

I purchase a refurbished 27 inch iMac 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5 with Mac OS 10.7.3 installed in September 2012. I got the free upgrade to Mountain Lion OS 10.8.2 shortly afterwards. In December 2012, the computer started crashing occasionally while watching videos on the web. It deteriorated to the point that the iMac would crash while it was on, but not being used at the moment of the crash. After calling Apple support, they suggested I take the machine into an Apple store to the Genius bar to have the hardware checked and tested.
I took it into the Apple store, and several diagnostic tests were run on the hardware of the computer. The technician told me the good new was nothing was wrong with the hardware. The bad news was the technician believed it was a software issue. He asked how I got all my data and applications on the computer. I told him I had used migration assistant with the back-up drive of my Mac Book Pro with Mac OS 10.5.8. He told me to never use Migration Assisitant or Transfer to get data or applications from an old computer to a new computer.
Why is this even suggested in the set up process by Apple if it can cause issues? I have owned various Apple computers since my first Mac SE in 1984. I have always used Migration Assistant to upgrade from an old computer, and never had any problems. Thanks for the heads up, Apple!
AS suggested, I cleaned my iMac hard drive completely with Disk utilities. I originally had partitioned my 1 TB drive to have a boot up for the existing OS 10.7 Lion, and another partition for the new Mac OS 10.8 Mountain Lion. This was suggested by Apple Support. I wanted to be sure I liked the new Mountain Lion, and that all my applications would continue to work. I was unable to erase the partitions before reinstalling the OS software from the Recoverry disk. I wanted to reinstall the OS and my data on the Imac the way it was delivered (1 single TB partition) when purchased. With the help of Apple Support, I was able to erase the partions, but had to reinstall the OS from internet recovery. The internet recovery process installed the original OS 10 .7. I decided to install Mountain Lion 10.8.2 before getting all my data and applications copied to the iMac. I used my Mountain Lion Flash drive install disk to do the upgrade.
Than as suggested by the Genius bar Technician, I created 2 new folders on my desktop. One folder was to copy applications from my back up drive, and the other was to copy all my data (music, pictures, doccuments etc.). The technician told me this could eliminate problems by moving everything by hand not any application to empty desktop folders first before putting items in their correct folder on the iMac hard drive.
After finishing copying all the items from back up, I moved the applications from the desktop folder (named applications from BU) into the hard drive application folder. I tested all the applications to be sure thay would open. Some had multiple user issues, and Photoshop cs4 wouldn't open or reinstall from the original downloaded .dmg. I contacted Adobe support to see what to do about Photoshop.
I was getting ready to follow Adobe's fix instructions, and the iMac crashed again just as before. The Genius Bar technician said a "kernal" message was what the error display was called. After starting the computer, I took a "picture" of the crash report before sending it to Apple. All my data (music, pictures, doccuments etc.) I copied from my back up drive remains in a folder (Doccuments From BU) on my desktop. I have not even bothered to boot up the iMac the last few days. I'm hoping it doesn't crash before I post this message.
Below is a list of the applications from my back up drive that I have moved from the desktop folder to the Application folder:
Adobe Bridge CS4 (Version 3.0.0.464)
Adobe CS 4 (No Version, won't open, reinstall of software failed.)
Disk Warrior (Version 4.4)
Jawbone Updater (No Version, need to plug in Bluetooth speaker to get update for speaker software)
Microsoft Office 2011 (Can't open, need to update multple users permission)
Quicken 2007_Lion Version (Version 16.1.2)
Turbo Tax (for 2006 - 2011)
To say I am tired of investing all my time and energy doing all of the above work on a computer that I bought only 4 months ago is an understatement!!! I do not enjoy spending what little free time I have trouble shooting an expensive recently puchased item that is supposed to make my life easier.
As I stated earlier, I have only owned Apple Computers since 1984. I supported all their products based on their innovative, trouble free operating systems, and the reliability and stability of their hardware. This frustrating experience is changing my opinion. I'm wondering if the company should consider changing their name to another fruit ... Lemon. Maybe, the operating system should be called Lemon and Mountain Lemon.
Any help or suggestions to fix this "crash" problem would be greatly appreciated!Hi, one question & one suggestion...
What possible things are connected at home but not at the store, inlude every cable, etc.
One way to test is to Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, Test for problem in Safe Mode...
PS. Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive
Reboot, test again.
If it only does it in Regular Boot, then it could be some hardware problem like Video card, (Quartz is turned off in Safe Mode), or Airport, or some USB or Firewire device, or 3rd party add-on, Check System Preferences>Accounts>Login Items window to see if it or something relevant is listed.
Check the System Preferences>Other Row, for 3rd party Pref Panes.
Also look in these if they exist, some are invisible...

Apple apps crashing after clean install
After having massive problems with fast user switching I did a complete clean install of my system a few months ago. Worked fine at first, but after a while I began to experience new problems.
Here's the pattern: after I power on and boot up and open a few applications, within the first 10 minutes one of the apps will hang up with the spinning beach ball. In Force Quit the app is "not responding", so I force quit. The app disappears from the list, but is still showing as running in the dock and the app's window is still visible. I return to Force Quit, the app is back on the list and still "not responding", force quit a second time and then the program closes. From there, the other programs won't respond, and when I try to restart everything closes and it gets down to the point of the menu bar disappearing but won't complete the restart. I have to press the power button, forcing the shutdown. I power back up, and everything works properly now. Once I eventually shut the computer down, though, this whole chain of events repeats itself every time I power back up.
The one common thread is that it's always an Apple app that crashes...I've had it happen with the Finder, TextEdit, iCal, Mail, Safari, Address Book, and Logic Pro. Sometimes there's a Rescued Items folder in the trash with a file from the crashed app, sometimes not.
I did the usual troubleshooting (repaired permissions, ran DiskWarrior), even tried installing the 10.4.8 update again from the combo updater, made no difference.
What's going on here? (and please don't suggest to just leave it powered on all the time...)
Thanks,
MikeThanks for the further suggestions.
I ran a hardware test, and everything comes out fine. The only change to my setup over the last year has been swapping out the one hard drive, which is mostly a storage archive and would not be causing these problems.
Looking at the crash log for Logic, here is a consistent problem that must be from the kernel panics that happen intermittently when quitting Logic Audio:
