Crashing, disk errors and iPod not working!

For a while now my mac keeps on crashing. It's done so in a variety of ways, the most common being the screen becomes dulled with the message on top saying I need to restart my computer. I also had a weird occassion when the screen went purple/pink and grey and gradually changed and got darker until it eventually switched itself off.
On different occassions I have verified the permissions. Sometimes there are no errors. Often there are errors but with different programs everytime. I always repair these errors.
Yesterday I verified my disk and there was an error. When I went to repair it using my Install disk it said the error could not be repaired.
My iPod does not properly sync with my computer either.
About 2 months ago I had to do an Archive and Install after a lot of my 3rd party programs simply failed to load.
I don't have a clue what to do, so any help would be greatly appreciated. My computer is still within its 1year warranty but I read that if its a software problem they'll charge me for fixing it.
Many Thanks.

Each time I have had to restart my computer I have copied the error report that appears once it is up and running again.
Below is the most recent of those reports:

    Hi
Try to run the tests below
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&docname=c01443317
If it passes then call Hp and let them know that the F11 recovery is not working and you would like to get recovery Disks they will send you the OS disks so that you can reinstall the OS back on to your unit.
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes and iPod not working with one account

    Hi
I have iTunes 9.0.1 running on 10.6.1 on a MBP and I have just bought a new 5th generation iPod Nano.
I have been trying to set up the iPod on my partner's account on my MBP. iTunes just freezes every time I plug in the iPod and needs a force quit. When I try to set it up on my account it is recognised straight away. I have also been able to set it up on a new account but I cannot find any way to stop iTunes freezing on my partner's account. Her account works perfectly otherwise.
Strangely the iPod is seen by the Mac OS on my partner's account in that I can browse it in finder and the icon appears on the desktop. It is just iTunes on this one account that does not work.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Any thoughts?

  • OIM after BP12 patch system error and logging not working

    Hi,
I am using Weblogic 10.3.2 and need to install OIM. I have installed the 9.1.0.1 and then the patchset to 9.1.0.2. Then I have installed the bundle patch BP07 and everything was ok.
Finally I have installed the BP12: now i am unable to log in the OIM admin panel ( system error ) and i cannot connect with the design console (NullPointerException). The worst part is that OIM does not write a log file anymore, so i can't determine what's wrong. What should i do?
    thx in advance

no errors, everything fine. The webapps (xellerate and nexaweb) are started normally.
As an additional information, i just tried to revert to BP07, it still doesn't work.

  • Itunes and Ipod not working

I am using my laptop this weekend to put songs from it on my iPod nano. The songs are in itunes but they will not go onto my iPod! What could be wrong? Thanks!
    Adina

    Hi,
Try Resetting iPod if it appears frozen or doesn't respond and if that doesn't work then try Restoring iPod to factory settings

  • I'm at a loss..itunes and ipod not working

I have had my music on itunes for quite some time. I went to play some music through itunes and the message I got was the song could not be played because the original could not be found. I have listened to the songs before and now it is giving me this message. I have 275 artists in itunes and I am only able to listen to 67. The other problem I have is I loaded some music onto itunes and only one out of the three transferred to my ipod.
Any help with these issues would be greatly welcomed

That message usually means that the songs have been either moved or deleted from the iTunes music folder, so iTunes can't access them. If you double click on one (as if to play it), you should see an ! by the song and a message asking if you would like iTunes to locate it.
At a guess, I would say that's probably the reason some songs have not transferred to the iPod. If iTunes cannot find them, it cannot transfer them.

  • Help Please!  Chemo patient needs to walk and iPod not working

iPod Nano (4th or 5th gen) operates perfectly and battery is fully charged when plugged into the Mac, but as soon as I disconnect, can't get it to turn on.  Is not in hold position and also tried reset.  Any ideas?  Thanks much!

It sounds like the battery is dead and in need of replacement.  You can have this done by Apple for a flat fee or you can send it into a third party repair service center for a little less.  The choice is yours.
    Google "iPod battery replacement."

  • AirPort Base Station disk username and password not working

I got a new AirPort Base Station the other day and everything worked fine until I started to set up the networked disk. On my mac it works fine, it just pops up when I connect to the network ( woot for macs ). On my windows it asks for the username and password. After I enter it it comes up with "Unknown user, incorrect password, or login is disabled. Please retype the login information or contact the disk's administrator." I have tried to log into the disk on 2 other computers running windows xp with the same problem. What is wrong with it and how do I fix it?

Specifically, I had the typical problem connecting when using Windows Live OneCare, despite allowing AirPort Disk Agent in its firewall pop-up.
This is the procedure which unlocked access via AirPort Disk Agent:
Double Click Windows Live OneCare icon in system tray. Or use your own means to get its main window open.
Click the "Change OneCare Settings" topic listed along the left edge column. This will open a new dialog box.
Click the "Firewall" tab of this new dialog box.
Click the "Firewall connection tool" button shown right under the protection level slider. This will open yet another dialog box.
At the top of the list in this "Set up connections" dialog box will be a checkbox (probably unchecked) next to the words "Network Discovery: Browse your network to find printers, computers and other devices."
    CHECK THAT BOX.
Close all the dialog boxes using an OK button where available, else the usual [X].
Left-click the AirPort Disk Agent icon in your system tray. From the menu that pops up, select the disk you were having trouble with. Enter its password (the one you know works from a Mac, if appropriate).
After a delay, your "My Computer" window should show a new drive. If you have window settings appropriate to this display, the drive should appear under the "Network Drives" category. In my case, it became drive Z:.

  • Disk permissions and Internet not working

    I am have problems with:
    1. Disk utility - run repair permissions and then states "Permissions repair complete". Run verify permissions and some of the same problems come back saying they are now this. This is after running them over and over again and doing nothing else on computer.
    2. Problems connecting to internet. Wiring setup has not changed. Can't connect to (Example: www.google.com) using Safari, Firefox or Chrome, but can access iTunes Store and App Store with no problems.
I can't figure out what to do, any suggestions would be great.
    John

    jodmcc1,
Ignore the permissions thing, this is normal, you can repair constantly and it will always come up with something, so do not be concerened with that.
Here are some things to read on connecting:

Ipod nano 6 gen power button and volume up and down not working, Ipod nano 6 gen power button and volume up and down not working

Try restarting your device. If that doesn't work, take it to an Apple store. If it is less than a year old and just stopped working, they will replace it for free (be sure to back it up to iTunes first). If you dropped it, you will have to pay because Apple will not replace a device due to "Human Error." If it is more than a year old, you will either have to pay to get it fixed, or have to pay to get it replaced.

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

    any thoughts anyone??

Perhaps the reason you haven't had any replies is because there is no such thing as an 8GB iPod Classic.
I suggest that you begin by correctly identifying which iPod you have.
