Crashing mail application

hi
I have a problem with mail. Two weeks ago I tried to send someone a .mov file of some 16MB.....It would not send and the mail application froze. I had to quit the application and reboot. However am now unable to get back into mail to delete attachment without it freezing.
Does anyone have any bright ideas of how I can regain access to mail and solve this problem; thxs.ral

Hi rg7.
If Mail keeps trying to send that message every time you launch it, you may try this:
1. Either shut down the Internet connection before opening Mail or take Mail offline immediately after opening it.
2. Move the messages in Outbox out of there, so that Mail does’t try to send them.
3. Go online again.

Alternatively, you may try this:
1. Quit Mail if it’s running.
2. In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Mail/Mailboxes/.
3. Locate Outbox.mbox and move it to the Trash.
4. Open Mail. A new (empty) Outbox.mbox will be created automatically.
Note: For those not familiarized with the ~/ notation, it refers to the user’s home folder. That is, ~/Library is the Library folder within the user’s home folder, i.e. /Users/username/Library.
