Crating J2EE webservice manually with Weblogic 8.1

HI
IS it possible to create the J2EE web service manually using weblogic 8.1 ?

My understanding is that the answer is 'maybe'.
By 'J2EE web service' are you referring to:
* WSEE, specified by JSRs 109/921? This is the standard that allows you to expose a session bean as a Web service, without (?) using any platform-specific Java-XML mapping classes.
* Or, are you just referring to hosting or accessing a Web service from within a J2EE application?
So, some things that might satisfy your question:
* You can create Web services (non-WSEE) manually with Weblogic, using Ant tasks to generate the bindings and XML documents. The Ant tasks are decribed here: http://e-docs.bea.com/wls/docs81/webserv/anttasks.html. This to me is 'manual' because you're manually generating the binding classes and assembling a WAR, etc.
* I'm pretty sure (but not 100%) that WLAS8.1 doesn't support WSEE Web services, as it's a feature introduced with J2EE 1.4. Still, I could be wrong on this.
Not sure if any of that helped, but there you go.
Cheers,
-Tim

  • EPMA 11.1.1.3 manual deployment issues with WEBLOGIC in EAS and WEBANALYSIS

    Hi all,
    As we are working on 64 bit machines, we have to deploy hyperion products manually with WEBLOGIC. other than EAS and WEBANALYSIS, all the products are working fine.
    we have followed all the steps related to manual deployment. but still we r getting JAVA related error. so if anything else that we need to perform other than normal manual deployment steps, please let me know.
    NOTE: EASDOCS, HBRLAUNCHER, are working but EAS is not been deployed.
    Regards

    Is your WebLogic 32-bit or 64-bit WebLogic? What specific O/S and version are you using? Some of the products make use of 32-bit native libraries's for JNDI and there are not 64-bit native libraries available unless you are using the AIX or Solaris Platform and even then not all products are supported for 64-bit.
    If you were to use 11.1.2 it supports most of the product suite in 64-bit on most platforms.
    Refer to support matrices at: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/middleware/bi-foundation/hyperion-supported-platforms-085957.html

  • How to resolve setPrefix() in SOAP(saaj API) with weblogic/webservices jar?

    Hi,
    I am facing a problem deploying a Web-Application in Weblogic containing SOAP related code.
    My environment is as below:
    1) Weblogic 8.1 SP2 server
    2) Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2_04-b05)
    3) A method is exposed as web-service

         sp.setPrefix("soapenv");
         SOAPEnvelope se = sp.getEnvelope();
         se.addNamespaceDeclaration("soapenv","http://orion:7001");

    I am able to compile without any error/warning all the time.
    This is giving only when putting the saaj(jwsdp-1.4) jars along with weblogic/webservices jars in classpath.

  • Error invoking WebService in Eclipse with WebLogic 12c plugin

    I am using Eclipse Indigo with WebLogic 12c plugin to create a standalone WebService Client which invokes a simple WebService. The WebService is protected by Security Policies Wssp1.2-2007-Wss1.0-X509-Basic256.xml and Wssp1.2-SignBody.xml.
    I get the following exception when I run the standalone client:
    h2. Exception in thread "main" java.util.ServiceConfigurationError: javax.xml.ws.spi.Provider: Provider weblogic.wsee.jaxws.spi.WLSProvider could not be instantiated: java.lang.ExceptionInInitializerError
    The same program works fine using JDeveloper 11g but not in Eclipse Indigo or in Juno. Has anyone faced this issue?
    Thanks,
    Madhav

    The stand-alone client JAR file does not, however, support invoking Web services that use the following advanced features:
    Web services reliable SOAP messaging
    Message-level security (WS-Security)
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E14571_01/web.1111/e13760/client.htm#i229632
    Can you try running by adding weblogic.jar. but if you run the client inside the wls Server it should work.

  • [Blog] Monitoring WebLogic J2EE on VMware with VMware vCenter Operations (vCOps)

    Monitoring WebLogic J2EE on VMware with VMware vCenter Operations
    The Blue Medora vC Ops Management Pack for Oracle OEM was updated in early May (2014) to include enhanced support for Oracle WebLogic J2EE integration. All of the Oracle EM target types for WebLogic related components including WebLogic Server, J2EE Application Deployments, Oracle HTTP Server, as well as WebLogic Cluster are now available to be ingested into VMware vC Ops Enterprise Edition.
    With the data available within these new vC Ops 'Resource Kinds', you have the ability to create WebLogic on VMware relationship views, WebLogic on VMware mashup dashboards, as well as leverage vC Ops anomaly detection and predictive analytics on your WebLogic J2EE landscape. Below are a number of example dashboards that were easily created using the WebLogic data available within the Management Pack.
    The first dashboard, the WebLogic on VMware Relationship View -- helps you visualize your WebLogic environment running on VMware all the way down to the VMware VM, ESX, and even Datastore level.   This can useful for diagnosing critical J2EE applications running within the vSphere environment -- allowing you to quickly discern whether a problem exists in the Oracle WebLogic layer or one of the VMware virtualization layers.

  • Deploy web application in jbuilder 9 with weblogic 7 problem

    when i create a web application and a servlet, and deploy it in jbuilder 9 with weblogic 7.0 ,jbuilder 9 showed me the error,please tell me why, when i choose "redeploy" ,it can be normally work..
    E:\bea\jdk131_02\bin\javaw -classpath E:\bea\weblogic700\server\lib\weblogic.jar;E:\bea\weblogic700\server\lib\webservices.jar;E:\bea\weblogic700\server\lib\weblogic_sp.jar; weblogic.Deployer -user system -adminurl http://localhost:7001 -password 12345678 -deploy -name firstWebApp -upload -source E:/J2EE/servlet/firstWebApp.war -targets myserver
    WebLogic Application Deployment Utility
    Usage: java weblogic.Deployer [options] [-activate|-deactivate|-remove|-unprepare|-cancel|-list] [files]
    where options include:
    -help Print this help message.
    -version Print version information.
    -adminurl <https://<server>:<port>> The URL of the administration server: default
    http://localhost:7001
    -user <user> A user other than the default of
    "installadministrator"
    -password <password> Specifies the password on the command line.
    If this option is absent the user is
    prompted.
    -verbose Displays additional status during the
    deployment process, including notifications
    when the application is prepared and
    activated on each target.
    -debug Displays debug level messages to the standard
    output.
    -examples Display example usage of this tool.
    -upload Causes the specified source file(s) to be
    transferred to the adminstration server. This
    is used when the Deployer tools is not being
    used on the same machine as the adminstration
    server and the user does not otherwise have
    access to place the targeted files on the
    adminstration server.
    -delete_files Causes the server to remove the files that
    are specified in the file list and leave the
    application activated. This option is valid
    only for unarchived web applications.
    -remote Signals that the tools is not runnning on the
    same machine as the adminstration server and
    that the source path should be made passed
    through unchanged as it represents the path
    on the remote server.
    -nostage Sets the stagingMethod attribute on the
    application mbean when it is created so that
    the application will not be staged and the
    original source is be used.
    -external_stage Sets the stagingMethod attribute on the
    application mbean when it is created so that
    the application will not be staged but the
    value of the staging path will be used when
    preparing the application.
    -stage Sets the stagingMethod staging attribute on
    the application when it is created so that
    the application will always be staged. This
    value will override the stagingMethod
    attribute on any targeted servers.
    -nowait Once the action is initiated the tool will
    print the task id and exit. This is used to
    initiate multiple tasks and then monitor them
    later using the -list action.
    -timeout <seconds> The maximum time in seconds to wait for the
    completion of the deployment task. When the
    time expires the current status is printed
    and the program exits.
    -source <archive file or directory> Location of the file or directory that
    represents the enterprise component or
    application tha is being (re)activated. If
    the source file is relative it is relative to
    the current directory, unless the -remote
    option is used. To specify individual files
    within an application for reployment or
    addition list them at the end of the command
    line.
    -name <application name> The name of the application being deployed.
    -targets <<server 1>,...<component>@<server N>> A comma separated list of the server and/or
    cluster names. Each target may be qualified
    with a J2EE component name. This enables
    different components of the archive to
    deployed on different servers.
    -id <task identifier> Optional client supplied unique identifier
    for the deployment task. The id is first
    specified to -activate, -deactivate,
    -unprepare or -remove. It is then used later
    as an argument to -cancel or -list.
    -activate (Re)activates the <source> application on the
    <targets> with the <name>.
    -deactivate Deactivates the application <name> on the
    <targets> leaving an staged application files
    in a state where the may be quickly
    reactivated.
    -unprepare Deactivates and unloads classes for the
    application <name> on the <targets> leaving
    an staged application files in a state where
    the may be quickly reloaded.
    -remove Deactivates the application <name> on the
    <target> and removes any files that were
    staged for this application. If there are no
    longer any targets for the application, the
    associated configuration is completely
    removed.
    -cancel Atempts to cancel the task <id> if it is has
    not yet completed.
    -list Lists the target status of each task <id>
    -deploy a convenient alias for activate.
    -undeploy a convenient alias for unprepare.
    Optionally a list of the specific files in the archive that are to be
    redeployed may be specified. If a directory is specified the entire subtree is
    redeployed.
    Full documentation on this tool is available at:
    http://edocs.beasys.com/wls/docs70/adminguide/utils.html#1138475
    No actions was specified. Please specify one and only one of:
    -activate, -deactivate, -cancel, -remove, -unprepare, or -list.
    Type java weblogic.Deployer -examples for example usage.

    you use "deploy" under DOS-Mode to deploy your web application?
    i found some differences between "deploy" and "redeploy" function in jbuilder 9.
    when i choose "deploy" ,jbuilder shows me the commond below:
    E:\bea\jdk131_02\bin\javaw -classpath E:\bea\weblogic700\server\lib\weblogic.jar;E:\bea\weblogic700\server\lib\webservices.jar;E:\bea\weblogic700\server\lib\weblogic_sp.jar; weblogic.Deployer -user system -adminurl http://localhost:7001 -password 12345678 -deploy -name firstWebApp -upload -source E:/J2EE/servlet/firstWebApp.war -targets myserver
    WebLogic Application Deployment Utility
    when i choose redeploy,it shows me: (the -deploy parameter has changed to -activate) ,maybe it's a bug.

  • Webservice Security - With minimal changes

    Hi,
    Standalone java application (Customer) is invoking the JAX-WS webservice of provider (sitting on weblogic 12c). Now we need to implement Security for webservice call with very minimal changes at customer end. There is no issues for any change at Provider side as we are owning that. But the solution should have no or minimum changes at customer end.
    Can we achieve this with configuration at weblogic side without doing coding changes?
    Please provide information regarding this. Appreciate your quick help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sri

    AFAIK, only manual changes available in DTS for its packages being binary objects.

  • Weblogic.ejb20.locks.LockTimedOutException and pb with weblogic-ejb-jar.xml

    Hello All,
    I get a strange problem when I try to log in to the J2EE application based on EJBs:
    weblogic.ejb20.locks.LockTimedOutException
    I see that I can add an option to the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file, and I hope that can help for my previous problem:
    <weblogic-enterprise-bean><stateful-session-descriptor>
    <allow-concurrent-calls>true</allow-concurrent-calls>
    </stateful-session-descriptor></weblogic-enterprise-bean>
    But I can not edit the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file under JBuilder ! the file is probably read-only, but I do not know how to change the property. I can not find this file directly under JBuilder directories.
    So I have tried to open the module.jar that contained this file. I have checked: the file is not read-only. I have modified directly manually the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file, but now I get this error in Jbuilder when I open the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file:
    URL: Transformation requires a XSL StyleSheetThe Node does not have a style sheet associated with itEither add a style sheet using the Add stylesheets button on the toolbar or add a valid XSL Processing instruction to the document directly
    In conclusion, what should I do to be able to modify the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file properly ??

    Ok in a way I have solved my problem (even if I am not completely satisfied by the way on how to proceed...). So thanks to message "JBuilder7.0 and Weblogic6.1" on EJB sun forum :
    http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?thread=285735&forum=13&message=1255488
    I have tried the following actions (mentionned in the other forum messages):
    - To preserve changes to weblogic*.xml, the safest way is to change the ejb-borland.xml.
    (I am not sure that I have applied this advice correctly, because I suppose that syntax is not similar in weblogic file or borland file).
    And you can MANUALLY update the weblogic file in your JAR archive.
    1. Open the EJB JAR file in Winzip and extract the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file, so that a copy exists in your
    project directory.
    2. Open this file (in Notepad), add the WebLogic specific information, and then save the file.
    3. Now, when you are finished with the build cycle and are ready to deploy, you may open the EJB jar file
    and swap in the weblogic-ejb-jar.xml file."
    Good Luck.

  • Error while deploying application with WebLogic server

    Hi,
    I use Jdeveloper 11g and created and ADF application which i want to deploy with WebLogic Server.But i have an error which is :
    "There was a failure when processing annotations for application C:\...\xxx.war. Please make sure that the annotations are valid. The error is oracle.adf.library.webapp.ResourceServlet "
    Plz help me.
    Thx

    I am receiving same message for simple servlet. Running JDev11g build 5166 and embedded WLS 10.3. Servlet used to deploy to embedded WLS and ran fine. Recently running newly created servlets produces error message as in this thread.
    Investigation turned up the fact that the class file for the servlet was not deployed to the context-root (o.j2ee\drs) on the server. Copying the class file from the mywork project folder to the context-root folder (o.j2ee\drs) permitted the servlet to run.
    Don't know if this is the cause of what you are experiencing but it may assist in your investigation! I have not figured out why the class file for servlets does not deploy to server despite the fact that the log file shows war and ear files were deployed. As it turns out, the war file does not have the class file in it so something is wrong before the war file is created.
    Cheers!

    Hi,
    I am using Web Start with Weblogic 6.1 and I keep getting the exception

    Any help would be greatly appreciated,
    Thanks,

    I have exactly the same problem running JBoss 3-Tomcat-4.0.1. After some investigation it seems that the problem is because of dependency on creating File objects using getRealPath()
    The problem manifests itself on several places but for instance:
    DownloadRequest Constructor:
    if(_context != null && !_path.endsWith("/")) {
    String s1 = context.getRealPath(path);
    File file = new File(s1);
    if(file != null && file.exists() && file.isDirectory())
    _path += "/";
    s1 is null so a nullpointer is thrown. Instead do something like:
    if (_context != null && !_path.endsWith("/")) {
    String s1 = context.getRealPath(path);
    if (s1 != null) {
    File file = new File(s1);
    if (file.exists() && file.isDirectory())
    _path += "/";
    But it is harder to fix on other places such as
    ResourceCatalog.scanDirectory(String path)
    File file = new File(_servletContext.getRealPath(s));
    This will faile since getRealPath returns null resulting in a nullpointer exception which will make it impossible to download versioned jars.
    The documentation for ServletContext says that getRealPath will return null if the application is packaged in a war file but this is strange since it worked fine for me for running JBoss-2.4.0_Tomcat-3.2.3. Maybe this is new behaviour for the 2.3 servlet spec ( i assume WL 6.1 is also 2.3 compliant)?

  • IBM Cognos 8 BI Integration with Weblogic portal

    Hi,
    In our project we need to integrate IBM Cognos 8 BI portlets with Weblogic portal 10.3.
    1. How to integrate Cognos ?
    2. How to enable SSO between Portals & Cognos? Cognos should use the portal users credentials for authentication
    Please share me some useful links and sample code to proceed.
    Thanks & regards,
    Rajesh

    Basically I am saying that your options are
    1. Screenscraping the apps into portlets
    2. Using SSO to login to the apps, but keepin them separate
    3. Using Web Services to consume parts of the apps and exposing those as portlets
    For our application we do 2 and 3. In many cases we just create portlets that represents views into other j2ee apps. When the users click on something, we launch the j2ee app in a popup browser. The users are already signed on, and taken to a specific detail page, add page or something within the app directly.
    Hope this helps.

  • Best IDE to develop EJB/Servlet development with WebLogic

    Hi,
    I am prepearing a recommendation for our company's standard Java development
    environment. I would appriciate any comment you guys might have on the best
    IDE that supports J2EE and EJB and Servlet development that integrates with
    WebLogic. I guess the best are Visual Age or Visual Cafe, anybody have any
    experince/comment on any of those ?
    Thanks

    I would recommend the products coming from Webgain. They offer the product
    suite surrounding visual cafe.
    Thanks,
