Crawling title stutter

I am using crawling titles, and as they move across the screen, I get an occasional, (not at regular intervals) stutter.
It shows up very slightly within Final Cut Express, a little more in the quicktime movie I export, and even more when it's played back on a DVD burned with iDVD.
(I guess the frame gets bigger each time)
Any clue on how to make it smooth?

Make sure FCE is the only program running, select all clips on your timeline and then render all video and also mixdown all audio. This way you'll correct for anything that might not have been completely rendered. Mixing down audio is also very important - I've seen more dropped frames due to audio not being mixed down than any other cause.
Once you have done that, export your movie to QT as a reference movie, not a self-contained movie. And when you prepare & burn your DVDs, make sure iDVD is the only program running.
If that doesn't fix the problem, you might try re-creating the title clip from scratch and replace the current title clip with a new one (but also make sure you render & mix down again).
The other thing that comes to mind is - how much memory is in your Mac? If it's under 1GB your Mac may be paging memory to disk, which could interrupt the flow enough to cause a problem like this. Also, make sure to turn off any screen saver & that your energy prefs are set to never sleep.

Holding the end of a crawling title.

I have a crawling title, but I want the final phrase to stay stationary in the middle of the screen, rather than just disappear at the end. How do I make this happen?
I thought changing ease out to 500 and post roll to 500 would make it slow down, and then pause on the final frame, but instead, if i change post roll to anything, the whole title is just the final frame, and it doesn't display any of the rest of the title.

FCP7 Problem rendering crawl titles...

hi folks,
big problems here...
i am trying to create a crawl title that runs smooth (worked fine in FCP6!)...
i also tried "boris title crawl generator". same problem!
seems that FCP doesnt render fields in text generators anymore...
no problems with normal camera-footage...
dont know why... anybody with the same problem?
Is that a new "nice" bug in FCP7?
i am editing DVCAM via firewire connected to Sony DSR-11 --> connected to CRT-Monitor.

in ANY case! FCP7 dont render moving titles with fields anymore.
in FCP6 i could create crawl and roll titles without any problems...
it wont work in FCP7. where is the difference?

Crawling Title Very de-interlaced

Hi all.
Well, I am not sure if I am using the correct tool for the job. I filmed my child’s choir recently and one of the songs they sing is the renowned Dr Seuss Grandmas Killer Fruit cake. Sending this across continents the exact wording will get lost so I wanted use a crawl title and show the words as they were sung.
Well, after a little repositioning etc I was able to do it and felt really good about my newly found PRE 8 skills. Well, once I exported this to a WMV 1080i 30 to preview on my XBOX 360, the title is almost unreadable. It has very bad interlace, or deinterlaced lines running horizontally.
Is there a trcik to make these better ?
The source video is 1920X1080 30P from a Canon HF21 shot in MXP. The video looks stunning.
For the title, I went to Title -> New Title and selected Default Crawl.

You may also get better results if you just burn a BluRay disc and play it on that xBox.
WMVs can be highly compressed files, designed to be viewed on computers, not TVs. It's quite possible that WMV format is what's causing the interlacing.

Boris Crawl/ Roll Titles not smooth - Help anyone?

Does any of you FCP pros out there know how to get the roll or crawl titles to come out smooth?
I'm using the Boris Crawl in FCP 5.04 and I checked the deflicker option (not sure if that made matters better or worse... ?). The roll titles look fine on the computer monitor, but they look bad in the DVD version on my TV monitor. (at the moment I don't have a camera or another way of connecting the monitor directly to the computer). The crawl titles look bad in both places... a bit shaky and flickering, making it hard to read them.
Is there a better way? or is this the best FCP can put out?

I've been generally unhappy with credit scrolls in FCP over the years, so what I do when I have to create credit scrolls is make a 640x3000 JPG file in Photoshop and type my credits in there. Then I just use the motion controls in FCP to make it appear as if this image scrolls from -3000 through +3000. I never get any sort of pixelation or flicker, and I could swear it scrolls a little smoother than the scroll generator in Boris, LiveType or FCP. Fading a Title Crawl

I just completed two tutorials on fading a crawling Title. The first is for PrPro, and the second is for PrE, as they do not share the same set of Effects. The tutorials can both be found at MUVIPIX.

No, I don't think it's possible. Final Cut's text generator is pretty weak.
Even if you had FCP, you'd have to use LiveType to do this sort of thing.
Then it works quite well.

Ipod causes Windows Vista to stutter

Hi,
I have recently upgraded to Vista and when i plug my ipod in, it causes my system to slow to a crawl and stutter, mouse moves really slowly, things take ages to action. I had this problem when i installed my USB hard drive, but that seemed to cure itself after a day or so.
Please can somebody help me, i have am desperate to update the songs / vid on my Ipod.

I have written several blog posts on the Premiere Elements Titler. See if any of them addresses your title needs. But all the titles are within the video, not outside the video, from static titles to crawling newsroom type text at the bottom of the video frame. Although most of the time Adobe demo's its features in the Quick workspace, I prefer the Expert workspace since you can see better what you are doing and thus have more control of the situation.

Default duration on the timeline of Roll title.

We are developing a title importer plugin for Premiere Pro CC.
I want to set a default duration value when I put materials on the timeline.
However, selector imGetInfo8 is called, if imFileInfoRec8->vidInfo.isRollCrawl=1 is returned, the value of General Setting will be effective.
It is supplementary as follows:
1.materials is a roll/crawl title.
2.The roll/crawl title made by our software.
3.roll/crawl title has duration.
4.The roll/crawl title in the timeline already, I want to change the duration freely.
5.It is not reflected although imFileInfoRec8->vidDuration was tried.
Is it possible in Premiere Pro SDK ?

*I hope that a new type is added to the 'ImporterDurationType'.
for example 'imNoDurationVidDurationDefault' ---> use supplied vid duration and duration on the timeline can be changed freely.
Normal video does not seem to fit as a solution.
Because I would like to adjust duration freely on the timeline.

The DICOM crawler does not need to know about specific file system directories on the PACS system. The crawler communicates with the PACS system through the DICOM protocol. The PACS system identifies where the images are physically stored in its system and sends the data, using the DICOM protocol.
DICOM crawler runs in WLS. You can check the WLS logs to see entries for your crawler title (UCM_CRAWLER in your example).

I want to validate XML Document using XML Schema...
does any body have an idea how to do it.

Metadata - Configurations for Knowledge Directory

All,
We are using Windows File crawler for crawling documents to KD. By default, the crawler titles the name of the document by this criteria
1) If the document has title metadata, the document is named by its metadata in the title.
2) If the document doesnot have any title, then the file name is issued as the title.
We would like the document to be named by its file name, always. we dont want to make use of the title metadata at all. How do we acheive that. I went thru some configs , document type map, content type map etc etc. but couldn't find a way to do this. Can some one help me?
Or, is there any way i can read the file name of the document by property / some other means? I know we can do that by reading the document URL, but looking for some better ways.

Is it possible to go to Search Results Manager and choose just one property - the one that maps to the File name.
The Global Document Property Map has those listed.
I noticed ours has Name the heavily weights - I check the properties of Name and it has This property is supported for use with documents checked off.

Quality great in imovie, great idvd, terrible when creating a disk image

Help! I've created a 30 minute film with very simple over-black titles, some fades, and a scrolling block of text at the beginning. The quality is great in imovie, great when I 'preview' in idvd, but once I create a disk image - it's blocky, the titles stutter and are choppy - essentially it looks unusable when viewed through the DVD player application.
Any ideas what's going on? I haven't burned it to disc yet, as I wanted to check the disk image.
Assets haven't been previously encoded, and the setting is 'best quality' 'PAL' output.

Kerning In Boris

What am I missing? Putting a crawl title in with Boris. Trubuchet, 48 pt., Edge style Plain, edge width 1.53, white, words "Muchoa Lake Park" in red letters. (This is an example--the problem always happens.) The M is partly on top of the O. The distance between the R and K is too great. Every title I put in requires a couple of minutes to adjust the kerning manually. Can Boris not recognize that different letters take up different spaces?
