Craziness install : iTunes 7.0.2 nulls previous installs?

having an iPod in Korea is not fun sometimes. especially if we wanna talk about install smoothness. 7.0 was bad enough: my album art got messed around for one, things also slowed a bit sometimes. with 7.0.2 my install fails to make any launchable iTunes, at all. instead i am flagged with an annoying message about having to upgrade to QuickTime yadda yadda yadda.
executive redux: my iPod now is waiting for iTunes to launch. it won't launch. i've tried installing new versions of QuickTime, but that fails as well. $1500 worth of iTunes locked away on the computer until iTunes gets it together and decides to give me a real install. wow! that's special.
any advice to get iTunes back up and breathing again?
p.s. i've even tried to install a lower version of iTunes I had tucked away (on cd) for just such an occasion. no luck with that tack either.
customized asian model?   Windows XP Pro

everything is working again. sadly though, my new install is in Korean, so it is now difficult to navigate the program in any detail.
okay, let's try changing your itunes language settings.
launch itunes.
counting from the left, go to the second itunes menu, and select the bottom command in the menu. (that's "edit > preferences".)
click on the leftmost tab in your preferences. (that's the "General" tab.)
down the bottom and in the middle of the tab is the choose language pull-down menu. counting from the top, select the fifth item on the list. (that's English.)
down in the bottom right hand corner, click the leftmost of the two buttons. (that's OK.)
now shut down itunes and launch itunes again.
are you back seeing English?

While installing itunes i am getting error "this installation package could not be opened.verify that the package exists and that you can access it,or contact the appliacation vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package"

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
If you use Firefox instead of IE for the download (or vice versa), do you get a working installer?

Problem installing itunes on windows 8 64bit. Installation gets stuck on Status: (blank) literally blank. I really need to install this since I have only 1 PC and i just bought the new iPhone 6.

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • Cannot install itunes on Windows 7 Windows Service Installer could not be accessed

I am having trouble installing itunes on Windows 7.  I keep getting a message that says that Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.  This is driving me crazy.  Any help would be appreciated.

I managed to get iTunes downloaded, but now it won't install because it says a newer version of Quicktime is installed, and iTunes cannot proceed until that is uninstalled.
We're still making progress. That's damaged QuickTime installation configuration information (which also seems to be associated with some-though-not-all reports of your initial error).
Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any QuickTime entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try installing iTunes again. Does the install go through properly now?
(If you do find a clean download site for the correct version of CleanUp, please don't tell me where it is. Without wishing to sound paranoid (although I grant it does sound paranoid), there is a non-zero chance that posting links to download locations for the utility here at Discussions leads to that download location being shut down.)

whem installing itunes on my mums new computer which is windows 7 i get this message everytime "this installation package could not be opened. Verifiy that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package"

    Let's check your Windows system.
    1.  Have you done all the important windows updates and service Packs on your system.  If not do it now.  START button, type in Windows Update and ENTER.  Select 'CHECK FOR UPDATES'
    2.  Let's check your Windows system files for possible file corruption
SCAN and repair possible Windows system file corruption:
Go to command prompt (START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES right mouse click "command prompt" and choose "Run as Administrator"
    type in
    sfc /scannow
let Windows fix any system files that need to be repaired.
Restart the computer if it did actually repair any files.
    3.  Check your system for possible Malware.  But you have to do it in WIndows Safe Mode.
Start your computer in "Safe mode with networking", go to this link download a free version of Malwarebyte.
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free
Install and perform update immediately, then do a full SCAN. Remove malware if it indeed finds any. Restart computer to regular windows to let Malwarebyte complete the removal.
To start your computer in safe mode
Press and hold the F8 key as your computer starts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you'll need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer.
On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight the "safe mode with networking" option, and then press Enter. Log on to your computer with a user account that has administrator rights.
When your computer is in safe mode, you'll see the words Safe Mode in the corners of your screen. To exit safe mode, restart your computer and let Windows start normally.

  • Trying to install iTunes and get this error: "The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured   Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified"

    HELP!!!
I am trying to install iTunes on my Windows 7 laptop and get this error:
"The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured   Errors occurred during installation. Your system has not been modified"
Arghhhhh!! I've tried different browsers and various other things suggested on other posts to no avail

Ok people, I think I have found the solution !
If you click on the start button from your desktop screen.
Then in the "search programs and files" field type : apple software update - you can find the apple installer.
Click on the apple software update line and let the machine run it's course. I recommend updating whatever it wants to , ie: safari 5, quicktime, itunes....
I then restarted my computer and it seems to be working now !
    Good luck everyone !

  • I am having problems with installing Itunes 10.5 .With the windows installer

I am having problems with installing Itunes 10.5.It's the first time i dowload it,but every time het gives me an error message that a programm that was needed for installing didn't run.
    What can i do???

When I attempt the download for Itunes 10.6, I get an immediate response of ""Files shared by these updates" has an invalid signature. The download has been removed."
That's suggesting that the AppleApplicationSupport.msi is getting damaged during the download via Apple Software Update for Windows.
Are you able to get the 10.6  update to go through if you use an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file from the Apple Website?

Ok I have tried to install itunes 7.5 and all the installation goes ok till I try to actually open the program. when I do i get the following message :could not find SCARDDLG.dll reinstalling the application might repair this. I did try to reinstall and i still get the same message over and over then I used the repair function in the setup and it ask me to reboot my computer but when i do my computer say that itunes isnt responding and that all change will be lost, but Itunes isnt even opened because it doesn't want to. (i speak french...my spelling *** i know) plz someone help me!!! this is driving me crazy.
    thank you!!!

Try Cntrl-Alt-Del keys. Opens Task master window. Find processes with Ipod, Quicktime (iqtt...), apple, and on each one 'end process'. Close window. Go to Start, My Cmptr, programs. Find Ipod, quicktime, itunes programs and close each w/right click, delete. Then empty trash, restart. If more than 1 program, like itunes (2), (3), etc close in reverse order. Restart. Good Luck. If there's something you can do to 'thank' Steve Jobs for having such great customer support do so.

  • Failure to install iTunes

    Everytime I try to install iTunes on my Windows XP, the installation stops near the end and comes up with a message saying;
"The installation was interrupted before iTunes could be completely installed. The system has not been modified."
It said to re-install it later, but ive tried this many times and with many versions of iTunes but for some reason it still wont work. I've also removed my previous version of Quicktime from my computer to see if that will help but unfortunately it hasn't. So i have no way of getting music onto my Ipod nano, i hope someone can give some useful advice
    Thanks
    Missi

    hi Missi!
okay, let's try getting some additional technical help with this one.
let's try getting a installer log to someone who can interpret installer logs.
Start menu -> Run... In the text field of the dialog that comes up, type in "cmd" and hit return.
In the command prompt dialog that comes up, find the iTunes installer on your desktop and drag it to this window. Then on the same line type in a space and then the following:
    /Verbose"c:\log.txt" /V"ENABLE_QTLOGGING=TRUE"
There is no space between the e in Verbose and the double quote ("). There is no space between the V"Enable...
    Hit return.
The installer will create two log files:
    C:\log.txt and C:\qt.log
Find those files and send them to this email address Put the URL to this discussion thread into the email, so that the person who gets it has some context. Let them know the version of itunes you’re trying to install, too … in general, give as much info as you can.
    love, b

  • Unable to install ituns on windows 7 64 missing .dll file

Unable to install ituns on windows 7 64. Installer states missing .dll file.

Here is a solution that worked for a user who also had a problem with iTunes Software Support. This thread was for a win32 version, but Maybe this is the problem for both of you?:
IT appears that AppleApplicationSupport.msi, is not opening and installing properly.
Download and SAVE iTunesSetup.exe, where you can find it.
    Then:
    1. Download and install WinRAR.
    2. Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe icon and choose "Open with WinRAR".
    3. Once the EXE is opened in WinRAR, double-click AppleApplicationSupport.msi and when the installer window is open choose "Repair".
    4. Done! You can now run iTunes normally.
Here is a link to that fairly lengthy thread.. http://discussions.info.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2151777&tstart=-1

  • Problems installing itunes 11

Whenever I try to install iTunes 11 it comes up 'the installer encountered errors before iTunes could be configured. Error occured during installation. Your system has not been modified. Please run installer again etc' I've been having problems with trying to sync my ipod touch to itunes. I decided to completely delete my iTunes and re-install but this is the message thats came up.

I had problems installing iTunes and the solution that worked for me was to use winrar (or other extracting program) to extract the files from itunes setup.exe. Once extracted you can go into that folder and individually install which software component you need. I spent a couple hours on the phone with tech support with no success until we tried the above. Now everything works great. This should solve your problem.

  • I'm trying to install iTunes on my new pc and get this message:

I get the following message when attempting to install iTunes on my new pc:
The installer encountered errors before iTunes could be installed. Errors occurred during installation.  Your system has not been modified.  Please re-run installer or finish.

    Repair your Apple software update.
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install
If you don't find ASU, go to Control Panel:
START > CONTROL PANEL > Programs n Features / highlight ASU and click CHANGE then REPAIR,

  • Installing iTunes hangs on "creating shortcuts" - help!

    Hi...
When I try to install iTunes on my IBM Thinkpad, it installation hangs on "creating shortcuts". I can see that MSIExec.exe is running at 99% when this happens. I have to hit cancel on the installation and the software does not complete the install.
I have tried numerous versions of the iTunes software, I have deinstalled my antivirus software, and I can install other software without any problems, so I know that the install shield works OK. Any ideas?

    Close your iTunes,
    Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
    (Win XP SP2 n above) - START>PROGRAMS>ACCESSORIES>Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
    netsh winsock reset
    Hit "ENTER" key
    Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:
