Crazy characters appearing in Thunderbird email headers, etc.

After a recent Update, I started noticing crazy characters (looking like a Domino) in my email headers. Can someone take a looks and tell me what's happening?

Spam often contains weird characters in mail subjects to try and avoid detection by spam tools, Viagra is easy to see. VڽIڽAڽGڽ Rڽ Aڽ is much more difficult for a machine to see it as what it is. The human eye however quickly ignores the odd characters and zooms in on what it knows.

Try resetting your phone. Hold the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time until the Apple logo appears, then release both buttons and allow the phone to restart. No data will be lost.

My thunderbird email inbox wont display

Hi there !
Suddenly my Thunderbird email inbox doesn't display . Usually I would open my email via the blue bird button , it would automatically open to inbox with messages on the Right , folders , sub folders etc on the Left .
when i open now I get a plain white screen with Thunderbird mail sent at the top , Accounts and Advanced features displaying , It also asks me if I want to create a new address etc .
I have no idea why this has happened .

Why has my Thunderbird email program simply quit, though I still have Internet service? After I click to launch the software, only a single menu column appears none of whose features works.

Sorry, that is a long-distance number. Phone support is not a feature of this forum anyway.
What you want to do is check to see if xulstore.json in Thunderbird's profile is damaged or not. You can find the profile by opening the Help menu, choosing Troubleshooting Information and clicking the button "Show in Finder". Once you find that you can move that file out and put it on the desktop, then restart Tbird and see if the problem is resolved. If so, you will have to redo any customization you did to window sizes and toolbars. If not, you can put the file back.
In order to keep the profile easy to access, you might want to try a method for making the user profile unhidden.

When we back up our Thunderbird email from our office computer to our laptop so we can continue doing business when we are away from the office, most (if not all) of our folders get duplicated between our inbox and our archives, or vice versa, we're not sure which. All we know is that many of our folders are copied. We have 62 folders in our archive, and 74 in our inbox. After checking- it appears that our archived folders are being duplicated back in to our inbox.

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use. When you do this you may find that the password for your old ID isn't accepted. If this should happen, and if your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, you need to temporarily recreate your old ID by going to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID. Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change. Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address. You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll. When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud). Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was. Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.

Icon Box appears when sending email

Lately I have been getting a pop up box when I try to send an email. It usually happens when I reply to someone. I will hit the "send" icon and a pop up box appears that says "icon list", etc. Sometimes it goes away an sometimes it doesn't.
I have a gmail account that I access via the mail app on my computer.
What's wrong?

That's usually a control click on the menu bar, or a double-touch. Pressing escape will get rid of the pop-up. If it's the control key that's getting pressed, avoid pressing that when you're clicking. Could also be the setting on your trackpad or magic mouse; it's possible to set the trackpad to a double-touch and that's the same as a control click, for instance.

Notification Center A notification of an email appeared but the email is not in Mail

Just new to Mt. Lion. A notification appeared of an email, but when I looked in Mail, it was not there. I don't even know how to find the list of notifications. I can swipe to open it, but that particular one has disappeared. What's happened to my email message? (Yes, Mail has been open throughout this problem.)

I have the same problem. An email notification flashes and then go to Mail and nothing is there. Inbox or junk etc. I had a friend sending me emails from a new account last night and I did not recieve them.

Yahoo blocks my thunderbird emails why

when yahoo receive my emails and consider any emails as a scam they place the email into a scam folder, this blocks my thunderbird mail by stating THE RETR COMMAND FAILED etc etc. This can only be cleared by going into Yahoo Mail and deleting the suspected scams.
My question is are there any other ways I can stop my emails going to Yahoo?

There is no such thing as Thunderbird email. If your email provider is Yahoo, you get your messages through Yahoo, and you'll need to correctly configure the Yahoo server settings, either for Yahoo directly or Sky Yahoo (whatever is correct in your case).
Thunderbird is an email client used to retrieve messages from your email provider, it is no email provider itself by any means.

Ipad can receive email headers but no text or attachments

Try this.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Or this.
Quit the maill app completely. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Then try mail again.

Odd coding appearing in my emails - any ideas?

Last few days at the bottom of my email body text, this line is appearing in all the emails that come back to me (copies, forum replies, etc.)
Where it appears in the email there is no text or signature or anything. I can't figure out what it is about. Has anyone seen this before?

I don't know where it is coming from, either. There are a few knowledgable people here that might know. Mail does add html or rtf codes to your emails if you change fonts, sizes, colors, add images, etc.

Yes, that's correct. If it is multi-line code, then you just need it at the beginning and the end.

Is there a way to create a reminder from a date that appears in an email that was sent to me? I know that when a date is entered into an email I can create an event on my calendar for it, but is there a way I can have it be a reminder instead?

Here is a method for extracting a still from iMovie 09.
Are you working in iMovie and realize that certain frames in the movie would be perfect as photographs? Here is how to extract them...
*To get a still frame from an Event*, right-click on the frame and select "Add Still Frame to Project". The still will be added to the end of the current project. Right click on the still frame in the project and select "Reveal in Finder". You will see a jpeg file that is highlighted. Drag this jpeg file in the finder to the iPhoto icon on your dock.
*If you want a still from a project*, rather than an event, the process is similar, except you right-click on the frame and select "Add Freeze Frame", and it adds the freeze frame at the end of the clip rather than at the end of the project. Right-click/reveal in Finder, drag JPEG to iPhoto icon in dock.
*If you are not using iPhoto*, and just want to save to your desktop, click Reveal in Finder as above, then COPY, then PASTE to desktop.
Hint: If you do not want to clutter up your iMovie Project with stills at the end that you would have to go back and delete, then create a separate iMovie Project just for your stills, and follow the instructions for capturing stills from an Event.
Note: If you do not have a right mouse button, then control-click will work instead of right-click.

Google show that you have to cut what you want to print and then paste it into a new app and print from that app.

Did just that and now .local's resolve correctly. (make sure to restart the vpn connection to apply the new search).

Thunderbird email links will no longer open on the Firefox browser. (I have to use another browser to open email links.)

Since a recent update (either for Firefox or Thunderbird, don't remember which), links in my Thunderbird emails will not open in Firefox. I can't even open the Thunderbird "help" link. In desperation, I installed Opera, and the email links work perfectly well. There seems to be some sort of disconnect between Thunderbird and Firefox.

I fixed this myself. You have to ensure that Firefox is the default browser. In the Firefox menu (maybe under Edit if you are running Linux) go to Preferences. Click "Advanced" then in the "General" tab click the button toward the bottom that says "Check now" and Firefox will automatically check if it is the default browser and, if it is not, ask you if you want to make it default. Answer "yes" to this question.
